Resisting Redemption

Rate this book
Desperate for a paycheck after forfeiting a chance at her dream career, Roxie Malone accepts a job at a law firm, assisting a hard-to-please and too tempting criminal attorney. Struggling to censor her sarcasm and adjust to the expectations of the challenging man, she maintains one goal. Do not get fired. As long as she refuses to mix business with pleasure, she might have a shot at earning the bonus at the end of the case.

Me, assistant. You, boss.

Losing the drive that made him one of the top lawmen at his firm, Grant Newland takes a leave of absence at the worst possible time. Upon hearing his friend is charged for murder, Grant races back to work to fight for justice. But concentrating on the case is easier said than done with the gorgeous, no-nonsense assistant trailing behind him.

Blurring the lines…

Roxie and Grant agree to leave their pasts behind them, opting to swallow the pain of the sacrifices they’d made. They focus on answering one question. Who killed famous singer, Josh Warren? Chasing clues and stumbling over dead ends, they try to deny their attraction to each other. It’s only a matter of time before they can debate whether it might be better to tackle their case as a team, instead of resisting each other.

It's Roxie's first day at her new job as an assistant to lawyer Grant. He's a very 'difficult' man - the longest an assistant ever lasted was one day!
But Roxie needs this job. She needs the money to feed herself, her aunt, and her 8 month old daughter Lucy. Plus, she has lots of debts: lawyers, college ...
Grant has just come back to work after a little time-out after his divorce. Too bad his wife works here too - she's the niece of the boss! Plus, she's the lead attorney on the case Grant wants to handle: Ben - his best buddy from childhood - and also a famous basketball star, has been arrested for killing a famous country singer! Grant's wife is not even trying to win this case - she's only out for her own career! It's up to Grant and his new - kinda amazing - assistant, to save the day!

What will happen with Roxie and Grant?
Falling in love while finding the real killer?
Will we get our happily ever after?
READ THE BOOK TO FIND OUT! ☺

I really enjoyed this story. It was a funny and adorable and moving romance. But also a real interesting, suspensy, lawyerish mystery!

Grant and Roxie are really adorable. He's the moody grouchy lawyer and she's the sweet and happy super-assistant. They're so not supposed to be a perfect match - but they are!!!

People at the firm said he will hate that she's a mother - but he seems to love her little girl.

We have so many adorable moments with them - but also many exciting killer-finding moments!
I loved reading this book - it might have been a tiny little bit too long with all the killer-searching and talking to witnesses and doing research, but pfff, I really liked reading it.

RESISTING REDEMPTION was such an adorable and exciting romance! A tough and grouchy lawyer falls for his assistant who was never supposed to be a PA but a Vet! So cute! And grrrr - who killed Josh?? Run to your nearest amazon to find out!!!!

Oh I cannot believe how much I thoroughly enjoyed this book. When I first started reading it, I wasn't sure I was going to like it but after the first chapter, I was hooked.

The author gave the characters such wit and intelligence, it was hard not to laugh out loud. It's one of those rare 'unputdownable' books.

I loved Roxie's character. As a single parent she's had it tough but she's got this independent quality that you couldn't help but admire. Grant's character was one of those you love from the outset. The story tries to depict him as this harsh, always into his work, unfeeling man, but right off the bat you know there's something deeper going on. I mean it's hard to believe a person would portray someone into being something they're not without reason and if you read the book you'll realise why.

I can't get over the camaraderie and the ease in which the characters gel. The whole book reads like a drama, a suspenseful crime drama, a bit like Ally McBeal actually but with less courtrooms. (Anyone remember Ally McBeal?) Well it was like that, only better. Resisting Redemption is like a spoof of a crime drama BUT intellectual, you could tell the author had spent her time researching and coming up with these plot twists. The character who was being accused of murder hires Grant as his lawyer and its Grant's - and now Roxie - job to find the real killer. There were twists and turns throughout and it really left me guessing until the very end. There's going to be one smart alec of a person that goes 'oh I knew who the killer was from the beginning.' And I'm going to be like 'HOW DUDE? HOW? (hate those people) My point being that I DIDN'T catch on to the killer and I really liked that I didn't because at the end I was like Noooooooo!! Shut the front door!! Haha!

Anyway, I think I've rambled enough. Actually I will just say that, for fans of contemporary romance, for fans of 'whodunnits' and fans of really great, written books, I urge you to pick up this one. You will NOT be disappointed. I will most definitely look out for this author in future.

