She won't rest until she's sent every walking corpse back to its grave... Forever.
Alice In Zombieland
Had anyone told Alice Bell that her entire life would change course between one heartbeat and the next, she would have laughed. From blissful to tragic, innocent to ruined? Please. But that's all it took. One heartbeat. A blink, a breath, a second, and everything she knew and loved was gone. To avenge her family, Ali must learn to fight the undead. To survive, she must learn to trust the baddest of the bad boys, Cole Holland. But Cole has secrets of his own, and if Ali isn't careful, those secrets might just prove to be more dangerous than the zombies.
Through The Zombie Glass
Alice Bell has lost so much. Family. Friends. A home. She thought she had nothing else to give. She was wrong. After a new zombie attack, strange things begin to happen to her. Mirrors come to life, and the whispers of the dead assault her ears. But the worst? A terrible darkness blooms inside her, urging her to do very wicked things. She's never needed her team of zombie slayers more, but ultra bad–boy Cole Holland, the leader and her boyfriend, suddenly withdraws from her... from everyone. Now, with her best friend Kat at her side, Ali must kill the zombies, uncover Cole's secret and learn to fight the darkness. But the clock is ticking...and if she fails at a single task, they're all doomed.

I liked this more than I expected, although there is very little Alice to it. Zombies, plus Alice, plus teenage dream equals winner. :D Cole. You're a babe. I'm glad Ali got a little Alice-like in the second one, and that a smidge more AIW references were present. I might not like zombies, but I sure like the answer I've given this week when being asked what I'm reading. Alice in Wonderland vs. Zombies has been interesting on people's facial expressions.
This has got to be one of my favourite reads at the moment.
The imagery in this book is insane, as I read every line the words flow out into an incredible movie that I got front row tickets to! Down to the character's features, the fighting, and even simply when Ali is at school. The attention to detail is just *chef's kiss*
I read this book many years ago and loved it! I've been on the hunt for it ever since so I could read the rest of the series.... I finally found it! I'm so excited to reed the rest of the series.
So I read the paperback version, and I couldn't find it, so I've got it under ebook. Also, I was going to write two separate reviews for the two separate books, but I found this, so why not?
This is a re-read of the two books, but like every other time, enjoyable. Yes, Cole is a tad annoying, I wanted to stab him a few times. He was overprotective and a total dick to Ali. Sure, he wanted her to be safe, but the guy went way overboard.
So, the first book: Ali Bell's parents and beloved younger sister Emma are all killed in a fatal crash which left Ali with her grandparents. In the hospital, she meets the bubbly and fun Kat. When she gets her life as close to together as can get it, she goes back to school... and meets hot, sexy, bad-boy Cole Holland. Turns out, he's like her and can see the monsters her dad used to scream about, the only difference is, he knows how to fight them. So Ali joins the slayers to fight the zombies.
Second book: After a new zombie attack, Ali Bell feels weaker and weaker. There's also something funny about her reflection in the mirror- she has thoughts of her own and can act on them. With the clock ticking, she has to find a way to stop the urges, maybe the darkness itself before its too late. Oh, and maybe get Cole back, too.
I liked this as much as any other time I've ever read it. Some times, the book did make me kinda pissed. She said she wouldn't crawl back to Cole, and yet she ran into his arms like the obsessed wimp she is. Sure, she's badass as hell when it comes to zombies, and maybe tougher around Cole than the others, but she's honestly not that smart around him. Sure, she may or may not love him and all that, but I BELIEVED IN YOU ALI BELL! YOU ARE STRONGER THAN THIS!
Another thing I found incredibly convenient is how her circle of three dates Cole's circle of three. Unfair as hell, too. Gena Showalter put no thought into how this would affect a sad, single pringle like me...
I recommend this to anyone who likes romance, fighting and doesn't mind annoying characters way too much. Cole literally brought my rating down a star. I was going to go with 4 stars, but he pissed me off too much.
