Story 5/5
Narration 4/5
Delicate Things by Yolanda Olson, is about the chaotic relationship of Bates and Hollis, which began in Wicked Things.
Two disturbed individuals, who have fallen deeply in love with each other. Their way of showing their love to each other is unusual and utterly depraved to say the least. They like to torture and eat their gifts, to each other.
I don't like Bates very much, because most of the time he said things to Hollis that made her feel bad about herself and caused her to behave destructively.
I like Hollis, though. She has struggled all her life with other people's judgment of who she really is. So her sensitive psyche fractured and she became a sociopathic killer, with particular taste.
I like to read about disturbing and mentally unbalanced characters, so I like this story. However, it could have been better. I think more character development would have been good for the story, and more murder details were needed. The ideas for this tale are very good, but the plot has unfortunately not been developed enough.
So why did I rate this book with 5 stars? Because I love that Yolanda Olson's characters are always messed up, and they often do disturbing, gross, and in this particular story gory things.
I hope the next volume will be better. I look forward to reading it.
