After Napoleon III seized power in 1851, French writer Victor Marie Hugo went into exile and in 1870 returned to France; his novels include The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1831) and Les Misérables (1862).

This poet, playwright, novelist, dramatist, essayist, visual artist, statesman, and perhaps the most influential, important exponent of the Romantic movement in France, campaigned for human rights. People in France regard him as one of greatest poets of that country and know him better abroad.

I really do love reading Hugo's works. Les Misérables is my favorite, and I am constantly rereading it.
But it was nice seeing where he started with his writing and how he progressed. Hans of Iceland, his first novel, I found inspiring. Not because the story was good, but you can imagine a young man and his struggle to command the written word to create the essence of the world his characters lived in. It is always a pleasure to be able to read an author's work in the order that they are written. You get much more insight into their personal growth as a person, and a writer.
A very good read!

A Personal Journey Through Timeless Literature

This collection is not just a book to me, but an entire childhood gathered between covers.
I grew up with his timeless stories, which shaped my soul and the way I look at the world.
Every page I reopen awakens a deep nostalgia and cherished memories from my early years.
Victor Hugo's genius transforms words into pure emotion, touching the most sensitive heartstrings.
Having all his works in one place feels like coming home to my favorite universe.
His complex and deeply human characters have been my greatest teachers throughout my life.
This is a literary legacy of priceless value, which I will always treasure and reread with love.
I recommend it from the bottom of my heart to anyone wanting to discover true literary greatness.
