Fated Soulmates #1

Comforted by Love

Love is what happens while you are making other plans

Damian had taken care of his wheelchair bound mother since he was twelve years old, when his father walked out, leaving mother and son to fend for themselves. Life dealt them blow after blow, but his mother repeatedly told him “something good will come from this.”

Eight years later, he was juggling community college classes, a part-time job he was sometimes ashamed of, volunteer work at a community center, and caring for his mother. Biking to classes in a downpour, Damian was soaked to the bone. As he locked his bike to the rack, those words rang through his head once again. Damian wondered “what good will come from this?”

When Frank saw Damian volunteering at the community center, run by his sister, his first thought was “He is Beautiful” “Beth said I make people my conquest, and maybe she was right, but Damian was different. He was neither prey nor a notch in my bedpost.” He wanted Damian, couldn’t get him out of his mind, and didn’t know how to get him. With his sister’s help, Frank and Damian met, but it was not lust or sex that brought them together.

When a corrupt attorney and greedy developer attempt to push Damian and his mother to the brink, Frank knows he needs to help, but how? Can he help mother and son, develop a relationship with Damian, and not drive a wedge between them?

About the author

John Charles

When asked why he writes under a pseudonym, he explains it this way, "My birth name was John Charles, but shortly after I was brought home, my parents changed it to Larry. I never got the real reason and I still have that original birth certificate." When he decided to write and publish, he chose to use his birth name - John Charles.

As a youngster, he had trouble reading. While in college, he learned that he had a form of dyslexia. When he was taught how to overcome the issues it caused, a new world opened for him. He now reads constantly.

John loves to read M/M mystery romance as well as action / adventure novels. He can be found with his Kindle or iPad in his hands most of the time.

He spent years in the technology industry and found himself immersed in writing marketing brochures, and technical and operations manuals. Writing fiction was not his lifelong dream, but emerged after his youngest went off to college. The writing bug stuck and now he writes every day.

Being single and living at the beach in southern Delaware has its benefits, too. You can frequently find him walking along the water's edge before the rest of the tourists and vacationers have awakened. He says that the secluded beach time is most precious.

The plots in his novels come from real life situations. "I have always believed that real life is more interesting than anything a person could make up. I listen, keep my eyes open, and let the world give me the ideas that make my stories believable and interesting."

"I find myself enjoying writing more than anything I've ever done in my life."

Frank as a reputation of loving and leaving men. A predator. One morning, at the center his sister in law works for he sees a beautiful young man Damien. Damien is poor, working his way through college doing a little modeling a few days a week and taking care of his disable mother at night.
Frank assures his sister in law he isn't going to treat Damien like the other men, he is intrigued and really wants to get to know him. The more he finds out about him the more he likes him. When he finds out that Damien and his mom are soon to be put in the streets because the trailer park is being sold he decides to make a bold move.

This is a very sweet romance. Damien is perfect. Frank though at the beginning was portrayed to be the opposite took a 180 and seemed pretty perfect as well. I loved Damien. He is a sweet naive young man trying to do wat he can to better himself and take care of his mom. Once Frank meets Damien he is a good man and wants to take care of them as well.
If you are looking for a sweet romance to escape from the evils of the world this is one for that.

I enjoyed this book very much. The tickling scene was the only turn off for me and it’s just my personal taste. Overall it was well worth the read and I will read more from this author.

DNFd couldn’t stand the way Frank treated Damien. Some may find it romantic but i find it controlling & manipulative.

A wonderful story of unexpected love....

Having not read a book by John harles before, I was not quite sure what to expect. What I found in COMFORTED BY LOVE was a beautiful story of love and friendship between two men, Damian and Frank. Damian is a young man, looking after his disabled mother and trying to put himself through Community College. Frank is an older man who has a love them and leave them reputatio, that is until he sets his eyes on Damian.

This story was simply wonderful. The struggles of a young man and the changes and effects he has on an older man. It shows how their friendship developes over time - nothing is rushed or forced. It is a gradual journey from friendship to love. Frank genuinelt cares for Damian and this shows through by the things he does for Damian and his mother. Everybody needs a Fank in their life.

i tip my hat at John Charles for the way in which this story was written. There were no gratuitous sex scenes, which is highly unusual for a story about two men. Yes there were sex scenes, but they were written with elegance and style.

i will definitely be reading more stories written by Mr Charles. In fact, i have the second book in tis series already waiting for me on my kindle.

The story was sweet but from the first chapter I was disappointed that the cover didn't match the physical description of the younger character. This may be a minor detail to some readers but is an irritant to me. I'm hoping the author didn't have a choice in the matter.
