Loved this book from beginning to end. The love story between Ryder and Ashlyn is sexually charged, intense and passionate! I really enjoyed it. I did not like Ashlyn all the time as I got a bit sick of her being lost in doubt about her relationship with Ryder and unable to see Ryder’s true intentions. Ryder is compelling and wonderfully attractive! I liked him straight away and continued liking him throughout the book.
Ryder and Ashlyn were great together, explosive even, because the sex scenes between these two were delicious. OMG…every time he roughly undid his belt he made me melt. Each and every time!!
The plot was entertaining and well written. I just wish there were more powerful plot twists that would intensify the reader’s emotions. I highly recommend it and I can't wait for the rest.

So I had a lot of issues with the majority of this book. I just didn't seem to gel with the authors writing style and I was put off at the beginning when so much time was spent with the main characters not even meeting yet, and instead it was them having a lot of inner monologue about their sex lives. I'm not one to usually get annoyed with OW/OM things being brought up in stories, as long as it's not cheating, but there was just so much of it that I started to get annoyed with those thoughts or flashbacks to other people.
Moving on from that there were just some overall issues I had with the story and the characters that stopped me from fully connection to the book. However, I still found it intriguing. There was some angst thrown in that I actually thought was really interesting and then the cliffhanger has me ready to move on and get the rest of the story.
If you had asked me in the beginning of my reading, I would not have said that I would read the conclusion to Ryder and Ashlyn's story. But there's a reason I don't DNF books and this is it. If I would have given up when the book was going less than stellar for me I would have missed out on this crazy curiosity that I have now. I know I only gave this book 2 stars, most of which was because of the first half, but I'm hopeful that I will enjoy the next one better.

Shantel Tessier has been a go-to author of mine for quite some time now. I love her writing because this chick can kill it with the words and stories. Her books always promise a sexy, thrilling journey that will keep you on the edge of your seat long after this story is over... guaranteed.
Selfish is the newest release by Tessier that burned up the pages on my kindle. I was hooked by the end of page one and didn't stop until the pages quit turning. This book took me on an addictive roller coaster ride of emotions that left me reeling and looking for more once it was over.
Intense Passion. Raw Desire. She isn't looking for love. He always gets what he wants. He is her best friend's brother. Ashlyn and Ryder will have you squirming in your seat and your heart beating a little faster. Their story is going to push your boundaries and have you begging for more.

A story that is told in dual pov , one that will have you enjoying the hot sexual intensity between the MC in this story.

Omg I freaking love this book! The passion, emotions, and some funny moments had my head spinning!
Ashlyn is such a little firecracker. I love her personality. Ryder is so caring, and very dominant between the sheets! I loved how well they go together, but Ashlyn isn't ready for love. I'm so excited to dive into the next book to find out what happens between them.

Intense and unexpected
This book has took on journey of emotions that didn’t expected. It has everything you want with beautiful playful edge that can’t help hook you in. I read this book awhile ago and I don't why I didn't leave a review for it.
Just like all Shantel's books it was a great book and as always leaving you want more. It was one those series diffidently one will be waiting impatiently for the next one.

So I have to say I'm a big fan of Mrs. Tessier's. I've read almost all of her books and pretty much know what to expect when reading one of her book's. I thought I knew how I was going to rate and review this book by the end.... But Mrs. Tessier has gone and blown me out of the water again....
I want to say I thought that when I started it was going to be a light and sweet read. That it was going be different than what I have been reading, which are dark and heavy reads. And don't get me wrong this was a light and sweet read.....
I loved both Ashlyn and Ryder's characters. They were both likeable and re late able. Though they both came from different ends of the spectrum financially, I didn't find them to be to different from each other.
I loved loved loved Ryder. Ryder is celebrating his 29th birthday in Panama City and is surprising his sister who is on vacation there with her room mate/best friend. Ryder has been dedicated to work as much as his father and hasn't really found the one yet. I thought Ryder was sweet, kind, caring, and charming. You could see how much he cared about his sister.
I loved Ashlyn right off the bat. She's the kind of best friend that everyone should have. She was sweet, caring, loyal, and feisty.
As I've said I did really enjoy this book. BUT I do want to warn and wish I had known this book was going to end in a cliffhanger. I felt as though my heart had been ripped out by the end. Also I want to say I loved Becca and Jaycent in this book.
I'm giving this book 4.5 Stars out of 5 and can't wait for the next one!!!!

A brilliant balanced plot with added drama and hotness.
Selfish is a hot addictive read that I couldn't put down. Definitely looking forward to more from these characters by Shantel Tessier in Selfless.

