The Devil Wears Prada fanfiction: Andy doesn't leave Miranda in Paris, and learns that a single decision can change your life. But the main thing about decisions? You don't get to stop with one.

I really, really enjoyed this read. I liked it more than a lot of other stories, I have been reading lately. Everyone seems to rave about this, and now I know why:) Be prepared, this is a long story, but that is common in fanfic. I did think to myself, I would probably not read this again, due to the length. But, I honestly enjoyed the story so much, I will read it again when YLVA publishes it. My guess is it will have to be at least 2 or 3 books, after editing it down a bit. I'm glad I read the full original version, and I absolutely recommend it to romance fans.
I have watched the Devil Wears Prada, actually a few times, but it is not necessary to enjoy this. It does start right after the movie ended, though there are a few changes. What really impressed me, was how Telanu, was able to keep Miranda the same, but still have her be in loving lesbian relationship. She really stayed true to the character. To me, Andy had a slight different feel than in the movie. I loved her as a book character, way more than the movie version. So while I liked that Miranda, was still Miranda, I liked this new, better Andy.
This is a slow burn romance. Things do not get moving, on that front, for a while. Only really slight complaint I had, was at the beginning, the book dragged a little and took a while to get started. Once it did, this story was right on track for the rest of the time. Even though the romance was slow, I loved the build up. The chemistry was obvious, and the sex scenes were great. They were not the steamiest, I've read, but just really well written. Also, they were believable. The first time two women have ever been with the same sex, they are not going to be porn stars. The sex grew as the relationship grew, which was just realistic. It also had variety. I'm always disappointed when an author seems to be able to only write one kind of sex scene, that they repeat. That is not the case here, and for a story so big, that is pretty impressive.
Besides the great characters, and romance, I was very impressed with the dialog. I love great dialog in a story, and this really delivered. I thought Andy's lines especially was so well written. Overall, I'm really impressed and shocked that Telanu did not have a publishing contract before now.
This is a story for romance fans. It's free, and I almost feel bad about it. I hope Telanu does well with YLVA. I absolutely recommend this. Even with this story being so long, I was sad it came to an end. Yeah more people need to read this, or at least get this when YLVA publishes it. I'm looking forward to her career at YLVA, and reading her future books.
P.S. Thanks to Lov2laf, Netty, Margaret and others who recommended this:)
Wow! The whole package (a novel and four short stories, ~287,000 words) was great -- Truth and Measure-verse. A brilliant, character-driven, slow-burn romance with a perfect range of everything from drama, angst, office intrigues, humor, family... to an unusual and touching love story. Have patience and it will pay off. Sincerely recommended. 5 stars May 30, 2017 --- *Updated* --- Second reading changed my rating from 5 to 5+ stars. Truth and Measure is the very first book I put on that shelf. It is brilliant in so many ways. I feel kind of intoxicated with it right now. 5+ stars Jan 25, 2018
I'm in no way a 'The Devil Wears Prada' fan but, wow, this is good writing. I heard about this fanfiction piece in a podcast (http://www.thelesbiantalkshow.com/les...) and searched it out and I'm so glad I did.
The story starts off in a way where I thought it was good but not necessarily a standout compared to other f/f books I've read but then it hit a stride and I literally couldn't put the book down until I was finished. This author elevates the lead characters to a whole new level and creates such a vivid picture that it felt alive. How one can take someone as cold as a heterosexual Miranda Priestly and believably melt her into a same sex relationship with Andy without removing her core is pretty amazing...
And the development of these two characters and how their relationship unfolds. Again, just wow. Soooo good. All of the side characters were excellent, too...not to mention the dialogue, the intimacy scenes, the slow burn, the chemistry...everything.
The realism, feasibility, and detail of the story in all ways is what really sells this and the narrative is completely addictive.
The quality of writing is so high that the author could slap a cover on it and sell it outright (if the characters weren't explicitly Andy and Miranda that is). Even though it's fanfiction it's so much better than many professionally published stories both in storytelling and editing.

"Details of your incompetence do not interest me” Miranda Priestly
We, the jury, find the accused - Ms.Sinclair - GUILTY AS CHARGED for
a. Writing a highly entertaining, addictive read, causing mass hysteria amongst her female fans.
b. Leaving the fans hanging, wanting more and a serious book flu after devouring Truth and Measure.
c. Running the risk of women everywhere having heart palpitations, swooning endlessly and hot flushes.
