It's Just A Ranch

Rate this book
Mindy Clayton is burned out and needs to get away to regroup. When her parents suggest she stay at the ranch of some friends of theirs, it sounds perfect. After living in a big city, peace and quiet is exactly what she is looking for, and where better to find that than on a ranch? After all, it's just a ranch. What could possibly happen there?
The only thing she can foresee perhaps interfering with her plan for peace and quiet is Garrett, the ranch owners' son. He ignored her when they were growing up. Now that they are both in their mid twenties, would he still be rude and hard to get along with, or will he allow her to get the rest and relaxation she needs?
Mindy isn't there long before she learns that not only has Garrett changed, but that a great deal can happen on a ranch. When she finds herself in trouble, can the son who made her life difficult when they were younger be the one to save her now? This book contains the spanking of adult women. I enjoyed this book although I found it to be very slow moving. Garrett and Mindy is a cute couple that is just discovering a new relationship with each other and with domestic discipline. Garrett has been raised in a family and environment that uses spanking as a consequence for unwanted behavior in both children and females. Mindy was not raised this way and finds it hard to wrap her head around this approach to life although she is willing, once they start a relationship, to live this way. As the reader, you are able to follow their thoughts and feelings as they learn how to be a couple as well as how to deal with this dynamic in their relationship. Garrett makes some mistakes along the way but is willing to explore those mistakes, apologize for them and learn from them. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

IT’S A WONDERFUL, BEAUTIFUL PLACE, FULL OF LOVING PEOPLE

The year is 2003, and Mindy Clayton needs a place to heal, regroup and focus on her life’s direction. She has been dealing with a horrific event and holding in her feelings, dealing with nightmares and blocking emotions. Going to the ranch of her family friends, she is hoping to come up with a change in plans for her future.

Garrett isn’t happy when he learns Windy Mindy is coming for a stay, but respects his parent’s wishes. He is shocked when he learns little Mindy is closer to his age than he thought. What doesn’t set well with Garrett or Max is Mindy’s lackadaisical attitude about safety and rules. Mindy is looking for peace, quiet, and relaxation and can’t believe all the rules laid out by Max and reiterated by Garrett.

The story unfolds with heartache, tragedy, and the more Mindy talks, the better Garrett can understand and tries to help her cope. There is plenty of angst, attitude, and even comeuppance as Mindy pushes issues with set rules. When Helen and Max must leave the ranch to help their family, Mindy learns by action that Garrett is just as serious and stern has his father. Long, honest talks held accountable for actions, life and death situations, and must more keep the pages turning with a great cast of characters. With Mindy, there is never a dull moment. Love is brewing, and with feelings shared, also comes acceptance of domestic discipline. There are multiple spankings, all definitely earned, but always in a loving setting. There are no sex scenes, only implied and the story does end with an HEA ending.

Garrett and Mindy grew up as neighbors with their parents close friends. Mindy moved off to school and then to live in New York City. After being burned out, she needed a quiet place to rest and regroup. When she first arrived home and met the Stevensons', at the airport, her and Garrett had an instant attraction that took them both by surprise. Garrett and his family were quite welcoming but also let her know that there were rules to be followed and consequences for not following them, in order to be safe on the ranch. Mindy figured that after living in New York City that life on a ranch would be quiet, safe, and uneventful. Boy was she wrong and did she keep Garrett on his toes.
I highly recommend this clean western romance written only as Misty Malone can. This author writes a wonderful storyline with strong main characters and heart warming surrounding characters. There is family, friendships, excitement, danger, spanking, and above all a lot of love. Overall this book is a fabulous read and I highly recommend jumping into the story and enjoying! Garrett and Mindy knew each other as children and while she liked him, he saw her as an annoying little kid. Mindy moves to the city to attend school, after dealing with some traumatic issues she returns to the ranch to get away for a while. When Garrett sees her at the airport he does not recognize the all grown up Mindy, he is instantly attracted and wants to get to know her.
Living on a ranch is a big change for Mindy, Garrett and his father want to make sure she stays safe. Mindy believes living on a ranch is nothing compared to living in New York City and the rules are unecessary. Garrett knows just how to deal with this way of thinking.
I loved Garrett and Mindy, they were both amazing characters. This was a great read with lots of spanking and love.

After going through a traumatic event that she had difficulty even speaking about, her parents sent her to their friend’s ranch to find peace. The couple had a son, Garrett, who was a few years older and didn’t hold the fondest memories of the girl Mindy once was. But with time, she’s grown into a very attractive woman that he’s drawn to. Trying to convince her that there are safety issues on a ranch takes some doing, because she’d lived in NY and felt that far surpassed ‘just a ranch’. With lots of issues popping up, and Garrett being and old fashioned guy, things ultimately come to a head. I enjoyed this book. I voluntarily reviewed and advance reader copy of this book.

Awesome

This is a sweet, romantic story full of suspense with a totally believable plot. I loved the characters and the venue. A new appreciation for the services provided by E.R. personnel in New York on 9/11 was created for me as I'm sure was for others as well. We will never forget that day, but we will never know the stress and sorrow suffered by all who were involved in serving those who suffered injury or loss of loved ones or those looking for their missing. Thank you NYFD; NYPD; NYPA; and Thank You to All Medical Personnel and EMT Services. Awesome job, and thank you, Misty Malone!!!

I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book. Garrett and Mindy knew each other as children. Mindy's family stayed Garrett's family several times. Now Mindy has come to stay to get away and recover from past trauma. Garrett likes what he sees in the grown up Mindy. Garrett and his dad both believe in spanking and Mindy tends to blow off warnings and rules. She doesn't quite see the ranch as an important and sometimes dangerous
place where everyone depends on each other being safe. Sweet love story with little or sex, but enough love and spanking to go around.

This was a sweet love story with a HEA. Mindy heads to her parents friends ranch for some R&R after a recent burnout. She can't understand why the handsome and dominant Garrett is so concerned about safety as it is 'Just a Ranch' but she starts to learn. .....face down over his knee. After a few incidents and with the help of Garrett's palm Mindy starts to realise why it's not 'Just a Ranch'.

If you are looking for a sweet romance this is it. I found that it moved a little slowly, and some of Mindy's mishaps were the result of childish behavior. Although this was a contemporary story, it gave me the feeling of an historical western.

The book was ok. I didn't get any real sense of chemistry between Garrett and Mindy. It seemed more like he was taking care of a friend he really cared about, who needed his guidance.
