Zack and his friends are off to space camp on a new planet in the fourteenth Galaxy Zack adventure.
Camp Among the Stars!
Summer vacation is finally here and Zack is pumped for space camp! He can’t wait to play galactic games, tell scary stories, and go on crazy camping adventures with new friends. But when there’s trouble between his cabin mates, it’s up to Zack to bring everyone together. Will he be able to find a solution before the entire summer is ruined?
With easy-to-read language and illustrations on almost every page, the Galaxy Zack chapter books are perfect for beginning readers.
Zack and his sisters, Charlotte and Cathy (twins), truly are some of the most spoiled children I've ever heard of. Zack and his Nebulon best friend Drake are going to yet another planet, Sylvan. This time for a summer camp. The twins are going to Planet Aria for a glee camp. It's already costly to send three kids to a summer camp. Imagine the cost of sending three kids to summer camps via interplanetary travel. Goodness. The summer camp you see is Zack's and Drake's. What O'Ryan and Kraft out together looks enjoyable, but I will say the return of a bully-turned-friend storyline doesn't come to me with believability. It's a nice idea and can be used in a story to teach kids to be nice to one another. So, 2 stars This is an okay sequel.
At the end of this book I talked to my kid about summer camp and he burst into tears and said "I don't want to go away without you dad." Melted my heart.
Zack and Drake are super excited to be off to space camp together. Many aspects of camp are fun, but one of their cabinmates isn't very nice and is picking on their 4th cabinmate. They have to work together for many of the camp challenges, but will they figure out how to work as a team before camp is over?
I like that this addressed why many kids act out and bully others in a new experience. It is a helpful reminder that insecurity is often at the root of such behavior. I like how Zack and Drake address things and the positive resolution is heartwarming. The scifi setting lends itself to some very creative new spins on typical camping activities that I enjoyed reading about and seeing in the illustrations. Definitely imaginative. Hand this to kids who like friendship stories, or who love imaginative camp tales.
Notes on content: No language issues or sexual content. Some bullying, and a camper gets lost, but there are positive endings to both.
