America loves weddings and a twins’ double wedding should be double the pleasure and double the fun. Except that one of the brides, math teacher Elizabeth Hayes, recently found her fiancé in bed with another woman. Elizabeth’s twin sister, Connie, has been in a taffeta-induced high planning the wedding—there's no way Elizabeth can tell her the whole thing’s off now. And she definitely isn’t going to mention that barely remembered night of whiskey, weeping, and waking up in a sexy bartender's bed.
When a bridal reality TV show offers an all-expenses-paid dream wedding, Connie refuses to say no just because one of them lacks a groom, so Connie's fiancé convinces his best friend to temporarily play the role of Elizabeth’s beloved. But Elizabeth is stunned to discover that her new "groom," Mark, is the sexy bartender from that blurry night. And Mark is shocked to find that his fake fiancée is the mysterious math teacher he’s been fantasizing about. Both are in for a surprise when it turns out that their pretend romance might just turn out to be the real thing.
The proofreading and editing really needs a redo. There were words left out of sentences, which made me shake my head in wonder. Other than that, the story was funny and cute.
Elizabeth Hayes just caught her fiancee in bed with another woman, 6 months before their wedding. So what does Elizabeth do, she grabs her girlfriends, go to a bar, and they get her drunk; then they leave her there. Thank goodness the bartender had been watching her all night and plans to put her in a cab, that is until she falls asleep on top of the bar.
The following morning, Elizabeth sneaks out of the bartender's apartment and runs home. The following week, she's meeting with her twin sister to tell her that she's not going to be apart of their planned double wedding. Connie, her twin, won't listen to Lizzie, a national magazine has offered to interview the 2 couples for the weddings. Connie wants this and she will get it.
Connie convinces her fiancee, Robbie, to ask his best friend, Mark to pretend to be the fiance. When Elizabeth sees Mark again weeks after that drunken night, she refuses to be apart of this farce anymore. When a bridal reality show offers Connie an all expenses paid wedding, she wants it, making Elizabeth feel guilty for ruining her good time. But it also leaves Elizabeth in a bad situation.
The chemistry between Mark and Elizabeth is out of this world, so they agree on 2 months. That's all the time they have to spend together for the wedding, then they will end things. For Elizabeth, who has always been in relationships, being casual is strange to her. For Mark, being with Elizabeth, is like coming home.
Can these two work through their own insecurities? Will Connie realize how much she's hurting her sister with this sham?
Math Teacher Love! Ok, so in addition to being a math geek... I'm also a former math teacher. So this one was a particularly fun read for me - how often does the geeky math teacher get to be the lead in a romance book? (Answer: In my experience, just in this book!) Yeah, yeah - the math teacher here is the girl, not the guy. Who cares. Still. Math. Teacher. Another excellent tale from Maggie Dallen, and now I'm really looking forward to seeing where she goes with the third book in this trilogy!
This was fun to read as dominant Connie bulldozed her twin Elizabeth to have a double wedding. It escalates to a TV series so Connie can have the wedding of her dreams. Elizabeth goes along, as she always has, but a cheating fiance threatens it all. Mark agrees to help his friend by pretending to be the fiance which makes Elizabeth begin to push back against her sister. The character of Connie was unlikable until something changes.
The characters are well written without a lot ofdetail. The action moved so well it was hard to put down. There is intimacy, but it's not detailed to excess. Except for Robbie, a more secondary player, the characters grow into better versions of themselves.
While not a true cliffhanger there's no on page HEA, but it's coming so we'll let that go.
Connie is character easy to dislike in how condescending, wanting everything her way with her fiance and twin sister let her have her way to save them from her wrath. Robbie's annoyance and you don't know her stance when Mark shares his opinion and concerns is such a red flag and Elizabeth defending and justification of her sisters bad behaviour, words and actions lots more red flags about Connie Love Mark and Elizabeth's interactions
I don't know if there is still a woman like Elizabeth. She had kept her sex life for her cheating fiance. Her twin sister, Connie was a self-absorbed bitch who insisted to have double reality show wedding. Mark acted like a jackass after his heart was broken by his cheatinh girlfriend. Hmm. Connie cancelled the wedding. Mark came confessing his feeling to Elizabeth and HEA

A double wedding ceremony can be full of angst. However, when one couple's relationship breaks down, then it altars the whole dynamics. Although this is a fictional situation, the characters and their approach to various scenarios, makes a whole lot sense, as far as relationships, love and respect goes. Great read!
This was a really sweet romance with some pretty steamy parts. I enjoyed watching the characters grow and help each other get over pain from their pasts.
This book has a great combination of heat and humor, mixed in with fun romance. Mark and Elizabeth meet under far from ideal circumstances. Elizabeth has just broken off with her fiancé Jason and is sloppy drunk the bar where Mark is bartending. She wakes up the next morning in his bed with no memory of going home with him. So, she scurries out before he wakes.
Skip ahead a couple of weeks and lo and behold, who has her sister and future brother-in-law corralled into pretending to be her fiancé for the cameras for the upcoming wedding – yep, Mark. Turns out he is Robbie’s best friend and best man. As the heat between them is undeniable, Mark offers Elizabeth a light-hearted short affair to help her get over her breakup. But, he is in for a surprise. Elizabeth may be just the person to make him re-think his player status and give love another chance.
This is a fast-paced romp and a perfect read for an afternoon escape.
I love Maggie Dallen's writing style! Her books are sweet and steamy and light-hearted and romantic and always has some humor! This story is about Mark and Elizabeth who have to work thru their baggage to get to their happily ever after. Good storyline and great characters! If you are looking for a light, sweet read, this is for you!
Honestly this book was cute, I might be missing the funny in the book but whether I did or not this book was cute, lovely yup I said it lovely because it was just that.
For me this book had gaps and boy my screaming towel came in handy hmmm maybe that was the funny in the book lol
I enjoyed this book Mark is a delight and Elizabeth was sweet. The only problem I had was it just took too long for them to get their heads on straight. Having said that, this is a book you will enjoy.