It's 4.5 stars for me!
I love it when I find a great book slipping under the radar and can do my part to recommend it. It's an absolute page-turner.
I'me delighted to say Roxi is a real-life badass and I can't be more proud of her..go girl!!! Kind of tired of the doormat, weak, needy stereotype I normally find in many Romance books. I love to see a fierce working, no bullshit, street smart woman in my books.
The plot is VERY interesting, there is a high profile murder case going on where Grant's best friend is accused, a ticking clock, a battle of wills inside the Law firm, a prosecutor with a political interest in the case and an awful, resentful ex-wife.
The secondary characters were very well developed.
The romance itself is a low burn and I loved it. I could feel the chemistry growing but it didn't interfere with all the other things going on.
It's smart and beautifully written.
So... it's a different romance, I loved it, I think it's underrated and deserves much more attention. I checked out another Amabel Daniel's blurbs and apparently, she writes strong, real kick-ass female characters so I'm ready for another one.
The only reason I don't give 5 stars is bc I'm kind of Annie Wilkes and some things kept nagging me ( and having in mind all the plot dances around the murder trial and the investigation Roxi and Grant make based on the TOD, It's kind of important). A coroner can't establish the time of death with such accuracy that it reflects the hour and minutes a victim was shot. It's simply NOT how it works.

I received a copy of this book through NetGalley for my honest review.

3.5 stars - I absolutely loved the lead characters in this story. Roxie was truly a woman I'd like to be - sassy, smart, brave, strong, and puts up with no BS. She is unapologetically who she is. Grant is a alpha asshole, but has a beautiful heart of gold. He just needs Roxie to bring out the best in him. This was a case of loving the characters, but I just couldn't get into the storyline itself. I found it confusing and it didn't engage me. All I cared about was how these two interacted and their story of finding love - didn't matter to me one bit how they got together, just that they did.

I absolutely love this book! A well written murder mystery that keeps you guessing who the killer is.
Josh, a musician was murdered.
Ben is accused of murdering Josh since they have had their differences over the years.
But who really murdered Josh? There are so many twists and turns in rhis mystery that keeps you so intrigued.

I Voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book

Roxie took a job as an assistant to a lawyer Grant Newland. Grant has just come back from a hiatus where he left his job as he was getting a divorce. Taking this job she was warned about Grant being a slave driver and a difficult person to work with, as assistants didn't last past the first day.
But Roxie had to take this job as she needed to take care of her 8month old daughter by herself. So taking this job would be a plus for her as they promised her a bonus if she can last past the case that Grant is working on now.

From the minute they met Grant and Roxie had this underlying attraction, but they put it aside to concentrate on their case. A case of murder that his ex-wife, yes she works at the firm too, is first chair on and he is just assisting. But add in the fact that the accused is Grant's friend and it looks like the ex has a agenda of her own. As why would she want her client to plead guilty to something he didn't do.

This book started off at a running pace, its filled with intrigue and who did it and discovering all the secrets and who actually killed the famous singer. And what does the ex gain if the friend goes to jail. And in between all of this Grant and Roxie are aware of their growing feelings for each other. But can Grant trust another women and can Roxie trust a man when the last one got her into the mess of raising a little girl on her own and loosing out on becoming a Vet.

If you like intrigue and drama and suspense then this one is for you. I enjoyed every minute of this book and this is a new author to me, so will definitely check out the rest of her books

Resisting Redemption is an absolutely amazing read from Amabel Daniels. I am new to the works of Ms. Daniels, but after reading this brilliant book I will be immersing myself in her books whenever I get the chance. I loved this romantic suspense; it was quite an addictive read- it had mystery, intrigue, drama, fear, danger, some action, and so much more.
I won’t bother going into plot details, as the blurb does a better job than I could ever do, and I really don’t want to give away any spoilers. But I will tell you that I think you are really missing out if you don’t read this book.
I loved MS. Daniels style; it has an easy, smooth and yet lively quality to it- full of wonderful attention to detail- she really has a way with words that completely draws you into her story and keeps you transfixed to the pages, obsessed from the very first page, and captivated even after every word has been read. I read the book a few days ago and it still on my mind- that’s how good it was!
Her characters were all really well developed, with interesting and unique personalities- I loved everything about them.
This book has so much going on in it, the story is complex and multi-layered. Ms. Daniels has blended all the elements into a wonderfully original, dynamic and incredibly memorable read.
I will definitely be reading more from this talented author!

Thank you, Ms. Daniels!

