Jeffery Archer began the Clifton Chronicles with a fascinating storyline. Book 2 continued weaving the storyline into a new story, and another story, and so on. I enjoyed the historical aspects of the book but did not enjoy the continued intricate conversations that could have been cut short. Some of it was just unnecessary. Lol One thing that was missing and was vital. And could've been better served by those extra words were descriptions. The books spanned over 60 years. Within that 60 years, clothes, furniture, houses, cars, and hairstyles all changed. Within that 60 years, the main and minor characters grew, got older, and changed physically. None of which was described in any of the books. Because there were no updated descriptions of persons, places, or things, I spent a large amount of time trying to reconcile those things with how they were supposed to look for the dates given in the books. No descriptions. 3 stars.
I loved this series. They were easy to read, accessible and yet the often subtle twists and turns are compelling, interesting and kept me wanting to turn the page.
