Rate this book
New York Times Bestseller Dianna Love's Beladors are back and the surprises keep coming in an action-packed urban fantasy.

The Treoir dragon holds the fate of the Beladors in one hand … and his own in the other.

The Beladors finally have a true leader in Daegan, their new dragon king, but life is far from secure now that they’ve inherited his enemies. As their Maistir, Vladimir Quinn played a risky role in freeing the dragon from the lair of their enemy, the Medb. Quinn now faces a heavy price for his part. The Medb queen is out for blood. Vigilante killings erupt among Atlanta’s secret preternatural community and all fingers point to the Beladors. The dragon king has his first real test as a ruler when he has to choose between protecting his people and entering a hostile realm full of deities capable of killing a dragon. But as a two-thousand-year-old warrior, Daegan has never shied away from any battle. Quinn, Evalle, Storm and friends race to discover who is trying to turn the entire VIPER coalition against the Beladors before war breaks out. With the clock also ticking down for Quinn, who has been ordered to hand over Kizira’s body to the Medb queen, Daegan reveals an even greater reason to prevent the queen from using necromancy on the body beyond the secrets Quinn protects.

Freedom is never free. Not when the powerful gods and goddesses poised to decide Quinn’s fate see an opportunity to also destroy a threat to their existence – the last dragon shifter.

5 Candi Kisses and a Dragon King
Holy Smokes Batman!!! Just when you think the author has the market corner on one side, she throws you a curve ball and all bets are off. I LOVE Dianna Love...Her storytelling is imaginative, complex, exciting and oh so GOOD!!!!. Can.Not.Wait. for the next one!!! Well done as usual. A lot of times it seems as if the author has run out of ideas for the next book, Dianna Love obviously does not. The Imagination is Strong in This One!!!

I thought someone was going to get a second chance and come back from death... guess not!

I am really liking how the main plot is coming together and the overall character growth. The dragon is my new obsession in this series.

This book was fantastic!! From the very beginning, it draws you in.
It seems everyone is after Kizira's body. Quinn is doing everything that
He possibly can to make sure that he keeps it safe. There are new characters in this book, and Reese O'Rinn is one of them . She is also sent to Atlanta to retrieve Kizira's body for Ya'ahl, in order to get her powers back. When she shows up in Atlanta right in the middle of a fight. She is able to use one of her powers at a time as long as she touches a medallion. She is safe, but captured by Quinn, Evalle, and the rest of the team. She ends up helping them during one of their biggest battles to save the body from evil hands.

Daegan makes Tristan his closest advisor, along with Evalle, Quinn, Storm, Brina, Tzader and Adrianna. Together they will all fight against Queen Mauve, and Maeve.

I really enjoy these characters and how they come from all different backgrounds to work together for good.
Reese will be coming back I believe and very excited about that. I like her attitude. I think her and Quinn made a pretty good team, and would like to see those two team up again in the future.
I received Dragon King of Treoir from the publisher for posting an honest review.

Okay I have tried and this series has just let me down to many times to count after the other author left. I almost DNFed this book on three separate occasions it just feels like the characters are one dimensional and not true to who or what they were. There is hardly any heat between the characters any more and I just find myself not caring what happens to them. I did have a connection to Evalle and her but it just doesn't feel like the same character or voice that she had. When I am invested into a series especially after reading many of the books it is hard and I give the series probably more times to try than I should kind of like with the Anita Blake series but this is kind of like the final straw sorry its not me its you and it is time we part.

Here be Dragons: Urban Fantasy with exciting combination of action and mystery elements set in Atlanta

I’ve been a fan of Dianna Love’s exciting and multi-layered UF series set in Atlanta from the start and so far I have not been disappointed. Dragon King of Treoir is the 8th installment and heralds a new direction for the series. But before we go into that I have to stress that Dragon King is not a standalone, but very much builds on all the previous books of the series and without having read them it would be difficult to understand what is happening. From the beginning the series was set up as an ensemble piece with the interlocking fates of the three main protagonists Evalle, Tzader and Quinn, the history of the Beladors and the VIPER coalition which functions as a sort of policing force keeping the various supernatural factions in check and hidden from the majority of the human population.

