CLAMP originally began in 1989 as a twelve-member dōjinshi circle, but by 1990, the circle had diminished from twelve to seven. Of the remaining seven, Tamayo Akiyama, Sei Nanao, and Leeza Sei left the group during the production of the RG Veda manga. Other former members of CLAMP also included Soushi Hishika, O-Kyon, Kazue Nakamori, Yuzuru Inoue and Shinya Ōmi. Currently, there are four members in the group.

In 2004, CLAMP's 15th anniversary as a mangaka group, the members changed their names from Nanase Ohkawa, Mokona Apapa, Mick Nekoi, and Satsuki Igarashi to Ageha Ohkawa, Mokona, Tsubaki Nekoi and Satsuki Igarashi (her name is pronounced the same, but written with different characters) respectively. The August 2004 issue of Newtype USA, a magazine specializing in events of the anime and manga subcultures, reported that the members of CLAMP simply wanted to try out new names. In a later interview with Ohkawa, it was revealed that initially Mokona wanted to drop her surname because it sounded too immature for her liking, while Nekoi disliked people commenting that her name was the same as Mick Jagger's. Ohkawa and Igarashi, wanting to go with the flow of Nekoi's and Mokona's name changes, changed their names as well.

In 2006, they made their first USA public debut at Anime Expo in Anaheim, California. They were well received at the convention, with 6,000 fans in attendance at their panel.

Well as the last volume in this series I'd say this definitely lives up to the standards of a damn good final chapter!

I love all of the main characters: Fai, Kurogane, Sakura, Syaoran, Mokona. The plot was enormously intense and reached new heights in this last volume. The revelations and the tie ins between the other Sakura and Syaoran was a bit confusing at first but such an amazing and shocking plot twist.

My only reasoning for not giving this five stars is because after all that these characters suffered through especially Sakura and Syaoran, and Ah it's somewhat of a happy ending still but I was unfortunately quite disappointed in that part. But other than that I still loved it.

Well, I finally finished the series I started when I was a kid. It was so engaging and exciting but it was also incredibly complicated and confusing. I'm still left with questions because I don't think everything was explained to the extent it should have been, but I still feel satisfied that I completed this series.

Wow. Here we are. The grand finale of an amazingly beautiful and complex series. I could cry. What a journey....

This is a really, really complex plot. I mean, whenever you're dealing with time travel, it's going to get complex. This is no exception. Typically, time travelling plots always break down because you're always creating a paradox. Avengers: Endgame tried to rectify this, and I'm not they completely succeeded, but, before them, CLAMP attempted the same thing, so the concepts in both are similar. If you've seen Endgame, recall what the Ancient One says to Banner about timelines, because that's exactly what CLAMP is discussing in this book, only they take it one step further and decide to boldly do what no time-traveling series has done before: own up to the paradoxes they created and face them. That. Gets. Crazy.

This volume is a roller coaster time-wise. Mark which Sakura/Shoaran are doing what and why. Try to follow the purposes and goals of Fei Wang, Yuko, and Clow Reed. If you can, reconstruct the entire overarching plot in order so that you understand what happened and how it affected time. Keep in mind that when you're outside of time, like Fei Wang and Yuko have been up to this point, you can see the entire thing and influence various points of multiple strands of time. Fei and Yuko jump between timelines often to achieve their (opposing) goals. And don't forget Watanuki either!

I highly suggest, once you finish this series (or once you finish xxxHolic which ends after Tsubasa ends if you're reading both together) that you immediately pick it up and reread it, marking from the beginning which Shoaran/Sakura is there and the objectives of Fei Wang and Yuko (as well as Fai D. Flourite's knowledge of events). I think it'll help the reader understand exactly what's going on. Chart time if you can. And enjoy the fact that you've just finished one of the most complex, detailed, and beautiful manga that exists. It's confusing, especially towards the end, but keep at it. Reread things. I was totally lost when I read this years ago, but, coming back to it, I think I get it better now. Still some questions, but I think a reread will help.

And, let's not forget, this is just the beginning. A sequel series is partially complete with hints of intersecting with the new Cardcaptors as well. So....the journey continues. I was not at all disappointed. My memory served me well. Still one of the best stories I've ever read with brilliant characters, deeply complex plot, gorgeous artwork, and all sorts of feels. Well done CLAMP. Now please, PLEASE finish x/1999. Pleeeeease?????

I'd part read this series a while ago, but decided to revisit it after finishing XXXHolic earlier this year. I definitely recommend picking up XXXHolic, as well as any other CLAMP series in general, before picking up Tsubasa Chronicles - otherwise, it would almost be like watching the Avengers movies without seeing any of the standalone films. Tsubasa Chronicles is filled with references to other CLAMP characters, and it really heightens your enjoyment when you see characters and items from other series.

The callbacks to other worlds was also fantastic. I also really enjoyed the way the characters developed relationships with each other. While Sakura and Syaoran's romantic relationship was a no-brainer, the relationships between the Core 4 (5 if you include Mokona, 7 if you include... well, you know), and between Fai and Kurogane in particular, were really heartwarming (and heart wrenching too).

