The Thing About Love

Rate this book
An emotional and unforgettable new romance from New York Times bestselling author Kim Karr.

The whole stethoscope-and-white coat thing isn’t my cup of tea.

I prefer a man with an artistic vein in his body. 9 - 5 hours. And I can definitely do without the half-lidded, sleepy bedroom eyes. (Okay, so those are kind of sexy.)

Tall, dark, and handsome doesn’t change the fact that he’s arrogant, cocky, and rude.
Not that I care, but he’s made it clear he wants nothing to do with a quirky girl like me, which is why he said no.

Turns out no isn’t an option.

I have a quickie wedding to plan, and Dr. Jake Kissinger doesn’t have a choice. He looks at our situation like he’s stuck with me, but in reality I’m stuck with him. Stuck with his pouty mouth. His long, lean body. And stuck with those loose, low riding scrub pants. (Okay, so the doctor thing is growing on me.)

When spending time together turns into more than it should, I know I’m in trouble.
He isn’t supposed to make my heart pound.
I’m not supposed to make him look twice.
And we aren’t supposed to spend the night together. (Okay, so he has more than one artistic vein in his body, and other places.)

Falling for him is definitely a mistake.

Here’s the thing…
Jake is unavailable, and I know it.
Just not in the way you might think.

I guess you can’t have your cake and eat it too.

Butterflies swarmed my belly, my throat tightened, and when he full on kissed me, I felt like he was my home.
It was a feeling I hadn’t felt in a very long time.

And right then I knew nothing would ever be the same in my life when he left.

THE THING ABOUT LOVE is a sexy, funny, and emotional read. This was my first Kim Karr book and I can guarantee that it won’t be my last. I really enjoyed this ”enemies-to-lovers” romance. The pacing of the story was perfect and kept me thoroughly entertained. The Heroine was a likable character and the Hero had the right amount of sex appeal and cocky attitude that I love in a really good book boyfriend.

Juliette Easton has been running her Uncle’s wedding planning business and up until she took over, it had been doing really well, but now they are nearly bankrupt. She has the chance of turning things around if she can convince the bride from one of Atlanta’s wealthiest and influential families to hire Jules to plan her wedding. Things get off to a rocky start when she throws cake at the bride’s brother’s face after an innocent misunderstanding. Doctor Jake Kissinger is not at all pleased with the feisty wedding planner but he can’t ignore his strong attraction to her.

At first, Jake isn’t thrilled with the idea of hiring Juliette as his little sister’s wedding planner. But when his terminally ill grandmother asks for the wedding to be pushed up as early as possible so that she can see her granddaughter married before she passes on, Jake has no other choice but to hire Juliette as she’s the only wedding planner that is desperate enough to pull off the wedding of the century in under five weeks.

Things get downright steamy when Jake and Jules are forced to spend time together planning all of the wedding details while the bride and groom are away at college. Neither of them is looking for anything long-term at the moment, so they agree to keep things strictly physical. But sometimes feelings can develop between two people who share out of this world sexual chemistry and soon the couple will have to deal with having to let go of something they know is so right. They both hold on to deeply rooted pain from their pasts. Jake feels tremendous guilt over his father’s death and thinks that if he moves back to New York and works in the same hospital that his dad did, that somehow he’s atoning for his past transgressions.

The story was just about perfect had it not been for the coincidence with Jake’s and Juliette’s tragic pasts. It was the only tiny piece of the story that I found fault with but it’s so minor that it did very little to affect my enjoyment.

Here are my overall ratings on the book:

Hero: 4.5
Heroine: 4
Plot: 4
Angst: 4
Steam: 5
Chemistry Between Hero & Heroine: 5

THE THING ABOUT LOVE releases on January 3rd! It’s worth a one-click. There are two more standalones planned and believe me you will want to meet Jaxson and Finn when their books come out!

Here's The Thing About Love.......

You don’t get to pick love, it just happens.
There’s no control over it...

Kim Karr takes us on a sweet, emotional, sexy, and amazing journey of finding that once in a lifetime love.
Jules is hired to plan and organize Dr. Jake Kissinger’s sisters wedding. When they first meet, its instant attraction. Doesn’t mean they get along, at all. Jake doesn’t even want to hire Jules but doesn’t have a choice when his grandmother has weeks left to live after her battle with cancer is coming to an end. Jake’s sister is off at college which leaves him to plan everything meaning he is left to spend a lot of time with Jules. Jake's forced to work with the woman he's been trying to avoid...

