Originally from Savannah, Georgia, USA Today bestselling author Aly Martinez now lives in South Carolina with her four young children.

Never one to take herself too seriously, she enjoys cheap wine, charcuterie boards, and her mildly neurotic golden retriever. It should be known, however, that she hates pizza and ice cream, almost as much as writing her bio in the third person.

She passes what little free time she has reading anything and everything she can get her hands on, preferably with a super-sized tumbler of wine by her side.

5 stars!

From the moment I finished Retrieval, I was dying to get my hands on this book. Transfer was everything I had hoped for. It was intense and suspenseful, emotional, sexy and had the perfect conclusion for all four of the characters involved in this duet.

Retrieval was Roman and Elisabeth’s story primarily. Although they are in Transfer, I wouldn’t say this is their story. This is the story of the other couple. I loved that we got four povs. It was wonderful getting to see what was going on from everyone’s perspective. I loved the heroine in this book. I loved her strength and perseverance. As much as I loved the heroine, I loved the hero even more. This hero was just ah-mazing! He was the perfect combo of kind, protective, and when need be, a little on the possessive/stubborn side. I adored them together.
Letting her go was no longer an option. But, after today, it was clear keeping her wasn’t going to be easy, either. Yes, I could make her laugh and keep her safe. But I couldn’t fix her, no matter how much I wanted to.

Aly Martinez is a must read author for me. If she releases a book, I read it. I love her writing and stories that much. These books just solidified that for me. Once again, she brought the feels, and she brought them hard. I love feeling when I read. The more emotion the better. These books felt so personal to me and I loved that about them. I want to go on so much more about this story, but because I know many of you have yet to read Retrieval, it’s a very vague review. Trust me- you’ll thank me when you read both books with zero spoilers ;)

Both parts of this duet get a full 5 stars from me. These are stories that will make you think, feel, and will have a lasting effect on you. You don’t want to miss out on these fantastic reads! Definitely some of this authors best work.

Wow…what a roller coaster ride this second installment turned out to be! 'Transfer' is the great conclusion to the Retrieval Duet and was fantastically written, griping, emotional filled with suspense, steam and action. Like the first book, I simply devoured this one! Since this installment picks up right where the first one ended, it must be read after that one. If 'Retrieval', the first book in the series, focused on Elisabeth and Roman’s story, this second book focuses more on Claire and Heath.

"Sometimes, when I dreamed, I'd travel back in time to the days when I'd thought my life was hard."

Years ago, Claire’s life changed irrevocably when she met the scumbag who later will become her husband. She lived for seven years in fear, not only for her, but also for her daughter. The man who was supposed to love her and care for her almost destroyed her in these seven years, Claire forgetting what means to really live and to be happy, now thinking that she has nothing left to give. When she manages to escape her husband's house, who over the years became her prison she finds solace in Heath’s arms, a man who over the last months became her friend, her only friend.

“Heath had taken so many of my dirty and broken pieces away over the last week that it was a wonder I wasn’t transparent. The holes left behind weren’t always as easy to fill. But, each time I fell apart, he was there.”

description

From the moment Heath met Claire he felt so much more than pity for her. He admires her strength and the way she cares and protects her daughter and all he wants is to care for both of them, to make them feel save, to show them love can be gentle. Heath feels more for Claire than he should, he knows that and that’s why he tries to fight his feelings at first, but slowly he falls hard not only for Claire, but also for the little girl.

"What do you need, Clare?" he mumbled against my chest.

I smiled victoriously. "You."

His eyes lifted, an inferno brewing within as he finally gave me the only permission I would ever need. "Then take it...I'm yours, Clare. Take it all."

I really enjoyed this second installment! It was fast paced, intense with some interesting angst and drama and a well-developed, complex plot. Claire was a heroine I sympathize deeply with. She was a wonderful character who at first sight is weak and damaged, but let me tell you, she was nothing like that. She was strong and determined to protect her daughter. She always stayed focused to make sure her daughter is save. Heath was a wonderful hero. He was sweet, caring, kind, thoughtful and so very protective with Claire and her daughter. The way he cared for Claire, the way he loved her was absolutely stunning and so heartwarming. His tenderness toward Claire and her daughter as the story unfolded melt my heart and the way he provided for them was admirable.

I loved these two main characters and I loved how much depth both of them had. Their friendship was lovely and the transition between them from friends to something more was nicely done and believable.

