But the world of alchemy still needs her to dig up a four-hundred-year-old man for a mother she may not totally trust, then create the stone to end all stones. After that, she’s free.
Sounds simple enough . . . that is, if she’s not used up or dead by the end of the process.
This book was extremely confusing for me. So much seemed to be happening with them jumping around all over the place and by the end of it there seemed like a lot of loose ends that had also not been closed up.
I figured early on in this series that it was somehow connected to the Preston Six. Not to many books or series get a back story and when they do its not as intense as this. Way to go Matt, you done good!!!
There are a few plot nuggets that are mentioned but never explored again. Such as someone suspecting someone isn't being totally honest or someone catching the tail end of a secret meeting. These often get left by the way side and never mentioned again but it forgivable because I can appreciate the story overall. Definitely worth the reads!
Matt Ryan is a superb author who is telling a very unique story in this series. I have thoroughly enjoyed visiting his created world. Except for a temporary formatting problem with book 2, his writing is excellent quality and I haven't been able to put any of them down! Forget sleep! I now await book 4 with baited breath. This was a really outstanding experience. Well done, Matt!
