Angela Martin was expecting to have a normal, uneventful week in the small town of Willow Bay. The universe, however, had other ideas.
When a local gossip is murdered while walking her dog, Angela knows she needs to find Sprinkles, who ran away during the murder. After all, being a witch who can talk to animals, finding Sprinkles might be the only way to find the murderer. Especially since the victim had more enemies than most people have Facebook friends.
But she has to investigate without the police chief suspecting anything, she has to deal with Bee's jealousy about a dog getting attention, and she has to try and get along with Sophie's mom's new boyfriend.
And just to complicate things even further, the infuriating but crazy hot Jason Black is back in town, and this time, it sounds like it's for good.

Entertaining supernatural cozy mystery series
Entertaining supernatural cozy mystery series. Great cast of characters and a fun and entertaining storyline. A small town in Oregon off the coast. Where they get a few tourist every so often. A young woman who happens to be a veterinarian and owns the local veterinary clinic. She lives with her sister and best friend in a little bungalow in town. She also happens to be a witch who can also talk to animals. Her sister who also is a witch and is in medical school. Along with her best friend who happens to be her veterinary technician. Her best friends mother is a witch and her best friend as far as I know got skipped in the witching gene pool. Follow along as in a little small town her and her friends solve mysteries murders and other crimes going on. And entertaining and unique supernatural cozy mystery storyline. Check it out

Using the Goodreads rating system this book earned 2 stars from me. It was ok. While I definitely wouldn't classify it as a paranormal, and not really much of a mystery, it was still a fairly ok read. The biggest issue I had is, like the first book. the editing. This one didn't just use the wrong character name (which still occurred) but changed a characters name in the middle of the book. Lisa's new boyfriend was introduced as Austin Stark. He was Austin the 2nd time he appeared in the story. Then suddenly his name was Ken. This is more than just poor editing. This is the editor not bothering to read the story being edited.

Get this author an editor!
I’m done. I read the first book in this series and was disappointed. I read the second one, hoping maybe it was better. Nope. Too many discrepancies -first it’s Birch Road, then it’s Birch Street, then it’s Birch Road again. That’s just one of many examples. And again with the eye rolls! I swear, at least once a page, and sometimes two, someone is rolling their eyes! Enough! NO ONE rolls there eyes that much! And like (eye roll) honestly (eye roll awesome (eye roll) you suck! The girls need to expand their vocabulary! Or rather, the author does!

Witch
Why would Angelia not use her magic in the old house?! I mean she could of gone invisible, taken the gun out of Guys hand magically, many things. It makes no sense. This story was dumb I'm tired of all these witch books by many authors doing the same story line over an over again! How many times can one person be in danger an solve a major crime!! Dumb!! Glad I didn't buy this series!!

Curiosity killed the cat?
A great solid cozy. When one of the biggest gossips in town is found dead - was it a accident or murder? As the girls try to gather information on the main suspects they uncover some deep secrets. Was one of them responsible for the death? Will the ability to talk to animals help in getting to the truth? Not really a deep plot but a light read that is great for those lazy days when you just need something light.

Such a nice plot, surprised me more than the last...
The 2nd in this series... I enjoyed this plot! There's still the delicious food descriptions, which I love, and Angela's ability to talk with animals, as in the 1st book. But there's a twist at the end I didn't see coming. In fact, more than one! A great read... And a quick read... Enjoy!

Needs work.
Awesome storyline, needs editing so bad. Names change and flipflop - is the mom’s boyfriend Austin or Ken? And there are times the grammar is so bad it pulls you right out of the story. But if edited correctly, this is a solid story and one I would absolutely recommend.

Marginally more magic
Better than the first, but it lacks any real clues as once again the solution to the burning question, "who is the killer?", answers itself at the end when they appear and confirm it.
Not as many mistakes in this but those that are lurking around should have been picked up if it had been proofread or professionally edited.

Starting to get good
Finally someone has done a spell. The second book was worth persevering with, the characters are filling out, romance is in the air and two murders down after years and years of nothing

This book has suspense, crazy people, and of course, animals. I'm a cat person, so I understand why Bee was put out having a dog in her house! Would like to see more witch spells!

I just love this series. The outstanding writing and story telling keeps me coming back for more. The characters are so well described and the story so well told, that it is like being with friends as your reading it. Great Reading Everyone!

Are you a witch or not?
These characters always seem to forget they are witches at crucial moments. The magic component seems a bit like an afterthought. Sprinkles is adorable, though.

Pretty good
Angela, Sophia and Charlotte make a pretty good team. Love the story. If you like a cozy with a clean mystery and a little Doctor Doolittle, you will love this as much as I do.

What's new in Willow Bay
Nice little mystery about a vet who can talk to animals and always seems to get her, sister Charlotte & best friend Sophie involved in some kind of an investigation. Though Willow Bay is small there sure seems to be a lot going on there.

"Barking Up the Wrong Tree" by Samantha Silver is the second book in the Willow Bay Witches series. The next adventure for Angie starts off when one of the local busy bodies is found dead in the middle of the street. Angie knows that this person was likely walking her dog when she was attacked. She takes it upon herself to enlist the aide of her sister and best friend to find the dog. Hopefully, he won't get into much trouble, and at the same time be able to tell her who murdered his master.
Overall, I thought that this was a great follow up novel to the previous one. Some of the same mistakes were still present. However, I am guessing that's due to both of the novels being published on the same day. Either way, I thought that the overall novel was better than the first and I really did enjoy reading it.

Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...
1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.
2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.
3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.
4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.
5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.

The book isn't bad. A decent story with some good twists. I like the whole speaking to animals bit because I'm one of those animal lovers who is always talking to my animals. The ending is "guessable" but not blatant. Little clues get dropped throughout the book.
My biggest complaint about the book are the editing errors. I noticed it a couple of times in the first book, but this time around, I lost track of how many times she called Betty "Bella"...

Great!
This series just keeps getting better. As the characters and Willow Bay get fleshed out as the complex and fascinating plot aspects they are. The three young ladies and the animals that people these books are extremely entertaining. The mysteries are always intriguing and well thought out & very imaginative.
These would be an excellent family reading time addition, and are suitable for all ages.

Best of its kind
Cozy mysteries are not the great American novel. What a good cozy should be is well written, entertaining, and fun with a good mystery plot and attractive characters. Ms. Silver has achieved that and I'm looking forward to being entertained again soon. I really like her mystery solving vet who talks to animals, and I like the personalities the animals take on. There is the rare editing issue but not enough to subtract a star.

Small town charm
While these books won't enlighten your mind, they are great to relax with and take your mind off everyday things. Angela is once again caught solving a murder with her friend and sister. The mystery is good, one you don't see coming. There is a lot of small town charm in this series. There isn't romance in this one but a sort of push and pull with a guy that's lacking heat at best. Hopefully it picks up along the way.
