Who rained on the parade?

River Heights Elementary School is putting on an Earth Day parade, and Nancy's class has a special honor: They get to build the float! Nancy, Bess, George, and all the kids in Mrs. Ramirez's class have worked hard to make the "greenest" float they can, collecting recycled materials to use for decoration.

But someone's spoiled all the fun and sabotaged the float days before the parade. Who could've done something like this -- and why? Sounds like another case for the Clue Crew!

Carolyn Keene is a writer pen name that was used by many different people- both men and women- over the years. The company that was the creator of the Nancy Drew series, the Stratemeyer Syndicate, hired a variety of writers. For Nancy Drew, the writers used the pseudonym Carolyn Keene to assure anonymity of the creator.

Edna and Harriet Stratemeyer inherited the company from their father Edward Stratemeyer. Edna contributed 10 plot outlines before passing the reins to her sister Harriet. It was Mildred Benson (aka: Mildred A. Wirt), who breathed such a feisty spirit into Nancy's character. Mildred wrote 23 of the original 30 Nancy Drew Mystery Stories®, including the first three. It was her characterization that helped make Nancy an instant hit. The Stratemeyer Syndicate's devotion to the series over the years under the reins of Harriet Stratemeyer Adams helped to keep the series alive and on store shelves for each succeeding generation of girls and boys. In 1959, Harriet, along with several writers, began a 25-year project to revise the earlier Carolyn Keene novels. The Nancy Drew books were condensed, racial stereotypes were removed, and the language was updated. In a few cases, outdated plots were completely rewritten.

Other writers of Nancy Drew volumes include Harriet herself, she wrote most of the series after Mildred quit writing for the Syndicate and in 1959 began a revision of the first 34 texts. The role of the writer of "Carolyn Keene" passed temporarily to Walter Karig who wrote three novels during the Great Depression. Also contributing to Nancy Drew's prolific existence were Leslie McFarlane, James Duncan Lawrence, Nancy Axelrod, Priscilla Doll, Charles Strong, Alma Sasse, Wilhelmina Rankin, George Waller Jr., and Margaret Scherf.

River Heights Elementary School is preparing for its Earth Day celebration, with each grade preparing something special. Nancy, the Clue Crew, and the rest of her class are preparing a float made of recycled materials that will host a band, models, and a queen when a minor disaster occurs.
Nancy and the Clue Crew don't miss a step and follow the clues to find the culprit. Will they save the day for the Earth Day celebration? One will have to read to find out. Another adorable story with themes of honesty and conservation, plus there are a few fun activities at the end of the book. I would recommend it to young readers and fans of Nancy Drew. 🌍🌍🌍🌍🌍

3.5 stars. This wasn't one of my favorites, but it was still entertaining. The kids are doing an earth day parade and learning how to be a little more eco friendly. They all have to write essays about what they do to save our world and one is picked to be the queen of green. The float gets trashed and the parade may be sabotaged, so the clue crew goes to figure it out. I liked the emphasis on energy saving things, but the mystery was a little lackluster.

This book is about Nancy’s class is celebrating the Earth Day, so they make a lot of plans to celebrate it in a meaningful way. The school decided there will be a parade that can let each class to show their things. For Nancy’s class, they decided to make a float by using the recycle things. However, that is not the end, someone puts the garbages on it, and makes it so mess. Nancy and her friends need to solve this case before the earth day parade. She tries compare the color of the paint, and ask the classmates, but she can’t. Finally, it is the accident that did by Emmett.
I think this book is great, although is a children book, but I still new some words from it. It also remind me the Earth day in few years ago, teacher said that we need to use the recycle thing to make a useful thing. Therefore, I used a bottle to make a vase, and it was fun. This book also teach people about recycle, and help the earth.

This is the 18th book in the Nancy Drew and the Clue Crew series by Carolyn Keene. We've been working our way steadily through this series and have enjoyed the mysteries. They are perfect for our girls right now, but I am certainly looking forward to them discovering the "original" stories (at least the modern versions of them.)

This tale has a very heavy environmental message, which I suppose is good, but the story lacks coherence in a lot of places and just gets silly in others. We will continue the series, but I am looking forward to finishing it and moving on.

Formulaic, preaching and dull. The dialog was so contrived that I thought it was a robot talking.
