Karen Booth is a Midwestern girl transplanted in the South, raised on 80s music and repeated readings of Forever by Judy Blume. She writes steamy contemporary romance and women's fiction. When she isn't creating fictional hunky men and the women who test them, she's listening to music with her kids, honing her Southern cooking skills or sweet-talking her astoundingly supportive husband into whipping up a batch of cocktails.
This was a kind of meandering epilogue to Bring Me Back containing lots of day to day stuff, most of which was sweet, gentle and occasionally poignant rather than action packed, not something that always works for me, yet I really enjoyed this. I like living inside the head of someone for a day or so and that's exactly what this delivered.
Unlike the last book, the clunky, formal smutty scenes were mercifully absent, replaced by lots of authentic romance and affection which I thought suited this story and writing style much better. I got the feels reading this.
This completes Claire and Christopher's story. Follows on from Bring Me Back and wouldn't really work on its own.
Claire, Chris, Sam, and the rest are back in this follow up novel.
If you fell in love with Claire and Chris in book 1 (like I did!) this book is a wonderful chance to spend more time with the characters.
One thing I enjoyed in this book in particular was the exploration of the familial relationships (while of course there is plenty of exploration of Claire and Chris' love).
In this novel, Claire's life is going through some wonderful changes...but then things start to fall apart.
Once again, Karen Booth demonstrates an uncanny ability to write 'real characters' that the reader connects with (and roots for). Another fantastic read!
Back Forever is a glimpse of Claire and Chris' HEA. In it, we witness them living their life - trying to have a baby while preparing for Claire's daughter, Sam, to graduate high school and leave for college, trying to plan a wedding while Chris' band is preparing for a comeback, trying to start a new life together while watching the life of a loved one fade away.
There's not too much angst. It's not a complicated story. And yet everything about Back Forever resonates with me. Ms. Booth has the indelible ability for making you love her characters and drawing you into their story. She writes real life in a meaningful way that is refreshingly dire-tragedy-free and yet still serves as the escape one looks for in fiction.
I adore Claire. She's 40 years old, has raised her daughter as a single mom, and has built a strong career as an entertainment writer. She's feisty, stubborn and fierce in defense of her loved ones. And she has this confident air that I really admire.
Chris - I don't know if I have words for how I feel about him. He's handsome and charming, to be sure. But he has to be one of the most loving and romantic men I've ever read. I have a bit of a crush...alright, more than a bit of one. ;) The ways in which he immersed himself in Claire's family warmed my heart. He loves Claire and it's evident in his every thought and action.
Claire's daughter, Sam, and her dad, Richard, are also big presences - after all, this is life. They remained well-written characters whom I loved just as much as Claire and Chris. In Back Forever, we see Sam learning how to fit Chris into the dynamic between she and her mom. We watch as she struggles with this change and as she continues to mature. Richard also works at fitting Chris into life as the Abbys have always known it. It was such a pleasure witnessing he and Chris work together, getting to know one another, and build a deep bond.
So, I delighted in every bit of Back Forever. It was exciting to see this story continue and I'd be thrilled to have even more - yeah, I'm selfish like that. Back Forever was extremely satisfying and gratifying and I am enormously grateful to Ms. Booth for giving Claire and Chris this sequel.

I’m not a carnival game. You aren’t swinging a mallet to ring the bell.
You are the most extraordinary and wonderful and frustrating woman I have ever met and I want you to be mine forever.
I shook my head at every stupid thing I said. Funny how the things in her head that make perfect sense have an entirely different ring when they’re out in the open.
You are my sunrise and sunset, the air I breathe, the quietest of moments, and the loudest of exclamations. Everything I do is for you and that will remain until I have nothing left on this earth to give.
My Review:
This sweet and sexy story chronicles many exciting transitions as the couple assimilates into a family unit with thrilling new arrivals and painful departures. Ms Booth’s appealing characters were endearingly stubborn and well-drawn; their comically clever inner musings had me smirking. Written from a dual POV, the storyline was engaging, entertaining, steamy, emotive, and eventful. I adored feisty and independent Claire and of course, had to feel an affinity to any character who loved peanut butter enough to eat it with a spoon. But I cherished the sweet and gentle heart of the swoon-worthy Christopher and fell completely under his spell. Sigh. The lively plot was thankfully less angsty than the first installment and was packed with feels, delicious steam, wit, humor, and poignant heart-squeezes.
This sequel to Bring Me Back shows how an internationally famous rock star conforms to everyday life now that he has found his HEA. Chris does a bang up job as a husband, step dad and ultimately father, in fact sometimes I wished to see his rock star persona come back out, he may have been a little too perfect. Claire on the other hand is dealing with job stresses, a teenage daughter and her father that is trying her patience daily and being pregnant at 40 with a bit more bite to her character. A romantic read for anyone who daydreamed about marrying a rock star.
