This woman is a dope. She agrees to marry a guy because he'll buy her house's furniture and then she decides that all marriages are sham when she discovers he's cheating on her! WTH?
I suppose it wasn't horrible, but it wasn't good and it's been about a week since I read it and it took me several minutes to remember what is about. So one-star for being completely forgettable.
This wasn’t great? Or possibly even good? It was weird how the guy was kind of trying to gaslight her into loving him? That feel did lessen as the book went on - he had all these plans and then she jumped him and the plans kinda went out the window. Also I’m a sucker for a book with animals and there were so many.
In the end- enjoyed it but meh. Problematic romance, slightly weird plot, hilarious animal antics, and the poodle they mentioned reminded me of an actual dog I know so it made my heart hurt.
This was exactly the book/type of book I was in the mood for. Also it was published in 2001! Maybe part of it is/was the nostalgia? The sexy book with the chemistry but the characters not just jumping into sex on page one? (Not that there's anything wrong with it and I've definitely enjoyed a number of such books - but I miss the sensuousness and such of taking things slow in books sometimes)... or I'm not saying it right but anyway, the courtship and seduction.
ANYWAY - Sara and Gavin were so cute and I loved that it was Sara who wanted the fling and Gavin who was holding out for more. It made me miss category romances of the day - of course there were a few things that made me a little side eye, but overall it was really enjoyable and made me miss Lori Foster's books.
I was chuckling through most of this.story. I really enjoyed it! Gavin is so patient and the role reversal was hysterical! Sara is so kind. The animals made this story even more special. The pace is relaxed, the tone is hopeful and the storyline is character oriented with some steamy scenes and vibrant and endearing characters who make you cheer for them! I loved the solution for many of the shelter pets! If you want to read a fun story that will make chuckle and sigh at the romance, try this. Gavin is masculine, but willing to do whatever it takes to win his love! Get this book, sit back and enjoy this fun, fast read! I will be reading this one again!
I read Lori Forester’s book once before, and didn’t exactly liked it. But I was tempted to read this one. Did I like it more? Yeah, just a smidge more. Although, it was still not a great read. Like, why do we need to have the unnecessary sexual angst when they’ve already had that explosive kiss quite early on?
There were a few funny and sweet plots in the book. But other than that… it’s just an ok book. I did skim through quite a bit towards the end. And suffice to say, I won’t be reading this book again. Unless I forgot that I’ve done so already.
First, I need to find a man like Gavin. This is a sweet romantic novel with a lot of funny moments. I loved Sarah's personality and she was an animal lover and I can relate to that. The back and forth between Gavin and Sarah is hot and once they got their hands on each other, lets just say, you will need a glass of water. The ending is wonderful. I would recommend this title.
I really loved this funny and romantic novella. Gavin is thrilled that Sara has dumped her cheating ex because she is single again. He knows she is the one for him. He waits a bit and then goes for it. But Sara has decided that she will never have real love. Gavin has to play a bit dirty to get what he wants, but it is lots of fun. And the animals are adorable.
One of my favorites! Sara and Gavin are neighbors who needed a little push to get together. Both have cheating partners and traditional values. That's more than enough to bring these two together! Sweet and endearing, I am so happy to get this as a reissue!
2.5 - just rounding up. Sara finds her fiancee cheating on her and flies off the handle. Gavin is thrilled because he finally has a chance to try for a relationship with her. Only now, Sara has sworn off marriage and that's exactly what Gavin is looking for. So he decides to tempt her, to show her how indispensable he can be to her life and to really show her what a healthy relationship looks like. But Sara isn't done pushing for the fling that she wants, tempting Gavin at every turn. And he's just as determined to hold off for a declaration of love.
So the story itself wasn't so bad. The premise is a little shaky I think with a woman who wasn't even in love with her fiancee getting so crazy angry and then swearing off marriage. One would think she might draw the conclusion that the thing that was missing that might have made it work was actually love. But no. Sara is something of a neurotic mess and I just didn't find her or her tendency to collect animals all that charming. But I give Gavin major props for patience and putting up with her. Overall it was a fluffy sort of story which I think attempted humor but I didn't really go for it. YMMV.

OMGosh. This has to be the lamest story ever. I can usually expect a decent fun, sassy read from Lori Foster, but this was LAME. Very, very weak characters. Gavin seemed to be a gullable fool. Wants to marry his neighbor so agrees to be her room mate and will accept many animals. She is just as lame, if not worse. No furniture in her house, so she uses the kitchen cabinets to store her undergarments.
Both drab, flat, beta personalities with no apparent redeeming qualities other than they are good looking. BLAH....I just finished the book and can't even remember HER name....
The only thing good about this audiobook was the narrator. I also was happy when this book ended. If it were any longer I wouldn't have bothered to finish it. LAME is the best word that comes to mind for this one.
Prova de Amor. Diga Sim! Lori Foster. H. E. Romance 02. 2010.
Narrated by Lauren Fortgang Cute read. Not a lot of depth to the characters, I felt we were just getting to know them when the story ended. Gavin was definitely hard to believe - doing everything, being so patient, happily accepting pet after pet. While it sounds wonderful, I also wanted to shake him and tell him to get a backbone! Sarah seemed whiny and wimpy to me. I realize her heart was broken by a cheating fiancée, but she seemed so childish. The constant references to her unhappy childhood were not substantiated, and solved by a mere resolve on her part to call them. Too quick a wrap up to that storyline! Also - let's give her childhood dog a name please. It may have struck more of a chord if she demonstrated a greater attachment to it ("her dog").
After a bad breakup Sara is determined she will never marry. Not being able to pay the bills in her new home built by Gavin who owns the housing development, he moves in to help out.
Sara helps out in an animal shelter where she has trouble resisting the handicapped animals and brings them home. She has a cat with part of an ear missing, a dog with 3 legs, another dog who is deaf etc. Love the animals !!!
I honestly wasn't in love with this book. It seemed a little strange from the beginning that this guy was on a mission to get his neighbor to fall in love with him. While that seems well intentioned, I'm not a fan of manipulative characters.
The story itself was short and didn't really have much going on. There wasn't any sort of conflict that would keep a reader hooked. It certainly didn't keep me hooked, but it was something that helped put me to sleep on a lot of nights.
Pleasant enough short romance. Very likable characters. I love the friends-to-lovers theme, but think the friendship was either not developed well enough or not explained well enough at the beginning. But turns into a very nice and quick romance read.
