From New York Times and USA Today bestselling authors Alexandra Ivy and Laura Wright comes a new story in their Bayou Heat series… Sexy Suit, Blade was held captive and abused for decades. Benson Enterprises was desperate to use his superior blood to create super soldiers. But when he’s finally rescued, he can’t return to the Wildlands with the other prisoners. Not without the female he was forced to watch being impregnated. The female who has gone missing. Beautiful and broken, Valli just wants to run away and never look back. But with the shocking news of her pregnancy fresh in her mind, she wonders if that’s even possible. Told by her captors that one of the caged animals assaulted her, she knows she must do everything in her power to keep her unborn child safe. But when a glorious male tracks her down and claims her and her baby as his own, will she have the strength to walk away? **Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you'll enjoy each one as much as we do.**
I'm not exactly sure when I fell in love with books. Probably on my mother's knee listening to her read Dr. Seuss to me. I do remember that I was barely old enough to cross the street by myself when I discovered the delights of the local library. Could anything be more wonderful than spending summer days surrounded by stacks of Nancy Drew mysteries? Over the years I fell in love with Victoria Holt, Jane Austen, Agatha Christie, and J.R.R. Tolkien just to name a few. I read poetry, essays, biographies, and plays. In fact, I read anything I could get my hands on.
Years later (no, I'm not admitting how many) I'm still an avid reader, and my tastes are still as varied as they were in my youth, which I suppose helps to explain why I enjoy writing regency historicals under the name of Deborah Raleigh, as well as my contemporary paranormals as Alexandra Ivy. For now that is enough to keep me busy, but who knows what the future might hold!
I do have a few other loves in my life besides reading and writing, the most important being my unbelievably patient husband, David, and my two sons, Chance and Alexander. Without their constant support and belief in me, I never could have been able to follow my dreams. They are truly my heroes.
My FAV of all the Bayou Heat and Blade was the best (even surpassing Hakan) Hero! The Perfect Pantera! *Swooning and sighing simultaneously*
It was a strange thing, family. It wasn’t found only in blood—sometimes it wasn’t there at all. Sometimes it was found in the hearts and souls of those who were lucky enough to love.
Blade and Valli were put together in the most horrible of circumstances, and treated and abused like animals, so when they were finally rescued they get separated, and after being lied to, Valli runs and tries to hide her surprise pregnancy. But Blade would not allow for the beautiful and hurt female that was carrying his cub to stay away, unprotected and alone.
“It’s over now, ma chère. No one will ever hurt you again. I swear it on my life.”
Valli was hard to convince, specially when her brain was telling her to protect herself against the handsome green eyed stranger, but her heart end up winning the battle, because deep down she knew her connection with Blade was so much stronger than all the deceit she was told.
Blade was EVERYTHING! Absolutely perfect from the very beginning, even when Fate threw this situation his way, he was flawless in his reaction to Valli and her pregnancy. He recognized his reaction to her, and fought for them, non-stop.
“If you don’t want me to devour you right now, make you tremble and cry out, tell me to get the fuck out of here and never come back.”
He waited. Dying of thirst, nearly going mad, he waited. Their attraction was palpable and impossible to fight, so when they came together, oh boy, it was HOT! And made me swoon even more for this Pantera! My Fav, for sure. Sigh… <3
“Goddess, you feel like heaven,” Blade said, his eyes never leaving hers as he remained buried deep inside of her. “My heaven.”
If we had gotten even more in the end and more about their future it would have been the full 5 stars! Blade and Valli more than deserved it, but even though this is the standard ending with this series, I craved and felt we could have gotten a bit more on them. Nonetheless superb read and an all time PNR fav! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
I’m grateful. I want more. I want this to never fucking end. I want to touch you, kiss you, lick you, make love to you every day of my life.” His eyes met hers. “Don’t you see, female? Freedom is all the more beautiful because you’re in it with me.”
She belonged in the Wildlands. With Blade. With her mate. He was her true home.

