Beautiful Assassin was a story I enjoyed for the most part. This was a mob romance full of gritty action as well as a slightly forbidden love story.
Stefan Valentino is not a good man. He’s a contract killer serving one of the most dangerous Italian crime syndicate in Australia, the Morettis. Death is all Stefan knows. He kills for a living and he has no regrets. Stefan never balks from getting the job done, no matter how unpleasant. He’s a cold-hearted trained professional, always in control and pulling the trigger has never been a problem for him, until he’s handed his next kill order. Cammie Connors, successful doctor and girlfriend of Christiano Russo, son of Don Marco, head of the notorious Russo family and Morettis' biggest enemy.
For weeks, Stefano has been following Cammie, playing some mind games with her and allowing her to catch glimpses of him. He can’t help to admire her. She’s beautifull, intelligent, and compassionate and she brings out feelings in him that he doesn't know what to do with. Stefan knows that Cammie has to die no matter what, yet he can’t do it. For him, Cammie is innocent, nothing but a good girl trapped in a bad situation, but sparing her life might also be his downfall.
When circumstances lead him to thrust into Cammie’s life, Stefan finds himself struggling with trying to protect her while being loyal to the Mob. His resolve and loyalties being tested, will Stefan go against the code he lives by when the time comes to turn against her ?

Cammie is tired of the life she has been living for the last decade. Ten years ago, she saved Christiano’s mother while she was still an undergrad in med scool. A night that changed the entire trajectory of her life. Since then, she’s been stuck in this intricate dangerous world and too far under the thumb of the mob to free herself. She’s now a woman trapped in a dysfunctional and detrimental relationship with Christiano. But for the outside world Cammie is the Russo’s beloved princess which makes her the target of the Morettis. Cammie can feel that someone is stalking her, that a hitman is out there to kill her. The single white rose he leaves her every day are swift reminders of her impending death. Strangely instead of sending her scrambling in a panic, Cammie can’t help to feel something for this dangerous man. Little did she know that sometimes your ennemy is the only one who can save you.
"For a long time I thought I was broken. Christiano wore me down. The pills I took wore me down. Hell, every aspect of my life was wearing me down. It wasn’t until Stefan snuck into my life that I started feeling again. Excitement. Fear. Arousal. All of it. I can’t go back to feeling nothing."
I liked this book overall. I thought the storyline was good and well-written and it held my interest the whole time. There was a slow build-up between Cammie and Stefan but there was also plenty of action to break up the sexual tension. I enjoyed both characters but didn’t fall in love with them because it took me awhile to be fully invested in their relationship. All in all, I was pleased with the way things turned out for these two but I think it could have been a lot better. The ending felt rushed, and since that's where the most interesting action happened with the final confrontation, it was a bit disappointing. This looks to be a standalone because we did get an epilogue but for me it was more a promise of HEA than the kind that leaves me with a big smile on my face. Hopefully we will get more of this couple in the next book!

Whenever I'm asked to recommend just ONE of my books, Beautiful Assassin is the first title that comes to mind. Stefan & Cammie's story was so much fun, and it was the first book I'd written in YEARS where the words simply poured from my fingertips. At this stage, there's no definite confirmation on a sequel. I'm focusing on completing my outstanding works (Deliver Us & The Misfortunates), but I do hope to revisit Stefan and Cammie in the future.

OMG! This is one of those books where I had no expectations whatsoever and I freaking LOVED it!!! The dark romance fed my wild side and I was like a drug addict while reading it. Yes, I was addicted to this book. Even if dark romance isn't your thing, give this a chance. You'll be surprised, like me.

Although Mafia, this story is not for me. The mafia angle is weak, the characters are underdeveloped and scattered.
I am unsure what the author wished to convey. Please consider other reviews if on the fence regarding purchasing. This review is my opinion of the book content only.

OMG! This is one of those books where I had no expectations whatsoever and I freaking LOVED it!!! The dark romance fed my wild side and I was like a drug addict while reading it. Yes, I was addicted to this book. Even if dark romance isn't your thing, give this a chance. You'll be surprised, like me.

Beautiful Assassin has been in my library for a while now,and it was high time i read it.
I háve read stories by Skyla Madi before,and liked those,so it seemed like a good choice to buy at the time.
Cammie regrets saving Christiano’s mother every day since.
Because she ended up caught in a trap she can’t seem to get out of….
Destined to marry a man she loathes,with a lifestyle she hates.
Not even allowed to become the doctor she wanted to be.
Until the enemy decides she’s their next target.
And all that because Chris killed their bosses’ wife.
Only the assassin that’s supposed to do the killing,does something else……
He takes her with him,and ends up falling for her.
Ever since Cammie knew she was been followed,she felt something she couldn’t exactly explain.
Finding out by who frightens her,but excites her too.
Knowing Stefan’s going to kill her may be frightening,but the life she has now is no life….at all.
Until there’s another option…..or is there?

Falling for the enemy of the man ruining her life gives this “relationship” an extra edge.

