This was a great read! Whitney and Connor meet on a journey of self discovery in a traditional walk in Spain called El Camino de Santiago. The research and detail in the story is seriously commendable. The author did a great job of painting a picture of the experience for us. Enough so, that I was enticed to learn more about it. There's a ceremony at the end of the walk called the Botafumeiro that sounded amazing. I had to look it up in YouTube to put a picture to what I read. It was really cool! I liked that the romance between the two was a build up, though the attraction was always there. I liked how honest and mature they were with one another as often characters jump in without thought to consequences. Individually they had growth and development, though I wish Connor would've realized his a little sooner. They were unique and complex. Together, they had great chemistry and an organic connection. The plot was good, but made stronger by the writing. From the detail to the prose, it was well done. Safety: No OW/OM/Sharing. There is a separation and it appears they may have dated others but nothing is confirmed as far as whether something happens with them. Neither are Vs. No rape or abuse.

Loved this book!
It’s hot, it’s sweet, it had an ugly cry moment, a believable HEA and it left me inspired to go after what I want in life. What more does anyone want in a romance?

What first pulled me in was the setting for the first part of the book: the Camino de Santiago. I have never walked the Camino, but I have been to the north of Spain, I have been wanting to walk the Camino myself (but never have) but I have been to Santiago and the cathedral (and watched Elton John perform his beautiful song during the burial of Lady/Princess Di on a television in a bar while having coffee or lunch or whatever). The description of the walk was beautiful and matched what I have seen and read about it and made me (again) want to take time off work to walk it. So I, after about 10 pages, decided to award major bonus stars for that setting alone. The setting also really fit the underlying dilemma the main characters face: deciding what to do with your life, gaining new perspective, preparing for a life’s choice: a pilgrimage.

The heroine, Whitney, is the main focus of this story. She has a tough job working with kid-refugees and the emotion of it had gotten too much, so she decided to walk the walk. She needed something else… but what, and how? During the last days of her walk, she meets the hero, Connor. They are instantly attracted, but only after a couple of surprise meetings, and after having finished the Camino, do they decide to act on the attraction, both knowing it won’t be anything more than a fling because Connor is a traveler, not fit to remain at a fixed place for long. So after some hot, hot, hot days, they part ways without each other's contact information. I cried some ugly tears there. The scene reminded me of the ‘look back at me’-scene in the BBC mini-series North and South (not to be confused with the American series). It’s totally different, but still. It was genius.

And since this is a romance, they meet again. A lot has happened in the months they were apart, especially for Connor. During this part of the story, we also meet Connor’s sister, brother and cousin, and although I know Ms. White needed to setup the rest of the series, I could have done without some of the scenes, although she did manage to make most of the introductions fit with the character growth of the hero. The hero and heroine in this part of the book are mostly, as his family, on hold, treading very carefully around the doubt they all have about whether or not Connor has it in him to stay. But… don’t worry; this is a romance, not some ugly cry book with a cliff hanger. And the scene where he realizes what he wants to do… again genius in my opinion. I loved what Connor said to Whitney.

I used the bonus points I awarded for the setting of the first part of the book to compensate for some minor points that didn't diminish my enjoyment:
- The missing description of the smell of the incense during the ceremony in the cathedral in Santiago.
- A dual third person POV instead of the dual first person POV. It’s just a personal preference and most of the times the names at the beginning of a chapter with a change of POV were not necessary, but it does confuse me at times.
- The name Whitney… Don’t know why, but I do not like that name. Again, personal preference.
- Sometimes the descriptions (the road, the ceremony, Whitney’s job) could have been a little shorter. Especially the scene where Whitney talked about her job felt a little too preachy.

I admit to having been a little apprehensive starting this newest book because it often happens that when my expectations are high, my enjoyment falls short of those expectations. Thankfully that did not happen with this book. This is the fifth book by author J.L. White, and also the fifth book I have read. I loved them all. And my advice to everyone: if you like romance, if you're looking for likeable characters and if you like HOT scenes… READ THIS!

