About the author

Helen Fielding was born in Yorkshire. She worked for many years in London as a newspaper and TV journalist, travelling as wildly and as often as possibly to Africa, India and Central America. She is the author of four novels: Cause Celeb, Bridget Jones’ s Diary, Bridget Jones:The Edge of Reason and Olivia Joules and the Overactive Imagination, and co-wrote the screenplays for the movie of Bridget Jones’s Diary and the sequel based on The Edge of Reason. She now works full-time as a novelist and screenwriter and lives in London and Los Angeles.

I am constantly wondering when Bridget will start to have thoughts that are not about pleasing other people

This is a cute short story set at the end of edge of reason, when Mark asks Bridget to come and live with him in LA.
Bridget doesn't really fit in in LA and has only visited Mark a few times in LA. In this story she tries to show Mark (on a trip home) that she has changed and is poised and calm and is perfect to be living with him.

This is admittedly funny, but Bridget really is an idiot. I'm honestly surprised she's still alive at this point... but I suppose she's an object argument that stupidity isn't always fatal.
