Reapers MC #6.6

Rome's Chance

Rate this book
From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Joanna Wylde comes a new story in her Reapers MC series…

Rome McGuire knew he was in trouble the first time he saw her.

She was sweet and pretty and just about perfect in every way. She was also too young and innocent for the Reapers Motorcycle Club. He did the right thing, and walked away.

The second time, he couldn’t resist tasting her.

Gorgeous and smart, fun and full of wonder, she jumped on his bike and would’ve followed him anywhere. Still, she deserved a shot at happiness somewhere bigger and better than a town like Hallies Falls. Walking away wasn’t so easy that time, but her family needed her and he had a job to do.

When she came around a third time, he’d had enough. Randi Whittaker had been given two chances to escape, and now it was time for Rome to take his.

This time, the only way Randi would be leaving Hallies Falls was on the back of Rome’s bike.

**Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you'll enjoy each one as much as we do.**

It's been a while since I've been immersed into Joanna Wylde's MC world. I was thrilled when I saw a new Reaper's book was being released, and even happier when I saw it was Rome and Randi's story. I remember shipping them in Reaper's Fire and now that they're a bit older and some time has passed, they have their own novella. YAY!

Rome McGuire had it bad the moment he first laid eyes on Randi Whittaker. At the time, Randi was too young, too innocent for a biker's world. Now she is back in Hallie's Fall for her 10 year high school reunion and things have changed for them. Now that Rome sees her back and grown up, he won't let this chance pass him by.

I loved Rome and Randi! They had such great chemistry and I adored them together. I also loved their interactions with Randi's younger sister. She was a hoot. This novella packed a lot for such a short story. It had steam, action, and also more feels than I was expecting! I recommend this to all fans of the Reaper's, it's a real treat! And for those who haven't read a Reaper's book, it can be read as a stand-alone.

I can’t believe we are already up to the eighth book in the ”Reapers MC” series, but I’m not going to lie, I hope it goes on indefinitely. I’ve said it before and it’s true, this is one of my top favorite MC series. Horse and Picnic are still my most beloved Reapers but Rome McGuire definitely had the sexy alpha male attitude going for him. I enjoyed his and Randi’s steamy love affair. This was very different from the other books in the series in that the main focus was on the Hero and Heroine’s romance mixed in with some family drama with minimal interaction with the other Reapers.

Randi Whittaker is back home after having left eight years ago when the wildfires forced her to evacuate and start her life over in a new town. She’s visiting her mother who has been ill and checking up on her younger sister and brother. She wasn’t expecting to run into Rome McGuire, who she had only dated once before she had to leave town, but who has never left her thoughts in all that time.

Rome hasn’t been able to forget about Randi as well. He felt something real with her that he’s never experienced with any other woman before and now that she’s back in town, he’s making it known in no uncertain terms that he’s staking his claim. Randi has a lot going on with her family and the stress of it all causes her to try and push Rome away, but she’s no match for his determination.

Can Rome convince Randi to take a leap of faith with him?

Here are my overall ratings:

Hero: 4.5
Heroine: 4
Plot: 4
Angst: 3
Steam: 4
Chemistry Between Hero & Heroine: 4

I feel like it's been forever since I read a new Reaper story so I was very excited to get my hands on Rome. His story was short but super sweet with some emotional scenes thrown in. I think Joanna did a brilliant job featuring so many different feelings in one short story. It was very well written so it never felt like too much and instead everything added together to make a very intriguing book.

I really enjoyed getting to see Rome and Randi together and thought they had amazing chemistry. I liked that Rome didn't let Randi give up on him and he was the perfect mix of possessive but understanding. Overall, this is a book I would recommend for anyone wanting to dip their toe into the MC genre.

Wished it were longer!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙
Romance: 💚🖤💙💜
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘📔
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏
Character development: 😌😎🙃😮😍

The heroine: Randi Whittaker - a dental hygienist, she is back in Hallies Falls for her 10 year reunion. She moved away from town after wildfires swept through the region and stayed away for college and a job even after her family moved back.

The Hero(es): Rome McGuire - An EMT, a motorcycle restoration specialist and a member of the Reapers MC. Rome is a both a nice guy and a bad boy. He fell for Randi when she was young but she was innocent and naïve and spent most of her time taking care of her younger siblings, so they never became anything.

