F*cking Awkward Holidays

Rate this book
25 Authors, Awkward Sex, Epic Cause
Holidays conjure up many thoughts - long, chilly nights snuggled up by the fire, bare feet tucked under the one you love. Some are hallmarks of summer, when your skin is warmed by more than the sun. There is the after-Thanksgiving dinner nightcap, and the feel of the smooth, sultry burn of whiskey warming your chest, rendering your limbs heavy. Or lazy kisses and wandering hands beneath your best dress on a romantic Valentine's Day date.

But sometimes, Grandma gets boozed up and passes out at the table, your brother gets caught rubbing one out under the fireworks, your kids catch mommy kissing Santa (and not on the lips), your special new toy winds up in the wrong gift bag, a goat steals and wears your sexy new thong and watching the ball drop takes on a whole new meaning.

In other words, the holidays can be magical, but sometimes, they're also just f*cking awkward.

SCABBY NIPPLES by Kennedy Ryan

The Soul Series is one of my favourite stories so needless to say I jumped at the opportunity to catch up with the life of Kai and Rhyson in Scabby Nipples a short story within the anthology collection of F*CKING AWKARD HOLIDAYs. ★★100% of ebook profits benefit The Bookworm Box Charities!★★
Only 99 Cents for almost 550 pages of Awkward Fabulousness! Buy the book here-->

Within the confines of a short story Kennedy Ryan perfectly depicts the flavour of her characters and their story. Rhyson's charisma, their banter, dialogue and powerful love all strongly came through to me whilst giving me amusing scenarios that quite literally made me laugh out loud. I loved the humour of the piece and the way it juxtaposed with tender, thoughtful and heartfelt moments. I laughed and I swooned and I basked in their relationship. This light humoured short is the perfect addition to the SOUL SERIES and should ideally be read after the first two books in the series to garner the full impact of the scenes and avoid spoilers. HOWEVER, having said that, I believe this romantic and highly amusing laugh-out-loud short story provides the perfect glimpse into the writing talent of this author and showcases the characters of The Soul Series with a sprinkle of perfection. This perfectly awkward taste would no doubt leave readers craving the full story of one of my favourite book couples.

Scabby Nipples by Kennedy Ryan

5 "I have scabby nipples." Stars

Kennedy Ryan delivers a supremely cute and really perfect short story for two of our beloved characters. Inviting us back into the lives of Rhyson and Kai with this fun little interlude included in the F*cking Awkward Holidays anthology, Ryan gives fans of these characters something to feel warm and fuzzy about, a glimpse into the continuing lives of Rhys & Kai we will adore. The short holds the same great tone of love while showing us a playful and human side of their lives now. It definitely provides all those feels you're used to when it comes to their epic love story and journey. That's the beauty of Kennedy Ryan's writing. Even with just a sweet & short snack of words she envelops you as a reader, drawing you in so easily, and making you feel the love for her stories. Like you never left their side. Her writing is impeccable and the comedy infused with the love of these two characters cannot be missed.

Scabby Nipples is an awesome little short story in this anthology where all proceeds benefit the Bookworm Box Charities. If you've not read the entire Soul Series, three books already published please see below, featuring Rhyson and Kai this short will spoil you. It's a MUST READ romance series and Scabby Nipples is an added layer of icing on the cake.

Scabby Nipples by Kennedy Ryan

Sweet, Romantic Rhys and Kai. This couple is magical, enchanting and wonderful. Anyone who has had a child and has breastfeed will completely relate to Kai. That feeling, that connection, that overwhelming love for your child is out of this world, scabby nipples and all. Rhys and Kai's interaction and their surprise visitors in the bathroom make for a super sentimental, super funny fast read that left me smiling and feeling happy!! This couple always brings a happiness to my heart and if you are a fan and have read the Soul Series- My Soul to Keep, Down to My Soul and Refrain, get ready for a fun, fast, sweet read!!

Kennedy Ryan captures the essence and love that this couple has for one another perfectly in the short scene. She is an amazing author that gives 1000% to her characters and her words. She is an automatic one click!!