The build of the relationship between Jake & Juliette (Jules given name) is amazing. The banter, the chemistry, the passion these two have is Steamy. BUT Juliette knows it’s all going to come to a screeching halt when Jake leaves for New York to pursue a job his deceased father had. Do you fight for a relationship that the other person can so easily walk away from or do you do what ever you have to do to save it??

I throughly enjoyed this story. I loved Jake and Juliette. They are sweet, they are sexy together and apart😉, and they both just want to be loved by their one person who was suppose to love them. So if you’re looking for fun and sweet, this is one for you. A stand alone read.

I can't wait to see what this author does next with these supporting characters!!!

THE THING ABOUT LOVE: Is a sexy emotional standalone novel by Kim Karr. Spoken in ‘Dual Perspectives’ In this we meet Jules & Jack

This story wasn’t just about love, it was about surviving even when the odds are stacked against you.

In this we meet quirky wedding planner Jules and sexy hot delectable Dr Jake Kissinger (aka Dr. Kiss), these two meet in such an unconventional way which set up for a funny hilarious first meeting which didn’t really go to plan when Jules strives to make a first impression to potential new clients.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Jules is hired to organise Jake’s sister’s wedding after a rough start with the delectable hot doctor if that wasn’t bad enough they have been paired up to bring the wedding of the century fit for a Queen.

From the day I met him we were hard and soft, up and down. Both good and bad. Gentle and Rough.

So many obstacles are out to trip them up, she vowed she would never become attracted to such a pompous ass (famous last words) and he is sworn off love.

Once the wedding is done and dusted Jake is chasing his new adventure in a new city that has been mapped out for him since his younger years of following in his late father's footsteps working in the trauma unit at one of New York's finest hospitals.

We’re also introduced to Jules’s cousin who takes part in bare knuckled underground fights without protection, choke holds, groin attacks, with the only rule being that there were no rules. And a past love of Jules’s which I hope we get more of a glimpse into these two secondary characters.

This was a super cute, sugary sweet, sexy as sin read, I giggled, I swooned, I sighed my heart turned to mush, once I started reading this I couldn't put it down, for me it was a unique enjoyable read that I highly recommend.

Anyone who has paid attention to the books I read or the authors I one-click, you’d know that Kim Karr’s collection always makes the cut. While I haven’t read everything she’s written (yet), I’ve read tons of her books. So when I say that The Thing About Love was unlike anything I’ve read by her so far, you know that I’m onto something.

Juliette was having a really rough go of it. She took over her uncle’s successful event planning business and she’s failing at it. While she’s great at creating the visual and putting the event together, the actual day-to-day operations go over her head. She’s drowning and she needs one stellar client to put things back on track. The only thing standing in the way of her landing her latest potential client is the brother, Dr. Jake Kissinger, or Dr. Kiss, who is decidedly unimpressed with Jules, especially after she throws a cake in his face.

I’ve gotta say, that cake did sound super delicious though. Well, circumstances change and all of a sudden the wedding has to be rushed. So lucky for Juliette, her schedule’s wide open. The only hitch… she has to work with Jake. But then things turn out for the better because these two finally act on the sparks that fired off from their first meeting. Unfortunately, there’s an unspoken deadline to their romance. Will their hearts come out whole on the other side?

★★★★★★

As I said, this book was a bit different from what I’m used to from this author. It had heavy doses of pain that threaded throughout the story that stayed with me right to the end. It’s never easy to tackle an event that still gives ripples of anguish through many of us who witnessed it. I’m thrilled that the author wove this tragedy into the plot and tied it to the characters. It added another element of depth to their relationship and continued to strengthen the traces of fate that could be found everywhere.

Both Jake and Juliette were fighting their own personal demons and it was difficult to watch. It made me just want to give them huge hugs. Especially Jake. His guilt was potent and the driving force for everything he did. The fact that his demons rode him so hard for most of this story made me want more of him. It felt like from one second to the next he was fighting the inevitable connection he had with Jules and then diving headfirst into forever. I think I needed more of his perspective to make this transition truly believable.

