This was a really great short story, approximately 90 pages, of a romance that is finally getting a chance to happen.
When Austin returns home after winning the superbowl he thought he would be welcomed with open arms. Instead he is faced with animosity, from everyone except from the one girl who has always treated him like crap. And all because of something he couldn't control, or could he?
Mia has been keeping her feelings bottled up due to being afraid that whoever she loves will end up leavng her. So when her long time crush comes back home she is excited but quite a bit sad as well. Because he's getting married.
When a well meaning town decides to take your happiness in their own hands, finally seeing someone for who they are, and second chance romance this book has it all with the potential for a HEA.
This is also a steamy short story, but not just because of the sex. It is steamy because of the wraw emotion, and hopeful dreams that pop out of this novellete and hits you smack in the chest.
I would recommend this to all Katie Lane, and romance lovers.
This is a standalone novellete.

Austin Reeves is heading to his hometown of Bramble, Texas during his off season with the San Diego Chargers. He's anxious to show off his Super Bowl ring and finalize plans for his upcoming wedding to his movie star fiancé. But he doesn't get the welcome he was expecting. It seems the whole town is angry with him. He's confused about why his hometown would act this way but he's not surprised to get the cold shoulder from sexy Mia Cates. She never liked him anyway. Especially ever since he kissed her back in high school.
Mia Cates is an expert at hiding her feelings. She's been doing it since she was a little girl. So when Austin Reeves returns to town, she's determined to not let him know that she's been in love with him since she was a teenager. She didn't expect Austin to notice her though and she certainly didn't expect another kiss.
What a great story! It has the triple S factor- sweet, sexy, and silly. The characters in the town of Bramble had me laughing out loud. And the sparks between Austin and Mia kept me sighing. I'd read Katie Lane before and I absolutely love her but this was my first book in her Deep In The Heart Of Texas series. How did I miss this? I'll be starting this series from the beginning for sure! A Book Obsessed Chicks Review Team Selection

When you are the hometown boy that made it good in the NFL, you won the coveted Super Bowl and have the ring to prove it, you kind of expect your return home to be filled with fanfare and fireworks. But that is not what happened to Austin Reeves when he returns to Bramble, TX. . He knew people would be a little bit miffed that he played for a team that was not in Texas, but to be shunned so openly. There was one person who did welcome him back, not neccearaly with open arms at first, Mia Cates. She has loved Austin from afar. The whole town knew it, well that is except Austin.
Now Austin is back to get married… But the Mia has a plan, and let’s face it, if you read Katie Lane’s Bramble series, you know the whole town has a plan. But it does not jive with Austin and his Fiancé’. But will one kiss with Mia change those plans….
This was a wonderful short novella to read, and it’s it brings us back to the quirky town of Bramble and all the inhabitants who just want to show that they care about the people who live here and if you fall in love with a Bramble citizen, well just be prepared for the whole town to help you on the road to matrimony their way. But you will be happy you did in the end. I loved this wrap up to the series and I know all who read it will too.

Good old boy made good, Austin Reeves has prepared his triumphal return home to Bramble. The college football hero now his Super Bowl ring to show, as well as prepare his upcoming wedding to movie actress Suzette Duquette. Austin wanted a small wedding, but Suzette’s publicist wanted a Hollywood extravaganza, so that’s what it shall be. Austin has braced himself for a Texas-size welcome, and his first greeting is not quite what he expected. And neither is the second one. In fact, there is no greeting at all!

Mia Cates, who is now a schoolteacher, has had a crush on Austin since high school; everybody knows except Austin. She’s resigned herself, and has tried to move on, but upon seeing Austin again, all the old feelings resurface. And boy, has Mia changed!

MY BIG FAT TEXAS WEDDING is so much fun and totally Texas! Ms. Lane’s descriptions are short but so precise, everything is crystal clear and I got a great feel of the small town of Bramble. The author’s prose is flowing, eloquent, and often very funny. The sex scene is positively scrumptious, and I loved how Ms. Lane handled a couple of delicate situations with unusual aplomb and flair. There are several secondary characters, developed with as much care as Mia and Austin, and however ordinary or quirky as they appear, they are never over the top, but Texas-sized personalities, and very relatable; I liked every single one of them. MY BIG FAT TEXAS WEDDING is one of those seemingly simple stories that turns out to be simply brilliant because it flows impeccably from beginning to end, the writing is seamless and tinted with an irresistible Texas flavour that permeates every page, and potentially tricky situations are masterfully handled.