This book was amazing! I wasn't sure who the killer was until the end. Usually I can figure it out but almost everyone either had a motive or would benefit from the crime. The twists at the end of the book had my head spinning. I might have fist pumped a few times because dang!
Grant started off as a harda$$ but he's got good reason to be. Roxie shook him up quite a bit. By the end of the book Grant is this sweet, marshmallow of a man. Roxie stays the same. She's just hands down amazing.
I can't gush enough about Amabel Daniels. This was my first read for her but I'll definitely be on the lookout for her in the future. I need more of her books in my life.

Grant has reasons to be the way he is and so does Roxie. These two crack me up, the suspense just about killed me, there were steamy scenes, scenes you just wanted to hug them and THEN there was the ex of Grant's. I wanted to smack the crap out of her!!! UGH!!!!

A new author to me and I will definitely be checking out her other books!!!

Resisting Redemption is a 5 star read! When Roxie is hired as a PA to a demanding lawyer, Grant, she has no idea that the job she originally accepts because of the huge bonus attached to it, will end up changing her life and introducing her to the man that will come to matter more to her than anyone else in the world, save for her daughter, Lucy.

I admit I was a little leery to read, once I read that Grant hated kids. I mean come on, anyone who hates kids can't possibly be redeemed. But, Grant soon proved his worth, as a hero in the story, as a lawyer, and as a partner to sassy, feisty, smart Roxie. And later, as a father to Lucy. The case Roxie and Grant are working on is almost as interesting as the developing romance and that's to be appreciated, as sometimes the romance in romances can overtake everything else, but here in Resisting Redemption, the case is complicated, suspenseful and intriguing. I had absolutely no idea who the real culprit was, so kudos to Amabel for not only a sexy, sweet romance, but also an intriguing, smart mystery.

As for the romance, you won't be disappointed if you're only reading for that aspect. Grant and Roxie have smokin' hot chemistry, aided by a realistic and well-developed professional relationship. It's not a case of insta-love here, they don't even get intimate until about 60% in (in a seriously sexy incident involving the wall of an alley after having been chased down by security), rather, it's a case of genuine feelings of admiration and respect slowly developed on both their parts, combined with the lust that not too soon, morphs into more. Grant bares his soul to Roxie, sheds the layers of grumpy, strict, alpha male and reveals that he's a deeply loving, kind man who had only wanted a family and was maliciously rebuffed by his scheming, cold-hearted ex-wife. Roxie is more of an open book than Grant, but she's to be respected, and Grant does soon come to respect her. She's a single mom, a hard-working, independent, intelligent woman who's just trying to do what's best for her daughter. As they work the case and fall for each other, I was cheering for this wonderful, engaging, entertaining couple!

If you like your romances with large doses of feisty moms, adorable babies, intriguing legal cases, and sexy as hell, swoon-worthy legal eagle men, then Resisting Redemption should be on your TBR list!

I received an ARC through NetGalley for an honest review.

Resisting Redemption by Amabel Daniels

5 Amazing Stars

This book is officially one of my favorite books of the year, there's only a few on this list and this one has just been added. You read in reviews often that a book was just impossible to put down, let me say this…..This book was completely impossible to put down, I read it in just a few hours and am still upset that it is over. This is my first book by this author and I promise will not be my last. Her writing style is the exact reason I love to read so much.

This book was an edge of your seat, heart racing, mind reeling kind of book. Every single word was important and every single page brought something new. Not only that, but I actually felt like an investigator during this story, working right alongside Grant and Roxie trying to solve the mystery of who killed Josh and trying to prove that Grants friend Ben was innocent.

I loved these people, both of them with terrible pasts trying to find a way to get along and solve this mystery while avoiding at every turn their attraction to each other. I just can't say enough about how much I loved this book, I loved how everything played out, I love how the real Grant came out during the story and he wasn't at all as he seemed to be, or actually what people thought he was. I loved Roxie’s personality and her snarky attitude, they both fit what my perfect book couple would be.

This author is amazingly brilliant, I've read too many books to count in my life and its seldom now that I find one that has me totally forgetting that real life is happening around me, but this one did. Thank you Thank you Thank you Miss Daniels for an amazing story, and I can not wait to read more of your books!

Simply Amazing!!