5 GUMMY STARS for Scabby Nipples by Kennedy Ryan

Oh my goodness! Just that title is enough to get you giggling like crazy and raising your eyebrows. I mean really—Kai's scabby nipples, FTW! And what a tease; I feel like I need more of what I just read! Kennedy Ryan does not disappoint at all. Her love for humor certainly stood out and shone here. It was short, sexy, sweet, downright hilarious and not to mention, awkward as hell! As much as I was laughing my butt off from this extra KaiSon scene, the author was still able to blend in that perfect swoon-worthy moment for the couple.

And please, can anyone actually ever get enough of Rhyson Gray and Kai Pearson? Personally, I'm pretty sure I can never get over of these two. I'll always want MORE. There's just something spectacularly unique about their relationship that will get you hooked forever. I'd pretty much eat up anything and everything this author writes revolving around and involving these two. So if you're a huge Rhys & Kai fan or if you've already read all the books in the Soul Series, you most definitely have to read this. Because KAISON.

**Must read all the books in the Soul Series first as this scene contains spoilers.**

I had the pleasure of reading The Miracle of Lights by Dina Littner which is a short story contribution to the F*cking Awkward Holidays anthology.

Wow! Talk about awkward. This short story finds our three main characters smack dab in the middle of the uncomfortable zone. Rosie, Mike, and Rand have a secret they've been keeping from Rosie's family. Choosing to surprise her family with this during the Chanukah season, we watch as they stumble into their admission of love, leaving a trail of bystanders with their jaws wide-open. It was a cute and sexy addition to this anthology.

I had the pleasure of reading a few of the contributions to the F*cking Awkward Holidays

Trudy Stiles story, "Garrett Who?", is "Christmas story" based on a guitar tech in the band Epic Fail which is a fantastic series written by Trudy. Turns out that Christmas dreams CAN come true. I found this story to be anything but awkward. It was F*cking Fantastic.

Laura Ward Rosner's contribution is called Happy Awkward Turkey Day. This story features characters previously introduced in Laura's NOT YET series. Grace and Dean go back to Dean's childhood home for Thanksgiving. He has a wonderfully loving, accepting family who all spend the holidays together. This story caused me to grimace, laugh, sigh and go awwwwwww all in a few short pages. AWESOME!!!

Ahren Sanders wrote: "Ambushes, Champagne, & Fantasy Suite - What could possibly go wrong?" Set around Labor Day weekend, this Bennett Brothers (who we met in Hotshot) short story shows that the best laid plans can fail and yet still turn out sexy. Did I mention sexy? ~sigh~

You don't need to have read any of the author's series to enjoy these shorts (but seriously, you should because they are great)

Besides being a fantastic book, all proceeds from this anthology will benefit "The Bookworm Box" and it's charities. A fun book and a good cause. It's a win/win.

Ambushes, Champagne, & a Fantasy Suite… What could possibly go wrong? By Ahren Sanders
OMG I couldn't stop laughing with this little nugget. Bizzy and Shaw have decided to start a family and they think a Labor Day getaway is a perfect time to start working on it, only Shaw's two brothers have other plans. I swear I haven't laughed so hard in a long time.

Sex On The Beach by Leigh Carman
This story revolves around Finn and Dex, who I met in Match Point, and this short scene was HILARIOUS!!! It was one of those...what could go wrong, will go wrong! It was a great addition to their story, like one of those blooper reels you see at the end of movies, but much worse! I can't wait to dive into more hilarious stories that this anthology is sure to bring!

Blow Me by HJ Bellus
This story had me laughing out loud!!! It's starts off with one of those fun holiday parties where everyone wears those ugly sweaters and turn into something else. The big kicker was at the very end and let me tell you, I am super excited to read the full story when it come out!

Miracle of Lights by Dina Littner.

I love these little awkward stories. Dina Littner delivers her part with a 3-Way story of meeting the parents and hilarious commentary. With this being a super short story, I still found myself cracking up, the characters were genuine and welcoming. If you need a good laugh and something short to enjoy, I'd snatch this one up. I'm sure the other stories are going to be just as fun.