MY BIG FAT TEXAS WEDDING was the first book I’d ever read by Katie Lane, and it certainly won’t be my last; I just loved, loved, loved it!

"My Big Fat Texas Wedding" by Katie Lane is book number eight in the "Deep in the Heart of Texas" series. This can be read as a standalone, but I want to go back and read the others in this series. This is Super Bowl Champion, Austin Reeves and school teacher, Mia Cates' story.

This is a great second chance romance quick read. The story takes place in a small west Texas town. The descriptions of the people and town reminded me so much of the west Texas towns I've lived in years ago. It made me homesick. I could relate to the way Austin described driving back into his hometown. "Dust devils swirled amid the mesquite like mini tornadoes, and tumbleweeds bounced across the two-lane highway... He smiled. Damn, it was good to be home."

Austin is engaged to a movie star and he is back home to get things organized for his upcoming wedding. When he arrives in town, he doesn't get the welcome from his hometown people that he expected. The town people have their own agenda and nothing is going to get in their way. Don't under-estimate what small town communities can do. They were very clever and sneaky. You will be laughing at what the people of Bramble do to manipulate their way. There is something about purple hair.

Mia had always been attracted to Austin. She never felt she was deserving so she acted like she hated him. Now, that Austin is back in town and will be married soon, Mia knows she has to move on. Well, moving on doesn't always work out.

Austin and Mia get put in situations where they end up spending time together. The chemistry between them was steamy and hot. Will they ignore this chemistry and attraction between them?

Katie Lane's stories never disappoint! She has a unique way of getting your attention right from the start and keeping it throughout the book. So, get cozy and escape for a little while with Austin, Mia, and the wonderful people of Bramble, Texas. A fun and entertaining read!

My Big Fat Texas Wedding, the newest installment set in Bramble, Texas, in Katie Lane's Deep in the Heart of Texas series. In this book, we catch up with young Austin Reeves and Mia Cates, who are now all grown up. Austin is now a Super Bowl Champion and ready to wed a Hollywood starlet. Mia is now a math teacher in Bramble.

Austin returns to Bramble so he can have his wedding there and share in his glory with his hometown, a place where all his loved ones are. But he never expects the cold shoulder welcome. And in true Bramble fashion, they give him a doozy of a welcome! He doesn't understand what is happening and he goes in search of some answers....and what he finds is Mia Cates like he's never seen him before.

What ensues is absolutely bonkers but in such a good way. Nothing has changed in Bramble since our last story, with the town folks still not having learned the lesson to let people be. I love that we see a lot of our favorite characters return in this novella - from Faith, Hope & Shirlene, to Kenny Gene and Rachel Dean. As much as the story itself is gold, these secondary characters are Bramble and there wouldn't be a story without some shenanigans courtesy of this wacky town!

Mia and Austin are fantastic together, especially once they finally realize and acknowledge the attraction. They fairly sizzle the pages!

This book is everything I wanted in our return to Bramble and reminds me again just why I love the town and the people. And it really makes me hope there's more to come from another generation of Bramble!!! And after the little nugget about the scamp Jesse and his current occupation (jaw-drops!), I really hope we get a story for him!!!

The people of Bramble are a little crazy but they are loyal to their people. Austin returns home with a Super Bowl ring and plans to marry his Hollywood sweetheart right there in Bramble. He should be the town hero, only for some reason they are mad at him and he hasn't a clue why, ok yes he beat their precious Cowboys but he was only doing his job.
Mia has been in love with Austin forever that's why she's leaving town during the nuptials. Then Austin ends up on her doorstep confused and hurt, what's a girl to do. She thinks she knows why the townspeople are mad at Austin but is she right.
This all makes for a fun, sweet, hilarious story, and easily makes it a 5 star book. If you want a quick and enjoyable read I totally recommend this book.

Love Katie Lane's books and with My Big Fat Texas Wedding she pulled me into the book and made me feel like I was right there. Everyone in Bramble are not happy with Austin so they make it known to him. Mia was this once shy girl who is now a beautiful young women who is still in love with Austin despite his ways when they were younger and now. The good people of Bramble shows Austin what has been right there in front of him to be happy. This book is short, a really fun read and I highly recommend this book.