"Lean on me, babe. You don't have to brave right now."

The swoon-worthy smoking hot romance between them was definitely one of my favorite aspects of this story. These two together melted my insides. I loved the honestly between them, the way they were with each other, the way both of them came to life when they were together.

This second book in the series was told from multiple POVs which I really enjoyed. Roman and Elisabeth were fantastic as well in this installment and I have to say that I loved the relationship between these four characters. The epilogue was wonderful, full of love, friendship and hope. Simply perfect!

All in all, 'Transfer' was a great conclusion to this awesome duet – action packed, suspenseful and emotional charged!

I am totally and completely BLOWN AWAY by The Retrieval Duet series!! How can you go wrong with a series that has TWO incredibly sexy and alpha male heroes, and two kickass heroines??!! I fell so completely head over heels in love with Roman during the first book that I didn’t think my heart could be stolen by another--BOY WAS I WRONG!!!! If you haven’t read RETRIEVAL yet, then this is where I will tell you to skip the rest of my review because I will be revealing something that you don’t find out till the very end of that one. For those of you who have read Retrieval, get ready to fall in love with a new Hero!! Heath Light is equally as alpha and swoon-worthy as Roman, if not more!!!

 photo transfer aly teaser reveal_zpsvyivrifr.jpg

The story picks up where the previous book left off. Heath and Roman were able to rescue Clare and Tessa from Walt. Unfortunately, Walt has escaped and has gone into hiding. While at the hospital, Clare learns who Luke/Heath really is and at first has feelings of resentment but she’ll soon come to see that this man was her savior and possibly even her soul mate. Since Walt is still on the loose, Clare and Tessa end up staying at Roman and Lissy’s home, where they have a top of the line security system and a ton of body guards to guarantee their safety. Everything is rapidly changing in Clare’s life and nothing is certain anymore. She struggles with her fears of the unknown and of whether or not Lissy will try to claim Tessa since she is her biological mother. Heath is always there by her side to provide her the calm and stability she so desperately needs. Little Tessa has also formed an intense bond with Heath and there isn’t anything he wouldn’t do to keep those two safe and happy.

 photo Transfer-Teaser 3_zpskvnxmrgx.jpg

Heath’s boss tries to kick him off the Walter Noir case due to his connection to Clare, but there isn’t anything or anyone that is going to keep him from protecting the woman and child that he has grown to love. So he promises that he will keep it professional with Clare. That will prove to be quite impossible for Heath when Clare turns to him for more than just comfort and let’s just say I felt my own temperature rising when Heath lets Clare take what she REALLY wants from him!!

During their time together the two couples will form strong friendships and Tessa finds herself surrounded by a new blended family to shower her with an abundance of love. But all is not roses and rainbows as Walt still poses to be a very dangerous threat to not only Clare and Tessa, but to those around them too.

Get ready to be taken on an action packed thrill ride with an added healthy dose of steam that makes this one hell of a knockout read!! I would dare to even say that this is by far my favorite series by Aly Martinez!

TRANSFER is currently available! If you have not started this series yet, you surely need to bump this up your TBRs!!

~5 CRAZIES ~COULD NOT GET ENOUGH STARS~
"Lean on me, babe. You don't have to brave right now."

Transfer is an absolutely stunning conclusion to the Retrieval Duet. To enjoy this read, you must read the first book in the duo Retrieval. The rich writing and complex characters in this series enveloped me from the first word on the first page, and I simply could not get enough. This unforgettable duet is an absolute must read!

description
"Sometimes, when I dreamed, I'd travel back in time to the days when I'd thought my life was hard."
Picking up the pieces of her shattered life Claire is desperate to keep her daughter safe and make sense of the madness swirling around her. She is terrified of her abusive ex-husband and has found solace in the arms of her protector Heath. As Claire makes sense of it all, she becomes stronger than ever and vows to find goodness once again.

description
"Fuck my job. Fuck the entire investigation. I wasn't quitting on Claire Noir no matter how things ended."
Heath is careful as he gives Claire his friendship. Although he hopes for more, he recognizes the tender state that Claire is in. Additionally, with his job on the line, he must find a balance between keeping her safe and remaining professional. The stakes are high for Claire and Heath and as the strong emotional connection between the two grows, coupled with the intense physical attraction, it doesn't take them long to find lasting love with each other.
"Did you just spend an hour getting permission to fuck me?"
description
"...guide me home Claire."
Told in dual POV, Transfer has a beautifully crafted plot with action, complex characters, and smoking hot romance! Roman and Elisabeth, the spotlight characters from Retrieval, continue to play a critical role in the plot and the dynamics between all four characters was quite entertaining. I enjoyed the diversity between the two couples and loved how they complimented each other so well. The story arc was well developed, and the twists and turns kept me engaged the entire read.