Resisting Redemption by Amabel Daniels is a romance-suspense story. This is my first story by this author and I loved it and can't wait to see what else she has. This book really just pulled me in from the first word and kept me engaged until the last page. Once I started reading I couldn't put it down. I enjoyed her writing style and her attention to details that made me feel like I was right there with the characters. The characters are both connectable and lovable. They will not only take you on an emotional roller coaster ride but also the twists and turns will leave you sitting on the edge of your seat. This is the story of Roxie and Grant. Roxie is desperate for a job so she takes an assistant position with a law firm. She is an assistant to Grant who is not a very easy man to get along with or please. She really needs this job so she is willing to put up with what she needs to. Grant is just returning from a break from work after his divorce. The problem is that his ex-wife works in the same office. One of his reasons for returning is that his childhood friend finds himself in some trouble and needs help. Grant's problem once again is his ex-wife, she is the lead on this case and he wants it. Again, problem ex-wife, she just wants to further her career and Grant want to save his friend. Will Grant and Roxie save his friend or is there more to this then they realize? The more time they spend together the more feelings start developing. Is it possible that they can find their HEA after all this? I love this couple. They have such chemistry together, its like they just belong together. I love Roxie's character, she is strong, mouthy and doesn't seem to have a filter. Grant is a sexy, hot lawyer that wants things the way he wants them. I think he could let up a little bit and not be so stuff but I love him anyway. With the secondary characters you will either love them or hate them. A few was really hard not to hate because they were so into themselves it drove me crazy. I will say the story wouldn't be the same without them. I highly recommend this story as I know you will want to see what happens to Grant and Roxie and if they will find their HEA.

Resisting Redemption is the first book I have had the privilege of reading by new to me author Amabel Daniels. From the first page I was sucked into this story, a story that didn’t let up one iota until the very end. It’s not often that the romance of the book takes a back seat to the mystery in the story line for me as a reader, this book accomplished just that.
This is the story of Roxie Malone and Grant Newland. Roxie has just been hired as personal assistant to criminal attorney Grand Newland. From the beginning Roxie is led to believe that Grant is a difficult person to work with, demanding, cocky, arrogant, you name it. She needs the job and promised bonus too badly though to let some “old”, set in his ways attorney ruin this chance for her. What she doesn’t expect is the model-like Grant that she gets.
Grant has been put through the wringer by his ex-wife/co-worker, Tara, whom now he has to work with in order to prove his client and longtime friend is innocent of the murder he is accused of. Once he does this he plans on leaving the firm and opening his own practice far away from Tara and the machinations of criminal law. He just has to make it through this one case, but doing that is proving difficult when he has to work with his ex-wife. Things change when Roxie comes to work with him, she sees through the Ex right from the beginning and proves a breath of fresh air that Grant has in need of. Right from the beginning Roxie and Grant work well together, they play off of one another exceptionally well both in the romance department and in a professional light.
I couldn’t get enough of this book and the author definitely had me guessing right from the start, I thought several times that I knew who committed the crime but things kept going in different directions to the point that I didn’t even have it figured out until the final reveal! I was even surprised when the villain came clean about the reasoning behind the murder. This was such a good book and Roxie is who I want to be when I grow up, and I can’t wait to see what other books Ms. Daniels has out there and what will be coming in the future since now she has landed a place on my watch list.

The Story
The story started on a good note. It hooked me from the moment Grant and Roxie met to the time the case closed. I thought the author did an excellent job in blending the elements of romance, mystery, suspense and drama, creating an intriguing read. The story flowed beautifully, the pacing steady and the plot well developed.

The Romance
One of the things I enjoyed about this story was the development of the romance between protagonists. I loved the way they interacted with each other. Humour and sarcasm filled their conversations and their arguments. Their chemistry sizzled and the sexual tension so thick, you could cut it with a knife. Their efforts to fight their feelings for each other were fuelled by issues from their past. I am happy to say it took time for them to become intimate, which added a realistic feel to their romance.

The Case
The thread involving the case, which Grant had return to defend was filled with intrigue. I eagerly flipped the pages as my curiosity about the case peaked. I enjoyed the challenges Roxie and Grant faced in the process of finding the truth. Nothing about this case was easy as there were many suspects and several possible motives. Things heated up at around the last twenty percent of the story and from that moment I was on edge and anxious about the big reveal. I had several ideas about the identity of the suspect and the motive. I had the suspect dead to rights, but the motive was a shocker.

The Characters
Roxie is a woman after my heart. Fiercely protective of those she love. She had a hard life growing up and wanted the best for her daughter. Never once did she sit around feeling sorry for her circumstances. If I were to describe her in five words, I would say she was smart, sassy, hardworking, independent and a survivor.

I was prepared to dislike Grant, based on the second-hand information, but as the story progressed, I fell totally and completely in love with him. So I could relate to how Roxie felt about him. Grant is demanding, grouchy, smart, hardworking and moody when it came to the job, but on a personal level, he is caring, funny and adorable.
They worked well together and they brought out the best in each other. With Roxie, Grant became a better version of himself. She kept him on his toes at all times. They made a good team in every facet of their lives.