OVERALL:
3 stars — I started reading this anthology in September of *2017*. I read a few, then set it aside. Then I’d read a story, then set it aside. There were a few good ones, but not as many as I’d probably like in an anthology. A LOT of the stories were more fan service, and so if you didn’t know those characters, they weren’t quite as exciting. Ah well. At least I finally finished it.

69 AND JAMES BOND — A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR by Taryn Plendl
3.5 stars — Both 69 and James Bond were characters I could see myself loving! I loved their chemistry, and bantering in the bar… And I appreciated the twist at the end.

REBOUND REVENGE FOR CHRISTMAS by A.D. Justice
3 stars — I liked both Baylee and Hunter, and they had great chemistry! But my enjoyment of this story was tempered by the subterfuge, and by the drunken state of Baylee…not super happy with Mia either. But it’s probably pretty normal for most people, I’m probably just sensitive.

AMBUSHES, CHAMPAGNE, & A FANTASY SUITE… WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG? by Ahren Sanders
3 stars — Probably would have enjoyed more if read the series and knew the characters. Maybe I’m in a mood, but the awkwardness felt forced.

MEET THE PARENTS by Amanda Maxlyn
3 stars — Saw where this was going pretty early on, so no surprises on the awkward moment. Was a bit uncomfortable with the way her boyfriend was pushing her…maybe just wasn’t written clearly, but it felt like she went along.

PORTA-JOHN’S AND FIREWORKS by Brooke Page
2.5 stars — I knew I probably wasn’t going to be as excited given the title, and I wasn’t. There’s just nothing sexy about porta potties, and especially not using an accessible one for nooky. *shrugs* Another one where the awkwardness felt forced.

TRICK MY TREAT by Carey Heywood
3.5 stars — I loved that this was a continuation of Sasha and Matt’s story, it made my HEA heart happy. I still liked both characters, but I wasn’t quite as entranced with this story. Matt’s Mom was a bit over the top for me…not much, just a teeny bit. And I cringed at Sasha’s insecurity and liquid courage talk. But Matt’s Dad was hilarious, and I loved the ending, it kind of endeared me to Sasha and Matt’s Mom.

HOOKED FOR THE HOLIDAYS by Christine Manzari
4 stars — This one entertained me. I was intrigued by both Cat and Huck (as well as Cat’s BFF). I found Huck seriously endearing. And the awkwardness was pretty funny, but I still got a happy couple in the end. Oh Pumpkin.

NOPE, NOT AWKWARD AT ALL by Christine Zolendz
2.5 stars — This one was also a continuation of Jane’s story from the F*cking Awkward anthology. Still wasn’t quite my bag, mostly b/c I just didn’t like Jane. And I’m always going to enjoy a story more if I like the characters. Kind of saw the twist coming from a mile away, but at least it wasn’t as cliche as the previous short story, so there was improvement.

THE MIRACLE OF LIGHTS by Dina Littner
3 stars — I guess the getting caught part was the awkward part, but the complications and emotions took over the story. I guess I was looking for more funny and didn’t really get that.

TURKEY TWERKING — a Shaw Creek Seduction Short Story by Eliana S. Peters
3 stars — I think I might have enjoyed this one more if I’d read the series and already knew the characters. It’s odd, but I felt like it was a little bit long. And again, the Mom was kind of over the top, and I just didn’t find her as endearing as I think I was supposed to. For me, there just wasn’t much that stood out.

UNDER THE MISTLETOE — a Rub Down Series Short Story by Gina Sheldon
3 stars — Another case of I’d probably enjoy it more if I’d read the series and already knew the characters. At least the awkward twist was original, and I didn’t see it coming.

BLOW ME by H.J. Bellus
3 stars — It was okay. The humour was a bit weird with the best friend, but…

SCABBY NIPPLES by Kennedy Ryan
3.5 stars — I’m sure if I’d read their story first, I would have loved this peek. It was still cute and funny, and I could feel their connection.

HAPPY AWKWARD TURKEY DAY AND AN ASSHOLE DOG by Laura Ward
4 stars — OK this is what I’ve been looking for. I’m actually curious about the stories now. Good people in funny situations.