In the previous book, Rogue Belador (Belador #7) Tzader was finally re-united with his Belador Princess Brina. The Goddess Macha was ousted from Treoir and the Gryphons freed Daegan, the dragon king, who had been cursed by Maeve into immobility to serve as her throne. The book ended with Maeve having cunningly maneuvered the tribunal into ruling that Quinn would be compelled to hand over the body of Kizira, his lover who was also a Medb priestess reluctantly serving Maeve and who had died saving his life during the battle over Treoir.

After previous books have seen Evalle finding love with Storm and Tzader finally getting his princess this book focuses on Quinn. Racked by guilt and sorrow Quinn entombed the body of his Kizira instead of burning it and scattering the ashes. Now he hast two days before he has to deliver it to Maeve who wants it to gain information through necromancy. The body might indeed hold crucial information and Quinn does not know what to do. But Maeve is not the only one who wants the body, and while Quinn is busy acting as maistir two other factions try to get their hands on the body while there is also an increase of supernatural attacks in Atlanta that the Beladors as part of the VIPER coalition have to deal with…

I have to admit that I felt heart-broken for Quinn when Kizira sacrificed herself to save him. But with many characters coming back from certain death and re-incarnating I was holding out hope for a happy end for Kizira and Quinn, but it has become clear that it is not to be. Instead there is a new character, who, though hurt herself, manages to shake Quinn out of his sorrow by her irreverent ways.

I really like the direction that the assession of Daegan to the throne of Treoir and the introduction of new characters have given to the plot. I can’t wait to find out where the story is going to go next and whether Quinn will find love again. The end seems very promising.

This is one of my favorite Urban Fantasy series. I love the Atlanta setting, the various supernatural beings with their different types of powers and magic, the combination of fantasy, action and mystery elements and that the story is following the fates of different protagonists that are all connected to each other.

At this point in the series, Dianna Love could drop a magical sinkhole into Atlanta and I’d just nod like, “Yeah, checks out.” Dragon King of Treoir takes the epic scale of the Belador world and cranks it all the way up—bigger stakes, deeper secrets, and yes, actual dragons. And not just any dragons—Treoir dragons, ancient and terrifying, and finally ready to take a more active role in this supernatural mess.

The plot moves like a freight train on fire: Evalle continues to juggle her position as gryphon leader, the ongoing war with the Medb coven, and trying not to die every five minutes. Honestly, she deserves a spa day and several therapy sessions. But instead, she gets more enemies, new revelations about her heritage, and a magical war that’s turning Atlanta into a demolition derby of ancient magic.

Storm and Evalle’s relationship deepens in a way that feels earned—it’s romantic, sure, but it also has that grounded, “we’ve survived hell together” weight that makes it satisfying. The emotional stakes match the world-ending ones, and that balance is what keeps this series from flying off the rails (despite being so extra in the best way).

Tzader, Quinn, and the gang remain absolute legends, backing Evalle up with the kind of ride-or-die loyalty that makes you want to join the Beladors, even if it means constantly dodging magical explosions. And Isak? I still want more of that man. Just saying.

Also: let’s talk about the dragon king. Without spoiling too much—his emergence flips the whole Belador universe sideways in the best possible way. It’s a game-changer, and you can feel the tension building for something even bigger.

Bottom line: this book doesn’t slow down for anyone. If you blink, you’ll miss a betrayal, a death threat, or a casually world-shattering magical reveal. It’s pure urban fantasy adrenaline, with just enough character heart to make it all matter.

Once again Dianna Love delivers a fast paced action packed continuance in the Treoir Dragon Chronicles #8.

As time constraints become critical in stopping the Immortaks and their push for world domination, appeasing the Tribunal, finding Sen and freeing an Oracle, even more pressure is placed on Daegen, Casidhe and the Beladors to fulfill their mission. Hope for a future free of Immortak control the driving force behind the actions of the Dragon King and his followers.

However, a Power grab among the other key characters is on the verge of culminating and it is likely only one will be victorious but at what cost to humans and preternaturals. Worse, Daegen and his followers are unaware of the power struggle as their focus in on finding the Grimmoires needed to imprison the Immortaks once again.

When trust and need are critical and essential, temptation draws Casidhe away from her mission and toward answers she has been seeking for years about her identity. Will she give into her desire to learn who and what she is or will the need to help Daegen supersede her personal desires.

