Stan Lee (born Stanley Martin Lieber) was an American writer, editor, creator of comic book superheroes, and the former president and chairman of Marvel Comics.

With several artist co-creators, most notably Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko, he co-created Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four, Thor as a superhero, the X-Men, Iron Man, the Hulk, Daredevil, the Silver Surfer, Dr. Strange, Ant-Man and the Wasp, Scarlet Witch, The Inhumans, and many other characters, introducing complex, naturalistic characters and a thoroughly shared universe into superhero comic books. He subsequently led the expansion of Marvel Comics from a small division of a publishing house to a large multimedia corporation.

THE GOBLIN and the GANGSTERS
Apr 1965

The main peril here is that Peter has washed his costume and it's hanging in the attic slowly drying!

Plus there's the Green Goblin!

Spider dowozi nawet w staroszkolnym wydaniu. Co prawda zabawa z odslonieciem jego maski w tym numerze jest co najmniej komiczna

Spidey comics do combat banter better than anyone else. Asking the Goblin if he gets his pumpkin bombs at wholesale got me.

It's nice to have a superhero who is both flawed, and street-smart, especially in this era. I love the ending paragraph about how even when Peter has nothing to worry about, he worries about THAT. Relatable, Peter, I get it.

Goblin returns in ASM #23 as the flying menace tries, unsuccessfully, to take over a mob of gangsters. Frederick Foswell returns, after being revealed to be the "Big Man" way back in ASM #10, as Jameson gives him a second chance at the Bugle. We also see that Parker has taken to hide his costume in the attic, away from Aunt May. Though we do get a Norman Osborn appearance here as part of Jameson's Business Club it is an unnamed and non-speaking role; with that distinctive hair it's hard to miss noticing him.

"You're warning me?! That's like Mickey Mouse warning King Kong!" - maybe not one of Spidey's better quips.

NB. The iconic cover art on this issue was recreated for later reprints of ASM Marvel Masterworks Vol. 3 and loses none of its power as a classic cover.

Green Goblin kembali beraksi di New York.

The Green Goblin and Spider-Man going after the same mob for opposite reasons, whilst at he same time trying to outwit each other, is a breezy read. I love that Pete remembered to call aunt May to let her know he wasn’t going to be home this time.

Also: While he’s calling his aunt, Spidey does this thing where he makes a net on the ceiling and times it so it’ll fall on some guys after they get into the room, and it’s pretty sweet.

Decent issue, but I’ll forget about it in a few hours. I like the idea of Goblin taking down mobsters in order to take over the mob, but the execution was pretty mediocre. It really took them a while to make action interesting in comics. There’s not really anything outside the main plot that is memorable.

PROBABLY MY FAVORITE SO FAR. Spider-Man and the Green Goblin are such an iconic duo. Their interactions are hilarious. As my quest goes on, I hope to see some of this banter in the newer comics. Not everything is doom and gloom. But overall, this issue was really good.

(By the by, has Goblin always had such long eyelashes?? I swear the guy wears mascara.)

A decidedly middling Spider-Man adventure. The Goblin wants to take over a gang. Spider-Man disrupts the plan. He also starts to feel nervy about something that might come along to cause him some major problems in the next issue.

this issue was kinda mid. pretty proud of myself though for being able to name every single character (other than the specific names of the masters of menace) in this issue's marvel masterworks pin-up.

This was surprisingly boring for a Green Goblin reappearance.

It's 300+ numbers, of course not all of them can be exciting (and they haven't been), still, I didn't love this one.