The Story: Randi runs into Rome at the grocery store after returning home. They go on a date which ends badly. Randi is determined not to date Rome again despite it not being her fault. Things are made worse when she goes home to find her mom is sick, constantly high and not taking proper care of her younger sister and brother. Randi realizes that her siblings need her long term so she applies for a job in town.

The book was told in dual points of view and done with dual narration. Narrators Tatiana Sokolov and Sean Crisden did a good job. Tatiana is great with putting emotions into her voice and is more a voice actor than a narrator. Sean Crisden has a nice deep voice which was perfect for Rome. The book was just on the edge of being an MC romance. Rome is a member of the Reapers and he did get in a fight with other reapers in the local bar, but there were no scenes of the MC or the clubhouse or anything like that. The story was good but I wished it were longer. There could have been more romance and steam.

Rome's Chance is a Reapers Novella in the Dark Nights Series. It has been a while since I have dived deep into the Reapers World and once again Joanna Wylde did not disappoint. She has crafted a world with complex characters living a real-life and learning to survive with the help and love of the club. Randi has returned home to Hallies Falls for her high school reunion. She never anticipated the mess her family was in nor did she expect to reunite with Rome, a hot alpha MC MAN (and the one who got away). Rome and Randi have much to overcome but now they finally have the chance to be together. Rome isn't willing to let her get away this time.

Overall, Rome's Chance will appeal to readers who love a good MC Romance. If you are looking for a taste of the Reapers MC then look no further. I definitely look forward to more Reaper action to come!

This isn’t about getting laid, Randi. I just want it clear—I’m staking my claim. I missed out the first time we met. I won’t let it happen again.”

Man but does it feel good to be back in Wylde's Reapers MC world. And while this novella is set in the series, you can easily read it as a standalone. While you do see some cameos from earlier books, it's not too engrained in the the MC world, so you don't miss many nuances not having read the books. Though, I'd still highly recommend them simply because they're awesome! But I digress.

Rome's Chance is set several years after the events in Reaper's Fire. The first time Randi and Rome meet, he was only a prospect for the club and she was too sweet and innocent for him. The fires tearing through their town took the majority of his attention. But when they run into each other again, he knows he's not letting her a second time. He's ready to stake his claim, whether she is or not.
Chemistry. Pure chemistry. I’d felt it when he’d kissed me. I’d known we’d be incredible together. But Rome wanted more than sex—he wanted me. Whatever this was, it was just the beginning.

Randi has always been the caretaker of her family. With a mother that never took her responsibilities seriously, she's been taking care of her younger siblings. Now back in town to take care of her ailing mother, she doesn't think she'll be sticking around for long. But Rome changes everything. Even if she tries to fight things between them.

Rome's Chance was a quick albeit an entirely satisfying read full of chemistry and heat. It hit the spot just write and whet my appetite for more Reapers. If you're looking for a sexy novella to spend a weekend afternoon with, look no further!

Rome is my new favorite Reaper! What a sweetheart! I fell for him immediately and love him still.

I’m a huge fans of 1001 Dark Nights novellas! They’re always a good time and Rome’s Chance is no different. It’s fun, engaging, and while sweeter than previous Reapers MV Books, it certainly hit the spot.

Randi and Rome’s shared history and chance meeting rekindles an old flame. He knows what he wants and will stop at nothing to get. I’m always looking for those alphas who is afraid to stake a claim, but aLso knows when to back off. That’s Rome! Sheer perfection!

The storyline is great, the characters are well developed, but I did get tripped up. Little by Randi’s characters. She was to callous a couple time with Rome. I wasn’t a fan. While it served to make him look even more perfect, Randi’s character suffers as a result. Not so much that I disliked her. Overall this is a solid 4 STARS .

It must be an art to make a novella feel like a complete full length novel and Joanna Wylde did just that with this one. I am a huge Reapers MC fan but Rome's story can be read as a standalone.

Rome is my kind of alpha male. Possessive but gentle. Domineering but kind hearted. He was a sexy biker who was determined to make Randi his girl. He made her slip away before but not again. She never stood a chance. The sexual tension was off the charts but it never overshadowed the emotional connection these two also formed.

On top of being a sexy biker romance, this book was also about family. Randi goes through a lot and there is tragedy in this book. I loved how Rome stood by and supported Randi and her family. He had such a good heart and this tough biker was the ultimate good guy.