The story, characters and action keep the reader engaged and seeking the answers and resolutions that await in the 9th and final Chronicle.

All of the subplots and characters in motion are racing towards a resolution. Not sure if all the outcomes will be pleasant. As a reader, I’m hoping that some of the evil characters get what they deserve. There is only one book left so we won’t have long to wait to see what Dianna Love has in store for everyone.

Treoir Dragon Chronicles of the Belador World book 8 seamlessly takes off where book 7 left us. Wonderful writing, the author keeps all the major players moving. This book has more revelations that you don’t want to miss.

This is a fantastic series and each book has been well-written and a joy to read. I look forward to the conclusion of the series and highly recommend this for anyone that enjoys fantasy or urban fantasy genres.

I received and ARC for an honest review.

Sniping shows cracks in Maeve and Cathbad’s partnership; a powerful, mysterious, cloaked being retrieves legendary warrior Lorwerth from tortuous captivity, bargaining to ultimately retrieve reinstalled dragon king, Daemon Treoir and Daemon proves to be what the Beladors need. Maeve is thwarted while throwing the snit of all snits and Macha’s down but not out.

Isaac’s prejudice keeps him from what he wants and he breaks an alliance. Also, the hunt for Phaedra’s ramped up and; demon huntress Reese O’Rinn’s tasked by ‘neutral’ Yaahl, to take Kizira’s body to sanctuary… but her powers are bound. Reese isn’t the only one after the body as Atlanta becomes even more of a battleground in this busy outing.

Love this book. So much excitement, action, anticipation, love and heartache. Love these characters more and more with each book in this series. You get pulled in right from the start.
I am so glad the Beladors finally have a great leader that cares for his people. The Dragon King of Treoir seems fair and caring of our main crew. There is still much to learn about him but so far he seems like one of the good guys. Can't wait for the next installment in the series. Very impressed with how this series is going. What more can you ask for when you have, witches, demons, dragons and so much more!!!!

Dianna Love is a supremely masterful storyteller. From the opening page to the closing page, I am always left stunned and wanting more. We have all of our favorite characters in this book. Some jaw dropping reveals! ( no spoilers) And some new friends that are just Wow! I love a book where I can immerse myself in it. Written so well you don't even mark the passage of time. The Dragon King gives you the peace the Beladors have longed for, but is that really what they want? And what's happening? Definitely pick this book up! Highly recommended!

When I first started reading this book I thought maybe I had the wrong book because it did not start out with evil or any of the main characters from the previous books. After reading for a little bit, I realized that the author was setting the stage in the book for a new character. The one thing I loved in this book was the fact that all the main characters from the previous books were in this one. I cannot wait to read the next book in the series. I’m hoping it is as good as this one or the previous books.

Deagon Makes Changes

When Daegon takes over as leader of the Beladors he brings about many changes. Some of the most important are the way his followers see themselves, Tristan in particular. He gives more freedom to the orphans and earns their loyalty due to respect instead of fear. He also gains enemies, some new and so old. These enemies put his people in danger. Again I was filled with anxiety. There are new characters introduced that will be important in future stories. Each succeeding back becomes my favorite.

Oh my goodness! I think this was the best book yet. It gripped you through the whole book. My daughter and I have been reading this series together. She is going to flip when she reads this book. I can see some big discussions coming. I love when the characters have snarkiness to them and Reese has that. It'll be good for Quinn. This is one of the best series I have read and can't wait for the next one.

The amazing Ms. Love is at it again, what she can do with her pen catapults you into a unique world/realm with dragon, druids, and witches. Again the readers emotions are subjected to merciless fear, militant relationships and super combative power that is good and bad. Friendships and love are tested and new madmen/women are introduced so our hero's are never at rest. Gripping and gut grabbing!!

This is an interesting book it kind of did a 180 I am really glad that Tzader got his happily ever after and got his Brina but Quinn seems to have to go through more bull just to be able to be happy he seems to be the newest toy for the gods to play with but he is a strong man in his own right that it seems they are using it just to make him immune to what they have in store for him.

I was a bit disappointed given the title and blurb on the back of the book I thought this was Daegon's story. It's really more about Beladors and the theft of Keira's tomb. We do learn a lot more about Daegon which is great and there's more relationship interactions with Izak and Adrianna.