I'm going to come right out and say it. I wasn't expecting to love this book. The blurb didn't capture my interest, and if it hadn't been J.L. White, I would have passed over it. J.L. White is a new discovery for me, and I've been slowly working my way through her Firework Girls books. I've enjoyed those books so much, and have been savoring them. They are a treat I get to read when I've read a couple of bad books and need some relief. Or when I'm ahead on my deadlines. But I know going in that I'm going to get a great, steamy romance. I shouldn't have had any doubts about this one. I LOVED this book!

Whitney meets Connor while on a pilgrimage across Spain. Whitney's journey isn't about religion, it's about soul searching. She has dedicated her life to her job at a charitable organization that helps child refugees, but her life is unbalanced and she needs to take a step back.

Connor suffers from Wanderlust and travels the world seeking people and experiences. He lives on his boat and sails wherever his heart desires. He changes locations on a whim, sometimes staying only a few days... other times a few months. When he meets Whitney on the Camino del Santiago the attraction is instant and intense. They begin a brief, passionate love affair that leaves a mark on both of their hearts. At the end, they say their goodbyes and go their separate ways.

Many months later, they run across each other at Connor's family resort. It's like they were never separated and instantly pick back up where they left off. But the underlying problems are still there. Connor desires to travel the world and be able to change locations at a moments notice and Whitney can't imagine not having a home base.

And if he did decide to leave, who says he would want me along? Can you still be the wind when you've got someone tied to your side?

Because when I'm really honest with myself, I'm afraid he's still the wind, and I'm over here completely delusional about my ability to capture him.

I. Couldn't. Stop. Reading. I started it this morning, intending to only read for half an hour or so.... then the book was over and I was in love. These are the type of characters I read for. These are the type of relationships I crave seeing on a page. The romance was steamy. The sex scenes didn't feel repetitive, and I genuinely cared about what happened to everyone involved. I can't wait for the next book.

Wow! Brilliant!
Beautiful Mine by J.L. White just sucked me in from the beginning and I was hooked! It is such a passionate, hot, and sexy book about Connor Rivers and Whitney Spencer who walk the Camino de Santiago in Spain. They meet towards the end of her pilgrimage and continue to bump into each other on the trail. Acknowledging that fate is telling them something, they accept and indulge in their desire for one another. Even though their time together is short, it was hard for both to say goodbye. Then, roughly eleven months later, fate brings them together again…. And sparks fly.

I just adore this book! The story line is very realistic as well as the characters. I can absolutely see this novel being made into a movie! It was that good!

Also, Connor is absolutely my new book boyfriend! **ARC received in exchange for an honest review**

A JLW. Romantic Intetlude to the Real Thing (BM) (BRB - 1)

JLW. had penned a romantic interlude, titled "Beautiful Mine", which is the time between two people where they wake up to the realization they do love each other. A chance meeting in Spain is the interlude and the real thing is a wake up call at the mans family resort in California. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS

How is it these two MCs are only in their mid-twenties? They’re mature, they communicate, and they’re not a-holes. What a concept? I loved this book. I loved Connor. I loved Whitney. I loved them together. I loved their story. I loved it all. Can you tell I loved it?

The author sets the stage in beautiful Spain. Two American strangers meet and after the fourth unplanned meeting, Connor’s convinced its fate. Right? I agree. They have a very passionate but short affair. Maybe because of the short nature of their time together they’re able to talk without getting hung up on relationship rules, do’s and don’ts and other silly relationship BS. They talk about family, friends, their fears, their issues. Sometimes it’s easier to talk to strangers who don’t have any preconceived notions or rules for you or short/long-term ideas. That happens with these two. Somewhere very quickly their insta-lust/attraction becomes more for both yet they know time is not on their side. Why wouldn’t that happen with two young, sexy, adventurous people? They don’t try to make something more of it or drag it out painfully. Watching them say goodbye in Spain seemed so right but still hurt too.

When they meet again later in California, completely unplanned, watching how excited and happy they were to see each other made me go “aww”. It felt sweet and realistic. Watching them rein that simmering attraction in and become more cautious on home turf also seemed realistic. When they gave in to it (didn’t drag it out) that was what I wanted. Reader cheer.