Regardless, what won me over from the start, aside from Juliette’s awkward, clumsy quirkiness, was the banter between her and Jake. It was hard to get a real read on him but I loved the ways Juliette tried to decipher the meaning behind his words, looks and actions. I was busy trying to figure him out right along with her. Together, these two were insanely hot and sweet, which is one of my favorite combinations.

Now I’m going to not-so-patiently wait for Jaxson and Finn’s books. These side characters have me curious as all heck and I’m desperate for their happy endings!!

It was an okay read. Simple. I couldn't enjoy the book very much because the female MC's personality was annoying. She was quite whinny and her behavior was childlike. Often times, she reminded me of a kid throwing a temper tantrum.

The writing wasn't very good either. It was okay. I'm not sure how long this author has been writing but it feels like a new author breaking into the business. That's all well and good, everyone has to start somewhere.

I'm giving this book an A for effort and a C for execution. I may come back in the future to try one of her books again but I'm won't be rushing out anytime soon.

I'm trying really hard to think about why I feel inclined to give this 3 stars instead of 4. The Thing About Love was funny in places, sure. I for one laughed so hard I cried in parts of this book. It was lighthearted and I enjoyed the two main characters and many of the others. However, something was missing for me. I think it just didn't have enough to it. I think I was missing some angst. Overall it was a funny, sexy read that I enjoyed a lot.

In short:
Hero 4/5 | Heroine 4/5 | Plot (Point, Originality) 4/5 | Writing Style 3/5 | Steam 3/5 | Romance 4/5 | Angst-Suspense 2/5 | Darkness 0/5 | Humor 4/5 | Secondary Characters 3/5 | Drama-Conflict 3/5 | Mystery 0/5 | Twists 3/5 | Pacing Steady | Action 3/5

Jules is a wedding planner and she loves doing it. She is the owner of the family company, but it has been having difficulties. The company can probably be saved if Jules can become the wedding planner of a famous, rich couple. She only needs to convince the future bride’s brother, Jake, that she’s capable of organizing the big wedding. The first meeting between Jules and Jake wasn’t a pleasant one and it looks like Jules will not get the job. When the wedding needs to happen very soon, Jules is the only one who can do it. Jules and Jake will work together to make his sister’s wedding amazing and this brings them close.

Jules is sweet, passionate, independent and feisty. She loves her job and she works very hard. She hopes to save her company and she really doesn’t want to disappoint her uncle. Jake is smart, caring, hardworking, strong and determined. He’s very close to his little sister and his grandmother.

I loved The Thing About Love! It was another amazing read by the author. It was a little emotional, funny and beautiful. I loved the pace, the writing, the cover and the characters. I also loved Jules and Jake together. There was an attraction between them from the start, but they both aren’t looking for love. They fall in love with each other without them realizing that. I adored the epilogue. It was beautiful.

This was a sexy, sweet romance that will have you swooning in the best way possible. Kim Karr delivered a story that was filled with humor and hot as sin passion and when you have something like that, you can never go wrong.

Being a part of a family business is never easy but taking it over, is even harder. Jules is all about making good first impressions and when you’re a wedding planner, perfection is everything. Planning a wedding to one of the most high profile couple in the state isn’t exactly a cake walk but when a misunderstanding turns into an unforgettable laugh out loud cringe worthy experience, having a doctor on board isn’t always the best thing.

Now working side by side with the sexy doctor who is also the brother of the bride, pulling off the perfect wedding is not a only a must but a necessity. But with the sexual tension so palpable, how long before these two will succumb to their desires ?

I will admit that this started off very slow for me and I didn’t know how this was going to go and I really struggled with it but once I got to the half way mark, it picked up and I loved seeing Jake and Jules come into their own together. I also liked the fact that they were bonded over something that was utterly tragic and painful but it made them stronger for each other at the same time. With some of the best side characters, an over the top wedding, and some sexy delicious scenes, “The thing about Love” will definitely leave you satisfied.

Jules has just taken over her uncle's Atlanta wedding planner company ... and it's not going good!
She needs to get hired for this huge society wedding or her uncle will have to sell the company!

But instead of impressing the bride with the amazing cake she had made, she kinda, accidentally - or not so accidentally - starts a little 'fight' with the brother of the bride!

Sexy Doc Jake!

description

And he is kind of paying for the wedding ... so ... not good!

