I think this is one of my favorite volumes of the series: Rock Paper Scissors begins. It’s one of the most stressful games… and we see SO much hilarity in the backstories of random characters that we haven’t paid attention to, plus development for ones we have. I’m probably partial to this volume because of Natsumegu. ❤️

The Reversi game finally comes to a long awaited end. At this point in the story, cube 109 has now been reduced to just 22 survivors. Things are really getting serious now. Sein shows up and explains the team format is now gone, and everyone will be competing 1 on 1 (versus Sein himself) in a game of Rock, Paper, Scissors. We get to see all 22 people play; we are often given backstory on each character before it's there turn. This definitely helps to see these characters in a new, deeper way. The volume comes to a conclusion with just two people left to play: Akashi and Ushimitsu. Another absolute banger. 5/5

Best Game so Far

Who would ever guess that rock paper scissors could ever be so interesting? Definitely a high point for me so far.
