Thunder Mountain #3
Avalanche Creek: A Thunder Mountain Novel
Returning to the time travel western world of Thunder Mountain, USA Today bestselling author Dean Wesley Smith weaves his most complex story to date.
In one timeline, to help with an advanced math problem, Bonnie and Duster Kendal hire Brice Lincoln.
In a second timeline, to help with an advanced math problem, Bonnie and Duster Kendal hire Dixie Smith.
When Brice and Dixie finally meet in the past, instant attraction. And instant problems.
A time travel western that stretches across timelines from the Idaho Wilderness to an old Boise hotel with a very special room.
“Thunder Mountain by Dean Wesley Smith is one of those reads that defies genre classification. Take some romance, throw in a little bit of historical fiction and add a dash of time travel and science fiction and you have the basis for this interesting story. … The premise for Thunder Mountain is intriguing and will appeal to fans of both historical and science fiction. This is an easy, light read, and I am interested in revisiting these characters on their future adventures.”
—Fresh Fiction
“The romance between Dawn and Madison is warm and primarily private. The time travel is creative and the history detail is rich and engaging. This story and reading pace moves along quickly. This is an entertaining story and I recommend it to readers who enjoy a fun time travel to the old west with romantic element.”

The third book in the Thunder Mountain Series came at the perfect time. I was ready to jump back into the Thunder Mountain world and hanging out with Dixie and Brice will hold me over until the next book. Avalanche Creek had the same time travel we've come to enjoy and attempt to understand, with my new favorite couple of the series. However, the math and science of time travel and alternate timelines were much more advanced than the previous two books and I spent a lot of it confused to the metrics of it all and how it worked. Despite the confusion, I do think this was my favorite book of the three I've read because it was easier to connect to these two main characters! Excited to see where it goes next.

I love this group of books. The only thing continous in it so far is the primary couple Bonnie and Duster, a couple of theoretical math people. They are on to something about time travel and have changed some minor things. This is a series that has a feel of scifi with some western in it. There's a bit of romance; yet, being written by a man, it feels odd but it's okay. I loved the other couple in this story, Brice and Dixie because we are gonna see how the math lines up when love hits. It's a great story. It made me laugh and I've got the next 4 in the series lined up (I'll have them traveling after the first of the year).

Entertaining but very repetitive and a bit too formulaic between the 3 novels. Boy meets girl, they are very intelligent, gorgeous and sexy; they fall in love, go back in time and live happily ever after. The time travel is what kept me reading it.

It always surprises me the paths the story takes, and this one was no exception. Really liking this series, now off to read the next one.

November 6, 2017The third in DWS's time travel western romance novels. Fun and interesting premise - you can travel back in time via different timelines, live out your days in an alternate universe, then return to the present with hardly any time elapsed. But when the timelines start to intrude on one another, then it makes for some confounding scenarios. Pretty gentle reads, not at all heavy on adventure or tension.
