Dear Reader,

In the spring of 2016, I woke in the middle of the night with chattering in my head. This happens sometimes... Two characters came to me having a conversation and I knew I needed to crawl, bleary-eyed, from my warm covers and type it all up or else they'd evaporate by morning. I knew he was her older brother's best friend, and I knew she'd finally come to age and wanted to try lots of fun and sexy things with someone she trusted. The rub? He was indebted to her family for pulling him out of poverty... wouldn't acting on his attraction be... okay, fun, but also WRONG?

Two days later, my agent let me know that James Patterson was looking for stories for his upcoming Bookshots line, and she asked me if I had anything that might fit what he was looking for. It just so happened I did, and it just so happened Mr. Patterson liked the idea very much.

Writing this book was challenging, in that it's a shorter format than I'm used to, but still a complete (from beginning to end with no cliffhangers!) book. Like my editor said, though, I managed to pack a lot of scenes, emotion, and love into this compact package. I hope you enjoy meeting Dalton and Holly more than I did... I mean, I like them just fine, but they did interrupt a good night's sleep. ;)

Happy reading,
Jessica xoxo

I love books where the hero and heroine have known each other for a long while and decide to explore a new path in their relationship. It's always fun to watch them navigate from friends to more. And Holly and Dalton explore way more. I loved their easy banter and how Holly went for what she wanted with Dalton. And the fact that Dalton is her brothers best friend not to mention part of the family just adds to the mix. And of course my heart broke at that pivotal moment for both Holly and Dalton. It was definitely a fast roller coaster for my emotions.

I really liked this read from the always dependable Jessica Lemmon. The format of the "Bookshots" line is not wrong. I read this in a couple of hours and it was quick, sweet, and honestly felt like a complete story unlike the feeling I sometimes get when reading novellas in that they rush too much. The balance was great.

Plus, there's Holly and Dalton. There are a few trope categories that the couple could fall into, but I liked the friends-to-lovers one the best. The pacing of the development between Dalton and Holly was done really well, and the sense of history between them came through loud and clear.

I absolutely love these BookShot books, they are perfect for either when I don’t know what to read or when I want to try out a new author. I have read loads them and still have many more on my tbr pile!!
I loved the background story which was super rich princess wants to get with the poor boy from the wrong side of the tracks - but this story was just a little bit different!
The two main characters - Holly and Dalton were both extremely likeable and it was just the most perfect love story! I really enjoyed it!!

Once again Jessica gives us two new characters to fall in love with!! What a fun quick read this was! Love the way Holly approaches Dalton about her plan & they follow through with her list! This book was so sweetly HOT & as usual I'd read ANY thing that Jessica throws our way because no matter what the length of book it is ... you just know she can deliver quality work!

Dalton Thomas grew up on the wrong side of the tracks but was befriended by Jace Larson in high school and spend many a Sunday dinner at the Larson home. He now has an executive position at Larson Land Management. He is shocked when Holly Larson comes to him with a proposition. She has been in love with him for years and she’s not waiting any longer. She wants him and wants him now.

Dalton has known Holly most of her life and considered her to be his best friend's little sister until the night of her 21st birthday. He fell for her but does not consider himself worthy of her. He is a nobody while she is a Larson princess.

It takes Holly to make Dalton see his worth is measured by who he is and not by where he came from. She may be the Larson princess but she has a lot of common sense.

Nice quick read of romance when time is not on your side. I have to say I wish that this novel had another chapter to complete the ending. Like what did her parents think, did he keep his job, lots of what......not saying it was not worth the read just one of those books that your looking for the next chapter that your are almost sure that your missed somewhere.