But even if Jake wanted to stay far away from the crazy - and sexy - wedding lady, he doesn't have a choice. He needs this wedding to happen - and happen fast. And his sister is back at college - so it's on him to help Jules plan a wedding - something he never ever thought he'd do.

Let the fun times begin!

WHAT WILL HAPPEN WITH JULES & JAKE?
WILL THERE BE A HAPPILY EVER AFTER????
READ THE BOOK TO FIND OUT ☺

Adorable!

This story was so funny and cute and sweet right from the first page!
A really adorable romantic comedy
I loved it!

But of course there are also lots of very serious and moving parts too. I might have cried a little .. or a lot☺!

description

We have this really hot and rich and slightly crumpy doctor.

description

And the pretty, but slightly clumsy wedding planner!
Perfect recipe for an amazing romantic comedy!!!

But we also have the sad stories about both their parents and Jake's grandmother. Heartbreaking!

Then there's the introduction into a character who'll get his own book soon - Finn - Jules' cousin. He wants to be an MMA fighter.

And Jules' ex Jaxson will also get his own book. (Btw. Jules accidentally sends him a very erotic video - which she wanted to send to Jake! LOL!)

I really enjoyed reading this book.
It had an amazing feeling to it. Not sure what I mean by that. Maybe it was the southern thing or the no-mega-exaggerated-dramas or the wedding atmosphere. I really loved the feeling that came over me while reading. I know, I'm weird. ☺

The only thing I didn't love-love. Atlanta in the heat of summer! Ugh - I hate heat and it's winter here! So I would've preferred a more winterish book set in a more winterish place - BUT - pfff - that really doesn't have anything to do with the story - that's just me being weird again! ☺

THE THING ABOUT LOVE was an adorable & funny & sexy & heartbreakingly moving Wedding Planner Romance!!! Run to your nearest amazon for your own Dr. Jake - this one is MINE!!!!

Wedding planning can be very stressful time for a newly engaged couple but that is where someone like Juliette comes in, taking all the stress off the couple and giving them the wedding of their dreams.

Juliette has been in love before, in fact she almost got married. Despite breaking up with her fiance, she still believes in love and happy ever afters but has also resigned herself to the fact that it may not happen for her.

Juliette is doing everything she can to save her Uncle’s failing wedding planning business and has a very important client to impress. Funny that she manages to do it by smashing cake in the face of the brother of the bride to be - Jake Kissinger, also sometimes known as Dr Kiss to the women that fawn over him in his job as a doctor. It seems Jules ability to take on Jake has impressed his sister into choosing her as her planner.

Jake Kissinger is a bit of a ladies man, he is the kind of guy with the looks that you don’t look twice at, you look multiple times – that’s if you can even peel your eyes off him the first time. Despite the unconventional first meeting between him and Juliette, there is a very strong simmering attraction between them that they can both feel.

All things aside though, Jake needs Jules help to put together the wedding of his sister’s dreams whilst their grandmother is still alive. This means they will be working very closely together over the next few weeks. And seeing as they will be working so closely, it was only a matter of time before they succumbed to their desire to get naked together.

Just a bit of harmless fun between two people that will never be anything more than that right? Neither of them anticipated just how fast and deep the feelings between them would develop. It wasn’t supposed to be like this. Jules contact with Jake woud end after the wedding and then he will take up his new job in New York just like he had planned.

Here’s the thing about planning things out like that, love can come along at any given, unsuspecting moment and derail everything. It happens when you least expect it, that’s the thing about love.

And this is why I read romance.

I just love finishing a book with a happy sigh.

I enjoyed Jake and Jules journey to finding love.

Jules and Jake didn't have the best of first meetings though and it wasn't exactly insta love.

The thing about love begins with Jules also known as Juliette who is a wedding planner anxiously awaiting a client who is coming to view the incredible cake that has been made and to go over her wedding plans in the hope to get the job, money is tight and business is struggling so landing the wedding of the governors son to his fiance would be the turnaround Juliette needs.

When the handsome, hottie Jake walks in the shop and during conversation about the cake starts to flirt and begins to hit on her then a few minutes later a woman who Jules thinks his fiance walks in. Jules without thinking face plants him with cake, disgusted that a soon to be married man would act that way. When another male walks in behind her Jules knows she has made a mistake. Jake Kissinger is the bride to be's brother.

Jules and Jake are great characters. The truth about love, truly is a story of finding real love and not settling for less.