Blade is the story of a kidnapped Pantera shifter and a kidnapped human woman who are tortured into an unbelievable circumstance: a pregnancy by force. You can read this story without having any knowledge of the world Ivy and Wright have created; they give you enough info to understand the what, where, and why of it all and jump right into the story of Blade and Villi.
Villi was kidnapped and inseminated against her will by Benson enterprises in their attempt to study the Pantera and find ways to use them as super soldiers. Villi and Blade both eventually escape and the story begins about 2 months later. Blade knows he has to find Villi and protect her. The story is a bit of his attempt to find her, then his attempt to convince her he is good, and then the attempt to keep her safe from Benson. Benson wants her back because she was one of only a few humans whose insemination was successful. Poor Villi-she was impregnated against her will, now has to come to terms with having a Pantera cub as a baby, finding a mate, and still being hunted by evil.
Since Blade is part of the 1001 Dark Nights series, it is short and sweet. I love these stories because sometimes a short story is exactly what I need to help break up my reading! I enjoy the world of the Pantera, I love the fated mates trope, and have enjoyed every Bayou Heat book I have read so far! If you like PNR that pits the shifters against a human enemy, Blade and the Bayou Heat series is perfect!
POV: 3rd Tears: no Trope: shifter, fated mates Triggers: Series/Standalone: standalone within an interconnected series Cliffhanger: HEA:
Blade didn’t miss her shudder of relief, the quick glimmer of tears in her eyes. Warmth filled his heart, and a rush of gratitude. Whatever her confused and angry feelings toward him, it was obvious she cared deeply about their child. “Then why am I here?” she demanded, trying to sit up. The Healer placed another pillow under her head so she could be slightly upright. “Blade was concerned when you fainted.” “Blade?” She whirled back to study Blade with a skittish gaze. “That’s your name?” His lips twisted into a humorless smile. “A little late for introductions, I know, but yes.” He nodded toward the male across the bed. “And that’s Jean-Baptiste. A Pantera healer. One of our best.” She frowned. “I don’t get this. I thought there was nothing wrong with me. Why would I need a healer?” “I said nothing was physically wrong,” Jean-Baptiste clarified. Her stunningly beautiful face tightened, as if she was offended by the words, her hand reaching up to brush away Jean-Baptiste’s hand. “I’m not crazy,” she ground out. “No one said you were,” Blade said, reaching to grasp her hand, which lay on top of the light blanket covering her body. Thankfully she made no effort to pull away from his grasp this time. He hated it, but he needed to touch her. To feel the heat of her skin and hear the steady beat of her heart. “Then what are you saying?” she demanded, once again turning her attention to the Healer. Jean-Baptiste chose his words with care. “I suspect that the doctors at the clinic used hypnosis to distort your memories.” Valli flinched, her fear scenting the air. Blade’s cat pressed beneath his skin, wanting out. It didn’t understand human deceit or betrayal. It only knew that this female was afraid and in need of comfort. “No,” she breathed. “You’re just trying to protect your friend after what he...” She didn’t finish. This time it was Blade who pulled his hand from hers. With a growl.See full review on The Book Disciple["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
Considering I hadn't read most of the novels of the series, I was surprised (once again) at how easy it was to get into this newest addition to the Bayou Heat series and Blonder story. This series, every time I grab a book from it, constantly reminds me that not only do I need to get my butt in gear at starting from the beginning, but that paranormal romances are totally worth it! (and not!)
4 breathtaking dreams
Reading Blade and Valli's journey was something. It was captivating and more than a little entertaining, and boy was I almost disappointed when it ended. This author duo Absolutely know how to pen a story that totally draws you in, even when you least expect it. This was not only a great addition to the Bayou Heat series, but also to the 1001 Dark Nights lineup. I really do look forward the next release from both series and will be keeping my eyes peeled for them!
These are two of my favorite authors so I am glad I got the chance to read this story.
This story was short and sweet and filled with emotional trama for both Valli and Blade.Valli and Blade were held by a monster and both suffered greatly but, for Valli they messed with her memories that made things even worse.
