I really enjoyed this book. The suspense of the story kept me intrigued. The romance between Gabrielle, and Braddock was sweet. It was nice to read a action / Romance that didn't have the Hero, and Heroine falling in bed together the first chapter. This story allowed for the hero and heroine to build up a friendship, and trust. They shared a few earth shattering kisses, but never gave into the desire that was swamping them until the last few pages.
Gabrielle had a rough childhood. She was raised by her mother that was a alcoholic. She grew up believing that Sloan had killed her dad. Right before Gabrielle left for college, her mother died too. After she buried her mother, she went on to college. She tried to study hard, and concentrate on her school work. The need for revenge was just too much. In her heart she believed that Sloan had killed both her parents. Killed her father with a bullet, and her mother drunk herself to death because of a broken heart after losing her husband. Gabrielle knew the only way she could get on with her life was to make things right, she had to put a bullet in Sloan or die trying.
She had one mission in life. That mission changed a bit when she had to save two kids from being kidnapped. Braddock had one mission. That was to stop Gabriella. His mission changed too when he had to keep the children, and Gabriella safe. I really enjoyed the way the two worked together.
Victoria and her late husband started the Colby Agency several years ago. Now she has decided to liven things up and bring in some new recruits. The first recruit she hired was Todd Thompson. Things worked out well with him so the next is Gabrielle.
Things aren't going so well with her. It seems she has her own agenda for wanting to work for the Colby Agency. Her story line was awesome. Had me on the end of my seat. Once I started it I just did not put it down.
When a confidential file was stolen from the prestigious Colby Agency, it was A. J. Braddock's mission to retrieve it. His assignment: locate Gabrielle Jordan, the enigmatic woman who'd vanished with it. Except he never expected to find her hiding out in Mexico, safeguarding two boys--the victims of a failed kidnapping plot. But Gabrielle's fierce tenderness toward the youngsters stirred the ex-military man's own protective instincts.... Now, forced to rely on each other to stay alive, neither could resist the passion that simmered between them--leaving A.J. torn between duty and desire.... Such a sit on the edge of your seat read. Very intriguing, very sensual, not to mention action packed. I love how Gabrielle evolves through out the book. 5 stars