I reached around 50% before anything happened between Jake and Jules and to be honest I was losing interest but when they got it on, they really got it on.

Jake and Jules had so much chemistry between them, it was so hot.

The thing about love has humour, hotness Great characters, it's told in first person dual pov and leads to a heart warming hea.

Did I mention Jake Kissinger was a doctor too? a hot doctor?

First, can we talk about heroes named Jake? Because, really, this is one of the best names for heroes EVER, so, this and the fact that the book is by Kim Karr and I was willing to volunteer to read over her shoulder as she was writing. (I didn't actually volunteer, but I wanted to, LOL).

Juliette and Jake. So perfect as an enemies to lovers, so what you want from a story like this. Did they have a reason to dislike one another? Yes, they did...he was trying to keep his sister from using her company after a misunderstanding that involved, well, cake. Is it possible for there to be a cake misunderstanding? Yes, there certainly is. But, to find out, you are going to have to read the book.

I loved the intensity of the relationship that is brought by a shared connection. I didn't really see if coming, so the revelation and the depth it gave to their story was perfect. It explained who he was, it explained why he was still willing to leave, to make the choices he was, and it explained why she was willing and able to understand that choice. Anything more would be a spoiler, but I can say safely that I loved the balance the connection of the past and the present gave to the story.

Add in that the sex was hot and the chemistry was believable and you have a story you are going to read in one sitting. I know I did.

I recommend this title.

Amazing!!! 100% amazing..I may have edit this review...Let's see
In this book we meet Jake Kissinger, he's tall, dark and handsome. Plus he's the biggest flirt you'll ever meet. Plus he's a Doctor...what more could any woman want
Juliette Easton is a wedding planner and she's amazing at her job. She cant balance the books for her business, but she can plan a great wedding.
Here's the problem you know what they say about first impressions. Well Juliette makes a very bad one.
Here's the thing Jake actually really needs Juliette's services. This is a story of sadness, laughter and a bit of hurt. All classic Kim Karr, Like I said amazing

Jules Easton has one chance to make a good impression and nail the job to plan the wedding of the year in Atlanta...and if she fails then there is not much hope of keeping her wedding planning business afloat. Unfortunately, Jules tends to be anxious, hyper, klutzy, and a bit impulsive. And one false move against the bride's brother seems to be the final nail in the coffin.

Dr. Jake Kissinger wants his baby sister to have the wedding of her dreams. Although they come from money, their lives have not been easy. Tragedy has shaped them and their family is still going through some hard emotional situations. Jake is a broody, serious, arrogant, and impatient work-a-holic, who is devoted to his family. He also has his own plans sitting on the back burner while he takes care of situations at home.

A little flirting with the quirky wedding planner did not seem like that big a deal...but it certainly got them off on the wrong foot...and subsequently set off a chain of events that would change their lives. Jules and Jake easily manage to push each other's buttons. They are not looking for love, and are not sure they even believe in it. As they are forced to work together, their encounters are full of challenging banter, sexual tension, and avoidance. But eventually they cannot resist the pull and decide to give into their physical urges while making it clear that there could be no emotional attachment and there would be a time frame where it would end.

As their connection and chemistry grows, they begin opening up about the tragedies of their pasts and their pain. Only someone with similar experiences could understand and that just adds a layer of attachment and understanding that they were not supposed to gain. They are both at a crossroads in their lives and have choices to make. They both need to face and try to get over their pasts before they could have a chance at moving on. They know they are going down a dangerous path getting close and knowing the end was going to hurt. But Jake especially cannot see past his own guilt and set plans. And Jules is not sure she is strong enough to fight for it if he is not.

They will have to find their own paths before they could hope to show the other one the way, but will it be too late?

This is about the goodness of love, trust, and healing coming out of tragedy and heartbreak. These two were both really looking for their true home, but were not really sure how to find it and hold onto it. They were so focused on the past, thinking that life and love needed to be perfect, and doing what was expected that it was easy to miss what good was right in front of them. But love can be complicated, hard, messy, impatient, irresistable, all consuming, hopeless, and painful. And it can also be the best thing that has ever happened to someone. It does not have to be perfect, just real.

