This is a great look into southern England during the early 1700s. I want to go back through the places he visited and see the changes that have happened during the space of 300 or so years.
One has to keep remembering when this was written - it's surprisingly modern compared with, say, Pepys' diary, written 0nly 60 years earlier. I found the details about fishing really interesting, but some of it does drag a little. He didn't have a very high opinion of Beau Nash and the Bath scene...