The story had a interesting plot and was filled with suspense and we enjoyed it.I liked and enjoyed both characters as they were easy to connect to.
I found Blade to be loving caring ,protective moody and determined.Blade was a sought after prize for his blood and breed and suffered greatly at the hand of monsters.I loved how his first thought after seeking freedom was to protect the mother of his cub and unborn child.I loved how he was with Valli patient and kind and caring. They had amazing chemistry yet he never pushed.
Valli on the other hand was strong and determined and protective of her child. She soldier on by herself even after ending up pregnant thinking she was raped. How to you trust the man who you think raped you?
Blade and Valli journey was not and easy on but Valli learning that her memories were false made it easier to cope with things. The unjust done to both Blade and Valli eventually made them form and bond and trust one another. It was sweet to see how they both acted around one another yet each denying each other.
For Blade the attraction was fierce him knowing Valli is his mate and she carries his child.I admired him for holding back his instincts to claim her yet he remained protective and patient. This was hard for him with him and his animal constantly waring with one another both wanting to take what was his.
A cute romance filled will love, healing, suspense, betrayals and great characters that we loved reading about. We enjoyed it and loved being on Blade and Valli journey at finding love.We are looking forward to getting to know more about these characters and its series.
This series has turned out to be so good. Each book I read I like more then the next. I think a lot of that has to do with the two authors. I really love both of their writing which makes it so much more easier to enjoy this series that they've written together.
The authors have done a wonderful job of writing this series seamlessly. If you don't look at the name on each of the books you don't know who wrote what. They have been careful to keep all the information consistent.
A real plus with a series with tow authors.
I really loved Blade. He has gone through so much and he's not done yet. His reunion with Valli don't go the way he thought it would. What she reveals to him shocks him.
He never hurt her but she doesn't believe...yet!
You'll find Valli to be very confused about what happened to her. She wrestles with the fact that she feels Blade has a attacked her, yet she's attracted to him.
By the end of the book all becomes clear but that doesn't mean that there isn't a few more hurts to come their way.
Being a novella I was happen to feel like I got a full story. Sometimes that doesn't always happen with them. When you finish the story you'll know that Blade and Valli got their HEA!
I would really read this series in order. I know, that seems like a lot of books but believe me you'll enjoy them. I just feel if you start with this one you might be lost due to the story thread that runs through them all. All the ones I've read are quick easy to read stories that won't take you long to finish.
I didn't realize how much I missed these guys until I jumped back into the story. You will want to have read the series --- at least some of it---in order to best appreciate this book. The story line continues through out but the bad guys are still the bad guys so it's pretty easy to get caught up.
The Pantera are still trying to learn as much as they can about Benson Enterprises. Every time they turn around, they are finding out new things about what this evil man has been up to. This book follows Blade as he searches for Villi. Both were held captive and experimented on over several months. During their rescue, Blade lost track of her. Meanwhile, Villi is in very real danger because of the secret she holds.
Still really enjoy this breed. I love when the males get caught up in that mate frenzy. I love the assurance of protection they provide to their females. This one turns out so sweet once they get Valli all sorted in the Wildlands. Still looking forward to a stunning conclusion with this series. Until then, bring on the Pantera!

✦Review & Excerpt Tour: BLADE: A Bayou Heat Novella by Alexandra Ivy & Laura Wright http://wp.me/p3d0RZ-9sj Publication Date: August 8, 2017 Genre: Paranormal Romance Reviewed by: Reading in Pajamas/ Cori Rated 4.5 Stars
BLADE is my new favorite in the Bayou Heat series. It had all the danger, suspense and hot romance that I’ve come to expect with the series, but this one also had a really sweet love story. Blade and Valli both survived hell and when they come together it heals both of them. I just really enjoyed this one. I’d recommend reading this series in order, but each novella can be read as a standalone. They’re novellas but they feel like complete stories. I love Alexandra Ivy and Laura Wright’s books and they make a great team when they write together. I highly recommend this series for paranormal romance lovers.

