And so on to a quick filler - I say this as I am sure these cross section books and getting thinner. Now I will admit I have no idea how long it takes for the book to be assembled - from the artwork being created to the layout and printing but I feel that even so this is on the light side and I have all the other cross section books from the series

Anyway what I cannot fault them on is the quality and detail that goes in to these books. Considering the amount of screen time and exposure these craft get on screen someone has put a huge amount of time in to their design and appearance. Now I now from reading the behind the scenes books (such as the Industrial Light and Magic books) that there is a lot of detail that is created for the films which is never referred to or even sometimes used but which all go towards the pieces. Now for me it shows a level of commitment and access you normally would not expect and as such like I say the level of detail is astounding and one of the reasons why I love these books so much - I just wish there was more to them.

Anyway I guess I have to be patient and wait and see what the 3rd and final instalment brings from the current film trilogy and I wonder if they will carry it on through the TV series they are now preparing too - I guess I will have to wait and see.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi: Incredible Cross-Sections is more than just a look inside the ships and vehicles of the movie, it’s an all out guide to them inside and out. Much like the previous Incredible Cross-Sections for The Force Awakens, this book pulls double duty by providing cross-section artwork as well as technical details, explanations on how they work, how they’re used and some of the history behind them. For fans of the ships and vehicles of Star Wars, this book is a must have.

First off, artist Kemp Remillard does a great job with the cross-sections featured in this book. There are cutaways of all the major ships and vehicles that give viewers a better idea of what’s inside these things. And there’s no shortage of detail in the images. From crew decks and cabin spaces to the blasters and engine parts, it’s all in there. But while a picture may be worth a thousand words, the images wouldn’t be able to answer fan questions without the excellent details provided by Jason Fry.

Each ship and vehicle in the book has some great information provided by Jason Fry. If you’re interested in the ships of the Resistance fleet, you can find all the technical details in this book. From manufacturers to the length of the ship or the number of weapons emplacements or crew personnel, nearly every aspect is covered. On top of that, there’s background information that talks about where these ships came from, their purpose, who their captain is, and sometime fun info that hints at interesting backstories. For instance, Jason Fry sneaks in some story details on the ski speeders that explains what they were originally intended for. I don’t want to ruin it as it’s fun little detail, but things like that really make the book not just an information resource, but an enjoyable read.

There’s also some great information in this book. The details on Snoke’s ship really enhance the magnitude of the vessel and the cross-sections show the scope of what it’s capable of. There’s information that explains how the Resistance bombers work, including what prevents people from flying out of the ship when they open the bomb bay doors and just how those bombs are able to seemingly fall in space. There’s a cutaway of the ship DJ steals which shows the layout of the ship and possibly hints at some scenes we did not see which would have shown more of the ship. Yet one of the best things the book includes is a size comparison chart in the back that shows the scale of all the ships to each other. It can be hard to gauge just how big Snoke’s ship was in comparison to Leia’s ship in the movie, but here you’ll get a great idea of just how massive it is.

With lots of great information, awesome illustrations, plus pictures from the movie, The Last Jedi: Incredible Cross-Sections is definitely a book you’ll want to check out. There is a bunch of information covered in this book that you won’t find in The Last Jedi: The Visual Dictionary, so the two books complement each other well. At only 48 pages, it’s a very quick read, but Jason Fry manages to make it a fun experience. I give it a five out of five.

Many of the ships and vehicles seen in The Last Jedi were new, and original. Seeing them dissected and in-depth was fascinating. I also liked how, in this book, that the images of the ships looked more as they did in the film, and less like paintings as was the case with other cross section books. In addition, there were more people shown in these cross sections, so you got a real sense of how the ships functioned for those on them.

Some of the ones I enjoyed examining most were:

The Raddus - Named after one of my favorite Admirals, you got to see the engines, decks and inner-workings.

A-Wing Bomber - Next to the X-Wing, the Rebellion/Resistance fighter I like the most. A small, compact ship, but it packs a punch.

The Supremacy - Snoke's flagship and a menacing vessel. Such a large scale, with so many weapons emplacements.

TIE Silencer - A sleek, modern, harsh looking TIE fighter. It strikes fear.

Wonderful art and informative text, an enjoyable read.

The only reason this got 4/5 is I feel it definitely needed a little more content. Following along the lines of previous Star Wars: Incredible Cross-Sections, this covers the starships and vehicles present in The Last Jedi. For me, the most interesting details concerned Supreme Leader Snoke's flagship, the Supremacy . I hadn't seen much information about it before so it was great to see a mountain of information regarding its history, weapons and crew count. .

If you're a fan of The Last Jedi, or just Star Wars in general, this book is for you!

Excellent resource book for the ships of the Last Jedi. There seemed to be more information packed into this book over other "cross-section" books I've read in the past. I was in love with the bombers in TLJ and so I was glad to see them fully detailed here. So much detail!
Every ship you could think of was here, and I especially liked the scale drawings of all of the ships together... from the Supremacy to the tiniest ship. What great sense of scale.
If you're a SW fan you'll like this book, but if you're REALLY a SW fan and geek out on all the cool ships, then this is for you.

I’m more impressed with the vehicle design of The Last Jedi when compared to The Force Awakens. I particularly enjoy the Resistance MG-100 bomber. Feels like the iconic Boeing WWII bombers with ball turrets, bomb bay, and the same type of overlapping flight formation to defend against fighters. I feel like more thought was put into the new designs this time which I appreciate.

Just as good as the cross section book for The Force Awakens, with just about the right level of detail on each of the vehicles included.

The couple of larger panoramic photographs were neat, but I'd rather have had even more cross section and technology breakdowns instead.

Amazing illustrations of the ships seen in the Last Jedi. It's so cool to see the breakdown of each ship. These pictures make the movies seem even more real. I really liked how they put drawings of the actual characters in the ships acting out their individual duties as seen in the movie.

Some nice illustrations from the Last Jedi. Wish there were a handful more true cross-sections and better descriptions / accompanying text. Otherwise a solid, but not spectacular Star Wars DK output.

This edition is very interesting because of the many new designs for the movie. It even includes some of the landspeeders seen in Canto Bight. An excellent companion for the Visual Dictionary.

Cool pictures, but like the visual dictionary it’s kind of anemic on information

Interesting look at the vehicles of the movie (as always).

I always feel like I want a little bit more from these books for the price, though...

I wish it contained a few more ships, and a few more of the gorgeous two-page stills from the movie, but still a good book. And, yes, I am a Star Wars geek.

Excellent cross-sections and for me, as a Star Wars LEGO fan, a good 'LEGO idea book'. Only for fans who liked The Last Jedi
