Cat and Bones are on a job to protect a spoiled heiress, Tammy Winslow, whose life is in danger because her cousin wants her dead.
As Don doesn’t succeed to find said cousin (Gable), Cat and Bones take the matter into their own hands. They make a nostalgic visit (or two) to the place of their first date, the nightclub called Bite.
The story accurately summarizes the events of the previous books. The newly turned and grief-stricken Justina is here, an unusual self-defense lesson is presented, as well as a hot sex scene and an action scene where Justina .
A great novella of the Night Huntress series. Recommended.

Cat and Bones look after and protect a spoiled heiress that her cousin wants her dead.
Their holidays are ruined and they all end up at Cat' childhood home where Justina is already there.
Justina tries to cope with the fact that she is a vampire and Bones really helps her.
I just love Bones and his mother in law together.
Cat falls in love with him one more time and I could not stop smiling:
By the time Bones announced it was Tammy's turn, I'd fallen in love with him all over again. Flowers and jewellery worked for most girls as a romantic gesture, but here I was, misty-eyed at watching him show my mother how to stab the shit out of him.
Nice short story. It's worth reading it (although Tammy is very annoying) as
-it shows the improvement in the relationship of Bones and Justina
-it shows the Justina' acceptance for her new situation
-it shows the length of Cat's new powers

One for the Money by Jeaniene Frost
Night Huntress series 4.5. Urban fantasy vampire romance. Can be read as a stand-alone but better as part of the series.
Cat and Bones are on vacation but end up on guard duty. The spoiler heiress has no clue as the simple job becomes much more.
A bit amusing, a lot bloody plus vampire politics makes this short story a fantastic addition to the series. Cat should know better than to expect a relaxing weekend. It was so nice of Bones to train Cat’s mother.

I don't know how I have missed reading this story before but finding it was a pleasant surprise. I really miss Cat and Bones and having a chance to hang out with them again was a true pleasure!

I so love these short stories. Especially considering that we rarely get to see the more peaceful sides of their life. Though this can hardly be called peaceful. But it was hilarious and I loved it.

I was impressed by how much they managed to cram into this novella! it had action, romance and humour but it didn’t really add anything to the storyline. This should really be cheaper if not free feeling a bit ripped paying $4 for 60 pages of what reads like fan fiction considering it’s not relevant to the main story line.

This is a fun little Bones and Cat short. Of course they're protecting an idiot of a spoiled rotten brat. But I did enjoy seeing Cat and her mom start to balance out where they are in their relationship after what happened to her mother.

A short fun read that worked perfectly well as a standalone for me...

Tammy's face was almost comical in its incredulity. "But it's daylight," she said at last. "Vampires can't go out in the sun, everyone knows that!"
Bones chuckled. "Right. And we shrink back from crosses, can't travel over water, can't enter a home unless invited, and always get staked in the end by the righteous slayer. Really, who'd be afraid of a creature like that? All you'd need is a Bible, a tanning bed, and some holy water to send us shivering to our dooms.”
Cat’s and Bones’ romantic get-away is cut short when they are called upon to protect a spoiled human heiress with a price on her head in One for the Money by Jeaniene Frost. The author can sure cram a lot of fun excitement into sixty pages! Even though I’ve not read the rest of the series, I thoroughly enjoyed this delightful romp on the wild side. It’s available as a single novella and in at least two anthologies: Magic Graves and Death's Excellent Vacation.
As the story opens, man-and-wife vampires Cat and Bones’ R&R time away is interrupted when they, along with Fabian, a ghost, are called into service to protect Tammy, who is annoying and not exactly cooperative. They whisk Tammy away to Cat’s childhood home which is supposed to be a safe, secluded refuge – only to find Cat’s mother there. Cat’s mother has issues of her own as she detests vampires – but is now a vampire herself. Can Cat and Bones keep Tammy safe as they become targets too? Will Cat and Bones eek out any alone time amid all the ruckus? Can Bones find a way into Cat’s mother’s hard shell? Pick up this novella to find out!

Great shorty from Jeaniene Frost. It's always fun to read about Cat & Bones and their exploits. And even though this was short we still got sexy action between them. Something that thrilled me was Bones' treatment of Justina and in turn her good deed towards him.
As far as narrators go Amanda Ronconi is one of the best. I absolutely love her but I think of her as Molly Harper's narrator. Hearing her perform Cat & Bones instead of Tavia Gilbert was a little weird but I definitely enjoyed it. In a way I liked her version of Bones' voice better. It was deeper in pitch than Gilbert's. However, unlike Gilbert, Ronconi can't seem to pull off a good English accent. It sounded Australian to me.

Enjoyable short with characters I love! I listened to the audio and enjoyed it. Amanda Ronconi is no Tavia Gilbert, and I'm one of those that love Tavia Gilbert's narration. She did a very good job though. =)

Aww, yes. It's good to be back in the crazy, wicked, messed up world of Cat and Bones. And it kind of makes me want to indulge in a re-read, so that's always fun!
Anywho. This time around, Cat and Bones are trying to keep an heiress safe from some supernatural baddies. This sort of interrupts their planned vacation time AND ends up with them sharing space with Cat's mama (who is not the biggest fan of Bones) as they work on figuring out how to keep said heiress out of the line of fire.
A little family time (unintentional as it is), a little sexy time (on the sly because vampires have REALLY good hearing), a fight or two, and a vampire couple doing what they do best. Good times all around.

4.25/5 stars! This was a cute novella in the Night Huntress world. Cat and Bones are stuck guarding an annoying heiress as a favor to Uncle Don. This was a quick read but kept us in this world until we could get to Night Huntress 5.

This was in a bind up with another novella I read earlier this month. So I figured I'd read it since I had it. I don't know where it fits in the storyline but it doesn't really matter to me. I haven't read the series yet but I know a lot about it since it was a older series and I knew the characters ended up together.