This ranged from antagonistic, funny, sweet, sexy, romantic and emotional. It was told in dual points of view in present and some critical flashbacks that weaved a complex and tragic background. There were underlying themes and events that added depth. Jake really grew on me as his sweet, sexier, vulnerable side emerged. And I liked Jules spunk, sass, and heart. My heart hurt for all that they went through and were still going through, but I loved them together. I enjoyed the side characters of his sister, Rory and grandmother, Mimi. Her ex, Jaxson, cousin, Finn, and friends Montgomery and Archer also were significant. I am looking forward to hopefully getting more about Jaxson and Finn in future stories.

A sexy, sweet read about frenemies turned lovers

Jules knew she had to nail this job or she would be kissing her uncle's wedding planning company goodbye. Will she still land the job when she thinks the bride to be's fiance is hitting on her and she throws a cake in his face? Oh, did I mention he wasn't the fiance...

The Thing About Love is a hot steamy read with some heartache along the way. I loved the frenemies aspect of the story and felt Jules and Jake's chemistry was amazing and hot, hot, hot!

Jake I found to be incredibly hot and bullheaded. He was funny and sweet as well. Jules I felt was a bit of a disaster at the beginning, but I still felt she was a great character throughout.

This was a great read for me and what a great way to kick off 2018.

After taking over her uncle’s wedding planning business, Jules Easton is trying to land the one wedding that can give her the boost she needs to keep it afloat. See, the girl can plan the heck out of any wedding with the right budget, but she sucks at managing a business.
With the wedding party comes the sexy AF, brooding doctor that rattles her foundation and who also has the power to take this job away from her. Jake Kissinger is sex on legs and flirty, but when Jules jumps to conclusions, she’ll jeopardize everything she’s working for and then some.
I just loved this book. Everything about it. This story is sexy and romantic, but it’s also full of the emotion that comes from grief, pain and a misplaced sense of guilt. It also made me think about people in that situation and what they must have felt or are feeling in real life.
Jake and Jules are destined to be together, “written in the stars” as she says and their story is one that, IMO, should not be missed.

5 stars

paging Dr.Kiss...
paging Dr. Kiss...

If I were a lusty person, the thoughts of a hot single doctor giving me unlimited orgasms might make me drool. (I was total a pile of drool.)

If I were shallow and all about insignificant things, I would make him play doctor with me. (You know you thought it too.)

But Jake is more than the first impression you get. More than Jules first impulsive reaction...but what a first impression.

The Thing About Love is cute, sexy, and sweet. It has some intense history and just enough mystery to keep you twisting for answers.

“Someday, Jake, love will find you. And when it does, you won’t have a choice but to accept it.”

“Suddenly all those cliches I’d made fun of seemed so real. The earth shifted. The ground moved under my feet. I was on cloud nine.”

“What was this between us? We hardly knew each other. We were both at crossroads in our life. And yet, knowing that didn’t seem to change this chemical reaction between us. It should have. It should have been a warning. I didn’t understand it. All I did know was that I wanted to be with him as well. I wanted to touch him. To feel him. Every beautiful inch of him. For as long as I could.”

When I think of romance, this is exactly what I want. I want a story that makes me feel. A story that makes me swoon. A story that pulls emotions out of me and turns my world upside down. And for me, The Thing About Love was exactly what my heart was looking for. This book…It just consumed me from the moment I picked it. From the moment I started reading this book, I just had a feeling it was going to be a special and unique read…And boy was I ever right! The Thing About Love is a beautiful and expected read. I had no idea what my heart would be in store for when I picked up this book and I’ll be the first to tell you, there is nothing I loved more than when a book surprises me. And let me tell you, this book surprised me in the best, best way.

From the moment I met Jules and Jake, I was hooked. The banter and chemistry between the two of them was just explosive. Jake is the sexy, broody, successful doctor. He’s been dealt some pretty tough cards in his life, but nothing means more to him than family. So, when his sister is determined to make him a part of her wedding planning, he’ll do anything to make her happy….And that’s where Jules comes in to play. There is nothing more that Jules loves than planning peoples special days. She is the kind of girl that you just can’t help but fall in love with. She’s smart, beautiful, kind, a bit clumsy, but has a huge heart. She loves love, but sucks when it comes to her own relationships. The last thing Jules ever planned on was Jake. Like I said, their chemistry is explosive and just oozes off the pages. They challenge and push one another. You could tell that these two were meant to be; that fate had brought them together. But, that their course must play out and that they must find their way in order to be happy…

The Thing About Love is a beautiful, honest and heartwarming love story that just captured my heart. From entertaining banter and delicious humor. To sexy good times and swoon worthy moments. To moments that just pulled at your heart and put tears in your eyes. This book hit all the marks for me. The characters are real, raw and easy to connect with. Their story is beautiful and intense at the same time. You will be glued to the pages and hit with a ton of emotions just as I was.