Blade is part of the Bayou Heat series by Alexandra Ivy & Laura Wright and is novella lucky number 13 in the 2017 1,001 Dark Nights series. I always adore a new release from this dynamic writing duo and this was no exception. Filled with a ton of raw emotion, I ate this novella up with a spoon.
I'm a huge fan of the unplanned pregnancy trope and seeing how the characters react to that sort of curveball. Throwing an element of paranormal and loads of emotional baggage the hero and heroine have to carry, and this story is a total win for me. I loved Valli and Blade, both separately and as a couple. The ups, downs and murky emotional waters they navigate as they not only try to heal from the torture they've endured at the hands of a madman, but also as they learn they will be having a baby was an incredible journey. Adding to all of that is a delicious amount of chemistry between these two. They burned up the pages and it made me love them, and their connection, even more. Truly, this couple goes down as one of my faves in the Bayou Heat world.
Whether you're a longtime fan of this series or this is your first taste, I know you will love this novella as much as I did! Thank you, Ms. Ivy and Ms. Wright, for a phenomenal read!

REVIEW: 3.75 stars--BLADE is the latest addition to the multi-authored 1001 Dark Nights anthology, and the twenty third installment in Alexandra Ivy and Laura Wright’s dual authored, contemporary, adult BAYOU HEAT paranormal, romance novella series focusing on the Pantera shifters of the Wildlands of Louisiana. This is Suit pantera Blade, and human waitress Valli’s story line. BLADE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but I recommend reading the series in order as there is an ongoing premise throughout.
SOME BACKGROUND: The pantera are a secretive group of puma shifters living in the magical Wildlands of Louisiana. Their existence is threatened by a group known to capture, imprison, and cruelly experiment upon the shifters in the hopes of creating a super soldier blending pantera and human DNA. The labs at Bensen Enterprises have been destroyed but the scientists and people in charge continue to inflict pain and suffering upon those whose lives they have tried to destroy.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Valli and Blade) BLADE follows pantera shifter Blade as he searches for the human female impregnated with his seed. Blade only knows that the female is on the run, somewhere near the Louisiana Bayou, and our hero is desperate to find the woman who may be carrying one of the few successfully bred cubs. Once found, Valli accuses Blade of hideous crimes, crimes that Blade knows nothing about. What ensues is the struggle to reveal the truth, and the building relationship between Valli and Blade that will be threatened when someone comes looking for our story line heroine.
BLADE is a quick read; a fast paced story of insta-lust and love between a pantera and the human who carries the hopes of their species. The premise is energetic but predictable; the characters are passionate and emotional; the romance is fated and intense-another pantera shifter will find his mate in the Wildlands of Louisiana.
The new Bayou Heat novella tells the story of Blade, a suit that was previously taken captive by the Benson company and later used in their experiments to make super-soldiers. Previously, we see him being rescued and taken back to Wildlands to recover. While he would prefer not to talk and remember about his time as a captive, Blade remembers vividly of the human female who was impregnated by his sperm.
Valli had come to Benson’s to be cured of the terminal disease she had, not realising that this would require blood from the panthera or that she would non-consensually become pregnant with a panthera’s child.
Blade has been searching for Valli, he is desperate to find the woman carrying his cub, he hopes that they could both find common ground and take care of his cub but Valli’s messed up memories of the time in the hospitals makes Blade the villain in the story.
I really liked Blade, though I do wish (and it isn’t possible with the word limit of these novella’s) is that we could have gotten a bit more of his feelings and what he went through when he was caged and what was up with his parents not really being much of actual parents. I also liked Valli, she had no one and had only herself to depend upon her entire life so it made sense why she at the start was reluctant to take the goodness she saw in the panthera at face value but they both worked through their issues. I liked how their relationship developed. Obviously with the connection they shared, the chemistry they had they both gave into each other easily but things as always get complicated when Valli ends up being in danger again.
I really enjoy these shorts, they are easy to get lost into, have good action and romance balance even though a part of me can’t help but wish that these stories were a little longer so I could enjoy all aspects and spend more time with the characters. Regardless of that, Blade is a good addition to the series!

