Karuho Shiina was born and raised in Hokkaido, Japan. Though Kimi ni Todoke is only her second series following many one-shot stories, it has already racked up accolades from various "Best Manga of the Year" lists. all these goodreads peeps talking about kimi ni todoke 'overstaying its welcome' and meanwhile i'm here like 'hi hello, have you heard of a good book where everybody is full of feelings and it's all paperback so you don't injure yourself every time you throw your face directly into the spine because you can't deal?'

in conclusion: all of these children love each other and are journeying forward in becoming mature adults who are great at expressing their (many and beautiful) feelings

Es Navidad y es momento de celebrar, aunque por los exámenes los chicos no pueden divertirse como antes.
Chizu y Ryu festejan al lado de Tooru y Chizu le cuenta que está saliendo con Ryu cosa que pone feliz a Tooru y recuerda que esto era lo que quería su mamá.
Yano se encuentra con Pin, ella no sabe cómo actuar frente a él , u este no se da cuenta de nada, pero es muy amable.

En el cumpleaños de Sawako fin de año. deciden ir al templo pero una tormenta de nieve los obliga a quedarse en la casa de Kazehaya, ahí él le da su regalo y una promesa para el futuro.

Al día siguiente todos van al templo a pedir lo mejor para el nuevo año

I cannot believe that I’m almost done. There was so much goodness on this volume.

All three couples had sweet moments and 2 of them had smuchy moments. I cannot wait for Ayane and Pin 😍

Can we just gush about how S&K kissed until they got flustered!! 🥳🥳

But my favorite scene Is when Sawako and Kazehaya’s dads take the tea together 😍

I’m so saaaad and excited at the same time!

3.5/5 Almost done 2 volumes left. Volume 28 offers some fun interactions between Ayane and Pin.

The highlight is Sawako getting stranded at Shota’s house during a blizzard on New Years Eve.

The final chapter is the entire class visiting the shrine on New Years Day along with Pin. This seamed like a nice opportunity to say good by to some of the side characters who were along for the ride.

gosh out of all the volumes i think this one is up there with the favourites! everyone is so grown up and happy and things are just coming together. i loved that sawako and kazehaya had a sleepover (not anything mature yet hehe) but it was just so wholesome and it was new years, the ring he gave her melted my heart.

chi and ryu are properly together and told toru and that was just lovely.

ayane is finally in love and even if it isn’t necessarily returned (don’t know if it will be yet) but it’s just so nice to see her relaxed and happy than she was.

the panel work in this was beautiful. only downfall is i know i have 2 volumes left now and once i’ve read those i’ll have no new content of these characters (´༎ຶོρ༎ຶོ`)

No sé a qué viene la portada si no vi a Kurumi más que en dos páginitas. Bueno, da igual, esté volumen parece tener más contenido acorde con la portada 29 porque habla más de eso, en serio.
No me quejo porque igual me gustó el volumen, pero creo que la portada no describe para nada el contenido del volumen.
Yendo a lo de mi agrado, no puedo evitar repetir que Kazehaya y Sawako son tan lindos juntos, son demasiado tiernos. Y Amé cuando la mamá de Kazehaya le dijo que no haga nada raro, fue muy gracioso. También me sorprende lo rápido que vuela el tiempo dentro de este manga, pues ya están en su tercera navidad ¡Ya han pasado 3 años desde que Sawako conoció a Kazehaya y sus amigas! Y este año nuevo fue muy tierno para la pareja protagónica, empezando por el regalo y como Sawako confunde cuál es su verdadero regalo, es gracioso y tierno. Ni mencionar el significado del regalo. Por cierto, Kazehaya es muy malo calculando, quién ya leyó el tomo entenderá.
Estoy pensando que quizá el hermano de Ryuu y Pin tengan la misma edad, parece que sí porque son y eran demasiado amistosos como para ser solo una relación de exalumno y profesor. Pero si tienen la misma edad tal vez Pin no es tan adulto.
Y fue lindo ver al hermano de Ryuu con su familia ya formada y su Familia de siempre convivir juntos, también con Chizuru.
No olvido a Ayane, que nunca la he visto así, se ve tiernaaaaaaaaaaa.