I have discovered Skyla Madi's work a long time ago with Slammed (a sport action angsty packed romance) and then after that I have been slowly catching up on her books...
She has an exceptional writing style where she combines action filled plot with steamy hawt sequences without breaking a pace in her storytelling and that is smth I really thrive to feel in any book I read.
Even though the blurb of this book sounded intriguing and thrilling, I found no real connection to the characters...and the time span spent describing the 'bad relationship' the heroine was suck into, at first, gripped me on a more 'realistic' level, making me think this might be a different kind of existencial drama of a girl who got accidentally cought up with the mafia and couldnt find her way back out of it....but then the flow of the story turned into a mush...
The appearance of the 'beautiful assassin' who stalked her cause she was his contract made by the rival mafia family, not only prooved to be mushy but this killer was way out of his league or should I say, he was acting not like a killer at all....lol
And I never thought I d say this but I ve missed that 'badass cruel' way of conduct and I just thought the story would go a different way...
Nevertheless, it's still action packed with fast pace...but there's not enough connection for me to believe there's more going on other than lust induced interactions...and maybe that is enough for men to go all bat shit cray cray for a girl but it looks a bit frantic to me...lol

This is the second book that i have read by Skyla Madi, and like the first one, kept me hooked. I actually read the whole thing in one day.
The book isn't very "dark" yes there is some killings, mafia stuff, but its not too heavy, its not written in such a gruesome way that would turn you off, well it didn't for me
I enjoyed the connection between Cammie and Stefan and what they went through to get to that end point. The ending, i am assuming and (syndicate #1) there will be other books in this series which i definitely will be reading.
I don't want to spoil the book, i hate giving out spoilers, so my review is short.
Definitely buy the book when it releases, its well worth the read, and you are going to fall in love with Stefan, i certainly did!

This is my first Skyla Madi book. I have to say, I was not disappointed. I kept waiting for this to be "another mafia" book. It definitely was not. She had me hook, line and sinker from the beginning. I loved that while Cammie was stuck in a horrible situation, she still didn't think negatively about herself. She was a strong main character and dealt with the cards she was handed. However, Stephan had my heart. Can I have him in real life.. PUHLEASE!

This is a new author for me so I started this book with some trepidation! I was grabbed from the beginning till the end. The story itself is nothing out of the ordinary and neither are the characters. However its one of those books where the storyline just flows. The romance build up between H and h is at a realistic pace, both taking their time before jumping in bed. This is certainly one to read if you are in the mood for light reading with enough drama to keep it interesting.

4 Thrilling Stars!!
What a thrilling and exciting read!!
Beautiful Assassin is one of those books that just grips you from the first page and captivates you the entire time. When we first meet up with Cammie, we see just how unhappy she is with her life. She is struggling just to get through the day. She is in an impossible situation with no clear way out. All she wants is to live a normal life and to have freedom. But, that reality will never be hers. She is destined to be married to a man she doesn’t love…Stefan is a trained killer. He never misses his target and gets a thrill out of what he does. But, when his next hit is the lovely Cammie, everything goes out the window. He knows he has to kill her, but can not resist the pull that he feels. His hit on Cammie will become the most dangerous game of cat and mouse…
Beautiful Assassin was a fantastic read. I devoured it in just one sitting. I loved how dark and twisted the story was. I easily got lost in Cammie’s story and could not for the life of me, put this book down. I was captivated, and entranced. I couldn’t read the pages fast enough. This story thrilled and intrigued me. I was constantly on the edge of my seat, wondering what would happen next. Beautiful Assassin was everything that you could want and need from a mob style book. There was danger, mystery, action, suspense, sex and intrigue. It. Had. It. All. I don’t know if there will be another book in this series, but I’m hoping there will be because I’d definitely love to read more from this world and these characters!

Meh. Skyla Madi has been focusing more on dark disturbed characters in her more recent books. She started to explore that character type in her Consumed books via Jackson and Selena, the best friends, and has just run with those types from there. I loved Seth Marc's character as well as Olivia, so I am disappointed she has opted to go dark. I am not a fan of books that focus on women who are abused/debased, no matter how strong they prove themselves in the end.
Anyway, this is one of those. Cammie is seriously messed up -- taken advantage of, used, and passed around. She is clearly smart, but has no sense of self-worth. I'm not crazy about the book because she doesn't find herself, she just finds a man who will treat her better. Stefan is ok, although I feel like his treatment of her is not very in character for the kind of man he is.
I think this is my last Skyla book for a good while, sorry to say.

Now here on Goodreads, they actually say this is #1, so that makes me feel there will be more in the series, I wonder if we will see more from these characters or what??! My 1st read by Skyla Madi ...now I am hooked on her writing style. well done. I had a hope of where this book was headed ... it ended how I had hoped thankful over that. There were a few reading moments that seems to drag on with the big bosses ... but if you like that Mafia (or drug lords, I am not sure of the right term to call the silly mean men, Cartel?) kind o stuff going on ... you will enjoy that ... men spreading their testosterone moments, those personalty drive me nuts. some men just need to be cut down a few ... other than that it was a very quick read ... something I was shocked over ... is this a spoiler ... how to word it so it is not ... Stefan should have taken drastic ways to keep Cammie more safe? I don't think that revealed to much, I hope? Great read. Well done. ( ;

A dark and exhilarating story with great writing and strong characters.
Mafia stories are kinda gnarly, I definitely skipped over some of the graphic parts but all in all an exciting, nice story.
I really liked the main character Cammie, she was a strong and intelligent main character and it was easy to be inside her head.
I also really liked Stefan although, I didn't like the chapters from his pov simply because they felt a little less clear.
Also for record, this story is pretty effed up and could possibly be too dark. Includes violence and domestic abuse.