I loved the cameos from characters from the other books and this was a nice revisit into the Reapers world.

It has been a while since I read the last Reaper's book. It took me by surprise that Gage is the current president. I had forgotten it. For me, it was still Picnic. Anyway, I was happy to be back in this MC world. I have missed it.

Rome McGuire is an EMT but he's also part of the Reapers. He likes to ride and enjoys spending time with his brothers. They have been there for him and he will be there for them too, no matter what. As for his female company, he could have plenty but now that Randi is back in town, she's the only female he's interested in. He let her go once. Almost a decade later, he's ready to make her stay this time.

Randi Whittaker is back in Hallies Falls for her high school reunion. She's also spending time with her two siblings and her mother. Her mother is unable to work any longer. She's disabled and Randi is worrying about the future of Lexi and Kayden. Randi's considering taking a job locally and helping her family out. She's also very attracted to Rome and walking away from him again could be the hardest thing she has to do.

I like both Rome and Randi. I could feel their desire for each other. They had a connection which began years ago (Reaper's Fire) until Randi's family moved away. This is their second chance to get it right. Of course, there are other things to consider, like her family, finding a job, dealing with Rome being part of an MC. There were all valid reasons for Randi to worry. Rome was very understanding and he stole my heart right away.

The one thing different in this novella is that there isn't much drama or conflict. I was expecting more trouble.

For any fans of the Reapers series, you can't pass up Rome's Chance. It's short, fast-paced and engaging.

Cliffhanger: No

NA at its worst: giggling, complete idiocy and wet pants.
I can't believe she wrote this drivel. Even if short I had to force myself to keep on reading, I wanted to DNF it every few paragraphs.
It touched some heavy moments in the last few chapters, but it never recovered for me. No way to recover from this kind of idiotic characters/plot. I didn't enjoy the misogyny either, even if unwanted or unintended.
But if a girl has to watch out what she eats because it is a date, it's a story I don't want to read. Yes, in real life it's pretty common and that is why I don't care reading about it.

4+ "Patience" Stars!

This story was surprisingly more emotional than I anticipated. Rome was a real sweetheart and Randi seemed like a real person. The reactions to her situations seemed very realistic. Ms. Wylde packed a punch in these few pages. I liked it a lot. Much better than your average novella. Happy reading!
April 19, 2018
I reallllllllly liked this novella. Calling Rome's Chance a second chance romance doesn't feel right to me. This is more a story about two people finally getting it right when the time is just right. While Rome and Randi may have had some close calls over the years, things finally come together in this novella and it was sexy and romantic and full of side drama. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

This was a really fun read, what with the first date and the bar brawl and the dance floor steam. The build up of this sensual story is just delicious. But it's also a story full of tragedy and heartache that really stings. It's a novella packed with steamy scenes and dramatic twists and it held me tightly in its snare the whole way through.

Rome is EVERYTHING. He's a biker but he's also an EMT! So yum. But there's not a lot of biker drama in this story. Randi deals with more chaos in her personal life than Rome does, while Rome focuses primarily on this woman, on trying to get her to take a chance on them while she's so distracted by all the other stuff happening around her. This story is messy and sexy and I just really, really liked it. The push and pull is juicy, the story is steamy and rife with familial drama, and our hero is this strong, determined kind of biker that I just adored. Whether you're a devout Reaper fan or not, this novella can be read as a complete standalone. Rome's Chance is a yummy quick read that I devoured in one sitting and one that I really enjoyed.

Rome’s Chance was the sixth.six book in Joanna Wylde’s Reaper’s MC series. It was a novella that could be read as a standalone but was associated with Reaper’s Fire, book six.

Rome McGuire was a patched member of the MC as well as an EMT. He was gorgeous, sexy, alpha, confident and loyal.

Randi Whittaker had fled Hallies Falls when the fires mandated them to evacuate eight years ago. Her family moved back several years ago but she stayed away, choosing to build her life elsewhere. She was back for her high school reunion and bumped into Rome.

Rome’s Chance was a short novella that focused around Rome and Randi having a second chance. It also highlighted Randi’s family and the baggage it brought. I liked Rome, but I wasn’t a fan of Randi, so it wasn’t my favorite story in the series. Additionally, the MC was in the background and only referenced. I would have loved to have them meshed more into the storyline.

