A dark pirate romance from USA Today Bestselling author Zoe Blake Isabelle is playing a dangerous game. Denying a pirate something he wants is never a good idea, especially when that pirate is powerful, handsome and determined to bend you to his will. Will Isabelle's pirate captor become her master, or will she capture his heart?
Zoe Blake is the USA Today Bestselling Author of the romantic suspense saga The Cavalieri Billionaire Legacy inspired by her own heritage as well as her obsession with jewelry, travel, and the salacious gossip of history’s most infamous families.
She delights in writing Dark Romance books filled with overly possessive billionaires, taboo scenes, and unexpected twists. She usually spends her ill-gotten gains on martinis, vacations, and red lipstick.
Once again, Zoe Blake has spun a tale, this time with lusty pirates seizing a British vessel and capturing two women, maiden Isabelle and her companion, Marina.
Captain Jacques “Le Chanceux” (The Lucky) Tavernier claims Isabelle and twin brothers, Drake and Gregor lay claim to Marina.
The plot kept me captivated and the pages turning in this sizzling tales on the high seas with multiple spankings and implements, explicit sex scenes, anal play, ménages à trios, kidnap and capture, and even a happily ever after ending.
So I have the biggest girl crush on Zoe Blake and her books are release day purchases as well as re reads nearly all the time. I like the grit - the edge - she has in the books. There is consensual non-consent and even times when the line becomes very blurry. She is also a bit harsher - I like it.
So this one (I mean PIRATES!) looked to be an amazing read. It was just ok. I didn't connect to either o of the main characters and I didn't really care what happened to any of them except for the secondary one (who got to be with 2 pirates - and I already forgot her name). This one seemed a bit tame for a Zoe B. Still have story with the great sex and descriptive writing (the strength IMHO) but this one had a more plodding pace then others to me. It's a cut above much that is out there but I'm rating it based on the author herself and her previous books.
Love captive Chance is one sexy pirate , Bella has enough sass to keep him on his toes Has some hot love scenes , spankings Looking for hot sexy historical Need to read about how Chance gets his treasure Bella ❤️
Get ready to set sail on a swashbuckling adventure with pirates and fair maidens with this story. Captain Jacques attacks a merchant ship bound for England on which noble born Isabelle and Marina her companion are travelling they are taken captive, Isabelle by Jacques and Marina by twin brothers Drake and Gregor who share everything.
I dare say Captain Jacques is no Cap'n Jack Sparrow. He certainly didn't have the latter's likeability. Jacques is a man who takes what he want, even a helpless woman. Isabelle, however, is no pushover and she does make him work for it, even though it results in punishments.
This story was a little darker than I expected. There are non-consensual and dubious consensual scenes. So be warned. Also the 'helicopter' omnipresent POV didn't work for me. It kept pulling me out of the story when I wanted to get into the character's heads, feel their emotions and see things through their perspectives.
Once you get use to the story telling style, this is an exciting story full of adventure and eroticism. I wouldn't necessarily want to be captured by Cap'n Jacques in my fantasy but I can see that he will appeal to those who enjoy non-con/dub-con erotica.
Sailing on her way to an arranged marriage our heroine and her maid servant are captured by pirates. From that point on is where this book veers off from all the others you have read with a similar beginning. For our heroine does not find herself with a gentleman pirate, rather she finds herself imprisoned by an actual pirate. To say this book is much more realistic than others you've read on this topic would be an understatement. It's very well written and you actually worry for the safety of the two women captives. That being said, there is romance to be found. There are also lots of spankings and punishments, some of which are quite harsh. Very explicit sex scenes are detailed regarding both women. In all, I feel this book gives you a much more realistic feeling of life aboard a pirate ship. While we do get an HEA, even that is not perfectly tied up with a bow. I found this book hard to put down and hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
This erotic pirate fantasy is pretty much straight up fantasy, complete with the handsome swashbuckling pirate and beautiful, innocent maiden. I wouldn't quite call it darkly erotic, but it was certainly not light either. Ms. Blake has solid writing skills and quite the talent for punishments that make you wince. She also doesn't allow her story to take itself too seriously, which really works for me.