There is no map, no manual, no knowledge whether Andy and Miranda will meet the shore, tumultuous waters with sharp rocks that will pierce and mutilate them or they'll be safe, sound and head over Choos in love in their Manhattan Townhouse with the girls and their little boy.
Andy longs for someone to truly see her and embrace her for what she is. She never expects to land a dream role that would take her to New York, working next to the Editor in Chief of 'making or breaking a new collection' magazine. She knows she should not fall for her. Every brain cell warns her that Miranda is unattainable, she would crush her in the blink of an eye. But desire is a treacherous thing, and so is love. None of them is enough.
And while Miranda does see her, she will not make the first move. She's driven, commanding, precise and always honest about her opinion in everything. Sexy and arrogant, she will make your cheeks flush and spitting into her coffee. But your heart? Well, the heart that she steals without even trying, she might cause it to ache at times, make Andy clutches her chest in order to make sure that the strong yet sometimes fragile organ is still in place but Miranda will never mistreat it.
A story made of passion, set in the fashion industry. An author whose words tug at my heartstrings with alarming precision every single page as if she has dissected me and memorized my desires, my hopes and my pain. One of the things I love the most is that the author stay true to Miranda's character. She doesn't get an attitude adjustment, even when she finally gives into her feelings for Andy. And of course there's always her acidic tongue and the scorching hot sex. While the it's getting hot in here scenes will Copperfield your panties, they aren't the center of the story.
Some books rise above others. PERIOD. They take you on intense heartfelt journey that will stick with you for forever. This book accomplished that and some. Andy Sachs will cause readers to look at their lives knowing that all things are possible. And that you should never conform to the standards set by people/the world. Life is more than your customary daily routine. You just need to step outside of the box. Break your regular rituals and do something different. Live in the moment.
1st Read Review MIRROR, MIRROR ON THE WALL,
Who is the Iciest of them all? Miranda Priestly ( other candidates, please step up and prove your worth )
Caution - This impressive book is unsuitable to be read in public places / public / daytime / while shopping with kids ( I got distracted reading and paid for everything that my devil wears adidas' son placed on the counter...when will I ever learn )
This masterpiece has ruined me for other books. For those who aren't familiar with DWP the movie ( nothing to do whatsoever with WMD, I found out through the hard way ) , I suggest that you watch it first before devouring this.. The movie is good but the ending is a bit sucky due to the non existent romance HEA. Thanks to a concerned citizen by the name of Rosalyn Sinclair who takes it upon herself to write an amazing sequel to this fire and ice couple.
Is the story perfect? Yes - it's unputdownable, page turning, loaded with lol / swoonworthy / panties melting scenes, characters that you'll love to love - hate. I do not want it to end, it has everything any romantic souls could ask for.
Ms.Sinclair takes no short cuts as she creates an incomparable love story that will ignite all sorts of delicious and naughty feelings in you... Your thighs should look great too due to all the workouts, thanks to Miranda and Andy.
Dear Ms.Sinclair, thank you for this truly amazing read
I LOVED, LOVED THIS BOOK!!! (and the short stories). I can't praise it enough...amazing writing, characters, emotions. I would re-read this instant, if I didn't have so many titles on the To-Read list. Next week is not too soon, is it? Haha. THANK YOU, Goodreads friends, for introducing me to Telanu!
First of all, I would like to thank my Goodreads friends for recommending this ebook. I don't know if I would have stumbled upon it without all of you. It was just such a wonderful read. Secondly, I've discovered that i am obviously handing out way, way too many 4 star reviews. Because some of those 4 star books are frankly 2 stars compared to this 5 star one. This book has opened my eyes to what a truly great book is.
The author did a fabulous job of developing all of the characters. The movie version, of course, only had a limited amount of time to delve into the characters personalities. But Telanu hit it out of the park in developing these characters further and deeply for the book! She is not a flowery wordsmith. She does not wax poetic. She's simply a great storyteller.
As others have indicated, this was a very slow burn type of book. I've been known to get impatient with slow burns on occasion because sometimes the payoff just wasn't worth the very long build up. At least that's why I hope I get impatient and not because I'm some kind of sex fiend who only wants the sexy parts. I would hate to discover that I'm just a 15 year old boy deep down inside. But the slow burn of this book was perfectly hatched and the payoff was AWESOME. I also loved the several short essays after the book which broadened some of the smaller episodes within the original book.