Another awesome book from Katie Lane and the town of Bramble, Texas. Ms. Lane knows how to bring a small town full of quirky, nosy and lovable towns people to life and make you want to live amongst them.
Austin Reeves comes home to Bramble for his wedding and is meet by a town of angry people, not at all what he expected. Not understanding what's going on he goes to the one person he's sure to tell him what's going on, Mia Cates. She's never liked him anyways or so he thought.

As a devoted fan of Katie Lane’s Deep in the Heart of Texas series I thoroughly enjoyed this final little novella that ended the series. Well ended the series may be the wrong description because the final full length book The Last Cowboy in Texas was really the finale. But this book gave me a chance to return to Bramble Texas and visit with not only the main characters in this book Mia Cates and Austin Reeves but also the three women who laid the foundation of the series and of course the crazy good hearted citizens of Bramble who provided me with so many laughs. When this series opened twin sisters Faith and Hope and Hope’s BFF Shirleen were all about 30 years old and about to find the loves of their lives and their happily ever afters. Mia and Austin were 16 years old at the time. Now it’s 12 years later and Faith, Hope and Shirleen are in their early forties raising their families with their husbands, Slate, Colt and Billy. Along with Mia we get a peek at what is going on with the other children Shirleen and Billy adopted with the exception of Adaline who would have been just a year or so older than Faith and Hope’s daughters Daisy and Daffodil by my estimation. Not even an appearance in her big sister’s wedding, which really seems odd, unless I somehow missed it.
Austin and Mia are now the age these couples were when they fell in love. Austin is returning home to Bramble to plan his wedding to a Hollywood starlet Suzette , expecting to be welcomed as the conquering hero having just won a Super Bowl and being named MVP of the game as the San Diego Chargers star quarterback. Mia is teaching math at the local high school where Faith also teaches. What Austin doesn’t know is that the good folks of Bramble are not happy with his choice for a wife because unbeknownst to both Austin and Mia, they are all aware of the fact that Mia has been in love with Austin since the day they met. In fact while Austin had always been fascinated by Mia she had led him to believe she didn’t even like him. To the folks of Bramble’s way of thinking there’s only one woman Austin should be marrying and that woman is Mia Cates so as only they can do, they set about to make it happen. Which of course leads to plenty of hilarity. Mia because of her early life as the child of a drug addict who got thrown into the foster care system has a lot of self-esteem and trust issues to work through which nearly scuttles the relationship she’s spent the past decade plus dreaming of just as its getting started. Fortunately she has her mom, Hope and Faith to guide her and an entire town that won’t allow Austin to give up on her. Fun short story. A must for all fans of this series.

Fans of the Deep in the Heart of Texas series should enjoy this novella which gives us the story of two of the kids we met through out the series.

Austin Reeves and his mom moved to Bramble, Texas after his parent divorced. He was a bit lost and a trouble maker until he join the high school football team and with the help of his coach Slate Calhoun (hero from the first book) became the star quarter back of the team who eventually went on to play pro football and just won his first Superbowl.

Mia Cates was the teenager that had run away with 3 very young foster children from their abusive foster home and ended up hiding out in an empty trailer in Bramble. Turns out the trailer was owned by Shirlene (heroine in the 3rd book) who ended up taking them in and eventually adopting them with her husband.

Mia and Austin are now grown and she is a school teacher in Bramble and Austin a big time football player that lives in California. Austin is engaged to a movie star and wants to have the wedding in the town that welcomed him as a kid and where he has all his fondest childhood memories. He's come back to town expecting to get a hero's welcome and instead he gets shut out by the whole town. (btw my heart broke for him with the way everyone treated him)

If you've read this series you know that the town is full of busy bodies. They meddle in people's loves lives to the point of almost being criminal. Beside his old coach and his wife, Mia is the only one that will talk to him and even that is with a lot of animosity. Plenty of laughs through out as Mia and Austin come to terms with past feelings, past and current misconceptions and realizing that their love has been many years in the making – it just took some time for their stars to align.

Perfect ending

I am so happy I got to read Austin and Mia's story. I have been a fan of the Deep in the Heart of Texas series for a long time now and getting to read this love story feels like watching a series finale for my favorite tv show. I loved revisting Bramble one last time and reading the love story I have been wondering about for a few books now.

My Big Fat Texas Wedding ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Written by Katie Lane

When Super Bowl star Austin Reeves returns to his beloved home town in Bramble, Texas he is excited to see all the folks he loves. However, he is not received with joy or the welcome he anticipated. He soon realizes the towns people despise him and he finds himself confused by their behavior.