The way Chance treated Belle was pretty rough, but the author managed to sprinkle in a bit of humor which kept it from getting too dark. Then again, I think it's just easier for me to buy into this behavior with pirate 'heroes' rather than contemporary bad boy leads like mafia hit men. So with a good dose of belief suspension, this story is fun fantasy fodder.

Isabelle is a lady on her way to England where she is to marry old Lord Arbuncle when the ship is attacked by pirates. Captain Jacques “Chance” Tavernier is famous for his good fortune which this time will provide the loot from the ship and the feisty Isabelle. In all honesty, I thought this book would be entertaining as soon as I read the blurb. The fact that the author decided to write a historical short including punishment, anal play and ménage was ambitious to say the least and, IMO, didn’t do anything but fill in space. The one good thing about this story is that it’s short and easy to read, but I found it lacking in a lot of ways.
2 stars *ARC was provided in exchange for an honest review*
DEBAUCHERY ON THE HIGH SEAS Once again, Zoe Blake has spun a tale, this time with lusty pirates seizing a British vessel and capturing two women, maiden Isabelle and her companion, Marina. I enjoyed A Captive by Chance. It was well written and fast paced, with a good story and HEA. It featured two women, Belle and her servant Marina, captured by pirates and their adventures as they find themselves the objects of the pirate’s desires. Belle, the heroine of the story, gets herself in a lot of trouble, constantly, and the captain of the ship, Chance, is constantly having to get her out of trouble and punish her misbehavior. The book has a lot of sex, spanking and adventures, and was fun to read.
4 1/2 stars ARGH what’s not to like? Being held captive by a civil, handsome, caring pirate? Belle is to be married to some stuffy Lord in England. She is kidnapped by a pirate named Chance. Her maidhood is taken, but in the interim she falls in love with her pirate. Chance and his first mates know how to love and discipline their women. It is a nice naughty romp. It has a happy ending.
This is a re-release and I bought and read it before. I re-read it again when I received the ARC. So smexy!! Loved Chance and his seductive, alpha ways. Belle fights her attraction to bad boy pirate Chance. I love their chemistry and the story is pretty darn good too!! 😋 I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
I like reading pirate stories, about a handsome, strong Captain, who is able to control a woman, who is a spitfire. Chance, the pirate kidnaps Belle and she's a lot of work, but he knows what he's doing. A lot of sex described explicitly, and spankings. This is a fast read, I enjoyed it. Captive by Zoe Blake was a quick fun read. I enjoyed this pirate story. It was steamy and erotic and the storyline kept me hooked until the end. Belle and Chance were both headstrong and had great chemistry. I also loved the sub-plot with the secondary character Marina, Gregor and Drake. This MFM pairing was also very steamy. Best of all I absolutely loved the ending. This was a good read.
This was a delightful and Well written book. Sexy pirates who are not quite what you see, a feisty sassy young lady with a frightened young maid. Will she fight him or give in. Will they fall in love? Spanking, hot sex and romance.
I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy for an honest review. What a lovely, engaging tale of pirates and love! I thoroughly enjoyed this story! It is well written, with wonderfully interesting and well developed characters and plot. I highly recommend it!
A great story. Thoroughly enjoyed the writing style and the plot was excellent, the ending somewhat of a surprise and done very well. Belle and Chance are intriguing and have a fabulous connection. Even the secondary characters are well developed. Don’t miss this newest book from Zoe Blake.
What started out as a dark capture and claim story, quickly turned into a fun and sexy pirate adventure. I loved the characters, loved the debauchery. It's definitely a book worth reading.
I LOVE ZOE BLAKE!!!! Seriously love her writing and her plot-lines. Captive was no different. This was a Wonderful pirate and captive story with a happy ending. Lots of spankings that are in true Zoe Blake style.
This is a well written Pirate story which a dashing Pirate and the feisty but innocent maiden. I really enjoyed reading about Marina’s adventures with her two pirates. The punishments scenes were nothing but inventive.
Downside of the book. it was to short. i wanted more.
What a great book! I was hooked from page one and read it straight through! Pirates, adventure, suspense, danger, romance and a whole lotta steam, whew!! Loved it!
It was an okay book, but there were some parts that seemed immature? Like it made me stop and go "what?" Also, the love (not really) seemed very forced and not something that you would fall in love with. I don't know. I'm happy it's over.