Bottom line, this book has skyrocketed to the top of my re read and re read...over and over list.
P.S. From the 15 year old boy in me: JIMINY CRICKET the love/sex scenes!!! Ok do not make the mistake of reading some of this book at work and in between meetings. I mean, "Oh my god, i'm late for the meeting!" And then in the meeting..."blah blah blah budgets. blah blah blah profits." Who cares, i'm not listening. I can barely function after that sex scene. OMG
I proclaim this as my favorite book of all time and Telanu (Roslyn Sinclair) the best author of all time.
I've not seen the film this fan fiction is based on so the very beginning was a bit confusing since it assumes I already know the characters but soon after, just 20 pages further on I was sucked in never to return to this world until finishing the book.
Characters are extremely distinctive and "original" as original you can be when you lift them from film but really, after reading hundreds of lesfic books most characters just never take a permanent place in my memory. They jumble together in a huge mush of generic lesbians. Not these ladies, Miranda and Andy are unforgettable or so I think after one day since I finished this book.
The plot is definitely original, I've never read something similar. It's incredible what Telanu can think up, she doesn't go for any templates or tropes besides maybe having a sale in the toaster oven section because she has sold twice the usual sales numbers. Don't wanna spoil the major plot twist, just know it's top quality drama you've never seen before and it's a fun ride from start to finish.
The supporting cast is really good too, especially the twins. And the book is LOOOOOONG which I always appreciate as LONG as the content is good. And it is, believe me.
And the sex scenes are majorly HOT. One of the best I've read. But this is not an erotica so there's a good mix between sex and the emotional side of the relationship, really nicely balanced just the way I like it with a LONG but meaningful buildup.
Amazing book! I had read all the good reviews but now I understand them. This fanfic is better than other published books that I have read. The characters are very well-created, and they don't envolve to become another person, they change but they still are the same with their virtues and faults. I enjoyed the story a lot, and the author is superb. I can't wait to read her next book.
I often buy books that I really, really want to read... and then don't read them. Sometimes months go by and I'll look at them, thinking which one should I read? Which one will I miss the least once it's over? If I anticipate that it's going to be brilliant I leave it longer, taking on the one that I think will be good but there is a tiny amount of concern that I might be disappointed.
When I finally open the book I've left till last (while new ones are piling up), the magic starts filtering out with every page turned. When I get to the end it's over. The magic doesn't go back in. Over years it might start filling up again but it is never like the first time with the incredible sense of wonder at entering a new world.
Truth and Measure, had I known or suspected what it might be like, is one of those books I'd have left, putting off the experience for as long as possible in order to savour it fully. But that was not to be because I was mercilessly badgered into reading this (lol) and thank heavens for that because it would have been a really long time before I read it.
I love DWP fanfiction, in both the original environment and the alternate environment, and this one is on top of the list. It's engaging, ridiculously hot, funny, riveting drama and more. I lost more than half a night's sleep but sometimes there just aren't enough hours in the day.
Truth and Measure is one of them rare gems you find that you don't want to end! This is quite possible the best book I've read. And to think, this as been on my 'to-read' list for quite a while.
I'm not quite sure what follows is much of a book review, but rather, ramblings that went on inside my head as I was reading this book of epic proportions. I'm probably the last to have heard of Telanu and read "Truth and Measure" but if you haven't, please read all the other reviews on Goodreads, download this book, and start reading NOW. There are spoilers here.
So why is this book titled "Truth and Measure"? It's a quote by someone I have never heard of.
"For above all things Love means sweetness, and truth, and measure; yea, loyalty to the loved one and to your word." -Marie de France
I warn you, I am not a well-read person. I have very narrow interests, reading preference (note singular), and attention span. I have never enjoyed reading much growing up, only required reading from HS and college. My very first (and only) fanfic obsession came about after watching "Loving Annabelle" on Netflix. The ending totally SUCKED and I had to pull myself out of oblivion reading LA fanfic where the MCs had a happier ending. The writing kind of sucked though. I believe it was from one of the LA movie reviews or comments that I learned of much better quality lesbian reading materials and that was when I discovered the wonders of Sarah Waters, then KE Lane, Melissa Brayden, Clare Ashton, Stephanie Kusiak, Lee Winter, Giselle Fox, and many more. This is the story of how I fell in love with lesfic. I haven't read fanfic or any other types of books since. That however changed recently after I kept seeing Telanu's name mentioned by my Goodreads friends. And DWP.