Overall, Transfer and Retrieval blew my mind, made me smile, and the action kept my heart pumping the entire time. Aly Martinez deserves a standing ovation for this masterpiece of work, and I cannot wait to see what she comes up with next!

“I don’t believe in wishes, but somehow, I’ve found myself in a situation where a silly wish is all I have left. If I’m lucky enough to catch 11:11 again tomorrow, it means we’ve survived another day.”

Wow, wow and WoW! While I absolutely loved “Retrieval” (The Retrieval Duet #1), it had absolutely nothing on “Transfer” (The Retrieval Duet #2.) I didn’t think I could possibly love this book even more than the first one, but here I am and….it was better than the first one. I am so glad I waited until “Transfer” was released before delving into this series as I don’t think I could have possible handled not knowing how this beautiful, suspenseful and utterly gripping story concluded.

“Retrieval” is Elisabeth and Roman’s story. “Transfer” is Clare’s and I absolutely loved Clare. She is a strong, determined woman who would walk to the end of the earth for her daughter, Tessa. She has been living through absolute hell for the past seven years because of her physically abusive husband. Clare shows throughout this story the absolute strength and perseverance she has. She is truly an inspirational character.

As much as I love Clare, no character in this story even comes close to Heath. Wowsers, he was so sweet, loving, considerate and protective. He was the perfect all round hero. They were the absolute perfect couple and their love and passion literally jumped right off the pages.

description

“Transfer” was written from all four characters points of view, Elisabeth, Roman, Clare and Heath. I loved that about this story, because you really got an insight into everyone’s emotions and thoughts. It didn’t make the story at all confusing and it flowed really easily.

This was the absolute perfect conclusion to a beautiful duet. These are not the first books I have read by Aly Martinez, but they are by far her best. There was nothing for me not to love about this series; it was heartbreaking, heart-warming, intense, passionate and suspenseful. “Transfer” literally had me on the edge of my seat wanting…..no, needing to know what was going to happen next. If you have not as yet read this series, then you need to do yourself a favour and get onto it right away (and make sure you block out enough time to read them back to back). “Transfer” follows on from “Retrieval”, so you need to read them in order. I know that I will never forget this story for as long as I live. Amazing!

FOUR LOVE AND PAIN STARS.

"I was going to find a way to make her safe."

description

Aly Martinez is one of those authors that I'm always curious about where she gets her inspiration for story telling. Her words are always so full of depth and meaning I have trouble believing that they don't hold some truth or personal background. The first book in this two part series quite frankly blew me away and as a consequence of that, I was obviously more than eager to continue with book two. 'Transfer' was fantastically written, full of suspense and intrigue. This author produces work that is worthy of falling in love with. In summary; this duet is a not so hidden treasure that I know for certain fellow bibliophiles will be eating up.

What did I love?
Original to the end Aly Martinez has swept me up with her ability to spin a well thought out tale. I was kept interested from beginning to end and I feel proud of a book community that can jump behind an author that is so obviously over talented. I felt so wrapped up in the plot and characters I struggled to leave this book alone and carry on with my 'real life' tasks. Heartfelt, original with a suspenseful twist this book will keep most readers on their toes and desperate to reach the end of the journey for these fantastic characters.

description

Why not five?
Unlike book one of this duet I struggled to connect whole heartedly with the protagonist's. Where book one felt seamless, 'Transfer' had some holes in the story telling for my tastes. Nothing that made me dislike my time with this novel but just enough to shave off the top star rating. With that being said, there is no denying that on the whole I've felt captivated by this series and once again I feel compelled to congratulate this author with a huge well done.

description

Final thoughts ...
I'll always willingly fall head over heels in love with this authors work. Those who haven't yet added this series to their to be read pile would be crazy not to give this series their attention. Aly Martinez is an author that deserves all the success and more and I can say with authority that this romantic suspense duet will be staying with me for a long time to come. Enjoy ... kisses.