JLW made me sympathetic toward Connor’s push toward leaving and pull toward Whitney and his family’s responsibilities. Too often I want to yell at the H to get his sh*t together but in this story it made sense. Sprinkling in past conversations with his parents made his struggle more real and his final decision authentic. I felt for Whitney because she loved Connor but she didn't want to trap him in a role that would make him miserable even if it would hurt her. Sometimes in relationships you keep quiet for what is the perceived relationship "good" even if it hurts you. They both did that although I think Whitney felt it more than Connor.

Side note: loved the interaction between the siblings. Painful, honest, guilt, hurt, it made this family more real. I felt their pain and wanted all of them to have their HEA. I’m hoping JLW gives us the rest of the family’s stories in the future.

Standalone: yes, but I’m hoping JLW gives us the rest of the family’s stories
HEA: yes and no cliffhanger
Sex: yes
Recommend: YES!

I had to say that Whitney was strong woman that knew her potential and made strides to grow with each new experience. Whitney seemed to mature and develop as the read progressed. She also seemed to be more aware of who she was and the direction she wanted to head in.

Connor had his moments. I wanted to take him to the side and just have a serious talk with him. While he was with Whitney he was s different man. He was more.

The two together had chemistry. Their passion ignited was like blazing heat to set the world aflame. But then it was time to part ways. Whitney went her way and then Connor wanted to be free, so he went on his way to continue travelling. He needed to grow up and wise. He did not have it all together but as the story moved on. There were glimpses of him becoming the man he needed to be.

Things here felt real. They felt like thought went in to each exchanged between Connor and Whitney. I could feel the distance between them but when they were together you knew it was right.

So well written, beautiful and almost poetic, March 20, 2017

I received an Advance Reader Copy for Beautiful Mine by JL White and voluntarily reviewed this book. Whitney was hiking on a soul-searching historical pilgrimage across Spain, the Camino del Santeria trail, when she spies Connor. They keep catching up to each other along the way, but each time they do so, they feel an even greater magnetic pull between them. When they meet for the fourth time during their last leg of the journey, they finally embrace the serendipitous moment to spend a glorious albeit brief time together before parting a final time to continue on their own, neither expecting to see the other again. But when happenstance brings them together one more fateful time, they each steal even more little pieces of the other’s heart.

This story was an emotional ride! The chemistry between these two characters was fairly smoking and very easy to visualize, building up during their time in Spain and afterwards as well. It was so well written, beautiful and almost poetic, that the words just seemed to slip off the pages and into my head. The descriptions of their pilgrimage make me fairly envious of making the journey myself! Also, the characters of Whitney and Connor's mom really resonated with me; I am very much "empathic" like them. I very much look forward to reading the rest of the stories in this series, featuring the two other Rivers siblings.

Whitney and Connor met when they were on the Camino del Santiago in Spain. While Whitney knew that she would be returning home to California at the end of her pilgrimage, Connor had a desire to travel and never knew where life would take him. Their attraction sparked during their short time in Spain, and though they knew what they had would be fleeting, they gave in to their mutual desire. Fast forward almost a year later, and they meet again. I loved how even though they were both in their mid-twenties, they handled themselves pretty well, and weren't full of attitude, just unsure of each other's feelings. It was a beautifully told love story, with plenty of steam, and it was a rocky road for them to find their path, but I love how it came to be.

Beautiful Mine, by J.L. White, is the first book of the Beautiful Rivers series. This is a brilliantly written story full of passion, romance and intrigue. It has solidly complex characters that are well defined and portrayed. The author melds the words in the story in such a way to share the emotional connections that are made with the characters. Truly a beautifully written book to start what is bound to be a great series!

Heartfelt new adult romance about two travellers finding themselves and go through a range of emotions to find their happiness

Beautiful Mine is the first book I have read by J.L. White so I had no idea what to expect but was drawn to it by the blurb. In the end I ended up loving this book more than I expected. Beautiful Mine is a romance about two strangers travelling who have an instant attraction and brief relationship before finding themselves in the same place again later on who have to go through a range of emotions in order to find their happiness.

Whitney and Connor have such an incredible chemistry that completely draws you in as they both must figure out where they are in their lives, where things are heading and later on how they can find happiness together. Both characters were complex and intriguing as they evolved both individually and together, their emotions real and raw.