So here I come full circle. TM is my second fanfic ever. I watched the DWP movie first to get a feel of the plot and the main characters, Miranda and Andy. Huh? I didn't get it. What romance? Miranda was twice Andy's age and the devil described her perfectly, only she's also frozen twice over and the iciest of all ice queens. Why on earth and what possessed Telanu to want to pair Miranda and Andy together is beyond me. lov2laf from GR said in one of Telanu's interviews that this was "crack fic." It's basically taking the most unlikely pairing and weirdest, most ridiculous scenario and write a few pages on it. Except, it wasn't just "a few pages." T&M was over 800 pages and 270,000 words!! I mean, how do you decide one day to write a short story and then somehow end up with a saga, not knowing whether anyone was going to read it or like it? Not to mention, it wasn't even paid writing? And yet here we have it. T&M, according to the lesfic community, is THE best fanfic ever. Some might even venture to say even better than published lesfic.
How I might have described the process would be something like someone who's fingers twitched one day and instead of picking up art supplies and materials from Michael's to create something worthy of Etsy, this person went to a junk yard, gathered a bunch of old tires, scrap metal, rusty nails, plastic bottles, glass, chords, wooden planks, pipes, industrial parts, etc. and ended with a spectacular 5-story playground and paradise that is the City Museum in St Louis. This place is described as "a wild, singular vision of an oddball artistic mind." And that is how I'd describe Telanu and T&M.
I don't give too many 5 stars. Rarely do I read the same book twice so the ones marked 5 stars in my read shelf mean those are the books I want to read over and over again.
So how much do I love T&M? Well, I didn't exactly. Not at first. That pesky number at the bottom of my Kindle was a constant reminder how far along (or not) I was in the book. At 250 pages (30%), I'd already have been done with most other lesfic books, but with T&M, I haven't even gotten to any hint of a romance blossoming between the two MCs. Miranda was just as much an ice queen and as nasty as she was in the movie. The constant babbling of fashion was boring me to death. I was becoming more and more disturbed by Andy's infatuation with Miranda. I started wondering whether she might have Stockholm Syndrome. Her job had already cost her almost everything - her bf, her friends, her family, her social life, even her own dreams and ambition, but what had she gained in return? Not much as far as I could tell at that point.
I should mention I just finished reading Behind the Green Curtain by Riley LaShea recently (see my review) and I saw an eerily similar parallel between Andy and Caton, two assistants that have developed an unhealthy obsession and attachment with their emotionally unavailable, not to mention married boss. The only difference was that Caton at least was getting mind-blowing orgasm from the start and often, but Andy? Poor, poor Andy. She practically orgasmed when Miranda air kissed her during new year's eve party.
Miranda came forward, said, "Hello, Andrea," and then--what the ever-loving bejesused fucking fuck? --leaned in and kissed the air to either side of Andy's cheeks.
Other than that, she was treated like a dirty rag ready to be discarded at any moment.
Miranda only wanted Andy around because Andy was useful to her, and would drop her, had dropped her, like a dirty rag at the first sign that Andy might not be useful anymore. How many times was Andy going to have to learn this one simple lesson? And when would it stop hurting?
I thought maybe Andy might have at one point tripped and concussed her head while running around NYC in 4-in stilettos. She was definitely irrational in her singular, undivided and unwavering loyalty to Miranda despite all the people who have warned her to keep a distance. She pushed every single one of them away. And so I read both T&M and BTGC with one eye open and one eye shut as Andy and Caton's unrequited love for their object of infatuation brought them deeper into the vortex of the devil's lair. I was sitting on the edge teetering with anticipation the inevitable train wreck that was to come, knowing these two were about to sell their souls to the devil (or the press).
But somewhere along the way, somewhere past the 35% mark, the story finally picked up. I found myself sucked into the same vortex, addicted and hypnotized by Telanu's masterful storytelling. Like Andy, I became just as smitten and hungry to devour every page as she was with Miranda. I savored every precious moments shared between Miranda and Andy. It's the craziest, most scandalous pairing I've ever read about.