Terrible heroine
I love this author's UN series, it had a strong female lead and a romantic alpha male lead and I thought this book would be another great series. Unfortunately, I had to force myself to continue to read. The writing is a little repetitive and at times very conflicting. ***Spoiler*******
Ashlyn is quite frankly a bit too loose for me. I am all for women's s#xuality but this author really overdoes her sleeping around. Most of Ryder and Ashlyn's interaction is s#x. It gets boring and just old. Here is a tip to author's - ENOUGH of the BDSM stuff! Seriously, its like every story has to have it and its ridiculous. Ashlyn is a bi*chy, slu**y character who sleeps around and leads people on hiding behind the "I am honest about what I want" excuse. All the while she acts like she and Ryder are a couple and then just can't understand why Ryder would walk out on her when he thinks she is sleeping with her best guy friend? And she is horrible to her best guy friend Bradley. I don't see why either one of them bothers wh her. One sentence she is saying her and Ryder are just having s#x and he knows that and then literally a paragraph later she is upset because Ryder says that's all she is. She deserves what she gets, they both walk out on her. This book would have been better of Ashlyn was less rude and slut#y.

But it doesn’t happen like that she believes she isn’t good enough for Ryder.
I really loved Ryder he was cocky sexy hot alpha and what he wants he gets and he decides he isn’t letting go of Ashlyn.
These two together wow the sexual chemistry is off the charts. The sex scenes are very hot.
But can these two be together. They are from different worlds Ryder has money and loads of it.
I really like Ash she is funny sassy and does stand up for herself.
The secondary Characters are all great too.
I loved this book I cannot wait for the next book after that ending. I really hope other Characters get a book as well would love to read Becca’s story.

I loved Ashlyn and Ryder. They are awesome characters. Ryder is a cocky but confident guy. I liked him right away. Ryder is from money and pretty much married to his job. Ashlyn is super funny and a really great best friend. She's not into the whole relationship thing. Her and Ryder hook up when she on vacation with her best friend, Becca. It isn't easy to keep it as just one time because Ryder is Becca's brother. When Becca finds out Ryder is Becca's brother I was like wait how did she not know what her best friend's brother looked like but It's explained how in the book and it's believable. Ryder and Ashlyn have great chemistry together and what was suppose to be a one time hook up turns into more. I was surprised at the ending and can't wait to read more.

Wow! This book gave me some good vibes! It had some HOT scenes. I wasn't very find of Ashlyn. Her character was very insecure. And I don't understand why. She has loving parents and a good home, secure finances. But the idea of someone taking care of her and loving her scared her. Ryder was the whole package. I loved him. They are good together and he broke her walls.

Selfish is the first book in the Selfish Series from Shantel Tessier. This is the story of Ashlyn and Ryder and I loved both of these characters. What better way to kick off a major life change than by taking a trip with your best friend. And Becca is Ashlyn's best friend. A night at a bar, a one night stand and this is the end of it in Ashlyn's mind. Imagine her surprise when she finds out her one night stand is her best friend Becca's brother. These two characters have some amazing chemistry going on and I love when it just pours off the pages into your heart. Selfish is full of it and angst and drama. Add in the walls that Ashlyn has built around her heart and Ryder has his work cut out for him.
I loved everything about this book and was so happy to have Myself waiting on my kindle. Yep there is a cliffhanger but your lucky if your just starting this series now. Myself is out and you don't have to wait for it to be released. This is also my first Shantel Tessier read but it sure will not be my last.

These two characters have some amazing chemistry going on and I love when it just pours off the pages into your heart. Selfish is full of it and angst and drama. Add in the walls that Ashlyn has built around her heart and Ryder has his work cut out for him.
I loved everything about this book and was so happy to have Myself waiting on my kindle. Yep there is a cliffhanger but your lucky if your just starting this series now. Myself is out and you don't have to wait for it to be released. This is also my first Shantel Tessier read but it sure will not be my last.

I want to say upfront that this was a slow starter for me. I went in completely blind, not knowing the author or the type of book at all - just reading the blurb, but I ended up pleasantly surprised. I also have the second book - Myself - to read and review, but since that's not a direct continuation of this story, I wanted to stop and write up my notes first.
*warning* This book ends on a cliffhanger! I know that's a deterrent for some people, so go in knowing that ahead of time please. Book two is about another couple, so Ryder & Ashlyn will have the rest of their story a bit later. Yes, this frustrates me a little, but the book was quite good, so I'll deal.
Both of the main characters were... challenging. Don't take that the wrong way. I ended up digging them both. They suited each other, and they had strong characters and moral codes. You might not think that after reading the early part of the book, but trust me - it's true.
Ashlyn is fiercely independent and loves Becca like a sister. Her family is everything to her. She has a male best friend that she "hooks up with," but they've been open about their BFWB relationship. She and Becca are about to start their adult lives in New York, and she couldn't be happier. Ash definitely knows what she wants out of life and she's not going to settle for less.
Ryder is Becca's big brother, but Ashlyn certainly doesn't know that when she meets him during their "last hurrah" vacation in Florida. He decided to pop down and surprise his sister. Little did he know that he'd be getting the bigger surprise - a roll in the sack with "Sasha," who turns out to be Becca's BFF. (I was very glad to see there was hardly any angst over this plot point btw, so *whew*)
There are a few stumbling blocks. The disparity between his social status and her perceived lack thereof, the way she closes herself off from him, and in turn - the way he pushes her. All in all though, the storyline is pretty believable, and not too incredibly trope-y.
I enjoyed this first installment, and can't wait to read the conclusion to their tale. It gets a solid 4-stars.

