Alex de Campi is a New York-based writer with an extensive backlist of critically-acclaimed graphic novels including Eisner-nominated heist noir Bad Girls (Simon & Schuster) and Twisted Romance (Image Comics). Her most recent book was her debut prose novel The Scottish Boy (Unbound). She lives with her daughter, their cat, and a Deafblind pit bull named Tango.
This entire volume was thoroughly enjoyable. As usual, Amy Mebberson's art was one of my favorite parts. As for the stories, I enjoyed each and every one of them a great deal, but the Fluttershy/Zecora story definitely stands out as my favorite.
I am a huuge MLP fan! And these books were just joyous and beautiful! I like how not all stories have the same graphics. And the beautiful ending illustrations are divine! A wonderful read for me after my huge reading slump.
I do love a good graphic novel and I'm also a fan of My Little Pony: FiM so this was a fun read indeed! I especially liked some of the more outrageous friendship team ups like Granny Smith and Film and Flam, Fluttershy and Iron Will and Pinkie and Twilight. 😊
This book contains 12 stories, and only the first one was weak (both artistically and story-wise). In Princess Celestia and Spike, we got to see a more active Celestia, which was a treat. In terms of art, one of the highlights was a full-page parody of the classic painting "American Gothic," featuring Fluttershy and Iron Will.
