Fire Investigator Emery Pearson doesn’t have time for a relationship. Her career is everything, so the rest of her life is put on hold until she reaches her professional goals. Sex is always on the table, though. Finding the perfect woman who only wants a quick hookup seems like a fantasy, but when she meets Lily online, the fantasy turns to reality when they agree to meet. Their tête-à-tête at the museum is more than Emery could imagine—satisfying, exciting, and passionate. Can Emery walk away from sex this good with no strings attached? Or will the lure of lust keep her going back for more?
Shameless is the first book I have read by Brit Ryder and I enjoyed it. And though I have read M/M books this is my first taste of Lesbian Erotica. Now because this is only about a 50 page novella I didn't go into this read with high expectations, but I did expect some hot woman on woman action. Did this book have a great plot? No. Did it have great character development? Nope! Did it have lots of hot lesbian sex? Why yes, yes it did. It also had a little surprising twist that I didn't see coming. This book was everything you expect in a erotica read. It was quick, and sexy. The only problem I really had with this book was it's abrupt ending. I was reading along then I go to turn the next page and nothing.. just the end and I was left going... What that's all? The end had a "to be continued" feel to it. So here is hoping for a full length novel on Emery and her sexy hook up!
3 1/2 Stars. Brit Ryder is a pen name for Kris Bryant. I'm a fan of Bryant, and it was nice to see her more erotic side. This is an erotic novella, but it has a beginning, middle, and end, plus it did not feel rushed. Now to get to the good stuff, it was a pretty steamy read. It's butch/femme, with some strap-on play. While it might not be everyone's taste, it was sexy, and the book had an interesting twist I did not see coming. Bryant/Ryder has no problem writing erotica. I would absolutely read another novella or book by Ryder.
An ARC was given to me by BSB, for a honest review.
We are all aware that some books are not meant to be read in public but this erotica takes place in a bloody Museum! The dares, the dirty talks, the sex scenes - you will not be needing any devices for this, your body will respond naturally and you'll discover that pantyliners are a woman's best friends.
Special thanks to Jude who suggested that I read Shameless first before moving on to Not Guilty.
And now, I agree with everybody else on this short erotica. It is... oh boy, one word - H.O.T! The fun is in the reading, so there's no need to know too much details beforehand. Just know that this book contains one fire investigator, her sexy online hookup date and some VERY steamy rendezvous at the museum.
As Corporate Slave told us before, sometimes you should listen and read the books your friends recommend. I finally read this one too. Now I need ice cream Corporate Slave, but my friends deserve some too 😂 And wow this was a short but hot hot hot journey with Emery 🥵 I don't need to say more, just if you like erotica, read it (but preferably not in a public space).
I was told earlier today that I had to read Shameless, since Kris Bryant, aka Brit Ryder, just announced that she signed the contract for her fourteenth book, Not Guilty, which will be Claire’s side of the story, in a full-length novel.
Emery Pearson has been flirting online and having phone sex with a very sexy woman, and they have plans to meet at the museum, where she hopes they’ll go for semi-public and very exciting sex, before she goes back to her daily life as a fire investigator whose testimony can make or break an arson case.
Since Shameless is pretty short (it’s a novella), I won’t give too many details, I’ll just say not all is what it seems to be. One thing is exactly as it seems, though, and that’s how hot this story is. I mean wow.
Definitely more than just straight up erotica. Hot and steamy but with a really interesting twist. Plus an ending that definitely leaves you wanting more of this story!
I received an ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Shameless is a steamy novella about women who know what they want and are confident enough to take it. Told in bold language, strong beautiful characters explore fantasies, their bodies, and the high of hot sex.
ARC provided by NetGalley in return for an honest review.
I wasn't sure why Kris Bryant was writing this under another name, especially since she puts both names on the cover. Now I assume it's because this is a PWP novella.
There's honestly not that much to review, it's literally just various sex scenes held together by a very loose plot, if that's what you're in the mood for, then this should hit the spot. I give it three stars for the 'twist'.
Do not read in public :D. It was hot, but I find that for something to really turn my crank, I need more romance or to know the couple has an emotional attachment. I liked the little twist at the end as well which
This story is short, steamy, and a breath of fresh air. The title couldn't be more apt, the heroine is in deed shameless. All power to her!!
The twist was so utterly unique I'd give this book 5 stars based on that alone. However, I knocked 1/2 a star off because it ended way too soon. I think I might've even pouted.
More please, Ms Ryder.

UPDATE 01/12/2020: I decided I *must* do a re-read of this “more than just an erotic story” Why? Well, I was reminded of it after reading Kris Bryant’s (aka Ryder) Q&A on Facebook last night. Bryant said she is going to write “a pre-Shameless, during Shameless, and post-Shameless from Claire’s POV”. She doesn’t know when she will begin writing it, but she sounded positive it will happen, just not sure when. If I interpret her hints correctly- she’s planning it to be novel length. I hope she writes it soon!
****
Hard to rate a novella. 3 stars when compared to novels, but since it's very well written - so 4 Stars. It's more just than just a PWP (plot? what plot?) - a term used in fanfic, for an erotic story. I really liked the story (yes, there is a plot and characterization) You really do get to know Emery as she hooks up with Lily, a woman she meets online. They both want the same thing - sex with no strings attached. I enjoyed this book by Brit Ryder aka Kris Bryant. I'll read more from Ryder. BTW - I understand why some authors use pseudonyms - using different publishers, books are very different from their normal books etc. But why have their real names on the cover? Sure it's more erotic than what Kris normally writes (if I remember correctly), but it's still f/f - now if it was f/m or m/m, ok. Whatever. Bottom line, if you like steamy, well written novellas, you'll like this one.
Shameless is told in the first person from Emery’s perspective. She’s an engaging narrator and even though the story is novella length, we learn enough about Emery to be invested in her journey with Lily. Because we only ever see Lily through Emery, we don’t get to know her as much as we might like. That said, I liked how Kris Bryant wrote her and I was especially intrigued by Lily from when Emery first arrives at the museum and spots her. What’s not to like about a curvy, confident woman?
My favourite time to read is really early in the morning - like 5.30am early. I find it a great way to start my day, especially with the house quiet and still. This morning I spent an hour, from 5.30am - 6.30am, demolishing this read in bed. So, so good and I was disappointed when it ended as I thought I could've spent a lot more time with Emery. I can't wait to start the next chapter to this story - Not Guilty.
This is apparently Kris Bryant's (writing as Brit Ryder) first attempt at writing an erotic novella and let's just say - you'd never know it and more, please! It's super hot. This is just long enough to make you want more and at the same time not feel like you've been short changed. Quick and sexy as hell. Definitely recommend.

It's hot, erotic, but it's not distasteful and it's not just sex... There's a story as well, and with a twist! I liked it a lot, it was catchy and sexy. This is a very good erotic story.
I picked this novella up last night after Pip recommended it and I absolutely devoured it! My first book by Bryant was a bit shaky but I thoroughly enjoyed this one! She definitely has a knack for writing erotica and the plot-twist genuinely left me gobsmacked! I can't wait to pick up Not Guilty next month to see where the story goes next!
