Truth be told the first omnibus, rating each story individually gave me like 4.4 or something just under 4.5 and I just bumped it up to 4.5 anyway because I loved it over-all. This omnibus the average rating comes out to 4.63!
This one was a bit of a mixed bag, so I'll take it story by story:
1) Rarity & Babs. This one was alright --good artwork, strong start to the plot. 3 stars
2) Spike & Princess Luna. This story was really interesting--lots of thought provoking issues of race and class, a bit of a film noir bent, and it was fun to see lesser characters like Luna and Spike take center stage. 4 stars
3) Applejack & Mayor Mare. I didn't think this one was very good at all. It seemed pointless, weird, and boring. The art was nothing special either. 1 star
4) Silver Spoon & Diamond Tiara. There was really nothing special about this one. The story was okay, the characters were okay, the art was okay. 2 stars
5) Twilight Sparkle & Big Mac. I strongly disliked this one. It was odd, disjointed, pointless, unpleasant, chaotic, and pretty ho hum in the art department. 1 star
6) Rainbow Dash & Fluttershy. The art was really interesting in this one. It wasn't my usual taste, but an interesting perspective. Pretty decent storyline with a heartwarming ending too. 3 stars
7) Rarity & the Cakes. This one wasn't that great. I'm not a huge fan of Rarity, so stories with her at the center don't tend to be my favorite, and this was no exception--I found her particularly unlikable and the story very predictable in this one. The art wasn't particularly great either. 1 star
8) Princess Luna & Discord. I liked this one. The portrayal of Discord was more nuanced than usual. The art was very creative, and I LOVED the nod to Firefly. 4 stars
9) Zecora & Spike. This was by far my favorite story in the volume. I love Zecora, and she and Spike made an excellent team. I loved their commonality in being outsiders and their interaction. I think the story line was fresh, original, and not easy to predict--I enjoyed the mystery of it. I found the art to be very expressive as well. All around an excellent read. 5 stars
10) Princess Celestia & Pinkie Pie. I love Pinkie Pie, so this one kept my attention--it was odd, but interesting and a bit sappy (in a good way). 3 stars
11) Fluttershy and Appljack. This was a rather fun and quirky story, with a rather satisfying end. 3 stars
12) Rarity & Gilda. Rarity is usually the worst, but Gilda so bad, she somehow brings out the best in Rarity. This was a pretty interesting tale, and Rarity shined for once. 3 stars
This omnibus dealt with so many relevant issues- including racism. if a my little pony comic can teach you how racism is bad, I don't understand how so much of the world still doesn't see it. I love these comics, you see so many characters you don't see much of in the show. overall very worth while to read