I always look forward to diving in for a quick visit to the Bayou Heat realm. The stories, though novella length are chock full of humor, heart and steam, as well as a good dose of drama thanks to the enemies of the Pantera all the while moving the main story arc forward and Blade definitely had all of that going for it and more.
Blade and Valli’s story is much more character driven than some of the others have been, but considering what they went through at the hands of Benson’s minions, I had no issue with that. I I liked seeing how they were dealing with all that had happened to them both as well as working out the whole ‘You’re human, my mate and carrying my child’ issue and how it all worked out in the end.
The writing, as always, is engaging and each book flows seamlessly into next one. While these can be read as standalones, I do recommend that you read them in order to fully understand who the Pantera are and their social structure. So, if you’re a PNR fan and looking for a quick fix then Blade, as well as the other novellas in this series, are must reads.

The series ends with this novella without the global plot being solved. I've seen there's a spinoff series in the same universe by the same authors, I hope we get answers but as there are only 3 books I'm not hopeful.
The Bayou Heat series is a paranormal shifter romance series set in the Wildlands — somewhere in the bayous of Louisiana. The Pantera, the inhabitants of the Wildlands, are puma shifters. Once thought to be simply the stuff of legends and myth, discovery of the existence of the Pantera has caused them to be hunted to near extinction. The blood of a Pantera is magical, and is highly coveted by nefarious people who would destroy the entire Pantera population to achieve their evil goals.
Both Blade and Valli have been subject to medical experimentation at the hands of the villainous scientists of Benson Enterprises. The stunning puma shifter, Blade, is tormented and held prisoner for years while his blood and semen are drawn from him. He agonizes as he helplessly watches a human female (Valli) forcibly impregnated with his seed. Shortly thereafter, both are rescued from their captors, but during their rescue, Blade loses track of the female, now carrying his cub.
The gorgeous Valli discovers that she has no safe haven. Pregnant and terrified, she’s stunned when Blade, her supposed rapist, comes to her aid. More stunning is the fact that Valli is drawn to Blade, sensing he’s more of a protector than a threat to her and their unborn cub. Valli struggles to reconcile her growing feelings for Blade against the dark memories of her imprisonment. And while Blade continues to fight for the love of his mate, Valli, he’s determined to eradicate the evil that still poses a threat to the Pantera.
Blade, co-authored by Alexandra Ivy and Laura Wright, is novella 23 in the successful Bayou Heat series and the latest offering from the good people at 1001 Dark Nights. Blade is a quick, enjoyable read and you don't have to be familiar with the series to appreciate this story. If you are already familiar with the Bayou Heat series, you know that it’s always a heated adventure with the pumas in their magical Wildlands. Blade and Valli’s love story is full of the same fast-paced, puma-purring action and steamy sexual heat fans of this series have come to expect.
Well-written paranormal romance at its best, Blade is the perfect catnip treat for fans of authors Ivy and Wright’s puma shifter universe.
"Blade" by Alexandra Ivy and Laura Wright. Book 23 in the Bayou Heat series.
I really liked this addition to the Bayou Heat series about Blade and Valli. As part of the 1001 Dark Nights collection, you can absolutely read this novella as a stand alone as the backstory to the series is explained well enough so that you understand who the "bad" guys are and why they are so bad.
This story focuses on Blade, a Pantera (puma shifter) that was held captive by Benson Industries in order to create super soldiers. Now Blade is free but he can't stop thinking about the human woman he couldn't save. So Blade is on a mission to find her and find out if she may be carrying his cub. He lost and failed her once, it won't happen again.
Valli wants nothing to do with the Pantera. Especially after she was assaulted by one in a clinic where she was trying to get help with her unknown illness. She never thought she's come face to face with her attacker again. When he denies the attack, Valli can't believe it. She knows what happened...or does she? Her memory of that time is really foggy. Is this shifter really telling the truth? And how can they find out what really happened?
