The Ardennes Curse

Rate this book
When Armand Rommulus killed Luc Ardennes in single combat before the Great Council, he was forced to leave his pack and his home—and claim his birthright as the Ardennes Alpha. But Armand isn’t like other wolves—he’s something deadlier. Armed with a new evolution, and the magic in his blood, he’s a force to be feared.

Victoria had no love for her sire, but what she does have is love for her people. She’s determined to free them from the curse forcing them to become mindless, slavering terrors every full moon. Even if it means taking their new Alpha to mate. She quickly discovers Armand is not only a good man, but a noble wolf.

Victoria must choose between the life of the Alpha she loves, or breaking the curse tormenting her pack.

Saranna De Wylde has always been fascinated by things better left in the dark. She wrote her first story after watching The Exorcist at a slumber party. Since then, she’s published horror, romance and narrative nonfiction. Like all writers, Saranna has held a variety of jobs, from operations supervisor for an airline, to an assistant for a call girl, to a corrections officer. But like Hemingway said, “Once writing has become your major vice and greatest pleasure, only death can stop it.” So she traded in her cuffs for a full-time keyboard. She loves to hear from her readers.

Saranna writes nonfiction under the name Sara Lunsford. Her memoir about her time as a corrections officer called Sweet Hell on Fire releases Nov 1 from Sourcebooks.

Story wise, this short story was even better than the former books. The plot was great and the overall writing was really good. the chemistry between the H and h was typical werewolves explosive yet subtle and very believable. Just like his father, Armand was also a real sweetheart and a true gentleman. The way he sacrificed for his people and his love was noble and touching. Victoria and all her sufferings deserved their happy ever after. Even if it was a bittersweet one. I truly loved this short one.

Recommend to be read as part of the series. Not truly stand-alone because some characters were introduced and exited from the series.

I wasn't really sure what to think of Armand Rommulus-Ardennes from the previous introduction. I definitely didn't expect him to be so interesting and to have so many sides. He is a rich character that we get closer and closer too as the layers of his personality are revealed. He has depth, kindness, love, patience, honor and so many more traits that make him so intriguing. He meets his match in Victoria, she brings out his protective side and makes him even more honorable that he was previously. I love the interplay between the characters, the immediate attraction and the depths they are willing to go to not only to be together but to save the pack was truly inspiring.