Overall Opinion: This was a bummer for me. The pacing was completely off, and I even got to the point that I was tempted to skim. It was sooooo slow at the beginning that it almost lost me and went in my dnf pile. I am happy, however, that I did finish it out because they all get such sweet HEAs. If you know my reviews you know that I am not a huge fan of suspenseful romances, and the main reason for that is that there often isn't a good balance between romance and suspense IMO. This did have that balance of both romance and suspense, but it was presented like 2 different sections. We get the first that is focusing on Clare and Heath's romantic relationship, and then the second is the action. This didn't work for me either tbh, but as the raving reviews show -- obviously it's a "it's not you, it's me" type of thing ;)

Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Clare, Heath, Elisabeth, and Roman's story. This continues off where the last book left us, but this is more focused on building the relationship between Clare and Heath. I won't go into details because it'll ruin these books, so I'll just say -- there are some sexy times, a few sweet times, and some suspenseful moments...and they all get HEAs.

POV: This alternated between all 4 POVs (but mainly Clare and Heath).

Overall Pace of Story: My biggest issue. This felt really slow and then it went into hyper speed and all sorts of things started to happen at once (and then the epilogue). I never skimmed (surprisingly).

Instalove: No, but both couples are pretty much in love when the book starts.

H rating: 4 stars. Heath. He had to be head alpha in this story ;). I really enjoyed the tough guy exterior with the gooey sweet insides for his girls!

h rating: 4 stars. Clare. I liked her. She was strong, especially in the face of evil. I appreciated her love and loyalty to others.

Other H (H2) rating: 4 stars. Roman. He was still the hot alpha with the big heart :)

Other h (h2) rating: 4 stars. Elisabeth. She was super sweet with Clare, and I loved how she wanted her happiness even if that meant that she wouldn't get what she wanted.

Sadness level: Low. No tissues needed.

Push/Pull: No

Heat level: Moderate. They have some good chemistry and scenes.

Descriptive sex: Yes

Safe sex: Yes and no. Condoms are forgotten a few times, but used others. I don't remember any mention of STD status or previous practices.

OW/OM drama: Yes

Sex scene with OW or OM: No

Cheating: Not IMO

Separation: No

Possible Triggers: Yes

Closure: This had one of those endings where the major conflict was resolved right before the epilogue. Luckily, the epilogue was awesome for both couples and we get a HEA for all of them :)

How I got it: I paid the $3.99 on Amazon.

Safety: I'd call this one either

Genre: Romantic Suspense
Type: Book 2 of 2 from The Retrieval Duet
POV: First Person - Multiple
Rating:

Clare Noir's life was put in spin cycle due to a revelation that could changed everything. It was time for her to start fighting back, especially that she had good people alongside her. But after uprooting her former life, things didn't go as easy as planned when a monster from the past refused to let her go.

Transfer started right where book 1 left off with all characters having to go through major changes in their lives. They had to learn to adapt and accept that things were no longer how it used to be.

I would not allow Walt to take that away from me. Or take me away from them.

Clare had evolved since book 1. If she was a scared, fragile woman then, she grown her teeth now.

She was also getting support from someone who cared about her, which was a nice change from the life she had before. He helped her to heal and strengthen both her emotional and physical state.

Letting her go was no longer an option. But, after today, it was clear keeping her wasn’t going to be easy, either.

Transfer is the perfect complement as the conclusion to this series. It is a fast pace, engaging read with a good balance of sweetness, warmth, sadness, suspense and sexiness.

From the moment I finished Retrieval I wanted this book and once I received it I dropped everything I was doing to start it. I then proceeded to read it in one sitting, falling even more in love with these characters.

In Retrieval we learned about Roman and Elisabeth. We learned how they lost themselves in the struggle to start a family, but eventually found each other again through learning more about their fertility process. I loved Roman and Elisabeth, but for the most part their story is told in Retrieval and Transfer features a different couple.

This story is actually told in four different points of views, which I loved! I felt like we really got the whole story and I loved seeing how these events shaped all the characters involved. This story is emotional and the issues the characters experience are unimaginable. Knowing how everyone is affected and how they cope made me really connect with everyone.

Which leads me to our new couple. I loved our heroine. Some people may not see her strength at first, but after reading her story I can completely understand and relate. I could see how she did her best to survive and protect what was most important to her. Now onto our hero, I loved this guy. Absolutely loved him! I felt like he was the perfect hero, it was so easy to fall in love with a man who was willing to do anything for someone he loved. He was protective, compassionate and understanding. He was loving and always put her first. He was willing to lay down his life before he even fell in love, he is just that kind of guy.