All in all, it was well written for a novella. Hopefully it will be a springboard for more in the series from the Hallies Falls MC chapter.

Well somehow I picked up a contemporary romance book here and not a biker book. I expected badass biker wild times. I got a phoned in book that seems to be a recycling of every stupid Disney Princess writer book I’ve ever read. (Looking at you Belle Aurora and ARR) Now this author’s first biker book was phenomenal, then they slowly went downhill and into a ditch. But then the author put out Shades lady and five star fooled me into thinking this one would be great too! Nope! Rome is a super sweet fantastic guy. But I just was expecting biker so......yeah no. I swear I’ve read this storyline here 💯 times in other books. I’m sure a lot of people will like it though. My bar was set too high. I’ll just keep dreaming of another 🐎

It's no secret that i'm a huge 1001 Dark Nights fan. Why? Because they give you the chance to discover a new author without having to run around and find them (that might sound callous but totally wasn't the goal). It's through this series that i discover Joanna Wylde and her Reapers MC series. Sadly, i haven't had a chance to read all of the previous instalments and my only experience with this series is through a previous 1001 Dark Nights novella that had me reading Shade's Lady.

Considering my limited knowledge of this series, i was going in this book with an open mind, knowing that i wouldn't understand everything that was discussed. It was truly a surprise to realize that i wasn't as lost as i would have originally imagined. It wasn't a very long book either, so it did give me a better over view of what the series is like (in addition to Shade's Lady that i read in the past), and it made me very curious to find out what the full length novels look like.

I really do enjoy this author's way of writing her stories - they are entertaining and never fail to keep me engaged and to want to keep finding out what'll happen next. There is one thing that is for certain - i will be looking forward to catching up to this series in the near future!

My least favorite of the series.
Just way too much YA/NA angsty drama. To much 'Woe is me' from both Mel and Rome.
They drove me nuts.

Then there is the lack of any details about the suspense going on with Gage and Rome. It was jumpy at best.

I hated what happened with Duck and quite frankly, I didn't think that it fit his personality to fall for Talia's 'Disguise'.

There were just tons of things in this one that bothered me.

I read the last sentence of the book and said “Awww. That was so sweet!” Just like with Shade’s Lady, although there was some brawling, this was a mushy gushy relationship driven romance, and I liked it. Although a little more action and grit wouldn’t have gone unappreciated, it was great just as it was.

Rome had wanted Randi for a long time but fate stepped in via the fires of eight years ago (the ones showcased in Reaper’s Fire) when Randi’s family evacuated. After a few years, her family moved back but she didn’t.

Back for her high school reunion, she realizes her mother is in a bad way, which means her younger siblings are in a worse way. Things had never been great at home and as the eldest of 5 kids, Randi had always taken on the parental role. She had thought her mother was doing fine so she could finally live her own life but that is not the case. This meant she had some difficult decisions to make.

I really liked Randi but I thought she was too forgiving of her mother. That being said she did finally get tough with her but in the back of my mind, I was thinking too little, too late. Other than that, Randi was loving, caring, and extremely responsible and I liked her with Rome.

Rome was absolutely perfect. So much so, I wanted to breathe life into him and keep him (after magically making myself twenty years younger). Seeing as how I’m happily married to the love of my life, this tells you how much I loved Rome. He was the type of guy I like to call alpha-sweet. Which is what I call my husband…hmmm…there may be a reason I loved Rome. Anyway, he was patient, caring, only being stubborn when it was important, and he’s a Reaper so you know he can kick ass when it needs to be done.

After the first worst date in history, or maybe the second since they had gone on one date right before all hell broke loose eight years before, Randi wasn’t really sure about dating Rome at all. You can add perseverance to Rome’s very long list of qualities because he did not give up. This is good because when tragedy struck and Randi needed Rome, he was right where he needed to be.

This was a sweet, sexy, funny, slightly emotional read that I thoroughly enjoyed. I just wish it wasn’t so short so we could have gotten more of the life after tragedy portion of the story. I wanted front row seats to how Rome and the Reapers helped put Randi and her little family back together. But that’s how I usually am after a Reapers story: happy but wanting more.

"Rome would just have to go down in history as the one who got away twice."