Supporting Characters.
The story featured an eclectic mix of supporting characters. Some likeable and some on the other end of the spectrum. The worst of them was Grant’s ex-wife, a schemer and a manipulator. Her actions throughout the story was designed to thwart Grant and Roxie at every turn.

Issues
I found the end disappointing. The events after the truth was revealed were glossed over. The author instead of showing what transpired told it, which for me spoiled what could have been an exciting end.

Conclusion/Recommendation
Do you enjoy humour, suspense, and mystery with your romance? Get a copy of Resisting Redemption. I will definitely be reading more from this author.

The disgusting hero slut shamed the heroine. The following conversation took place during the interview when the so-called Hero hired the heroine.

“Her father was a one-night stand. He never chose to acknowledge her. What? What’s that look for?”

He grimaced. “Ever hear of a condom?”

She faced Grant again and chewed on her lower lip, tempering herself to choose her words carefully. “We used one.”

“Let me guess. It broke.”

Narrowing her eyes, she couldn’t help but wonder at his obvious annoyance. She’d expected judgment, but not the kind he seemed hung up on. “He used a condom. I was also on birth control. From a biological statistic, the odds were probably at a 0.0001% chance of conception.” He studied her. “What else would you like to know? What else is going to help clarify the crappy impression you’ve made of me?”

“She was a mistake? And you kept her?”

“No. Yes. I certainly hadn’t planned on her. But she’s not a mistake. I love her. It just wasn’t the way I ever envisioned starting a family. She’s my daughter and nothing will ever be more important in my life.” Grant frowned deeper. She held a hand up. “Which doesn’t mean I can’t do my job! She is my life. But it doesn’t imply I can’t also have employment. What are you, a flashback from the fifties?”

“I’ll be the judge of that.” He snorted. “If you were so careless to have gotten knocked up with some stranger, then I have to wonder if you can—”

She fisted his tie and pulled him closer. “I was not careless. You think you have the right to belittle me? I took all possible precautions. Not to mention, I probably hadn’t even had sex for two years before…” She jabbed her nail into his chest. “I wasn’t a slut who slept around. I took a break. For one night, I took a break from studying and working and thought, what the hell? I’ll go to a bar and actually have a drink. Maybe I’ll dance with someone. Maybe I’ll be like every other person in the world and get laid. I did nothing wrong except carry my baby to term and love her. I’ll be damned if you get all high and mighty on me.”

Resisting Redemption By Amabel Daniel's

Resisting Redemption by Amabel Daniel's is a romance suspense story. This is my first book by this author and I absolutely will be reading more from her.I was literally sucked in from the beginning and was hooked till the end, some parts I was on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what was going to happen next. You get taken on a roller-coaster ride of emotions at times and there are definitely some twists and turns. This is the story about Roxie and Grant.Roxie finds herself in a situation where she's desperate for a job so she takes a assistant job for a law firm. She's the assistant to Grant and he's by what she hears not easy to work with/for.She really needs this job so she's willing to do what she has to do.Grant is just getting back from a little break,he's recently been divorced. One problem with that is he works with his now ex-wife at the law firm. One reason he came back is one of his friends from childhood is in some trouble and needs his help. One problem with that is the ex wife has gotten her hands on this case before grant but not for long.Grant and Roxie actually work well together after you get over the awkwardness. The only problem is that they are both attracted to each other, but can they act on this attraction? The more they work together, side by side the more she's attracted to him and vice versa.Grant wants Roxie but does he ever get her?these two set out to prove his friends innocence .They work it seems nonstop gathering information trying to pinpoint when and by whom it happens. Do these two finally give in to their desire for each other? I'm not going to say anymore except I highly recommend this book especially if you want to know how it works out. I also can't wait to read more from this author.

Resisting Redemption by Amabel Daniels is a great legal novel added in the sassy assistant, the moody lawyer and you have the makings of a great slow burn romance.

This is the first story I have read by this author and enjoyed the slow burn of the story and the witty back and forth of the two main characters. Add in the threat of saving a man for being accused of a murder he did not do you have a great story.

I loved that Roxie was a broken person who had not had a great start in life but had the grit and determination to look after those she held dear to her heart, also add in the job she has to succeed at to get the bonus she needs so badly made an very interesting character to back drop the other character of Grant.

Although Grant is a successful lawyer, he himself has not had it easier from being golden boy to falling from grace in the matter of months since his divorce and giving a persona that he does not care but introduce Roxie to the mix as his sassy, outspoken assistant you get to see he is not what people expect him to be, which is what I loved about him.