The Thing About Love is so much more than a love story. It is a story of family. A story of hope. It is a story of loss and letting go of the guilt that consumes you. It is a story of finding peace and living. But, most of all, it is a story about taking chances and holding on to love with everything you’ve got. This series is off to one heck of a start and I can not wait to see where this series is going to go next.

4.0 4.5 - This enemies-to-lovers romance is just what the doctor ordered. Juliette is a wedding planner who desperately needs to land a new client. She ends up smashing a piece of cake in her potential client's face and making a horrible impression. Dr. Kiss (Kissinger) is in charge of planning his sister's high profile wedding. He’s working on a tight timeline to get her wedding planned. They end up having to work together and find out that first impressions aren’t always correct.

Juliette and Dr. Kiss were such great characters. I loved the way that Kim was able to take life-changing events and spin them into an emotional ending that hit home for me. This hot and heartfelt romance was written in the stars. I really enjoyed this book!

Kim Karr always gives me a good time while reading her books. The Thing About Love was a fun and sweet story that will for sure make you laugh and smile a lot, and will pull a little on your heart strings at times but most of all will give you a good time.

This is a lighthearted love story between a struggling wedding planner and a sexy Doctor who's too afraid of commitment. These two will keep you on your toes with their sassy convos, sexual chemistry and later on their steamy and sweet rendez-vous.

Whether out of obligation, pressure, or need, his mouth came crashing down over mine in the hardest, heated, and most demanding way. Oh, God, I wanted this. Wanted him. Especially when his tongue pushed inward, hot and sensual. It glided over mine as he licked at the roof of my mouth and swirled around my tongue in the most erotic dance. His lips were so soft. His mouth so hot. His possession unlike any I’d ever experienced.

I seriously enjoyed these two together so much. Their story will for sure ensure you a pleasurable and entertaining time; it's the perfect lighthearted read.

That’s the thing about love, wasn’t it—you don’t get to pick it, it just happens.

Kim Karr has written an emotionally sweet romantic novel that had a storyline that I absolutely loved. It was about a wedding planner and a doctor both being attracted to each other. I loved the way that these two characters were meant for each other and it was obvious that they found their once in a lifetime love with each other. I love the way that the author has written this story in dual point of views and the writing continues to be flawless throughout the story. I feel that readers are able to read more about the main characters and the feelings that the characters experience during the story.

Jules I absolutely adored with the way that she loved making peoples dream weddings come true. I found many moments throughout the book that she made me laugh with some of the things that she got up to and her clumsiness. I really loved the way that she didn’t give up when times were hard.

Jake also known as Dr.Kiss was absolutely dreamy with the sexy way he talked and the way that he looked after his patients. The relationship that Jake had with his grandmother and sister I absolutely loved because it showed how much of a good guy he was with the way that he cared for them and looked after them.

The thing about love is about two people Jake and Jules, who are complete opposites to each other. But circumstances force them to work together to plan the perfect wedding for Jake’s sister’s wedding. But can the explosive chemistry between keep things casual between them or will there be more?

I loved this story so much because it had so much heart and love in this story. This was much more than just a romance story, it looked at grief, loss and family. I think the author did a wonderful job with entwining these themes in the story and the way she did it flawlessly made the story that much more incredible. I really loved all the characters in the story and I really loved the connection between Jules and Jake.

~ 5 North Star Stars ~

I didn’t know what to expect going into this book, but after reading the blurb I knew I had to read it.

I was pleasantly surprised the amount of emotion this story brought out of me. I was laughing at times, swooning at other times, and also crying my eyes out. I think what took me by surprise the most was the background story of Jules and Jake….I wasn’t expecting the topic it covered. This story was both heart wrenching and heart warming.

The Thing About Love is Kim Karr’s newest standalone novel in her newest series. Each book is going to focus on a new character/couple, but we do meet all the other characters in this story. This is an enemies to lovers story and is told in Dual POV. I thought the pace and flow of the story was perfect and I couldn’t help but get swept up in the storyline. I loved the characters that we met….not only Jules and Jake, I loved the secondary characters as well. They all played an important part in this novel.