Beautiful Mine is set at a steady pace, giving a realistic feel to the whole book, allowing good development and evolvement. The book is well written that you can’t help but picture every scene playing out in vivid detail. There was a very natural transition throughout the book to come to the conclusion of a HEA to make this book a true standalone read.

As a new reader to this author, I would definitely recommend this book

My Rating: 5 "You're my anchor" STARS!

Beautiful Mine is a beautiful love story between Connor and Whitney and I love it! It is poignantly sweet, hot and super engaging.

Connor is an interesting character as he is portrayed as a wanderer who loves to travel around the earth and he seems to be always on the move. He also comes from a very wealthy family that involves in a hotel business. What I like about him is that he has a very close relationship with his family and would never hesitates to help them when they are in need.

Whitney is a woman with the heart of a gold and I love her for that. She is very selfless but yet she is also seems to be very mature for her age. I like that even though she like Connor so much, she wouldn't want to trap him into something that he wasn't ready. I hope in the next installment maybe she can lead something like in a foundation from the Rivers' hotel line because I feel like she is going to be great in that. And yeah, she is definitely perfect for Connor.

All in all, I think that Beautiful Mine is a wonderful story and I highly recommend this story to all romance readers out there because this book has a very special charm to it. And I hope there will be stories for other Rivers in the family. *fingers crossed*

Another great book by JL White! Two strangers from California meet while walking the Camino de Santiago in Spain. The first time they see each other, it's just a glance. The second time is that night when they're at the hostel. The third time they finally talk while resting with a group. The fourth time, they meet in an elevator and decide that fate intended for them to finish the pilgrimage together. They talk about their lives, fears, goals...everything. They accept and indulge in their instant attraction to one another. Even though they only have days together, it was hard for both to say goodbye due to their connection.

Fast forward 11 months later and fate brings them together again. Connor's back home dealing with a family tragedy and is itching to travel again. Whitney is meeting someone for lunch when she hears her name and sees the guy she couldn't forget about. Their connection is even more intense...but will Connor's wanderlust take him away again?

I absolutely loved these characters. They're mature, intense, and aren't afraid to be real. Can't wait for the rest of the books in the series.

Journey of a Thousand Miles

Connor, full of wanderlust. Whitney, looking for something...more. Meeting up in Spain was magical, and both managed the parting with aplomb. But meeting up again, this time when things are different, causes them both to surrender to their connection, and work out the logistics along the way.

This is the type of New(er) Adult romance that I enjoy most; believable tension, real-life crisis, and relationship angst that tugs, rather than yanks, at the emotions. And hot, hot, steamy scenes. What this author is able to do with these scenes, is fit them to the relationship stage. So the attraction-stage intimacy is blazing, and the later scenes, slower, more connective, and still hot. Good work.

As always JL White tells a fabulously romantic, erotic, heartwarming, hilarious story. Whitney and Connor's story makes you fall in love with them and become a believer in fate and signs. I loved the detailed descriptions of travelling the Camino ( I'm adding to my bucket list)
If you're new to the world of JL White you won't be disappointed and will wnt more. If you're already a fan all I can say is " JL has done it again with Beautiful Mine " If I didn't need to sleep and go to work I would have finished in less than 24 hours. Hated to put it down. Looking forward to what's next with the Rivers family.

J.L. White never ceases to amaze me! I absolutely loved Whitney and Connor. Their instant pull for each other. Their desire for each other and willingness to sacrifice for one another. Their love goes deep to the bone and J.L. White portrays that flawlessly. I loved his Firework Girls series but I think I'm loving Beautiful Rivers more! I can't wait for Beautiful Fall!

I read this book back in 2017, but apparently I didn't leave a review. I love this author and after reading the fireworks girls, its a no brainer not to read her other works. This is book one of four in the Beautiful Rivers Series. Each book is written as a standalone, with no cliffhangers. But honestly if you started reading this book, I can assure you that you will be sucked right in. And as learn Connors character, you get to learn his family too. Each book adds a new family member, a new love, and a new drama trying to stop them. But you need Whitney for that too. You just have to read to see why.