At the beginning I thought this was going to be another alpha male story and the sassy yet submissive women and they fall for each other and the rest is history but this story was none of that at all. I loved the way the author introduces the characters back history slow as they both start trusting each other and respecting their relationship. The chemistry also simmers in the background until it is released and you are wondering what will happen next.

Will Tara, Grant's ex wife put a spanner in the works regarding the case or will Grant and Roxie's determination to provide Ben innocent win in the end, you will have to read the book.

I really enjoyed this book and will be searching more books from this author in the future.

WOW Resisting Redemption is amazing loved everything about it , this would be my first read by Amabel Daniels and it wont be my last I'll also be reading Appetite of Envy and Better Than the Best because some characters from them are in this .Roxie and Grant are really great heroine and hero they click very well together the world play is a foreplay in itself . Right from the first page Roxies character reminded me of Julia Roberts character in Erin Brockovich she's funny , head strong , sassy , beautiful and loves her adorable daughter would do anything for her . In the beginning Grant as the heroine describes is a robot but once he meets Rox she brings him back to life smiles , laughs , gets his mojo back in the court room , plus he can be quite naughty at times loved how he is with heroines little girl he had me swooning with the thoughtful things he did . There was a slow build with the heat but the sexual tension was off the charts hot . Liked that there was more to the story and I felt connected to the characters with them trying to find the person not guilty I felt like I was on that journey with them . Will be reading more by this author definite must read .

I have to admit that I was a little shocked by how much I loved this story. I really didn’t think I would like Grant much as he was such a cranky character, and a little uppity. But watching how his character developed throughout the story was truly enjoyable. He definitely got kicked in the teeth by his witch of an ex and then went into a downward spiral, but he was able to pick himself back up and come back to the one place that he knew he never wanted to come to help save a friend. And Roxie is beyond awesome!

Roxie Malone is such an engaging character in this story. She has been more than knocked down, she has been knocked down and then kicked over and over, but she never stayed down. She got right back up and threw herself into moving on with her life and she did a bang up job of that the further I read. She is a single mother that is willing to tame the dragon of the office to make sure that she is able to afford what her baby needs. But she never figured that she would become attached to not only the case that she is thrown into, but the attorney that is handling it.

Roxie and Grant as beautiful as a couple. Roxie is snarky and so sarcastically wonderful! She has a backbone of steel and that is comes in well for her when it comes to dealing with Grant. But he begins to see Roxie for more than the lustful apparition that makes him want to break his rule about work and no play! Together they are able to navigate the lies and betrayal that continue to spread the further the case moves along and able to overcome both their walls to see the love that is waiting for them. A truly amazing story that I highly recommend to anyone!

Roxie Malone is desperate for a good paycheck no matter what, so it leads her to take on being an assistant for hard to please criminal attorney, but nobody told her that he would be so yummy. That doesn't matter, as she's going to make this work because the bonus that she's offered if she doesn't get fired will take a portion of debt away, so she refuses to mix business with pleasure. Grant Newland is one of the top criminal attorneys around, until life takes the drive out of him, and he has to take a leave of absence. But he did so at the worst time, since one of his closest friends gets charged with murder, so he comes back determined. However, his new assistant could be a distraction, as he's as attracted to her as much as she annoys him. So Roxie and Grant put down their pasts demons to find out who killed the famous singer Josh Warren, and that's when it gets really interesting. I have never read Amabel Daniels, and I have missing out! Resisting Redemption had all of boxes ticked to make it a better than perfect read. Sassy heroine that doesn't take crap from anyone? Check. Mouth watering, tortured soul hero, who isn't a manwhore, who has to get his act together? Check. Chemistry off the charts explosive? Check check! And added in suspense filled mystery? CHECK! Amabel Daniels has a fantastic writing style that has me all kinds of addicted after the first book that I read by her! I stayed on the edge of my seat trying to figure out who dun it, which kept the f-bombs dropping while the heart raced. Plus, Roxie's witty sass kept me laughing hard throughout, and I kept wishing that she would come out of the book to have a drink with me! I am super excited to read more by this fabulous author, and HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

Resisting Redemption by Amabel Daniels was an amazing novel that I could not put down. Roxie Malone is a single mother who is trying to find a decent paycheck that will provide for her and her daughter Lucy. She finds herself at a law firm as an assistant for a rumoured needy lawyer who will put up with no nonsense. Unfortunately for her, Grant Newland is a totally hottie but Roxie knows she cannot cross that line. Roxie cannot help her spit fire, sarcastic remarks when she is uncomfortable, however she has to keep reminding herself to not get fired. She needs to stay employed until the end of Grant’s case so she can earn the huge bonus. Grant is faced with troubles at the law firm due to a nasty divorce. He had just recently come back from a leave of absence to better his mind after the divorce. Of course, Grant’s ex-wife just so happens to be a partner of the law firm and must work with her on the current case. The current case deals with one of Grant’s old friends who is being tried for murder. Grant is determined to show his friend is not guilty, regardless if he finds his new assistant attractive or not. He needs to remain focused and win this case or he might find himself without a job.

