Review for the full manhua, mix of both versions (kinda)

This ended up being creepier in atmosphere than I thought, perfect for October I guess. There's a lot of things in here that usually I don't like to see in fiction anywhere, but the story was just good enough in both length and quality that I didn't mind it.

I'll admit I only got into it for the art, but can you blame me. GO LOOK AT IT it is gorgeous, unsettling, dark and whatever else you wanna call it. Absolutely perfect for the manhua.

The actual mystery aspect wasn't mind blowing or anything, but truthfully It doesn't matter. IMO it you haven't read any Manhua yet this should be your first one because for it's length it's damn good regardless of it's flaws.

It wasn't that mind blowing, but I didn't expect it too.

really dig the art style of this one. i've never seen a manhwa with a jaw dropping art style like this

i could rate this 5 stars just from the art style alone!

the plot is also chefs kiss but i do however agree with the fast-paced part but that doesn't really matter to me cause i've read aisha first (which is still on-going and is connected with this but not kinda bc both would still make sense even if u read it in no particular order) before this one which is more detailed and story-wise

i guess it is to be expected cos this has 12 chapters only while aisha has 30 chapters out so far

anyway, im really looking forward to the next chapters of aisha !

How I’d wished this wasn’t so fast paced. I loved the plot and the character development and most notably: THE ART.
I wish it’d be adopted into something more thoroughly studied and thought-out, an anime or a novel, agree?

This is the first time I read Manhawa.

The story is a good plot, but I can see that somehow the painting has covered the whole story.

The first Manhua I ever read and believe me when I say this , this is something I have never expected.

Favourite part:
description

It is a tragic story about a girl whose mother died giving birth to her. She was tormented by her evil stepmother and three brothers with whom she shares no blood ties.
Where will this pain , anger, and hatred lead Ayeshah to after she is betrayed by her stepmother ?
Will anyone understand her secret ?
Redemption from her brothers , retribution from Ayeshah , this book is filled with it all.
description

Filled with mystery and twists that will make you go gaga , this is must read for anyone interesting in graphic art or Manhuas.
The plot was engaging and interesting that it will keep you hooked till the end. There is no way you can stop reading it in the middle of the book. 11 chapters and a spin-off , all read in one sitting and without stopping.

The art in this book was so damn good that I had to give 5*'s for just the artwork itself. Every page was pleasurable to read. It was drawn realistically, the interior and exterior designs, backgrounds, the human bodies, all the faces and their expressions are in the correct proportions. The art is so beautiful it makes the characters beautiful as well. Every page is literally darker, achieving a dark and gloomy mood fit for the story.

I would suggest it to anyone interested in Manhuas.

Ah to clarify what I am reading is the newest version of this series of graphic novels. (Called “Aisha” instead of “Aisha’s Secret”, which explores more of the backstory of all the characters and is actually set previous to the events of the original Aisha’s secret) .

This childhood favorite horror dark fairytale with the realistic art style (in Chinese) is a retelling of Cinderella where the Cinderella archetype character was seemingly is absolutely brutally murdered by the evil stepmother but then miraculously coming back to life again as a complete different person (cold & calculating), to seek revenge on what the evil stepmother like a vengeful ghost (…or is she?)

The perfect short story for any horror lover — beautiful art, revenge and romance, a grim and dreary Victorian fairy tale.

Absolutely perfect.

A twist of the old Cinderella fairy tale. Ayeshah was tormented throughout her childhood by her stepmother and three stepbrothers. I hope along the way she gained some independence but until her untimely 'death', she remained as meek as a cow. All was forgiven because of the beautiful art.

Sean, her eldest stepbrother is cruel and reminded me of young Tom Riddle. The other two fall for her as expected because she is such a doll. I believe that in his own way, Sean too would want Ayesha.

I think what I enjoyed most with this book is the twist and also the fact that the stepmother is a tad bit psychotic. She works really hard at tormenting a little girl until she almost reached adulthood and then when the torments seems not to work, aiming to kill her. She is such a stereotypical villain that it is laughable when she said don't paint her as an evil stepmum like in the stories.