We follow Jules and Jake’s journey to finding love and forgiveness. Jules is a woman trying to run and takeover her Uncle’s wedding business and is having a hard time with it. Jake is a local ER doctor who would do anything for his sister Rory, except maybe hire the wedding planner she wants….Jules. To say that Jules and Jake’s first meeting was stress filled and also filled with misunderstanding is an understatement. But when Jake’s failing grandma requests that they move Rory’s wedding up so she can be there, Jake knows he has no other choice but to hire Jules. What happens from here is an entertaining and swoony story about two people learning to open up. Can Jules and Jake work out their differences?? Will these two ever find their HEA?? Read this fun filled but also emotional romance story.

I would definitely recommend this book to everyone. I think once you pick up this book, you will find it hard to put down. You will also become invested in the characters and storyline. If you are already a fan of Kim Karr’s writing then you don’t want to miss her latest masterpiece!!!!

"The beautiful end!"

After finishing this story those words were so true. But it was also a pretty darn fantastic beginning and middle as well. This story had so much emotion packed in its pages. Jake and Jules might have had a rocky start, but it was humorous and oh so memorable. What followed was just this touching story that I absolutely loved. The connection these two had instantly was obvious but as the story unfolds and their past is brought to light, it adds a layer that felt a lot like fate and had me thinking phrases like "meant to be".

There were moments that hurt my heart to read, but it also added to the overall beauty of the story. This is one I would certainly recommend contemporary romance fans everywhere check out. It's one that I think fellow Kim Karr fans are going to love. And it's one I wholeheartedly feel deserves 5 stars.

What a wonderful surprise! This was not at all the book I was expecting. I thought I would read a quick, hot, boom, bang and done. Nope. It is subtle, but it is there. The story moved me. It had emotional elements and the characters were well developed. Don’t get me wrong, there was plenty of steamy, hot sexy times! But there is a back story as well.

Jules Easton is a wedding planner at Easton Design & Weddings. She is taking over the business that her uncle spent 35 years building. However, the business is not doing so well. She loves her job and does it really well, but struggles with the business end of it.

Don’t get me wrong – I was all about love. In fact, I was so much about finding the perfect love that I made it the basis for my career.

So it’s do or die time. An opportunity to plan the wedding of one of the founding families and the most influential names in Atlanta. She needs to land this high profile wedding to keep things afloat. This would definitely put Easton Weddings & Design back on the map.

Dr. Jake Kissinger needs to help plan his sister Rory’s fairy tale wedding. Time is short, so he has to step up and make a lot of decisions. Jake and Jules are stuck together planning this wedding but things don’t always go as planned.

All of a sudden the fact that I had to work closely with him became very real.

Him.

The jackass.

Him.

The hot doctor with the kissable lips.

Dr. Kiss.

Although Jake comes off as a total jerk in the beginning, he softens as he gets closer to Jules. I loved their banter and chemistry. They both have a lot of issues but we find out that they are more alike than either thought. Jake considers himself unavailable emotionally for love while Jules is afraid of getting hurt or left behind.

There is a reason that Jake is unavailable and Jules is afraid. Those reasons were emotional and touching. A total game changer for this story. It evolved into a tender, sweet build up. And the ending was just right. As I said above, I expected one thing and got something so much more! I look forward to Jaxson’s story next!

The thing about love was it didn’t have to be perfect.

It just had to be right.

I love reading Kim’s books. Each book just brings out your emotions. And she didn’t disappoint with this book. I am in love with this book. This is one of my favorites by far!!!!

Jake and Juliette are a remarkable couple. I fell in love with them and you could feel their emotions with each other. The connection that they have presently and even from afar is swoon worthy.

I found myself smiling as I read them, laughing, and I cried. I mean this book is just so much and more!

You do not want to miss out! This is a MUST read! Well done Kim!!

I loved this book. I loved everything about the first time Jules & Jake meet in Atlanta! And I live in GA, spot on about the southern heat! This book was beautiful, and once I began reading it, I could not put it down. It had me laughing, and shedding a few tears. The secondary characters were great too! Can't Wait for Jaxson's book or Finn's! Hello MMA fighter! yum!