This duet is just more to me. It’s an emotional story that owned my heart from the very beginning. It was more than about fertility issues and included a ton of heart and even suspense. It had me completely hooked and unable to read fast enough to see what would happen next.

This series is by far one of my favorites of the year. Aly Martinez always blows me away, every book of her’s I read I find myself saying it’s my new favorite. That is an amazing thing, but something Aly does so easily with each new release. I cannot recommend this series enough, trust me, read it!

I’m blown away by this duet, blown away. Both books are absolutely in my top books of 2016. If you read my review of Retrieval , you know I devoured it. Well, it wasn’t any different with Transfer. Not only was I desperate to get my hands on it, once I got it, everything around me stopped and I just read and read. That’s how awesome this was.

Now, this review must be spoiler free for various reasons. One, I don’t want to spoil a single thing from Retrieval. Two, it’s so much better if you go in blind. And three, the author nicely asked arc holders if we could refrain from revealing major plot lines, especially the name of the hero, so I will totally respect this.

So, there isn’t much to say. The story picks up right after Retrieval ends. While the couple of book one, Elizabeth and Roman are very much present in the story, the focus of the story shifts a little to Clare and her hero. And trust me, he is a hero in every sense of the word. Clare is strong, remarkable and amazing. And her man, trust me, he is as swoony as Roman.

“Ask me,” I ordered, giving his hair a sharp tug. “What do you need, Clare?” he mumbled against my chest. I smiled victoriously. “You.” His eyes lifted, an inferno brewing within as he finally gave me the only permission I would ever need. “Then take it.”

But if you’re missing Roman’s alpha awesomeness, do not worry, he has some awesome scenes here too:

“You hate red sauce, and just last night you made me lasagna. We both make compromises. That is not a bad thing. I can pick off olives and almonds and choke down salmon once in a while because I know you’d do the same for me. Now, chill out, eat the damn Raisinettes, and then give your man a dark movie theater hand-job.”

The story interconnects both couples in a perfect way, and leaves no loose ties, which I love. It has the same amount of love, suspense and hotness as Retrieval, so I loved every second of it. I’m so amazed at how clever these books were written and how well all flows together, especially the multiple POVs. The ending is everything I wanted, and the epilogue is simply perfection. So, this duet is a must read, please pick it up. I absolutely recommend.

“There was no combination of letters in all of the world’s vast languages to properly convey how I felt about her. But, as I rested her shoulders against the cool sheet rock and moved my mouth to her neck, I gave her all I had. “I love you, too.”

Wil

Wow, this duet was beautifully done. The author continues telling us the dramatic heart breaking story of two couples in this gripping story, focusing more on Clare’s story in this book. My heart literally broke for both couples. I literally can not imagine the pain a couple would go through dealing with ALL the events this story has, and survives in the end to live on smiling.

Such a touching story that left me in tears on a few different occasions, cringing moments in other situations, and big smiles in the end. There are many highs and lows as these two couples work their way through the pain and distrust that has consumed them.

This book captivates and consumes your attention. Such a compelling plot! It is hard not to be sympathetic to everyone involved in the book. My only down about the book (maybe I missed it) was what role is Elisabeth & Roman to Tessa, and does she or will she know what happened and whom they are to her?!?! All in all, I loved it❤️❤️❤️

The author continues telling us the dramatic heart breaking story of the two couples in this gripping romance, focusing more on Clare’s story. This book definitely satisfied my love of an emotionally angst read!

It was a touching story that left me in tears on a few occasions, which is rare. It wasn't anything I'd read recently or even ever. There are highs and lows as the two heroes and two heroines work their way through the pain and distrust that surround them. The author takes you on a roller coaster ride that doesn't want to let you off.

Clare is awesome, I adored her so much in this story. She is determined, strong-willed, but she also has a lot of emotions. She is such a strong heroine!

Transfer just oozed with healing, happiness and love, there are a few twists here and there and there are some things that kept gnawing at me throughout. And, even though I saw all the plot twists coming it still completely sucked me in and captivated me.

That was a seriously intense family drama. Such a compelling, original plot! It is hard not to be sympathetic to everyone in the book. What lengths would you go to save a life, especially the life of a child?

The author wrote a moving story that keeps you interested from start to finish. I really can't say too much else without giving anything away, but this is a must read, albeit an emotional one.