The adventures in the beginning of the series start quite lighthearted and do drag a bit, but definitely take a brutal turn about halfway through. From that point on, I could not stop reading! Things also got much more complex on the time/dimension travelling side of things, and I think it would be really interesting to re-read the series with knowledge of the ending in mind.

The art style is really lovely, and I particularly loved the two page spreads where the characters were dressed in matching outfits. One thing I disliked however, was how confusing the action scenes were at times. Overall, this is a series that I really enjoyed and would definitely re-read!

Will reread and then make final rating call.

Edit:

Okay, I reread! This is one helluva wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey story.

The Kingdom of Clow being the Tokyo world they visited was a really cool twist. The wings being the eroded towers from Tokyo? Pretty dang cool.

The Time Witch is trapped outside time/space because Clow Reed had a simple wish when she was dying for her to open her eyes again, and he was so powerful it ended up coming true? And the only way to break the cycle is for time to start moving again, like with Sakura, except this time the Time Witch has to die like she was meant to? Also very cool.

When Image!Sakura and Image!Syaoran meet again reborn in the (CCS-adjacent) dimension... Aw, that did my heart good. But then when they sacrificed their happy life because it was just stopped time/repeating events, and they'd rather stop existing than not move forward... Ugh, ouch.

Docking this one a star for the simple reason that it's not really a happy ending. Syaoran has to keep paying a price, even though they defeated Fei-Wang, and can't settle with Sakura. I know it technically says Syaoran is going to keep journeying as his price, but that the price may one day be paid (and he may find a way to separate the image selves back into their own bodies again). But I mean, dude, come onnnn. Was it so much to give them a reprieve and a permanent happy ending?

One of the best manga series ever, Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles is the absolute most intriguing series ever. Going into every character, their roles in the series and the meaning behind each and every one of their existence, going into their deepest memories, surfacing them, and seeing how they play a role in the story.

The strong desire of one's power, and it's ability to alter space and time, and it is that strong desire that keeps our protagonists moving forward, so that time in the story might unloop itself, and everyone could find a way out.

Filled with complicated time loops, universes, dimensions and paradox, this book is the absolute personification of complex time traveling, and the concept of the different dimensions was extremely cool and magnificent.

Along with the fact that it is the sister series to xxxHOLiC, it makes this series even more interesting to read, so that one could understand more about what is going on in xxxHOLiC, as it is one of many worlds in the Tsubasa Universe.

CLAMP is definitely the best manga circle on Earth, even if Dragon Ball or Naruto seems to beat them in animation and sales, because the depth that they go into: human nature, desire, that one taboo that no one could ever reach, how everything is the inevitable: human morals and philosophy: this series is one of those book series, manga or not, that shaped me into who I am today, and I am so glad to be able to have the complete omnibus series in my hands.

Two words to describe all 28 volumes: COSMICALLY PHENOMENAL. This story is the original 'Kimi No Na Wa/Your Name' + 'Cosmere' (minus the intricate magic systems) but more complex in spacetime material, has extremely emotional and philosophical diegesis, and lots of action-packed scenes. So underrated but the plot and world-building are paramount. It's like reading David Mitchell + Brandon Sanderson + Cixin Liu on steroids. I love this series to pieces (feathers). *wink*

Today's question of the day is, is it incest??
They are the same person but the child of their soulmate.
And then the partners have actually the same name which may or may not mean they are one in the same.
The book held off from the heavy plot until the end so it felt in the very least overwhelming and confusing. I finished it just for the sake of saying I did. The Omnibuses are good until I want to say 4, then after that it's not worth it.

not to be boastful but if there’s anything im confident with… it’s my reading comprehension. but this had me rereading the ending 2 times to make sense of it. i even fell down the rabbit hole of forums discussing different kinds of theories… cause I BADLY NEEDED TO KNOW. thankfully my curiosity is satiated now

I am glad that I feel satisfied with the conclusion. After reading so much I really needed the ending to feel worthwhile. The major things are answered, but seriously, CLAMPs works are so interconnected it's kind of ridiculous and overwhelming. Overall glad I finished off the series.

I was honestly surprised at how thoroughly they explained all of the WACKY TIME TRAVEL CLONING DAD-SON ANTICS in this volume and the last couple volumes. GG, clamp.

Read for the challenge of:
"Read a book originally written in a language other than English."

Officially my favorite manga of all time. It might not be for everyone, but it got along with me so damn well.
The art was 10/10 I've always loved Clamp's art but this was just superb. The characters are obviously my favorite thing in the world. Sayoran, Sakura, Kurogane, Fai and Mokona and just everyone. I even love everyone from xxxHolic and I haven't even read that yet.
The plotting was amazing. Of course, it is one of my favorite plot lines out there. (Parallel worlds)

I just will always love Tsubasa and thank god now I have a sequel to look forward to. Since my favorite character didn't have the most favorable ending:)

Confused and dissatisfied

This has got to be one of the most dissatisfying ending I've ever read! What the heck?! I also got very confused with all the salieras and syorans in the second manga volume. I wanted them to be happy but that was the ending? Really?

Okay, I zoomed through it in one sitting and wow. The final volume packs a punch, but ngl I'm still somewhat confused. There's A LOT to keep track of here, but I think it's ultimately a satisfying ending. Still have the sequel and xxxHolic to read...