Miranda had just talked her into a relationship. A relationship with a woman twice her age, who was getting divorced, pregnant with another man's child, already had two kids, was Andy's rich and famous boss, and didn't even want to have sex with her. And to top it off, Miranda had managed to make Andy deliriously happy about the whole thing.
Don't be deceived by Andy's internal monologue. The sex scenes were some of the most sensual and erotic scenes I've read in lesfic. Someone said Telanu didn't use flowery words or wax poetic. I beg to differ. Telanu not only is a wonderful storyteller, she writes with such eloquence that is pure music and poetry to the 15yo boy in me.
She looked like she'd just been fucked six ways from Sunday, and had loved every second of it.
"You'll have to sit on my face," Miranda said, and her words, uttered in a brisk, no-nonsense tone, sent Andy's train of thought right off the rails and into the chasm below.
Andy wasn't like Miranda, who could come an absurd number of times in a row whenever she felt like it…
Miranda dropped to her knees with more grace than should be possible for a fifty-year-old woman who was five months pregnant and had just come her brains out.
Bejesused fucking fuck. That is right.
What was even more surprising was that Telanu did not change Miranda's character in anyway as you might typically have expected of a lesfic ice queen to melt. Miranda stayed in character throughout the book but what we were gifted with were the cracks and vulnerability and how Miranda responded to Andy as Andy became more assertive and bold. Somehow, the love that sparked and flourished between Miranda and Andy just worked. They made it work in the midst of the chaos at Runway, living in NYC, the upheaval that took place with management and job changes, family drama, dealing with a messy divorce, a high risk pregnancy, two nosy and precocious tweens, but most of all, navigating all the craziness that came with being in a (secret) relationship with Miranda.
No details were left out. I was fully immersed in Miranda and Andy's world by the end and have read the rest of the T&M-verse short stories and other DWP shorts. I balled my eyes reading Parting Glass. Saying goodbye with a bang! Damn it, Telanu!
So I end my rambling not with a bang but an outcry for their story to never end.
...and we're only two days in! I don't really know how to start my praise for this collection of fics. (found here) After having read its reviews some months ago I added it to my to read list but despite everyone seemingly being head over heels in love with it I still kept putting off reading it. My main reason at the time for doing so was that I just didn't ship Andy and Miranda. I honestly couldn't see it but then again I also considered myself straight (ha ha!) back in 2008 when the movie was released.
Eventually I read The Lily and the Crown and even though I wasn't completely smitten with it, it did make me realize that the author has tremendous talent. So I ended up watching the movie "The Devil Wears Prada" again before starting the collection of fics and I have yet to resurface from the pool that is DWP fanfic! Specifically DWP fics written by Telanu.
I won't even bother listing all the reasons why you should give this fic a chance. If the other reviewers praise don't convince you to read it perhaps my initial reluctance and now obsession might convince you. Seriously, get settled in and read this earth shattering work of art!
There are two fics I keep on my Kindle app and lovingly, reverently take them out from time to time to savor slowly when life is getting me down and I’m stressed out. One is Kissing Regina Mills by misscantelope and the other is this one. And Truth and Measure came first.
The first twenty-ish percent is very work-focused and Miranda is just a nasty, horrible person. The first time I read it, I was baffled that people actually enjoyed reading it and in fact rave about it, but it is essential to set up the rest of the fic when things start to change. And change they do. I like the fact there is no head-hopping and we never *really* know what Miranda is thinking or feeling. That makes Andy’s observation and care, plus their communication all the more powerful.
Highly recommend, even to people (like me) who have never seen DWP, although I was a bit confused about what actually went down in Paris, but eventually I put the pieces together. This is really well-written and edited. It’s long enough to be satisfying and the epilogue ties everything up well. Telanu has a real talent for writing dialogue, especially conflict. The sex scenes are plentiful, diverse and very hot every time. I can sense her respect for the characters even when they’re getting down and nasty.
DWP fanfic has been my go to comfort re-reads for quite a while now. So when I saw Telanu was going to be published and some of my Goodreads friends were reading Truth and Measure - I jumped at the excuse to re-read it.
I first read this years ago, maybe around 2009? Although I've re-read it since then, it has been years. Why it took me so long to pick it up again? I have no excuse.
I set aside Memorial weekend to just sit and read and savor this book. I may have enjoyed it more now than when I first read it. It is long, especially since we are so accustomed to shorter books now days. But I never felt it was too long. (Oh, I'm sure a good editor could cut out some here and there). Its a shame, if it gets split into two books when it is published. (I'm not sure where the split would occur) I think some books and their sequels are not as good when they are read months apart.