SEX ON THE BEACH by Leigh Carman
3.5 stars — See, now this is how you make awkwardness just feel like part of the story. In general it was pretty funny, and the couple was fun…both became dickish under pain though. 😛

THE PERFECT STOCKING STUFFER by Lex Martin
3.5 stars — I liked the characters, even though you could tell their story was from a previous book. But the awkward was kind of lame.

NOT SO SECRET SANTA by Lindsey Iler
2 stars — Eh. I didn’t connect with the writing or the characters.

AN ORAL EXAM by Liv Morris
3 stars — Cute story, just didn’t stand out in either characters, plot, or awkwardness. *shrugs*

ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS AN ORGASM by L.L. Collins
3 stars — Lots of sex if that’s what you’re here for.

THANKSGIVING WITH THE MAYOR by M. Mabie
4 stars — This one surprised me. I’m NOT a fan of cheating, and so the whole fuck buddy thing doesn’t always work for me. But there was so much else working for this story, and the outside relationship at least didn’t sound serious or exclusive, so I was able to overlook it. I enjoyed the sexy times, I enjoyed Lena’s snark and sassiness, I enjoyed her family dynamics, I really felt like I got a lot out of such a short story. And I totally loved that hopeful feeling of newly realized feelings. Awkward mixed with romance, I guess. 🙂

PART OF ME — a Friendship, Texas (Awkward) Short by Magan Vernon
3 stars — I’m not sure. I enjoyed parts of it, but then I feel like I was missing the connection between them…like it felt fast. The awkward was pretty funny though.

GESUNDHEIT by Meghan Quinn
4 stars — I loves me a sweet, nervous, almost beta boy, and Andrew totally fulfilled that for me. He was adorable. Brynn was sassier than I’d anticipated. And while I cringed at the awkward part, the story left me feeling hope for romance, which is always a good thing.

SHATTERED WITH SHAME ON SAMHAIN by Mel Ballew
2 stars — Really hard to follow this one. I’m sure it would be easier if you were already familiar with the story it seems to be related to, but to jump in it was just confusing. And for me strange.

UNWRAPPED by Stacy Kestwick
4 stars — Okay, this one was pretty cute. Yet again, it’s characters from another book, but I still felt like I could connect with them enough in the short story. And the “awkward” part made me laugh out loud with Adam’s reaction.

GARRETT WHO? by Trudy Stiles
3 stars — Another story that was interesting, but I didn’t get attached to the characters, and in this one there was no romance, honestly just a one-night-stand thing…so didn’t have that to fall back on. Oh well.

I had the opportunity to read Mel Ballew's entry, Shattered With Shame On Samhain, and as with all her books, I loved it. Zander and Sylver have always held a place in my heart, as well as Jay. I believe I am going to love Nyx as much as the others. I think he's going to give Jay a run for his money in the best friend department. Seems like he's going to be the type that dishes out as much as he receives. I hope there are more interruptions in the books to follow because that was HOT!

I had the opportunity to read the short story Garrett Who by Trudy Stiles. I absolutely loved it! this story about a guitar tech who joins the Epic Fail band, Jake, in all his young, horny, glory seems like he could be my new best friend! Trudy definitely knows how to get you to connect with a character, even in a short story. It was so funny, and made me want more of Jake! I hope to read more about him!!

If you are looking for something to make you laugh so hard you are in tears, then this book is for you!! If you are looking for something to have you not just in tears from laughing but trying really hard not to pee yourself, then this book is most definitely for you!! I absolutely adored the first set of awkward stories in F*cking Awkward, and when I saw that there was a F*cking Awkward Holidays, well lets just say I couldn't click the button fast enough. Every single one of these short stories is awesome but my favorite two are from AD Justice and Ahren Sanders. But truthfully, they are all awesome!! I am going to be reading all of these many, many times!!! I wish I could give it more than 5 stars!