After so many years since I started reading "Kimi Ni Todoke", I have to say that I´m growing tired of this universe and how stuck the characters and their lives seems to me.
Even though when I first started reading this manga I truly enjoyed how much Sawako grew her confidence and self-esteem, I have to say that her relationship with Kazehaya seems almost the same when they started dating or having feelings for each other.
For me, the characters that made my read worth are Ayane and Pin.
I´m one beyond many that want to see their relationship grow and see Ayane´s feelings reach Pin.
It truly is refreshing to see her finally having feelings for someone and to see how much love changed her.
Hope the next volume brings some development not only into their story but also into everyone´s character.

I just wrote a 5-star review about Nisekoi: False Love, Vol. 25: False Love, the series finale, where I mentioned manga that have overstayed their welcome. This series is firmly in that category. I mean, this volume is still pleasant to read, but we are deep into the realm of unnecessarily drawn-out noodling as we meander toward a conclusion. This might have been an all-time favorite series if it had ended five to ten volumes back, instead of being just a good one now.

Ayane refuses to tell Pin (Mr. Arai) that she likes him because he is respected teacher at their school, even though she’s completely fallen for him and told her friends all about it. Meanwhile Sawako and Kazehaya are enjoying their Christmas break and spending more time together outside of school. Chizuru and Ryu are also spending time together when she realizes that Ryu hasn’t told Toru (his brother and Chizuru’s first love) about them yet, which makes Ryu a little jealous. However, when they tell Toru he is so happy for them. Over by the school, Pin is not coping well with being single on Christmas, especially with all the couples he keeps seeing. He runs into Ayane, and chides her for being hit on by so many guys. He offers to walk her home to get rid of the horde of men asking her out. But she gets mad at him after he calls her a kid.

Toru and his wife Haruka come with their baby daughter Ayu to visit the family and Chizuru falls a little in love with her. A snowstorm develops on New Years Eve, which also happens to be Sawako’s birthday, but neither she nor Kazehaya can wait to see each other so they both brave a snowstorm to do so. Kazehaya gives her a ring and promises to give her a wedding ring in the future, as they ring in the New Year together. The whole gang gets together the next day for New Years Day at their local shrine to pray for good fortunes and Chizuru has invited Pin, which makes things super awkward for Ayane after their last meeting. The girls reminisce about the last couple of years they’ve been friends and wish each other well on final exams to graduate high school. Recommended for ages 14+, 5 stars.

If I didn’t already love this series, I can see how this series could drive a person crazy with its saccharine-y sweet scenes of first love and teen angst. And this volume had both by the dozen. I however just see it as just a fun shoujo series and being a hopeless romantic at heart, the adorable parts are even more adorable.

There were so many sweet and hilarious scenes in this volume. For example, the line that Sawako says early on, “Everything I dreamed when I entered high school came true with you [i.e. getting more friends and a boyfriend so she has people to hang with].” And then she and Kazehaya exchange gifts and they get so embarrassed just holding hands. It is too cute! And oh my goodness, when Sawako can’t go home because of the snowstorm and has to stay at Kazehaya’s house and their faces are priceless, especially after he gets a sex talk lecture from his mom twice! Then there is the gift-opening scene, which was so sweet I wanted to cry, but also laugh a bit because they’re still so awkward together after all this time.

I also love when Ryu and Chizuru are at his house, and he leans in for a kiss when Chizuru is fixing his Christmas antlers. Ooh and when Ayane sees Pin with his hair down and she gets so excited to see him, and then can’t help harassing him like old times. And later when they’re walking home together, I love when he tells her “to stop smelling so good,” like it’s something she could stop. After the snowstorm, on New Years Eve Day, Chizuru’s reaction to Sawako and Kazehaya-kun getting “lovey-dovey” was hilarious and reminded me of a similar reaction to Kyo in Fruits Basket with the protagonist’s two best friends. Overall, this was one of the best volumes yet and I can’t wait for volume 29, even though I know they will probably end the series in a couple of volumes.

Even if they don't end up together (they most likely won't) I hope they both end up finding love like the others did
I'm also glad that Kento and Ayane are still friends, I hope that Kento will find another girl to love like he loved Ayane
Aaaaaa two volumes left! It really feels like I've been on a long journey with the characters and I can't wait to reach the destination!

Yo quiero mucho a Chizuru y a Ryu y amo cómo se nota que a ambos les gustan los bebés, tan solo ver cómo interactúa Chizu con la sobrina de Ryu se me hizo tierno. Me agradan mucho y me dan vibras de esas parejas superamorosas con familias bonitas.