Such a good story line in this book. The pacing of the story flows easily and quickly, keeping you interested the whole time. The romance between Valli and Blade is hot and passionate. Both of their emotional struggles with there backgrounds gives depth to each of the characters. As this book is written by two authors, the transitions between them are seamless, making it feel as if one author wrote the whole thing. Congrats to both Ms. Ivy and Ms. Wright for that.
Overall, I really enjoyed this story and am really looking forward for more stories in the Bayou Heat world.
This was a quick read. I did not feel it had the kick I am used to getting from this series, but it was good. Blade is a strong male who knows what he wants and goes after it. He was tormented by the image of the female who was tortured and impregnated while he watched, unable to defend her. Now he is tracking her down to assure her safety and that of the baby he is sure she is carrying. He's also absolutely positive it is his child. Nothing was going to keep him from his legacy.
Unfortunately, Valli is unsure of her future and terrified to find out she is pregnant. The man she believes took part in the torture and eventual pregnancy comes to find her and whisks her away when she is in danger. She doesn't communicate with those who had been helping her survive, so she is sure they are looking for her, but she can't shake the feeling of comfort she gets from being around Blade. When she is able to understand that he did not in fact hurt her, she lets her guard down, but makes a near fatal error when she wanders too far from the protection of Blade and his friends.
The best part of the story was the twist I didn't see coming. I won't give it away, but it's worth the read for that alone. The rest of the story was a bit predictable, but this twist was excellent. Who can she trust? That's the big question. And those who appear to be trustworthy, might just be the most dangerous of all.
I love this PNR world with the Pantera, the Wildlands, it's so amazing.
This book is short, but packed with a lot. Although fast paced, you still have a fully developed romance, with ties to other books in the series through secondary characters like Jean-Baptiste (he's still my fav, but Blade, he's giving JB a run for his money).
Blade and Valli were both damaged and used by the same bad guy to further his evil agenda. No spoilers but if you've read the other books, you know all about Christopher.
She was forcibly impregnated. He was used as a blood factory and both his blood and other fluids were forcibly extracted from him. Nasty stuff. But, we get an even sweeter story, filled with moments where these broken people find each other and love. And family.
This book was definitely more character driven than others in the series. No deep dive into Christopher or the Pantera world, just a sweet romance. It was very very nice.
The Bayou Heat series never fails to disappoint. Super steamy, romantic, suspenseful, sizzling. Perfect Alpha males, strong women who can take them on. I'm flat out addicted.
We get no further in backstory which is annoying. Though good, this is once again too short and simplistic and we just don’t get anywhere in regards to back story. Like buying chocolate and forgetting you have it. Annoying. Valli was super naive and I couldn’t relate to her nor did I end up liking her. Though I did cheer her on against Fran. Human nature being what it is and she proved how selfish and self-centred humans can be. Didn’t matter what was used as long as she was cured/survived. She definitely ended up on the good end of this story with a Pantera male for a mate. Felt bad for what Blade had gone through and wished his life path hadn’t been sent in that direction. It then all wraps up with no answers as to what happens to the evil Fran and was Dr Richards stupid or in cahoots. This is why I leave these books to accrue so I at least feel like I have read some type of actual story. Nice to have Hiss as a supportive part of this story but I thought he was planning on living in the Wetlands with Gia. Read through my local library as I feel it is not good value for money.

I’ve missed the Pantera and the Wildlands. I always look forward to diving into a quick read but I’ve never cursed a novella for its length before. Hot damn I didn’t want this story to end. Alexandra & Laura’s writing is smooth and intriguing. They pull you in and keep you entranced until the end. But even then you’re begging for more.
With each book you are swept away into the magical Wildlands, entraced by the Pantera. I can’t explain what draws me to them but I can’t get enough.
There is so much story in this novella. There’s suspense, intrigue and romance. There’s insteam chemistry and steamy scenes. Blade is protective alpha with a horrible past. Valli is a broken woman also with a horrible past. Not by choice their world’s once collided but they’ll collide once again this time by need.