I really do love my mob stories. This one was pretty nice to read. The plot is rather cliche with it's forbidden love, but i loved it. Stefan was almost perfect. My only issue with him was that he didn't just take what he wanted right away, but i guess we can't have everything that we want. Cammie was rather average in my opinion, but it fit into the story so i was fine with it. Was it the best mob book I've read? Nah, but i still enjoyed it and i can't wait for the next book. Hopefully we get more of Cammie and Stefan.

I’ll start out by saying that I’m not a fan of mafia dark romances. I think it’s over done BUT I love a good stalker which is why I gave this a go. So I’ll put my bias to the side when reviewing this book.
WHICH was easy because it wasn’t a main theme of the book. I liked the characters and I liked the smut. The story didn’t grab me as they usually do but it was still a fun and easy read.

THIS BOOK😍😍. Pulled a nonstop reading session on this one and I bet you will not be able to stop this addictive read once you start. Cammie, oh my, the predicament that she finds herself is so sad and miserable to think. She has it all, what she once wanted. A chance encounter, being a good Samaritan makes her fall easily into the lap of the mysterious and utterly handsome stranger. Not only was she the mafia prince's obsession but also she everything she would ever want. But yet she didn't have the one thing she craved the most, freedom. What once was a shining dream was now just like shackles around her entire life, choking her emotions and suffocating all of her dreams and hopes and desires.
Honestly one minute I was liking Christiano and wondering what was wrong with Cammie that she didn't want him anymore but soon I realised where she was coming from. But the twist comes when becomes aware of a secret stalker who is none other the famous assassin, Stevan Valentino, who is feared equally by all. He's dangerous, dark and no body has lived once they are on his hitlist. Now Cammie finds herself on that same list. Yet the way he watches her is seductive and mesmerizing to her, igniting in her feelings she's not felt in a long while. Boom... Things happens. Things get complicated. How do they untangle the mess that is the dangerous world of mafia politics.
Oh my. This book was INTENSE AND GRIPPING AND LIKE A STRONG GUST OF WIND. Pulled me into its stronghold that just couldn't stop and when I was finally done..I WANT MORE SO MUCH MORE OF STEVAN AND CAMMIE. The story does end satisfactorily. Yet I can definitely see so many things and angles to be explored and questions to answered.
I have to say though with book of Ms. Madi's, I'm madly falling in love with her stories and her words. She's definitely one of the best freaking, phenomenal writers.

Wow! The attraction between Stefan and Cammie could melt any heart. The anticipation builds from the first page. The turmoil that ensues is the consequence of Stefan's decisions. Cammie's safety is his priority. Being an innocent is the only thing that has kept her alive.
Cammie has been trapped in her circumstances for ten years. With only one way out, she realizes she may be on that path.
Stefan has rules he abides by and this target is not guilty, intriguing, beautiful, but not guilty. Stefan's ability to do his job well, leaves him with his target in his house.
Stefan's own self awareness is a ray of hope for a man in his position. His reputation for getting the job done, causes him to evaluate his own life and dreams of being more. Having to deal with emotions he has really never been inclined to have, his doubts and confidence wavers as he comes to realize he will do everything in his power to keep Cammie for himself.
Cammie's confusion over how her feelings have become intertwined and she is now faced with listening to her heart or her head. Never feeling this way before, she is torn with what she knows and doesn't know. Knowing the feelings are not one sided, she gives in to the what if.
These characters were written with purpose and convey to the reader the torment each one must endure to be able to achieve what it is they want from life. When looking at themselves, they can only accept what is and do everything they can to be together, to be able to feel whole and loved. And I will be honest, like always.
This book is a little dark. You can tell by its name, Beautiful assassin, that it has to do with violence and some killings. And mafia. And some shady characters. But don't worry. It's not that dark. Just enough to make it interesting.
Stefan reminded me a little of Jai. He's capable of fighting for his life and the ones he loves. He's a trained killer. But at the same time he's gentle and caring. And he wants what he can't have. Other man's woman. Cammie is his weakness and he takes the risk. He wants her for himself and will stop at nothing to have her.
It's a very good story. Not a 5 stars, but definitely a 4 , 4.5.
What I don't understand is if there will be a second book with them. Because the way it ended makes me believe it's a stand alone. We have the epilogue and all.
Overall, it was a pleasure reading it. It's not a secret that I love Skyla Madi. I'm one of her biggest fans. I've read all her books in the last years. I know she will never disappoint me. So for me to even receive this gift... I'm so grateful.