The relationship that builds between Roxie and Grant is both beautiful and complicated. Both have built up walls around their hearts and personal lives due to their past. But the more they work together, the more they cannot help but get more comfortable with each other. Putting their personal lives aside, they work well to answer the burning question...who killed Josh Warren? The mystery behind the case is interesting and it was a lot of fun to see Roxie and Grant piece together the puzzle from practically no evidence.

A complimentary copy of this book was given to me by the Quill and Ink Review Team in exchange for my honest review.

My oh my! It's not often that I encounter a romance novel that I've enjoyed so thoroughly. The characters were well-written, dynamic, intricate, and wholly believable. The plot-line was developed, maintained the focus of the story (rather than the main duo's burgeoning relationship), and was articulately expressed.

The main duo, while acknowledging increasing attraction to each other, "restrained" themselves until nearly 50% of the way through the book (and it's a long book!), which made the slow burn all the more delicious.

The only critique I have is the ending. The whole point of this story was to have a falsely-accused character's name cleared in this widely-publicized "day in court." Instead, the ending came about in a "Murder Mystery: Who done it?" fumble when one of the villains jumped the gun by deciding to try to murder the Duo. The reasons? After all the research and set-up done prior in this lengthy book, several new characters and motives were tossed out - and oh, of course, the whole thing was caught on recording.

So no big day in court.

For this reason, the ending seemed surprisingly hurried and, well, fake. I wonder why Daniels didn't elect to take the road of the dramatic court case and brilliant defense attorney sweeping the floor with the out-maneuvered villain(s). I think that would have been a much stronger route for this book to conclude upon (with the obligatory romantic epilogue, of course).

Be that as it may, I still very much enjoyed this book for the journey of the characters up to that point.

Resisting Redemption by Amabel Daniels was a mixture of romance, suspense, intrigue and murder mystery all rolled into one. Resisting Redemption is the story of Roxie, a single mother just trying to get by, and how she comes into a job with a man no one can work for and her determination to make things work for her child. I fell in love with Roxie’s characters immediately, not only because she was a sarcastic spit fire but because she was willing to do anything for her child. Her new boss, Grant, was portrayed as a horrible man, but even in the beginning you could tell there was something more to him. Uncovering the layers of him and how Roxie peeled them all away throughout this story really made me fall in love with both of them as characters. The murder mystery angle was handed really well, and the supporting characters added enough depth to the story that it was a real page turner. I would have liked to have this book be longer, because I got really attached to this story line. After finishing this review I am looking for more books by Daniels, because this one really captivated me, keeping me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. Amabel Daniels is a new to me author, but I am so glad that I took a chance on this book. The blurb really drew me in and the book itself did not disappoint in the least. I hope that she turns this into a series because I would love to see more of Roxie’s fiery spirit and Grant’s tenacity.

Resisting Redemption by Amabel Daniels
5 Stars

Once I started reading this book, I couldn’t put it down. I’m so happy that this was the first book that I have read from Amabel Daniels because I definitely want to read more. I’m not usually interested in crime solving books but this one had a bit of everything thrown in.

Grant Newland is a very difficult man. He’s a high powered defence attorney who has lost his drive. He used to win any case thrown his way. After his divorce, he took a much needed leave of absence. Unfortunately, it was bad timing. While away, his friend is charged with murder of the famous singer Josh Warren. Grant races back fully intending to defend him. He’ll need to find another assistant seeing that every other one that he’s had only lasts a day.

In walks Roxie Malone, whom I adore. She’s a sassy, no nonsense redhead with a fiery attitude. Though this is not her dream job, she’s determined to see it through. She has debts and legal fees to pay off. Grant is somewhat of a slave driver but she didn’t expect him to look like a Greek god. The attraction between the two grows stronger as the book progresses. It culminates in one particular scene that will take your breath away. Wow!!