Austin believes the town has issues with him not throwing the Super Bowl for the San Diego Chargers in favor of their Texas team. He soon learns the town folks harbor resentment over him planning to marry a Hollywood star over their town sweetheart Mia Cates.

Mia has never given Austin any indication that she had any feelings for him. Austin in high school attempted a friendship and even kissed her. Mia has carried a torch for Austin for years but she has closed herself off to all love for fear of rejection. As an adopted child she has never felt fully worthy or accepted for herself.

I have never read a Katie Lane book before and I just adore how she ignites her characters right off the pages into your heart. You feel their emotions be it love or anger. This was a short novella but well deserving of five stars.

The people of Bramble, Texas are furious with their hometown hero, Austin Reeves, and he can’t figure out why. Austin has come home to get ready for his wedding to Suzette Marquette, Hollywood Star and everyone in town have make him feel very unwelcome. When he runs into an old friend, Mia Cates, he is confused as to how she makes him feel. He starts questioning everything in his life until he doesn’t know whether to stay or go.

This was such a fun read and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I laughed out loud at some of the antics of the townspeople who definitely have meddling in other people’s lives down to an art. My heart went out to Austin when he was told about Mia’s feelings for him. He had no idea and it just sent him into a tailspin. There were so many cute characters in this story that it made me want to live in a town like this because you could feel the love and care they had for each other. The ending was with this couple was perfect!

Expecting a warm welcome when he returned to Bramble, Texas, Austin Reeves is totally taken back by the open hostility from people he thought were friends and who loved him. This opens the book and takes you through his bafflement as to why a Super Bowl champ is treated this way.
As he tries to figure out what is going on, he meets up with Mia Cates who tries to hid her feelings for him since he is home to marry an actress.
One thing after another keeps happening to him and confusion abounds so that you have to keep reading to find out what happens.
Will he be able to re-establish the camaraderie with the hometown folks and find his HEA. Will Mia get over her heartache and have a happy ending too?
Sweet romance from deep in the heart of Texas.

I just fell in love with the people of the town of Bramble. Austin Reeves is coming home to the town of Bramble to plan his big wedding to this actress named Suzette. He has hired wedding planner after wedding planner but they keep quitting.

Austin is excited to be returning home since he won the super bowl and has the ring to prove it. He anticipates a huge welcoming party, parade and the works. Boy is he surprised that everyone in the town hates him.

This book was full of surprises and you just can't put it down. I have not read the other books in this series but it didn't matter I never felt like I was missing something or lost in this book.

A great short story that you won't want to miss.

Back in his hometown to marry a star, football athlete Austin thinks the town will welcome him with a big great greeting but all he got from them was the could shoulder. Here's what happen when the people in town do not mind their own business and intend to see Austin marry Mia, now the schoolteacher, who loved him since she was fifteen.

Not bad but I expected more. I know it's a short story but still everything went too fast. Ready to marry Suzette one moment, in love with Mia the next. It was sweet to see Austin still got the cowboy hat Slade gave him in book one and it's was funny when Kenny Gene arrested him.

It sounded like it might be a cute story but it starts off annoying. Austin come home a local hero and instead everyone is angry with him but a librarian looks quite different from school. Pretty much the the story is the townspeople being mean to him and Austin not being quite sure. He is engaged to a Hollywood actress and since he wants to be married in town he sends wedding planners ahead but they all leave for varies reasons. Don't want to say any spoilers but the town being angry at Austin really was not their business. Annoying, not fun would not recommend.

In My Big Fat Texas Wedding, Katie Lane takes us back to Bramble and the hometown sweethearts of Mia and Austin. Both are all grown up now and very deserving of their HEA. Once again the town thinks they know best and meddle to their heart’s content. For readers this means a fun visit back to the town we love and all our favorite characters. I loved going back to Bramble, as I’m sure long-time readers will. If you are new here, well, pull up a chair, grab a drink, and sit a spell. You have a lot of catching up to do.

Love this story

Mia has known and loved Austin for years. Austin feels the same way. Neither admit to it and in fact Mia acts like she can't stand him. He comes back to town years later and the town gets riled up with him because he is with stuff someone else. The things the town does in order to get them back together is funny. The trials and tribulations that go on in this book is cute. Glad that the town helps them with everything. Love the small town books.
