In this exciting audio set, Dr. Brant Pitre takes you on an in-depth exploration of the person who stands at the heart of Christianity: Jesus Christ. Drawing on his graduate level Christology lectures and his knowledge of Scripture and official Church teaching, this course answers essential theological questions such as:
Who wrote the four Gospels? Are they historically reliable? What is the Church’s official teaching on this question? What does the Catholic Church teach about Creation and the Fall? Why is it so important to Christology? What is the Christology of the Old Testament? How are the prophecies of the Old Testament fulfilled in Christ? What are the four main reasons God became Incarnate? What do the Christological Councils teach us about the person of Christ? Did Jesus know he was the Messiah? Did he know he was divine? What is the biblical evidence? Why have many modern scholars doubted his Messiahship and Divinity? What did Jesus mean by “The Kingdom of God”? How did the death of Christ effect our Redemption? Why was it necessary? What is the meaning of the Resurrection and Ascension of Jesus?
In addition to these key issues, Dr. Pitre will present detailed study of major episodes from the life of Christ. You will see the mysteries of Jesus’ Baptism, Temptation, Transfiguration, and Crucifixion like you have never seen them before.

This is the best single item—book, movie, audio set—I have experienced on Jesus, the Second Person of the Blessed Trinity, since Fulton Sheen’s Life of Christ*, in terms of awakening new perspectives for me. My sister has been urging me to read Pitre for a long time and now I can see why. He is orthodox, erudite—without being in any way stuffy or obnoxious, funny and an excellent teacher. He gives you simple tools to ‘plow’ Scripture in order to dig up more.
Downside, which wasn’t really, sometimes he would refer to one of his other courses just when a discussion would get interesting. There was some excellent classroom discussion, usually at the end of the lecture, which brought out even more.
I now want to do several of his other series but need to let dear husband listen to this first, so we can do them together. Listened to this on my own and wished we had done it together.
Most highly recommended!
*I read that after Pope Benedict’s trilogy on Jesus, which was another paradigm shift for me.
August 19, 2017: Course outline is available here. If you check out Pitre's website, in particular the page, Excerpts and Outlines, you will not even have to ask if I am going to be doing more of these courses, you will KNOW.
My sister loaned me this set and the follow-on when I went home to visit. There is printable course outline (26 pages) at his website. It is 22 CDs, a full semester college course. I am going to be doing this for a very looooong time.