I inhaled this book for two straight days and half the night, grinning, sighing, laughing and squeeling. Uncapable of doing much else really. It's like Lov2Laf says "you could slap a cover on it and publish as is", it is that good.
And yes, 2018 is going to be a tough year for me finding a book that will beat this one. I don't think it's going to happen. I don't say this lightly but Truth and Measure is perhaps one of the most satisfying stories I've read in a loooooooong time. I will probably re-read this on a yearly basis from now on ;-)
f/f explicit Themes: this story has already made my year and it's only 5 days old, da fuck?! I must built an altar now for the Goddess that is Telanu... and bring daily offerings, no seriously though... what a pleasure this was.
Well hot damn. It took me a minute to get over the fact that this is a 'The Devil Wears Prada' fanfic (well months really), and I patiently waited to see what all the hype was about...but goddammit, the dialogue, drama, chemistry and sex scenes, overshadowed any previous misgivings I had re: a 25 yr age gap.
This cat.gif was me reading that scene where My gosh...so poetic. 4.7*
Oct 2024 update: changing my rating from 4.5 to 5. I. Can't. Stop. Thinking. About. This. Story.
Well, talk about addictive! This is definitely one of the longer fanfics I've read, and it was so worth it, I couldn't stop reading. The characters stayed true to the film, and the story was packed with just the right amount of angst and romance leading up to a satisfying HEA.
It’s hard not to compare them— but I actually really disliked the non-fan fiction published version, Truth and Measure, because the relationship felt too emotionally abusive (review for that here). But I absolutely loved this fanfiction adaptation! The longer length really worked in its favor, giving the story room to develop more deeply and smooth out those problematic dynamics. The romance between Miranda and Andy felt so much sweeter and more authentic here. Plus, the addition of the twins brought an extra layer of warmth and love to the story that the published version just didn’t have.
Right. I feel like I just ran a marathon. (I've ran 5 so... lol) But yea. So this took 4 solid full days of reading to get through. There is so many different sections to this book. The first 20% where I think it's just a matter of the fanfiction element in keeping with the story line. The 20-36%. The *post* 36% all the way up to the 50% mark where... err not going to spoil anything. And then there's the rest.
So in reading this book I actually came up with a new term in my brain. Gonna call it GoodFeelsOverTime. And I threw that into the do I like this book overall equation. Yes. Overall I liked it. But there were some real spans of time where the bad feels were just .... ugh....
If I ever do a re read of this I'm just gonna skip right to the 36% mark and go from there. Heh. Not sure who I'd recommend it to, I mean you have to have some serious patience to get through it.
Looks like she has a bunch of stuff over on AO3. Will definitely bookmark that for later. Maybe find some shorter stuff. I did like her writing though.
22/08/2021: I feel like I’ve just read the most beautiful work of art. I don’t even know what to say. I’m in a state of blissful happiness and warm and comfort. This was a huge one because it’s a fic, but I loved every second of it and I wouldn’t mind if it had double the length because this was just so perfect. Just wow!!! I don’t even know what I’ll read now because I feel like I’ve been spoiled and nothing will ever compare to this perfection and writing and pace. Bravo!!! 100% recommend
29/09/2021 (reread): welp I couldn’t help myself and one month later here i am again. this fanfic truly is one of a kind. it’s really so so so good and it just makes me so happy and warm and it’s pure perfection. bless you, Telanu 💛
17/09/2022 (reread): This truly is the best story I have ever read. Period. There’s no doubt in my mind. If I had to choose only one book to read for the rest of my life, it would be this one. Just perfect 🥰
I am not a fan of age gap romances when the youngest MCs are on their early twenties. Not even a fan of abusive bosses’ stories.
Then why I found myself so hooked up by this book?
I don’t exactly know. Could it be because Telanu absolutely worked her magic writing this story? Some writers are “something else” and I feel that Telanu have accomplished this label here.
She has stolen my mind and my attention at a high level for several days. It was so difficult to stop reading it... Even at work I found myself thinking about the book. And also after I finished my read, my mind kept connected with the characters and their story.
The age gap faded away and it was replaced by a so unique relationship between a fighter (the 'weak' MC) and the queen of the ice queens ever.
This was a 5 Plus star read for me. The main story and the short sequels too.
