I've been writing as long as I can remember and all of my stories always held a thread of romance (even when I was writing about a prince who could shoot lasers out of his eyes). I love creating unique characters, love giving them happy endings and I even love the voices in my head. There's no other job I would rather be doing. In September 2002, when I got the call that Silhouette Desire wanted to buy my first book, Desert Warrior, it was a dream come true. I hope to continue living the dream until I keel over of old age on my keyboard.

I was born in Fiji and raised in New Zealand. I also spent three years living and working in Japan, during which time I took the chance to travel around Asia. I’m back in New Zealand now, but I’m always plotting new trips. If you’d like to see some of my travel snapshots, have a look at the Travel Diary page (updated every month).

So far, I've worked as a lawyer, a librarian, a candy factory general hand, a bank temp and an English teacher and not necessarily in that order. Some might call that inconsistency but I call it grist for the writer's mill.

"It was their one-year-anniversary tomorrow and she was determined to do something for Drew. Her mate had romance down."

"Never had she thought she’d be courted so outrageously and so sweetly at the same time."

Shifting over, Indigo, his tough, strong mate curled into him. “Wanna nap again?”
“Best. Mate. Ever.”

Awww... I love these little snippets of my favorite Changelings!!

Awww I love Indy & Drew, they're just ridiculously cute together and this was the perfect way for them to spend their anniversary. Indy does have it in her to romance her guy when she puts her mind to it :o)

Una escena cortita ( se lee en 5 minutos ) que nos muestra un poco mas de la vida de Drew e Indigo, una de mis parejas favoritas. Son tan lindos juntos.

Drew and Indy's one year anniversary. And just ahhhhh, she got that gift just right for a romantic guy like Drew. Indy's got some in her, too, it seems.

Thank you so much Ms. Singh. I absolutely love this little snippets of pack life.
I think you are one of the few authors out there that keep us embedded in the series through so many many gorgeous story gifts.
So, thank you again.

A free short story, 14.1 in the Psy-Changeling paranormal romance series, that intersects with Shards of Hope , 14, revolving around the SnowDancer wolf pack that controls most of California. The couple focus is on Drew Kincaid and Indigo Riviere, in the SnowDancer pack.

It first appeared in Nalini Singh's May 2016 newsletter.

My Take
It's a third person dual protagonist point-of-view from Indigo's and Drew's perspectives, and it feels both action-packed and character-driven. The action is low-key and totally relevant to the two characters with its intimate focus on two wolf changelings celebrating their first anniversary. And in this instance, it's Indigo who is frantically trying to figure out some way to offer up a romantic gift to the wolf who oozes romance.

Considering that the short is a whole four pages long, it's difficult to judge the pace, but it felt just right.

The Story
It's their first anniversary, and Indigo is frantic to find a romantic gift for Drew, something that's at least half as romantic as what Drew dreams up for her.

The Characters
Indigo Riviere is a dominant Lieutenant in the SnowDancer wolf pack, and she's mated to Drew Kincaid, the pack's tracker ( Play of Passion , 9). Platty is Indigo's raggedy bear.

Riley Kincaid ( Branded by Fire , 6) is also a lieutenant of the SnowDancers.

The Title
The title is a conundrum for Indigo, how to go about "Romancing Drew".

How embarrassing for me that I’d momentarily forgotten Drew’s actual courtship of Indigo in Play of Passion, as an attempt to show her how she is and always will be /it/ for him. Luckily this story reminded me in the best way. Not only of those scenes but also of how much I love them. It was amazing how Indigo’s attempts to come up with ways to which ~romance Drew on their anniversary were constantly derailed and interrupted by her remembering his continued tokens of affections and smiling goofily over them, which I can relate to because Drew x Indigo is pure and true, and this story is pure playful domesticity.

Drew is one of my all time favorite characters and while I do not like Indigo, I highly enjoyed this scene.

Throughout their book, Play of Passion, Drew did all the work in the romance department and it was both romantic as hell but hilarious to boot! This scene was Indigo showing that she loved Drew and wanted to show him she could be romantic too. She hit it out of the park and did the best anniversary romance for Drew. It was so suited to him and I loved it!

Still don't like Indigo but I love Drew too much to care in this scene.

I can really relate to Indigo's plight. Not the most romantic person on the planet, or the best at gift giving. Her simple yet great idea to spend the day in bed with her mate Drew-who loved sleeping late-a genius idea I might use one day.