TRANSFER: After 'Retrieval Book#1' left us hanging over that cliffy you'll be glad to know that this kicks starts off right where the previous book left off, spoken in 'Heaths' own words.

This is the story of how Claire escaped from the man who thought he owned her.

The rescue of Claire and her daughter Tessa is paramount in Heath's taking down of her husband Walt and getting them to safety. Keeping him alive is another matter, when all he wants to do is destroy him with his bare hands for all that he put Claire and her daughter Tessa through.

After I finished Retrieval Book #1 I was dying to get my hands on this goody with it being the last instalment which ties up this stunning, emotional conclusion of this duet nicely.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic Walt had proven that love wasn't always hearts and flowers. It could be dark and dirty, defined by power and pain, and filled with anguish and agony.

Even though this is a continuation of Elizabeth's and Romans path of finding their way back to each other it doesn't fully focus on just those two, it also centers around Clare and her budding relationship with Heath which we were given a small glimpse of in the previous book sort of, once you pick this book up it will all make sense of who Heath really is and what role he plays in this book. To say you'll be surprised will be an understatement.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic The brave woman whose smile could light even the darkest night The one who had ensnared me from the moment we'd met. The one I would protect with my life for no other reason than she was made to be mine. The one I'd fallen in love with before she had even known my name.

Things for me started to really pick up and pack a punch at around the 70% mark, I really needed that, my heart rate spiked up and I found my interest increasing again, the previous half was more focused on their budding relationship, Elisabeth and Roman make an appearance in this book too though it's not centred around them as such, the focus is more towards Heath and Clare and wee Tessa.

Heath turned out to be one of my favorite characters in this book, if the author could bottle him up and sell him I'd be the first to buy, the guy just oozed sex appeal, no other alpha male had anything on him, his one liners, yep I was a goner..

This is such a unique read, nothing I have read compares to this duet or even comes close, definitely a recommended one click.

"There is nothing in this world that I will not do to protect you two. And, if you think for one second that I can't do it, you are highly underestimating the depths of my selfishness when it comes to you and your girl."

I can't tell you how much I needed this book after the way in which Retrieval ended. I just couldn't wait to dive right into this one.

Transfer begins exactly where the last book left off. Clare has been in a horribly abusive relationship with the infamous Walt Noir, who is also her husband, for many years. The idea of even trying to leave is a scary thought for Clare as Walt is wealthy by his illegal dealings and has connections everywhere. There is only one thing Clare fights to survive for and that is their daughter Tessa.

"What do you need, Clare?" he mumbled against my chest.

I smiled victoriously. "You."

His eyes lifted, an inferno brewing within as he finally gave me the only permission I would ever need. "Then take it...I'm yours, Clare. Take it all."

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

I absolutely loved Clare. She was so broken in so many ways, but still had this silent strength to her. She never lost her determination to protect Tessa, no matter how hopeless her situation felt like. Even when she was left battered and bruised, Tessa was the only thing she thought about keeping safe. She is completely in shock when Roman and Luke come to their rescue. Despite no longer being in Walt's clutches, she can't help but feel paranoid that he will come back for them. She knows he won't stop at anything until they're together again. And now she also has new fears about the future of Elisabeth and her daughter Tessa. Clare is struggling to not go over the edge, but luckily she has Luke to keep her sane. Although it takes her a while, as she comes to terms with Luke's real identity.

I have got to say that I LOVED Luke, a.k.a. Heath. He was such an amazing guy. Heath was a total alpha and über protective when it came to Clare and Tessa. I loved how he gently pushed Clare out of her shell and taught her to see herself for the amazing person she was. Heath was so wonderful and so freaking sexy. I couldn't have come up with a better Hero for Clare, they were so great together. Don't even get me started on the way Heath treated Tessa, my heart melted.

"Listen to me. That burden is not yours anymore. Internalize it. Accept it. Then let it fucking go and trust me to take care of it. Of you. Of your girl. Of everything. I've got you, Clare. From here on out, it's you and me."

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

I don't want to give much of the plot away because, like the first, this is one you will definitely want to experience on your own. All I will say is that I enjoyed the fast pace in which the story was told. It was intense, suspenseful, steamy, and sweet. I loved that Roman and Elisabeth were still very present in this book and that we also got both of their P.O.V.'s. Tessa totally stole my heart with her innocence and her sweet loving nature, despite experiencing things no little girl should ever witness. I just loved the two couples so much. Aly Martinez did an excellent job blending these two couples into one story.

