Another brand-new offering!
Jennifer, bless her, wanted a Shane/Myrnin story as part of her Kickstarter contribution, and I was happy to oblige. So here is Shane, and Myrnin, and a tie-in to a story earlier in this collection: ‘Nothing like an Angel.’ If you read them back-to-back, you’ll see why I say that; events in this particular story feed into events in that one, though it might not be obvious without a closer look. We get graveyards, corpses, mysterious alchemical machines, time travel (maybe), and the payoff on a romance that I built between Bitter Blood through to Daylighters. This story occurs after the end of the series, so you may think of it as an epilogue, of sorts.
No matter how many times I destroy Myrnin’s lab, I always want to rebuild it and bring it back as a setting, because it so perfectly reflects the state of the inside of his mind. ‘Pitch-Black’ refers to many things in this story, not the least of which is the state of Myrnin’s mind at various times in his history.

Idk guys, have I mentioned that I love Myrnin? Because I’m not sure I have.
In this little adventure Myrnin has hired Shane for muscle and assistance… in digging a grave to retrieve some several hundred year old anti camera that allows Myrnin to go back a few hundred years and retrieve an old book from himself.
Yea.
Truly.
And Shane gets to see how Myrnin looked the second time he was rescued by Lady Grey, which is heartbreakingly sad of course. And Past Lady Grey kisses Present Day Myrnin while Present Lady Grey peeps from the stairs above.
Sound crazy enough yet?
But anyway. I love Myrnin and he’s almost also going to be an auto 5 star.

Shane's POV - Myrnin hired Shane to dig a grave and retrieve a device that enables him to go back to the past. It's not often that we see Shane with Myrnin without the urge to ripe the head from one another. This book gave us a short sneak peek to Myrnin's and Lady Grey's past, as well as the answer to the question of who took the book in 'Nothing like an Angel'. It's a must-read short story!

Myrnin hired Shane to dig a grave and retrieve a device that would enable him to go back to the past. It's not often that we see Shane with Myrnin without the urge to rip the head from one another. This book gave us a short sneak peek to Myrnin's and Lady Grey's past. A nice story that gives us some insight into Myrnin xxx

I love Myrnin and I find his interactions with Shane to be a constant hilarity. So glad he’s finally starting to find his happily ever after!