There was drama and suspense, intrigue and power struggles with some sexual tension and love thrown in. It was an amazing book that I couldn’t put down. Amabel Daniels struck gold with this one. Good job!

Resisting Redemption
Amabel Daniels
☆☆☆☆☆
This is a Novel with a little bit of romance and a whole lot of mystery. Or a mystery and a whole lot of romance.

Roxie is a single mother who has put her daughter first. Even before her own happiness. Roxie is strong willed and determined to do things on her own. She lost her parents and sister at the age of 16. She has pretty much taken care of herself sense then. She has made a few wrong choices, but has never blamed others. Now she is trying to do everything to keep her job. But her boss is so darn good looking. She must keep the two separated. Boss and job, boyfriend and unemployment.

Grant the Boss! A top lawyer in his field, until he struggled with his cheating wife. Just coming back from a much needed sabbatical. Needing to get his life back on track when, he hears his best friend is being charged with murder. Racing back to his job, fighting with his ex wife for the case. Now he has to prove is friend innocent, to keep his job. He also has a beautiful assistant, that has her own problems. He does not need to be one of them.

Amabel Daniels has taken her story, dragged you into the middle of this case. She is funny, and tells it like it is. She captures you on page one and runs with her story. I love how she broke things of importance down for you. Her book is well written and interesting. Her characters are not only funny, but they are believable. Well do!

Resisting Redemption is a great book that embodies so many genres. It has a lot of mystery, a lot of romance, some murder, intrigue, and suspense. Grant and Roxie are both strong characters and are multi-dimensional. They both have a lot to prove and spend a lot of time trying to put their work in front of their attraction to each other. Grant is an attorney, determined to help his best friend beat a murder accusation and Roxie is his newly hired assistant who is desperate for any job and determined to prove herself to her new boss. Grant surprises everyone by his out of character attention to Roxie and Lucy and the way he treats them. Roxie and Grant have challenges to overcome such as a lot of past relationship history and drama and the fact that Grant's ex-wife works closely with him. They also face the challenge of putting work before love or a relationship. There is a lot at stake for both of them.

Resisting Redemption was well written and a real page-turner. I loved Roxie’s character and her spunk and attitude. The dialogue between all of the characters was humorous, believable and the characters were all relatable. I really enjoyed this book, how it flowed and the outcome. It is probably one of my favorite reads of the year. It had a lot going on and was pretty complex and it all worked together wonderfully. I would recommend Resisting Redemption and look forward to reading more by this author.

5 Star Review By Jodi for Ruby Red Romance Review

So...I totally dropped the ball on this book. It's completely my fault. I meant to read and review this book sooner, but well...I suck! So I got my butt in gear and read this book. I'm honestly sorry I didn't read it sooner. Amabel Daniels did an amazing job with this book. I have to say, it was a breath of fresh air to read a book where the characters didn't have sex within the first two chapters.

Grant and Roxie are some of my favorite characters I have read in a long time. Roxie is smart, sassy, and sexy. She's a strong woman and a great character. Grant is strong willed, always right, and beyond hot. These two have preconceived notions about each other that couldn't be further from the truth. In the end, they both found that they wanted the same thing...justice! LOL! Admit it, you all thought I was going to say sex! My only negative about this book, it that it is a little long. At 475 pages this one took me a minute to read, but it is a great story.

This book is one that I will read again. It is beautifully written and I loved the characters. Amabel Daniels did an amazing job with this story. It captured my attention from the beginning and didn't let go. I hope you all will take the time to read this book. I promise you will love it.

Title: Resisting Redemption
Author:Amabel Daniels

Resisting Redemption was a great 5 star read.

Roxie is a single mom who has accepted a job as an assistant for a lawyer. When she arrives the first day she is offered a bonus if she can make it through the first day without getting fired.

Grant has just returned after taking some time off, his friend is being accused of murder and he needs to help him. Problem is that his ex wife is also on the team to defend him.

When Roxie and Grant meet they are both instantly attracted to each other. Roxie is a feisty thing that is very mouthy and straight forward, I loved her.
Grant was like a dancing Hershey bar, doing a striptease of his wrapper in front of a person fasting for twenty-four hours. Roxie is determined to help Grant with the case and when they discover something by accident, things really get interesting.

Will Grant be able to help his friend? Who is the killer? Can these two keep things strictly professional?

I really loved this book there were so many twists and turns. I love trying to figure out who the killer was to only be shocked at the end, didn’t see that coming. Roxie was such a lovable character I was LOL so many times. And Grant was quite the hottie lawyer. This is my first read from Amabel Daniels and I loved it, I can’t wait to read more from her.
