CAN BE READ AS A STAND ALONE WITH AN HEA

She sought death. He sought life. Fate is not without a sense of irony.

With more than a decade of experience as a medic, Ailey thought she had seen it all. When her mentor goes missing while trying to treat the plague victims in Melzi, Ailey knows that there is something stranger than an untreatable plague happening. Just two days away from the city, a chance encounter with a thief gains Ailey the attention of an enigmatic stranger. When her attempts to drive him away backfire, his unique outlook draw her in, causing Ailey to question everything she thought she knew about the world.

Ash has never been one to take life too seriously. With a temperament that is both childish and unfathomable, he is easy going and cheerful to a fault. But beneath his happiness lurks the emotions that have always been the downfall of his kind. As his interest in Ailey draws him into the concerns of humans, he must decide the value of his own life.

Ailey has always believed that she was willing to make the ultimate sacrifice. When the ultimate sacrifice is the life of someone who has come to mean so much to her, will she be able to watch him make that sacrifice?

Lisa Daniels is a (young) retired school teacher who resides in Miami. After five years of teaching, Lisa Daniels found that it wasn’t quite the world that she wanted to inhabit. After leaving her position, she moved to Miami. She hasn’t regretted it.

In her worlds, Lisa Daniels creates characters that go beyond the usual narrative. While they definitively include romance, Lisa Daniels strives to make the worlds more real with characters that are more than just cardboard cutouts of the genre. All of the main characters (and many of the secondary ones) have a rich history that span much longer than the stories themselves. This makes it easy to weave the stories together so that you can see characters you met in previous tales and see how they have managed since.

The Dragons of Letera is her first standalone series. Letera is a world teaming with romance, action, and stories – it is a world that Lisa Daniels loves to explore with her readers, one character at a time.

There was a strange plague killing off large numbers of people and three-quarters of the healers and medics in the city of Melzi. Ailey had stopped at a tiny inn for the night right outside that city. Now she started out again on her journey and was so focused on her thoughts that she did not hear the rustlings in the trees along the road. A young woman tried to rob her until she saw she was a medic. Ailey wanted to take her to town and feed her and treat a wound on her leg, but the girl struggled, thinking it was a trap to arrest her. A man stepped up to assist, but his eyes were a strange purple and green color. He introduced himself and walked with them to the town.

The interaction between Ash and Ailey was amusing. He wanted to learn about her and insisted on following her around, much to her annoyance. She finally got to Melzi and had to slip a pill to knock Ash unconscious. She paid a guard to take him back to the town they had left. She hadn’t wanted him exposed to the plague just to protect her. What was the secret of the plague’s source? Would she become ill as so many others had? And how would Ash react? She still didn’t know what he was. And why did he care so deeply?

I really enjoy this author’s books. She seems to go deeper into the characters’ behavior and personality to make them very real to the reader. Ailey’s dedication to healing is a real tribute; her sole desire is to help people whenever she can. Ash’s personality also draws the reader in. He is funny and kind, very likable. And the story line is very good, adding a touch of mystery to keep the reader invested in the story’s outcome. This is a very good book to read and I definitely recommend it without hesitation!

Ailey’s Dragon (Dragons of Telera Book 5)

Ailey’s Dragon (Dragons of Telera Book 5) ~~ Ailey’s story had a little more fire to it — and I mean that in the best way. There’s attitude, strength, and a dragon who knows exactly what he wants. I loved how this book balanced passion with emotional depth and didn’t shy away from vulnerability on both sides.

The Audible narration really delivered the intensity, while reading on Kindle let me fully appreciate the character growth and connection. This was one of those books where “just one more chapter” turned into hours.

This book kept the momentum going strong. I would definitely recommend this book and series and can’t wait to start on the next book. If you want to know what happens next, you’ll just have to read this series yourself — you won’t regret it.

A romantic and adventurous story. She's a medic and is fully human. She takes caring and healing others very seriously. He's a dragon shifter, but no one knows that. He is young for his kind and has the biggest heart.

The story will take you on a chase to find a cure for a city but also for a dragon to prove that what he wants is not foolish. Lots of adventure and a hot bedroom scene. Hope to read more from this series.

I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of the book.

Fast paced storyline & fascinating characters make an intriguing combo. I feel in love with the characters as they seem to come alive from page one. The mystery, intrigue & paranormal elements all combined to make the story flow. I was sad to finish this book. The author did an amazing job. Ailey & Ash's story is a must read. I highly recommend this book.