Overall, this series was absolutely fantastic. This is by far my favourite series by Aly Martinez. It really hit me in the feels and had me on the edge of my seat. I loved each couples' romantic storyline. The suspense was a nail-biter with some great twists and turns. If you have not read this unputdownable duet, you need to get on it A.S.A.P. I don't lie, seriously give this a read because it will not disappoint you.

2.5 painful stars.

This was a difficult review to write because I really liked Retrieval. This one, not so much. I couldn’t seem to warm up to Heath and Claire. The chemistry between them and their story lacked the intensity and spark of Retrieval.

I wanted more of Roman and Elisabeth and their story. I felt they got the short end of the stick when it came to Tessa. There really was no discussion between the couples on how they should address the situation. Roman and Elisabeth just stepped aside without a fight or at least an argument! The ending was too neatly wrapped up to be believable.

After that ending in "Retrieval" I NEEDED to read "Transfer" ASAP. The secrets and drama damn near drove me mad and I was itching to find out what was going to happen between Heath and Clare. Well I found out and you know what the best part was? We also got to see Roman and Elisabeth again. How did everyone's story end?

Finding out who Luke really was, to say that Clare was shock is an inderstatememt. How can this be the same person that she's spent months with and sharing little pieces of herself. But that shock will have to go on the back burner because her and her daughter's life are in more danger than ever before.

Trusting someone has always been a difficult thing for her to do, but when your life is on the line and the one man who's been protecting you behind closed doors tells you have no choice, you listen.

Heath has been in a reallly difficult position for the last few months. With trying to do his job as an undercover Agent and slowly falling the woman that's the star of his investigation, he's been at war with himself mentally and physically.

Running on his last resort to try and keep her safe, they both decide that they should stick together. With their plans set in motion, Heath and Clare embark on their journey to survival and finding something that they never knew wanted.

"I wasn't quitting on Clare Noir no matter how things ended. And, whether it was legal or not, I was going to find a way to keep her safe".

I loved the fact that Roman and Elisabeth's story was just as important as Clare and Heath's journey. Everyone really fought for each other and you felt their love for one another all around. It messy at times but they manged to make it work and I admired that about them.

My only issue was that I wished we got more action in this story. It felt like it was dragging in the first half and I became a bit bored with everything but it did pick up in the second half so I grateful for that. If you want to know how everyone got their own happily ever after, then pick this one up!