It is important you read the first book in the series, BRING ME BACK, before you read BACK FOREVER. In this book, it pretty much starts when BRING ME BACK ended. Claire and Chris are adjusting to life in Chapel Hill. Claire’s father, Richard is living with them and there is something going on with him. He has been acting strangely.
Claire’s daughter, Sam, has felt left out in some of the decisions that Chris and Claire have been making. I know that Sam is a teenager and yes I have to deal with a daughter and her hormones in my house so I understand, but Sam was not a likable character for me. Her mother had been alone and rarely dated for most if not all of Sam’s life. Well now her mother found someone, someone wonderful who accepted Sam and she all whiney. Sam is a little selfish. She is not 11 years old. She is 17, a senior in high school and ready to go to college. It is time for her to act more mature and not like a baby. There are certainly other things in life that she does that she proves she is not a child anymore so she needs to step-up and be happy.
In the first book, Claire’s father had an issue with Chris, but in this book Chris and Richard get along. I loved seeing how Richard treated Chris more like a son than just a boyfriend of Claire’s. Now Sam, the daughter, I just don’t know what to think of her. She has a new boyfriend in this book and her making Claire feel bad about starting this new chapter in her life…I don’t know. I honestly feel that is the only thing I did not like in this story. Nonetheless, I loved Chris in this book and how he treated Claire. Seeing him how protective and loving he is towards her. For a person who normally loves stories with a lot of drama, I was glad that this book had very little of it. We just got to see Claire and Chris relationship evolve. The ex-wife comes back, but she is quickly taken care of. This book was also different in the fact that the hero got along with his band members. The hero is just a nice person. Chris does not flirt even though women who want him. I take that back, Chris is a natural flirt, but he does not flirt to get women to want him. He is just a charismatic guy. But he is in love and there is one love. The whole story between Chris and Claire felt special.

It's rare that we get to glimpse a couple's HEA so it's a treat to read Claire and Chris' in BACK FOREVER. Marriage, kids and all the trimmings of the white picket fence dream was present in this sequel. Things got a little overwhelming for everybody because of all the changes that's happening at the same time. Aside from the developments in their personal lives, Chris is planning a tour with his band and Claire's got the job of her dreams. But despite their New-York-Minute life, BACK FOREVER was relatively drama free devoid of ugly confrontations and all sorts of figurative bitch slaps, which is quite refreshing for a contemporary romance. I attribute it to Chris and Claire's ages, both being in their 40's and having gone through a lot of things in the past, they don't have time for BS so everything was straightforward and harmonious for the most part.
The conflict was mild in that it was centric to the concept of adjustment especially with Claire's daughter, Sam, and father, Richard. Though Sam loves Chris, she can't help but feel left out so Claire and Chris has to take extra care in including Sam in their bubble. Chris was the sweetest in that he was most sincere in making Sam feel that she is his daughter in every way and bonding with Richard in every opportunity. There were a lot of poignant moments throughout the story reflective of all the adjustments one has to make when one decides to be part of something bigger than oneself. BACK FOREVER is a great sequel and though I selfishly hope that there'll be more, I'm also satisfied with how KBooth closed Claire and Chris' love story.
After reading Bring Me Back, I wanted and needed an Epilogue. Chris and Claire deserved their happily ever after and I was desperate to read it. Well, with Back Forever, I got that happily ever after and so much more!
Back Forever was fantastic and exactly what I needed to complete the journey of Chris and Claire’s love story. The book offers an extremely realistic and authentic look into the lives of a mature couple who love, live and cope with the pressures of everyday life. The way Chris & Claire deal with every obstacle put in their way is absolutely refreshing, and indicative of their maturity and unwavering support for the other. The beauty of their love for each other, as well as Sam and Richard, is delightfully charming and heartwarming. The acceptance between Sam, Richard and Chris was not without issue, but in the end was extremely rewarding and just beautiful to read.
Back Forever does not have the over the top drama that has become prevalent in the genre, but in truth, it positively didn’t need it. Claire’s tenacity, love and strength coupled with Chris’ patience, love and resiliency drive this story and make it spectacular! While reading I laughed, I cried, I identified with the characters and their experiences and I fell in love with every single aspect of their story. There is not one thing that was lacking in their journey, every single word was just perfection.
With Back Forever, Karen Booth delivered the perfect sequel to Chris and Claire’s story, the perfect story about a mature couple finding love and happiness and the perfect story for any fan of the Contemporary Romance genre to fall in love with!

Chris: "I think about fate, about the circumstances that brought us together. I still haven't completely gotten past the idea that I could've lost you a few months ago and it would've been my fault."