It's always a wonderful surprise to find a 5+* book. I hope another one of those will get in my way soon.
I had high expectations for this book, and it did not disappoint. In fact, it was even better than I expected. Definitely in my my top-ten all-time-favorites. Telanu is a real talent, and I'm delighted that she has a publishing contract. I wish her all the best.
Update:On my second full read I appreciate the genius of this book even more. I am completely smitten with Miranda and Andy. And wow, what an epilogue!
Update2: On my third full read, which I started immediately after my second full read I thoroughly enjoyed it once again. And this time through I felt I could clearly see Miranda, having fresh in my mind some insight into her state of mind that is provided late in the book.
I don’t think I’ve watched DWP and since it’s on Netflix and Truth and Measure is a continuation of DWP with a twist, why the hell not right? I must say that the first quarter of TAM was really slow and really painful to read. Nothing much was happening other than Miranda being awful...and I was beginning to detest her more and gave up reading TAM altogether.... And then the plot took a turn and all bets are off... Did not regret one bit that I stayed up almost the whole night just so I can complete TAM, even though it’s a work day the next day.. Simply loved it, adored it! Loved the romance and adored both Andrea and Miranda. It’s engaging with loads of drama, funny and the sexy scene were just so hot. Who would have thought behind all that iciness, lies a sultry person...
Let me make a confession first! I actually know idea who are all these characters. I didnt watch the movie either. So i dont even know how they look like. Thats a good thing because i can imagine how they look like by myself. Okay.. to the book: omg this is reallly gooood. The story is long but you will enjoy every bit of it. It made me smile, laugh, frustrated and heartwarming at the same time. I love all of characters in it. They are funny, they are annoying and all of it just to make story really good.
I blame my work because it took me 4 days to finish it >_> normally i would just finish it in 2 days or something. If i didnt do anything at all.
This is why a really like the Goodreads community. I have been reading fanfic since years ago. I practically learned english reading fanfics and i have never come across to this one. And boy, how glad i am to have found it thanks to my Goodreads friends.
The fic refleats perfectly well how Miranda is even though it Andy's POV. And Andy, well, the girl has the fight in her. Never giving up. Even the twins were incredibly good well written characters. And that's always somthing difficult when they are kids.
I have spent two marvelous days of intense reading and i have enjoyed it so much. Overall 5 stars. Favourite. I can't wait to read more books from Telanu. Her writting is superb. I have read that YLVA is goint to publish it so i will be waiting for it =)
There is something to be said about stories that so deeply engage readers in both character development and plot—that something is, “OHMYFUCKINGGAWWD”
Truth & Measure is simply an exquisite work of fiction. I read this across three days because I wanted to give my full attention to every glorious one of those 200k+ words. I’ve only recently begun to delve into the world of DWP fanfiction. I’ve read other works by Telanu/Roslyn Sinclair including: The X Ingredient and Lily & The Crown, and though I enjoyed the stories as something outside the DWP universe, they didn’t quite tap into the well of feelings inside me that apparently runs over for Miranda and Andrea, but this— THIS felt so real and true to the original.
I believed every detail Telanu wrote about Miranda and Andy as I followed them on this not-quitting-post-Paris-plus-platonic-pregnancy journey. Even when I was shocked by a plot twist (there were two that nearly stopped my heart) it immediately resolved with an, “ahh, of course that would happen. It makes sense in their story and is totally within character.”
Telanu clearly put a tremendous amount of work into expanding the Devil Wears Prada fashion universe with this. It’s obvious how deeply she understands the characters and, in my opinion, what she’s done with Truth & Measure has more depth and intrigue than the original story.
AND the epilogue was one of my favorite epilogues ever written.
tl;dr it’s literal perfection, just go read this immediately!
Even after the third time reading this a really enjoyed it. This is one of my favorites, I really like that that its a slowish burn as I have noticed that that is my favorite type of romance novel.
This was my introduction into fanfiction and it sure set a high standard for my future reads. It was long, which I loved, since it was such a wonderfully addictive story. I’ve never watched The Devil Wears Prada, but a great story is a great story and I loved this one. This is going on my favorites shelf.
One of the best TDWP fanfiction writings I've ever come across. The relationship between Andy and Miranda evolve naturally and the conflict and romance are believable. Love scenes are excellent and very hot! Definitely on my re-read list.