This series seriously could go on and on and I would continue to read it. I can’t wait for more.
Blade is desperate to find the woman forcibly artificially impregnated with his child. He has searched for several months and finally he's picked up her scent. But she's been told that she was raped by a Pantera. Blade takes Valli to the Woodlands hoping she will stay with him. Can Blade overcome her fear and anger in order to be a Dad to their child and a mate to Valli or will she fall into the hands of the Pantera's enemy?
Bayou Heat is one of my favorite series. I've read them all and I love them! I'm a little disappointed that there is only one novella in this book. In all the other Bayou Heat books, there were two novellas. New books in this series are not released very often, so I feel like I didn't get a big enough Pantera fix. That said, I'm grateful for this one. I liked the characters and the story line was engaging. The cameos by characters from previous books were nice. I highly recommend this series if you enjoy shifter stories with heart, adventure and suspense (and don't forget those gorgeous Pantera).
Blade by Alexandra Ivy and Laura Wright is a 1001 Dark Nights novella and part of the Bayou Heat Series. Blade is part of the pantera society, he was kidnapped and abused for decades. Valli is a broken girl, used and abused by the same company that violated Blade. But now they are freed. And here Blade picks up. Blade can´t let Valli go. He´s looking for her to prorect her and keep her safe. Both could be so good together, but secrets and lies threaten to destroy their HEA. Blade is a PNR book and not a standalone. I strongly recommend to read the previous book first. This novella is a qiuck read with beautiful words, a beautiful story and beautiful characters. I love the writing and the story. I give 4,5 stars. Thank you Alexandra Ivy and Laura Wright!
Blade is part of the Bayou Heat series and the 1001 Dark Nights series. It's the story of Blade and Valli. Both were kidnapped by Benson and subjected to horrible experiments. Once they are rescued by the Pantera they are accidentally separated. Blade didn't understand why he feels so desperate to find the woman he met in captivity. Valli doesn't trust the Pantera she was told horror stories about them. How are they to cone together and overcome the odds? Alexandra and Laura write amazing stories together. The Bayou Heat series is so well put together. The characters are so real. The stories so heartwarming. With each new story the Pantera become more real.
What happened? Both these authors are great writers but this story was just awful. Amateurish dialogue, totally ridiculous plot and the kind of unlikely insta-love that just made me shout wtf out loud. Seriously - being attracted to the man she thinks brutally raped her??? Really? Sure, maybe that could work in a different type of story - some dark erotica with serious kink. It did not work in a romance like this is meant to be. I gave it up after about 60% when things were only getting more ridiculous.
This may be the worst review I've ever given... Not regretting it.
I just love this series!! Blade is dealing with the aftermath of being held prisoner in Bensons lab. He is on the hunt for a human female that was there with him.
Valli is a waitress at a small town diner, after being saved from a life threatening illness at the Benson Clinic she finds herself pregnant.
The chemistry between these two is intense! I would have loved for the book to be longer!!
Sometimes, I just need some classic paranormal/shifter romance - and this series is a perfect choice to hit the spot considering they're short and sweet. Another great addition to an already awesome series.
This book was a guick read for me. It is a very engaging book and kept my attention the whole time I was reading this. The characters pull you in and you feel their pain, joy and love. It was as if I was there with them in the flesh as the book unfolded. Ms. Ivy is an exceptional writer. This is the 1st book in this Series that I have read. I can't wait to read the next book.
3.5 I read this as part of 1001 Nights book. I enjoy the paranormal and I knew going into this the sex would be graphic and too much for me. But the characters are always so well done, that I bit the bullet. Except for the detailed graphic sex (enough that if it was a movie would be x rated) I enjoyed Blade and the plot. If you like erotica you will love the book.
Having never read any of the Bayou Heat stories I expected to be lost but the authors did a really good job of making their world real and easy to enter. I loved that Blade was so invested in finding the mother of his cub even though he had very little to do with its creation. There were twists and turns I didn’t expect that made this a terrific story and one I will revisit often.
