The mysterious Nyx, Goddess of Night, enrolls at Mount Olympus Academy in this twenty-second Goddess Girls adventure!
Being the goddess of night is not as easy as it seems-after all, Nyx is in the constant shadow of Eos, Goddess of Light. When Nyx has the chance to go to MOA as an Unsung Hero, she thinks she can finally shine in her own way. But Principal Zeus is so scared of the darkness Nyx brings, he still sleeps with a nightlight! And her arrival seems to bring on more nightmares than sweet dreams. Can Nyx convince everyone that a little darkness is a good thing?

ORIGINAL REVIEW: The writing felt different in this one than the other books. But it was nice to read about and see Nyx work through her anxiety.
Very fun; though I would have loved a bit more time spent getting to know Nyx’s home in the Underworld.
Nyx is the Goddess of night: each evening she rides across the sky to unfurl the darkness and release the stars from her cape. She’s used to being alone but willing to attempt to make friends when two of the goddess girls from Mount Olympis Academy write an essay on the unsung hero: Nyx and invite her to visit for a week.
Shenanigans begin when three nightmare causing critters stow away in Nyx’s bag...
A nice addition to the series. I especially liked the idea of the Goddesses of Dawn and Night becoming friends (though mostly of the pen-pal sort!) Seeing Nyx was great though more time in the Underworld would have made to story and her character bit fuller for me.
The adventures at Mount Olympus Academy continue with the arrival of "Unsung Hero" exchange student, Nyx. Nyx is a goddess who resides in the Underworld, and is responsible for overseeing the changing of day to night. I loved the introduction of her character, as well as several others including the nightmare-inducing Oneroi, and the goddess of Dawn, Eos. Nyx's character is shy, self-conscious, and relatable, and watching her interact with the main goddessgirls is a delightful testament to the power of friendship. Another great edition in the Goddess Girl collection.
Nice little story, introducing a goddess not that many have heard of, Nyx. Also a lesson that really appreciating something is deepened by experiencing its opposite. Nice to see the girls presented as self reliant and able to get out of traps. Recommended for kids too young for Rick Riordan’s books and the ones published by his imprint, Rick Riordan Presents.
Nyx, goddess-girl of the night, struggles with several different things upon her arrival for a temporary stay at Mount Olympus Academy. Crippling shy but wanting to educated people about the importance of night, Nyx is faced with a dilemma between standing up for what she loves and fitting in with her new peers. This was an interesting read, especially since I am also crippling shy but highly opinionated!
I initially didn’t enjoy this book because the main character Nyx was so completely frustrating to me. But then I realized the author was making a very beautiful point.
Girls this age have so many anxieties and fears just like Nyx. They worry about EVERYTHING! However, usually when you are just yourself and you’re nice to those around you then everything works out ok. (Yet - it would be nice if in the real world the pretty and popular girls were confident, nice girls like at MOA instead of highly insecure mean girls.)
I liked reading this book because it was about emotion, daring, and, being okay with you. Finding your place is also in the book, along trust, and hope.
The author could edit with making a little more sense, and a little less details, there are two parts over imagineers like me should skip, they have “bone crunching” but other than that its fine
The Goddess Girls series is delving into lesser known gods and goddesses and providing the reader with a twist to the traditional myth. This book covers Nyx, the goddess of night.
It was a cute Greek Mythology retelling. If you like retellings, Greek Mythology, or want to learn more about Greek Mythology, then the Goddess Girls series might be for you.
Nyx The Mysterious is about the Greek Goddess Nyx, goddess of the night. It also has various gods and goddesses mentioned throughout the storyline.
Goddess Girl Nyx is the goddness of the night! Being Goddness of the night is not easy because most people enjoy the daylight thus making Goddess of the day Eos, more popular. When Nyx is invited to visit Mount Olympus Academy she is excited because she wants to help other to like the night and not be afraid of the dark. She strikes up friendships with BFFs Goddesses Athena, Artemis, Aphrodite and Persephone, though other students at Mount Olympus are a bit afraid of Nyx because of her dark clothing and because she is goddess of the dark, of nightime. Nix is followed by the Oneiroi who bring nightmares to many. She is also trapped in a cave and unable to bring forth the night resulting in residents of MOA being up all night! Eventually she gets free, night returns and all realize the both light and dark are important! Another delightful Goddess Girls story. What is wonderful about this series is how life concepts like joy and sadness, courage and fear, are balanced aspects of life that like light and dark are part of all life.
The story wasn't based on any particular myth as far as I could tell but was an enjoyable read. It includes some of the more minor characters of mythology: Oneiroi, Echidna, Eos, as well as Nyx, goddess of night. It focused primarily on Nyx trying to figure out how to be herself but still fit in and help others see the benefits of night. Nyx's struggles were interesting, as was having the primary narrator feeling socially awkward and self-conscious.
So good!!! I love this series!!! I know I’m like “too old” for it now but childhood favorite & you never really outgrow mythology, amiright? Yeah They did say goth a lil much but whatever it’s a kids book Very cute. I adore the goddessgirls ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Also. Cover is gorgeous.
It was wonderful out of the 13 goddess girls books i have, this one was the best tied along with hestia the invisible. They were both so entertaining. I LOVE this series i can't wait to review the others. Also, i want to get more so i can review them. Bye Bye
