Lila Jenkins's Montana ranching town roots run deep. So why does the widowed B and B owner feel so connected to her latest boarder? Seth Maxwell might know his way around horses, but he's a wanderer, not a rancher. Lila's son thinks Seth's the hero he's been waiting for. And—heaven help her—so does Lila.
Seth loves hunting for rare gems in remote areas, but maybe it's time to make a change. The footloose adventurer is tempted by rumors of sapphires in a nearby mine, but it's Lila and her boy who make Snowy Owl Crossing and the idea of a ranch to share feel like home…
Roz saw her first book, Red Hot Pepper, published by Harlequin Books in February 1990. She has written for several Harlequin series lines as well as special projects and online serials. Besides being a writer Roz has worked as a medical secretary and as an administrative assistant for both an elementary school and a community college. Part of her love for writing came from moving around with her husband during his tenure in the Marine Corps and later as a telephone engineer. The richness of settings and diversity of friendships she's experienced continue to find their way into Roz's stories.
Lila Jenkins a widowed B&B owner, has a active 9 year old son and a busy job raising him as a single mother, she wants companionship (one involving a good tumble between the sheets), but in a town her size, she is warry of gossip and so keeps her desires locked tight, but when Seth Maxwell comes to town, she finds herself strongly drawn to her new border. Then there’s Lila’s son, he thinks Seth is the hero he has been waiting for, but Seth’s only in town for s short while, but Lila and her little boy tempt him to finally put roots down.
Overall, this was a bust for me, the plot and characters didn’t really do anything for me, everything was a tad to squeaky clean and nice for me, that being said there were moments that had me smiling and somewhat engaged, hence the lacklustre 3 stars and not something lower.
At times some of the writing and the manner in which secondary characters were introduced didn’t entirely work for me.