BR with my shhluts Liz & War, I'm the one on the right with the cool hat LOL

~~~~~BLURB~~~~~
One story. Two couples.
I fell in love with a man who didn’t exist.
What started out as romance ended in hell.
His words turned to razor blades.
His kisses converted to fists.
His embrace became my cage.
His body transformed into a weapon, stealing parts of me until ultimately….
I broke.
I hated him.
My sole job in life became to protect our daughter.
I wasn’t sure I’d ever escape the prison he’d skillfully crafted from my fears.
Until the day our savior arrived.
This is the story of how I escaped the man who thought he owned me.
The transfer of my life and my family.
This duet kind of describes how I feel about Aly Martinez books in general. Sometimes I'll read something by her and LOVE IT, and other times I'll read it and enjoy, but it doesn't wow me. Retrieval is easily among one of the best books I've read this year, and Transfer I enjoyed the first 50% of the book and then it went downhill a bit for me.
I still think this is an outstanding duet, but I loved the first book more. The second half of this book became predictable and a bit cliche, I found myself skimming the last 20% because I had lost interest. Am I still buying paperback copies of both books? YES. Because OCD that's why!
PS: Lana, please don't murder me.
This is a must read. The story continues with Clare and her fight for survival. A story filled with hope, sweetness and heart despite the dark setting. I was at the edge of my seat, expecting Walter Noir to pop up at any time to take back what was his. Low on angst, more on drama this book was an easy read. The hero(who i shall not name at this point) was PERFECT. Just someone Clare needed and was lucky enough to have by her side. SUPER SWEET, SUPER POSSESSIVE and SUPER HOT.
And that epilogue...*heart melts*
A definite recommendation!
4.5 STARS
Aly's Duet is truly an unique story in both the way in which it is told and the story itself. It has passionate sexy elements, as well as deep emotion and suspense. This was a great ending to this riveting and deeply emotional story.
Picking up right where book one left off, the story unfolds as we're given more of Heath and Clare. This was a fast read with intriguing and likable characters. I must say, I also thoroughly enjoyed the troop of alphas at the Leblancs.
I highly recommend Aly's duet. The intrigue, the light and the dark, sexy times and emotional themes all make for one memorable read.
4.5 -goes on my favourite duet shelf- Stars
I don't know which book or couple I liked better. Probably book #1 cos Roman was so devoted and driven. But the H in this book was high up there too. No, I'll go with Roman... but... ah who cares! I'm happy I got em both *le sigh*
Not gonna post a synopsis or my thoughts for that matter cos; what can I say when all other reviews of this series speaks louder and more eloquently than I can? I say; READ SERIES VERY GOOD (cos I'm all verbal grammar articulate and stuff).
Highly recommended to those who enjoy their romance written awesomely (cos that's a word) with some suspense and swoony, safe heroes.
Must be read in order of duet.
Completely vague because I'm not gonna begin to spoil this plot review coming your way...
In the Retreival/Transfer duet, Aly Martinez gifts her readers with not one love story, but two. With not just two love stories but also a suspenseful plot weaving these two couples together. And what to we come up with in the end? A family. A bond within struggle, violence, and eventually love.
This plot isn't always sugary sweet. It feeds off of some of the ugly in this world...domestic violence. The fight...that of the victim eventually becoming the victor against her once love and now enemy. Her husband must be taken down for everyone's happily ever after and you'll feverishly turn the pages, praying she's not another statistic but instead a survivor.
I loved this series, finishing both books within two days. I strongly advise readers to read minimal reviews- or stick with reviews promising no spoilers. Go in blind. You won't regret it.
Yee gods... did this thing go in the drink with a quickness!
As I mentioned in my review of Retrieval, whichever one of these ladies was doing the narration for Claire was my least favorite. Guess who was featured in this one?
Claire and Heath tell most of this story and I was just not feeling it. I feel bad for Claire. She's been through hell. Literally. Her sociopath of a husband beat her, terrorized her and basically kept her prisoner FOR YEARS! YEARS!
She and her daughter Tessa finally escape with Heath's help then they all proceed to move in with Roman and Elisabeth for safety reasons. About 15 minutes later she and Heath are banging and talking about forever. What the what what?!?!? My suspension of disbelief abilities went on strike. There's only so far they allow me to push before I get smacked in the mouth.
I get that Heath is a "super hot" alpha dude but asking me to believe a woman who'd come out of this sort of extended abuse would be keen to immediately jump into sex and a relationship was too big of an ask. Especially when said "super hot" alpha dude is actually an alpha-hole, something I would think would be a trigger for her. Evidently not. Dude is cray is all I'm saying.
I stuck it out mostly to see how the Tessa thing played out for both couples. Parts of this plot line I enjoyed like the action sequences, but the whole thing with Claire getting knocked up by her alpha-hole after having having sex, like, once without a condom when she had to go through IVF to get Tessa?
I felt like that was hella disrespectful to infertility and couples who struggle with it.
So... not my cuppa.
This is just so AMAZING I luvd every part
I was dyin for this book after the way the last book ended I need to start straight away with no break an once I started I couldn't stop the story carried on from where the last booked ended thank god I couldn't believe that it stopped where it did I needed to know what was goin to happen Clare's life was so al over the place but with Heath there to help her through some totally devastating time she could try an get through it but with Walter gone in hiding she was on the edge al the time she needed to keep her baby girl safe an she would do anything to do that even if things weren't what she thought they used to be she would still hold on tight to what she loved so much
Elisabeth is an amazing woman this book made me luv her so much her strength an outlook on things that had happened was so good I don't think I could be as strong as her but she does have Roman there with her al the way through it an they were know so strong an there luv even stronger I actually thought the way she opened up to Clare was so beautiful it could of gone really bad but she just wanted the best for Clare an Tessa she is such an unselfish person an Roman was just as great he would do anything to keep the 3 of them safe I found him so sexy an there was Heath he was just brilliant an so sexy Clare needed just a man like him after the hell she went through with Walter
This series is just brilliant I couldn't get enough of this book I stayed awake just to finish it there wasn't a place a could put it down an I m glad I didn't again like the first book it had my emotion al over the place but I was so happy that Clare an Elisabeth got there happy ending the Epilogue was just a perfect way to end this brilliant series I would highly recommend it xxx