Ahora, Ayane, ay, ella. Me agrada que entienda hasta qué punto puede estar enamorada de Pin, porque es muy consciente de que es su profesor, es mayor que ella y en realidad no sería alguien que saldría con una menor. El asunto es que Ayane tiene problemas de autoestima y por eso tiene dificultades para relacionarse con las personas de forma abierta. A ver qué pasa que me quedan dos tomos nada más.

My copy of the book finally arrived!!! So of course as soon as I got my hands on it I got straight to reading it. This was a fun volume. First of all, I don't know why Kurumi is on the cover, she's not really in this volume. Anyway, the volume covers the time period from Christmas to New Years. We get a lot of fluff (Cute moments) with all the main ships. I was weary about Ayano and Pin at first, but the past couple of volumes have led me to cheer it on.
May... Volume 29 doesn't come out until May. Dammit. That is so far away!! I said that last time too...

Nunca había a visto tan atractivo a Pin como lo vi en este tomo... Creo que hasta me he enamorado de él 😋

Pero es que la personalidad de Pin solo me dejaba la sensación de conocer a alguien cómico, pero que con el paso del tiempo nos mostró el cariño que sentía por sus alumnos. Es un hombre Sabio.

Por otro lado tenemos a Kazehaya siendo una ternura con Sawako y ambos son miel en su máximo esplendor.

Ya hasta tenemos para fangirlear por meses.

Y luego... Tenemos a Sanada, siendo menos Sanada y vemos a un hombre enamorado...

Les juro que este es por mucho uno de mis tomos favoritos

Chapter 114 was everything!!! (and the reason I gave this volume five stars).

Even though KNT’s pace is incredibly slow I really like how natural it feels, more than romance I think this should be considered a slice-of-life: growing up, learning new things, discovering new aspects of yourself and others, finding your own path in life... all these are topics portrayed in this manga and I really enjoy how the author handles them.

It is slow but it also makes you feel like you are growing up with the characters and I like that.

Hilariously, this volume takes place entirely within winter, so the time roller coaster continues but makes sense, plus it’s the season of romantic Christmas, and Sawako’s birthday 😉, and the New Year. I know there are only 2 volumes left, but I can also feel it in the story. How lucky for Sawako and Shota (and the readers as the story wraps up) that they have to shelter during a heavy snowstorm and get to play (100% G-rated) footsie under the kotatsu 🥰 not to mention all the promises (made by many characters) throughout the volume !!

Altro volume che trasuda dolcezza e tenerezza a non finire, altro che carie ai denti. Ryu e Chizu. Sawako e Shota (con i rispettivi padri che si conoscono e con tanto di regalo di anellino a forma di cuore). E la povera Ayane presa via per Pin, anche se lui non sembra essersi accorto di nulla...ma con Pin non si può mai dire 😂
La fine dell'anno segna l'avvicinamento degli esami, del diploma e della fine di un periodo particolare della vita dei nostri protagonisti, che presto saranno chiamati a prendere ciascuno la propria strada. Mancano due volumi alla fine, vediamo se Pin si sveglia.

Sawako and Kazehaya were so *CHEF KISS* in this volume. Them spending the New Years' together, the promise ring... I'm kicking up my feet!

Chizu and Ryu look so much more comfortable around each other as a couple now, they are adorableee

And this Ayane and Pin plot... I really REALLY am rooting for you to keep it together, Mr. Arai. However, I think it is cute to see this side of Ayane, it's refreshing for her character.

Only 2 more volumes to go to finish this story, I really have procrastinated it for so long cause I don't want it to end TTTT

This was one of my favorite volumes! Kazehaya and Sawako have come so far in their relationship. I love how comfortable they are with each other now. AND THE RING!!!!!!!!!!!!! Kazehaya promising to give Sawako a real one someday had me freaking out!!

I know nothing is going to happen with Ayane and Pin (at least for now 👀) but in the final panel when everyone was lined up in couple pairings, they were together and it was so cute! Maybe when Ayane is older they will meet again….

It is winding towards the close at a steady pace, and I am enjoying watching the various characters achieve new moments of maturity. I am pleased by how the 'student has crush on teacher' trope is being handled here -- gracefully, sensitively, intelligently. Shoujo has come a long way in twenty years.