I'm totally diggin' these 1001 Dark Nights books. If you have never read an author before, these short standalones are a perfect way to get a taste of their work. Or, if like me, you are already a fan of an author's work, you'll be doing a 'happy dance' when you see Joanna Wylde on the cover of one of these beauties. I fell hard for her Reapers MC series a long time ago and just seeing that name brings a smile to my face.

Please don't assume that when I say 'short' that you aren't getting a full story, because you are. I am still shaking my head in amazement that the author was able to give me so much story using so few words. I didn't feel like anything was missing as she took me from start to finish, checking all my boxes, while leaving me very satisfied and more addicted to the Reapers than I was before.

Since the author chose not to disclose the particulars in the synopsis, I'll keep the details to myself. But I can tell you even though she walked away from him, twice, it was never for lack of chemistry. They had plenty of that from their very first glance at each other. My brain might've decided he was a mistake, but my body wasn't quite there yet." Which would win, her brain or her body?

Let me tell you, the struggle was real. He wanted her and made no secret of it. How long could she hold out when she looked at him "like a delicious cupcake just waiting for me to lick off all the frosting..."? I confess, I was no help at all, I was mentally encouraging her to go for it and give Rome a chance. I wanted them to quit fighting it and allow their chemistry to combust. I have a backup Kindle, so I wasn't worried about my reading device melting. I was ready to embrace the heat while being a virtual voyeur. Yeah, Joanna Wylde never disappoints in that department. Actually, she's never disappointed me at all, being one of my auto-click authors. I'm looking forward to seeing her name on another cover soon. The line forms here...

I love these 1001 Dark Nights stories because it feels like I’m reading a full length novel but it is all packed into a novella sized story. This was set eight years after Shade’s Lady and is about Rome & Randi.

Randi has returned to Hallies Falls for her high school reunion. She knew that things at home were probably a bit tough on her younger siblings with their mum but she had no idea just how bad things had now become for them. She feels guilty about leaving and pursuing her own life when they really needed her support.

She didn’t expect to cross paths with Rome McGuire again. It’s been eight years since she last saw him. Randi hasn’t forgotten that one night she threw caution to the wind, jumped on the back of his bike and felt the wind in her hair. He is a very different man now, he is freaking gorgeous and he is also a member of the Reaper’s MC. He is everything she doesn’t need in her life, she really should run away in the opposite direction.

Rome is very happy when he runs into Randi, that sweet shy girl he remembers has grown into a beautiful woman and he plans to do anything he can to get to know her again. All of his brothers are settling down and getting married, he has been thinking that it’s time he starts thinking about doing the same. He has a good job, his own home and ready to make a life with someone special.

Randi has stuff going on in her family home that she really needs to sort out before she can even think of leaving again. Rome seems to be hell bent on pursuing something with her too. This was supposed to be a fleeting weekend return home and nothing more but since she got back she finds herself reconsidering her plans and maybe giving Rome a chance…

‘I’d forgotten how much I loved the wind rushing by, and the way the road opened up in front of us. It felt like freedom – the chance to experience something new and undiscovered.’

"It's been a long time since I came around
Been a long time but I'm back in town
And this time I'm not leaving without you"

Gaga's lyrics apply both to this book and Joanna Wylde books and to me reading them. It's been a while. Damn, this was no bueno. The hero is fine. But the heroine oh boy she is everything that I don't like in a girls-women in general. Idiotic. Indecisive. Shy, but then suddenly not really. Giggling fool.

In the name of this being novella, I guess the author had to sacrifice a lot of development. In both characters and their love story. Also, nothing about the Reapers.

I almost DNF. Almost. I'm too stubborn to quit. I could live without reading this.

Meh. It's a novella so there's only so much that can happen and some development has to be sacrificed. In this case, I think it was Rome, and the relationship of Rome and Randi. Really, this could've been titled Randi's Chance.

It wasn't bad. It was a fairly well-rounded story for it being on the shorter side. It was just a story about Randi though.

The title has Rome's name in it, and he was kind of an afterthought. When you did get to experience their romance it was still a little non-existent. Randi was very back and forth on them as a couple and you didn't get to read any of the falling in love bit.

I do like this series. But it didn't really fit in. It definitely is a true standalone. I feel like this author's other works are a bit grittier, sexier, and overall have more of a motorcycle club vibe.

Again, it wasn't bad. I definitely think I had high expectations. It just, um, needed more Rome....and romance.