Read this because of the hype it got on Tiktok. I honestly don't get the hype around the manhua. The art was absolutely gorgeous, I agree! But the story itself... It was very fast paced and rushed. If I hadn't been spoiled the plot twist would've been mediocre at best because it was still pretty predictable. There was a lot incest which was excused... Up until the end.

SPOILER!
I also feel like Ayesha's twin sister who died didn't get the justice she deserved. From what I understood, she's the one who mostly was inside the house and therefore was subjected to the most abuse and suffering. Yet she was the one who ended up getting murdered and wasn't able to get her revenge. Though it was satisfying to see the stepmom spiralling at Ayesha's hands, I hate the fact that Ayesha didn't let the step mother know about her sister's existence. She didn't even bother telling Sean what her name was. Tiktokers were raving about Ayesha, who cared about no one but her sister, but I feel like she might've been envious of her? IDK but I feel like a longer and more detailed story could've been much greater!

Overall 3/5 mainly because of the art and the idea behind the story.

So I found out about this manhua on the top manhua on MAL. It definitely has the Cinderella mix with a touch of Tim Burton. At first glance, the art looked quite unique, especially with the faces looking like they were handpainted.

I found the characters were decent enough like Sean and Ayeshah are pretty interesting characters. Like you do want to know more on what their intentions were in order to get back at the stepmother. I do wish though that the ending had a satisfying results. I felt we were looking at totally different characters altogether. Yeah the author wasn't really focusing much on the plot tbh with this series unfortunately.

Art is gorgeous but the story well... she could have at least picked one of the pretty step brothers.

Firstly, the art is absolutely gorgeous. By far my favourite part of the book, I have never seen such beautiful illustrations, but that doesn't overshadow the storyline being.. interesting?

I'll start with what I liked, which was aspects of the story which I won't spoil, but there was only a few glimpses into what I actually enjoyed. What I didn't like was her relationship with her brother (iykyk), and I wish that dynamics between her and the rest of the family would've been more interesting, maybe even intense.

I wish there was more rage, coming from Ayeshah because her story is truly horrific. I wish they leant more into the haunting that Lady Sylvia experiences due to her own actions, among other things.

First of all, the art is SPLENDID, DIVINE. Even if you don't want to read this, please take a look at the art. This can easily be considered the best art I've seen in a manga/manhua.

A morbid forest where lies a murder, an unsolved mystery and a certain orphan girl: Ayeshah, living with her mysterious step-mother and her three sons. Even though Ayeshah is looking like an innocent ray of sunshine, what she's hiding is way bigger than her secret forest's trees...

The art is fantastic, i feel like watch a whole movie. The gesture, expression, everything is perfect. The author really succeed create a dark atmosphere with the art. The story is little bit fast paced. But i still enjoyed the twist and all.

I really hope the new version will be better and more detailed than this (although this version is already perfect)

Note: This is my rating and review for the entire series.

This series has some of the greatest artwork in any graphic novels type stories that I’ve read. The panels art gruesome and unsettling (in a good way) and the story, though very short, does its job getting its message across.

It’s dark and suspenseful, if that’s to your liking.

Gorgeous art with rushed and mediocre story. No twist surprised me, nothing but visuals impressed me. I think the author is better off working as an illustrator.
Ayeshah wasn't developed enough to bring any captivating characteristics to her, making me understand and support her revenge but feeling nothing towards her.

One of the best art styles I have come across with, utterly haunting and expressive. The story didn't offer much, I didn't care for the characters as they were not fleshed out and engaging. Still an enjoyable read overall as I was captivated by the art.

This is great. The story is interesting, it's like a dark retelling of Cinderella. I'm not usually into fairytale-inspired books or manga, but I like it. The artstyle is also quite unique, it looks like a painting.

This is a bit more then just a darker twist of the snow white take. The story is well thought out and hard to break away from and the artwork is beautiful. I loved reading this story.
