Doc Ock turns the Nullifier device (a new weapon that is chillingly like an EMP device) on Spidey! The radioactivity in his blood causes him to get amnesia! Doc Ock convinces him they are partners in crime! But deep down inside Spidey knows Doc Ock is a crumb! Great final fight!

Really enjoyed this story line and the different twists and turns it took. I felt we saw quite a few different sides to Peter and they were all so interesting. Doc Ock shows his scientific and conniving mind at work while Spider-Man is all kinds of confused and frustrated! Overall, definitely worth the read, one of my favourite story lines of the 60's!

The finale to a pretty solid arc, I enjoyed how certain things played out, like the ending, there were some ways that Spidey handled things that were a bit questionable and the way Doc Ock was dealt with felt a bit lackluster.

Amazing Spider-Man #56 takes a bold and entertaining approach with its unique premise: what happens when Spider-Man loses his memory and is manipulated into thinking he’s a villain? The result is a compelling exploration of Peter Parker’s moral instincts, even when stripped of his identity.

Doc Ock shines as a cunning manipulator, convincing an amnesiac Spidey that they’re partners in crime. The tension in watching Spider-Man wrestle with a nagging sense of right and wrong, despite his memory loss, adds an intriguing psychological element to the action. Captain Stacy’s return to assist in the hunt for the Nullifier adds a nice layer of urgency (and some amusing questions about his age).

The final fight is thrilling, and the issue ends on a memorable cliffhanger as Peter, still unable to recall who he is, stares into his reflection. It’s a dramatic, suspenseful close that leaves readers eager for the next installment.

In issue #56 of Amazing Spider-Man, Peter has amnesia and Doc Ock persuades the previously friendly neighbourhood hero that he belongs in Ock's gang of hoodlums. Comics!

All kidding aside this is an interesting plot device that purely relies on a test Parker's moral code with his memory gone he can only trust his intuition. Captain Stacy comes out of retirement (just how old was he when he had Gwen?!) to join the hunt for the MacGuffin that Doc Ock is in possession of.

The issue wraps up and Peter looks at his reflection and he still doesn't remember who he is. What a cliffhanger.

Despite the poor amnesia idea, at least spider-man doesn't get his memory back fast and suddenly to defeat Octopus. The development is also credible and quite good executed, with the rich supporting characters helping to feel the anguish over Parker's disappearance, adding a promising new one on Gwen's father.

Aunt May is so extremely gullible and naive, that borders the dumb characters' zone. On the contrary, Doc Octopus is becoming a very interesting character.

Another cool cover by John Romita, that keeps drawing one of the best spider-man art so far in the series and Gwen is close to the character that we all know.

We'll see where the amnesia plot goes, but i hope they don't drag it unnecessarily making it boring and they are capable of maintaining the interest.

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #53-56 (Doc Ock Wins!)

It’s sort of hard to review this storyline, considering the very crux of what makes it great is its culminative plot-twist. Because of my devotion to not spoiling the artistry of these stories, all I can really do is give it a high recommendation and leave it at that. 🤫

Berkat alam bawah sadar Spider-Man, pihak Angkatan Bersenjata di bawah pimpinan Kolonel John Jameson berhasil menangkap Doctor Octopus dan menguasai kembali nullifier. Spider-Man diloloskan oleh John namun ia masih belum ingat siapa dirinya, bahkan sekalipun ia telah membuka topengnya.