This is the sequel to Bring Me Back. This book basically picks up where the first left of. This was life after the happily ever after in my opinion. It follows up on Claire and Chris's plans to have a baby and to begin a life together. A huge confession by Claire's father changes things forever. This book lacks the drama, that most romance novels have. Not to say there isn't drama but it is more so real life drama that normal people deal with. There is the typical Claire and Sam mother daughter relationship, not to say it is perfect by any means the two have issues like any typical mother and daughter.
Claire:"He is my rock. If he hadn't been there I would've been falling apart completely."
I still find Chris as dreamy and sweet as I did in the first book. My adoration for him and jealousy of Claire only grew in this book. He is so kind and considerate of Claire. You can seriously tell that Claire is his first priority. Chris has also turned into quiet the family man, putting Sam and Claire first. You can see the father/daughterish relationship between Chris and Sam blossom. I really liked this book and if you have read the first one, I promise you you will not be disappointed.
I absolutely adored Bring Me Back so when I was given the opportunity to review Back Forever I jumped at the chance. I mean really a chance to spend some more time the Chris and Claire total nobrainer. That being said I had high expectations for this book and it totally lived up to them.
I must admit I love a story when it isn't all about getting to the I love you. For me seeing how they cope when they are already in love and happily together is far more more entertaining which is why I am almost always an epilogue girl.
I'm too scared to say too much about this book for fear i'll give anything away. But it was equal parts sexy and trying. I love where it ended and I hope that maybe Ms Booth may have some more Chris and Claire for us in the future.
If I had one complaint about this book and it's only a little one but a few of the chapters felt like they ended a little abruptly for me.
This book, a sequel to Bring Me Back, finds Claire and Chris having dealt with the issues that nearly drove them apart in book one and eager to move forward.
Karen did a great job of creating characters I could completely relate to. They were real people with dreams and flaws that propelled the story forward and made me root for them to get everything they wanted.
I especially loved the story involving Claire's father and the resolution of that was touching and absolutely perfect. Looking forward to seeing more from this author in the future, as she has a great voice and a knack for dialogue. Besides one moment where I wanted to strangle a character or two (seems to be a theme lately, lol), I enjoyed this very much and recommend it for anyone who likes romance.
Note: This is a 4.5 star rating. Chris, Sam, and Claire are back. Chris and Claire's relationship have grown stronger, and they've started to settle down together. Sam is becoming an adult and getting ready to go to college. The events are relatable, and the characters are mostly loveable. Chris and Claire still have moments of acting more like children, while Sam acts more like an adult, but they mature through the book. The book provides a roller coaster of feelings, happiness, stress, sadness, and more. This book has some spicy moments, but there aren't as many as the first, and they aren't descriptive. There is also a hard loss that may be a trigger for some. Overall, I recommend this series.
Continuing on with the story of Claire and Chris’s love story where they finally get married and live happily ever after. Or at least until life happens. There is love and loss and some spicy moments but this one did bring a tear to my eye.
This book is also a lesson about parent child relationships, grieving, and learning to live life to its fullest!
Spoiler alert! I want to read the story that Claire is finishing for her dad!
**I voluntarily received an Advance Reader Copy of this book.**
The second book in this series is just as fantastic as the first. I love this family. They really stick together through good times and bad. It is inspiring to read about a couple who watch out for each other, and have each others backs.
I love, love, Chris and Claire in this book. It is good to see their happily ever after. Richard, Claire’s dad played a big role here. Chris’s band is also getting back together. Awesome... It’s so sad to say goodbye to this wonderful couple. A faithful rockstar??? That’s novel......
I liked the sequel more than book one. I just think it had more "heart" to it. Both have moments that will make you laugh but the sequel had a few moments that might bring on a test it two!
Just as super cute as the previous book. One star off because I wasn’t super crazy about having both Claire and Chris’ first person POV, especially since it wasn’t always clear when one perspective stopped and the other began.
What a great follow up. I generally crave epilogues, but these stories don't need them. It's a story about finding love, forgiveness, and passion. I am so glad I stumbled on Karen Booth's books and no looking back.
This was a very fun book. I really loved the characters and the family love that was shared. The story had alot of good information and facts. I enjoyed this book from start to finish.
Great book enjoyed reading it . would recommend it to others. great story line and would love to know what happens next in their lives. To add to the story would've beneficial.
Karen Booth had me hooked on book 1 . An unlikely match that surpasses all barriers to be together. All characters have a realistic feel. The twists and turns keep the reader engaged. I am definitely following her .
Claire and Chris, a dream come true. This is definitely a must read. If you read Being Me Back then you have to read this one. Nothing like love, family and life!
5 stars for Back Forever. This was a really fun book. It had all the feels, love, loss and what family and partners really mean in our lives. Highly recommend this series.
A wonderful continuation to Bring Me Back; life together and all that comes with it. Some of it wonderful, some of it not. A very poignant story that I thoroughly loved.