Sexy, amusing and irresistible, Selfish is the perfect romance novel. Shantel Tessier is always a must-read author for me and this book had something really interesting in the blurb that catch my attention.
A feisty and strong heroine and a sexy dominant hero brings a lot of steamy action in this story. Ashlyn is going on vacation with her best friend in Florida, where she has a one night stand with a sexy stranger named Ryder. The next morning, surprise!! He’s her friend’s big brother and his one night with her wasn’t enough. After this little trip, she moves across the country in New York for work and is now living in the same building as him.
Let’s just say that Ryder can’t let Ashlyn go like that and he makes his intentions clear. Ashlyn is sassy and I loved her personality. She isn’t accustomed to have sex with feelings so their new sexual relationship transforming into more is a little too much for her to deal with. Ryder is so understanding, but he’ll do anything to make her realize that what they have is more. The sexy scenes are really intense and scorching. They have a certain magnetism and you feel everything between them. The emotions really translate easily to the reader.
These new heroes are enthralling and Shantel Tessier captured their essences perfectly. I was surprise to see that the book isn’t a standalone with this cliffhanger at the end. I hope the see the completion of Ashlyn and Ryder’s story very soon.

This book! AH! Loved ever second of it.
Ashlyn has become my favorite heroine ever. She's a no-nonsense girl who knows what she wants and won't settle for less. On a vacation with her best friend she runs into a very attractive man and together they share one of the hottest nights. Imagine her surprise when the next day this handsome stranger is standing in her hotel room saying he's her best friends brother.
Ryder is a very young and successful man. Married to his job he never really cared much for ever lasting love until he meets Ashlyn. There one night together isn't enough for him. He wants so much more.
Ride along with these two for one amazing journey. The sex scenes were HOT, HOT, HOT and I loved the playful banter between the two. But can Ryder do enough to capture Ashlyn's heart?
This is a well written story and I promise you won't be able to put it down once you get started. Enjoy!!!

This is my first book by Shantel, and I am seriously having a total love/hate feeling with her on the ending of this book.
Ashlyn is a fiesty little thing. She is very loving and protective of the ones she cares about. I also had a love/hate feeling with her. I loved her for the reasons listed above, but how she treated Ryder sometimes made me hate her. I just didn't understand why she came off so guarded with letting him in.
Now Ryder, I absolutely LOVED the fuck out of him. He could be so gentle and then be just as rough in and out of bed. I just love his relationship with his sister is and how he truly cares for Ashlyn.
I can't wait to get more of this story and see how it plays out. & I really hope we get a book about Becca & Jaycent.

I am slowly working my way through Shantel's back catalogue and decided to read this. I have to say that i didn't know what to expect, as I have only read her darker books (along with Dash iykyk), but this trilogy was so freaking good.
This was more of an emotional ride than anything. when Ashlyn goes on vacation with her best friend, the last thing she expected was to have hooked up with her best friends older brother!
Ryder is a work-acholic, working to prove to his dad that he can run the family business. he decides to take some time to surprise his sister and help her celebrate, what he never thought was meeting and falling for her best friend!
the two come from different worlds....can they find common ground and make it? Does Ashlyn even want a relationship or just the fun that comes with it?

Ashlyn's character is new to me for new adult novels. She's independent and she knows what she really wants. She's wild and untamed yet she has her share of soft spot and believes in love. Sometimes though she gets irritating.
This book is so much like friends with benefits with the bondage and belt thing which I didn't like at all. I read reviews before and many rated it with perfect stars and called it hot but I beg to differ. I'm not fan of tying, blindfolds, etc. Although it is far from BDSM like FSOF, it doesn't sound hot and good at all. I liked it though that the author chose not to define the sex scenes; saving time and pages for more stories to tell. I enjoyed the read but doesn't mean the story's that great.
I'll read the next book. Left me hanging out there.