This book is everything title says it is. I have not finished the whole book yet but so far my favorite story in the book is by Lindsay Iler. It is a short story about Amanda and Rico. It is just the thing that you can imagine those two doing. I personally can not wait to finish reading this book and to read more about Amanda and Rico if the author every gives them a book of their own.

The Miracle Of Lights by Dina Littner

Oh my gosh, Rosie is one lucky lady! Two hot and sexy boyfriends who put her first always! This was such a steamy relationship these three had and I loved it. When they go to family Christmas dinner to share their secret, the awkwardness is at an all time high. I laughed out loud at a few scenes with Grandma. Another great story by Dina.

The Miracle of Lights
Dina Littner

I'm looking forward to getting my hands on the rest of this anthology. I loved Dina Littner's The Miracle of Lights. It's so sweet and filled with all the holiday feels you would expect like crazy aunts and nosy grandmas and uptight moms. Considering that I read this story in October, I honestly felt like it was late December.

But this story is also HOT...like dirty sexy hot. These characters are not having your normal cookie cutter relationship. They've got one hot little triad going. But it's believable and sweet and all of the characters, especially the boys, are completely endearing. Their relationship is real and relatable. I hope we get more of these characters soon.

Next I need to read Kennedy Ryan's story because KIA AND RHYSON!!! I adore that couple.

Fun holiday quickie! Sweet and lighthearted, with a little of the tenderness you'd come to expect from Sawyer and Jackson. And definitely awkward!
Poor Cammy is completely overwhelmed by Sawyer and Jackson's mom Ciara- she is a handful!
I'm not sure how the poor girl was able to show her face on Thanksgiving- that group is too much! But what a great group, family really, to be a part of.

All I want for Christmas is an Orgasm by L.L. Collins is I really cute and funny (and hot) little story about Johnny and Bex trying to carve out a little "grown-up" time during the holiday season. I loved getting this little sneak peek into their lives after the words "The End"

"Just as I was about to fall over the cliff again and take Johnny with me, the door banged against the wall behind us, and I heard the two words that would deflate my sex drive faster than a bucket of cold water thrown on me. “Mommy? Daddy?”

Not So Secret Santa by Lindsey Iler

As soon as I found out this was about Rico and Amanda I HAD to read it!!
When Lindsey first introduced Amanda in the Our Worlds series, I hated her with everything in me.
I was surprised, when the time can, that I was able to love her smart-mouthed , sassy self.
And Rico! gah! He's a smooth talkin' playboy, and prefect for her unattainable self.
The two combined make for a hilarious, and completely awkward holiday.
Now, if Lindsey could give a s a full length novel... ;)

Loved it, and I can't wait to read the rest!

MEET THE PARENTS by Amanda Maxlyn

This hilariously awkward story is about Brit & Scott. They decide to sneak away from the St. Patrick's Day/birthday party for a little sexy time together. Of course things get hot, but then... the situation gets downright embarrassing. The visuals I got while reading this were fantastic. F*cking awkward indeed.

I can't wait to read the rest of the short stories in this collection!

My review is on Christmas is an Orgasm by L.L. Collins.

I was SO HAPPY to be reunited with Bex and Johnny. Bex and Johnny are the couple in Sentenced, the first Jaded Regret Series. Sure I get to see them in the other Jaded Regret Series, but not from their POV like this novella. My favorite was seeing them react with their children. And I did get to see the other members of Jaded Regret briefly. I am hoping L.L. will do something like this in the future since I miss these two SO MUCH.

Miracle of Lights by Dina Littner is full of hilarity and hotness as Rosie struggles to break the news to her parents during their annual Chanukah celebration that she's one of a threesome. Littner's skill for storytelling shines in this short piece that leaves me wanting to know more about Rosie, Rand and Mike. Please, tell me there is going to be a longer story published about them at some point!

I read Dina Littner's story "Miracle of Lights". OH my gosh, so much awkward in this story!! I enjoyed the character's. Rand's POV was interesting. I would love to see it from Mike or Rosie's POV. You could tell how much they loved each other. The story did feel rushed in some places which is to be expected in a short story. I still enjoyed it, though. I would actually love to read more about these characters in the future.