I really enjoyed this story and for me it was a great addition to the Reapers MC Series. Rome and Randi had one date several years earlier then fires came and destroyed most of the small town they lived in so Randi and her family had fled the area and hadn't returned until now. A chance meeting in a grocery store and date two was arraigned. I must admit that I really loved these two together and I'm thrilled they were able to get a second chance.

4 stars!

This was a really sweet, fun and sexy read. A part of the Reapers MC series, this novella can easily stand alone, and I loved it.

It’s been eight years in the Reapers' world since the last book, eight years since Randi Whittaker left her home town after a devastating wildfire, and eight years since she saw Rome McGuire. She’s back for her ten year high school reunion, but also to check in with her unwell mother and her two youngest siblings. And when she unexpectedly runs into Rome, her trip is about to get a whole lot more interesting.

Rome is a member of the Reapers' MC, and he’s seriously happy that Randi is back in town. They knew each other years ago and only got to go on one date before she left town, but she left her mark on him and he’s never forgotten about her or their time together. Now she’s back, and Rome has no intention of letting her go again.

“This isn’t about getting laid, Randi. I just want it clear – I’m staking my claim. I missed out the first time we met. I won’t let it happen again.”

It’s by no means a unique set up, but it’s just so well done! Even though it was brief, Rome and Randi had something special once, and watching them rediscover all of that is so much fun. They are open with each other, the chemistry sizzles and the sexual tension is there from the very beginning. Rome’s sweet determination is fantastic, and his complete lack of filter is mildly outrageous but lots of fun, and underneath his epic sexiness, he has a huge heart, and he’s so gorgeous.

But Randi is only in town for a little while, and while she’s there she’s got some pretty serious things confronting her. How will they deal with their reunion? And will they ever get a true shot at the second chance they both want so badly?

I loved this story. It sucked me straight in, and it moves at a great pace, keeping me fully invested as Rome and Randi’s story unfolds. It’s sweet, sexy and fun with an unexpected storyline, and it’s a great read.

4 stars.

5 Star Review Rome’s Chance (Reapers MC #6.6) by Joanna Wylde
I am a big fan of Joanna Wylde and her Reaper MC series. This is book 6.6 in the series and is one of my favourite MC series of all time. As with all the previous books in this series, Rome’s Chance was gritty, realistic and extremely well written.
This is Rome McGuire and Randi Whittaker’s story. Every time I read a Reaper MC book, I fall more in love with Ms.Wylde’s books. Her characters are always strong, the women feisty and the men so darn Alpha it almost hurts. They love hard, play hard and there is just something about these men and their women that ticks all the boxes for
Rome is a typical Reaper MC, gritty, raw and swoon worthy. When Rome re connects with Randi when she returns to Hallies Falls, he sets his sights on her, regardless of how Randi feels.
There was drama, suspense, hot and heavy scenes and so much build up that I was totally engrossed from the start. This is one heck of a roller coaster read to be honest and I found myself both happy and sad on occasion.
My only issue was that this book was not long enough, I never want a Reapers MC story to end and this one is a novella so I just wanted more.
The Reaper’s MC will always hold a special place in my heart as they were my very first MC series. I love coming back to them and I cannot wait for the next book in the series.

FTC DISCLAIMER: I RECEIVED AN E-ARC FROM THE PUBLISHER THROUGH INKSLINGER PR. I VOLUNTARILY OFFER MY HONEST REVIEW OF THE BOOK, THOUGH IT IS NOT EXPECTED OF ME! RECEIPT OF THIS BOOK IN THIS MANNER DOES NOT AFFECT MY OPINION OF THE BOOK OR THE CONTENT OF MY REVIEW!

It has been quite a while since I read Reaper's Fire, so having this book be based on secondary characters from that story left me feeling quite lost. If I ignored that, then this book was actually rather enjoyable, up until the ending.

I liked that most of the romance wasn't about them just jumping into bed together, but rather the chase to one or two enjoyable sessions. I thought it was more realistic, due to the nature of the relationship (or lack thereof) between Randi and Rome. I liked how these two were reunited after several years apart and it was like riding a bike between them, because it reminded me of my own relationship with my high school sweetheart.

I felt that all the characters were believable and realistic, and especially enjoyed the facets that made up Randi. I would have liked more in depth with Rome, as we don't get a lot of what makes him up, just one or two facts and a tragedy.

Unfortunately, I felt that the ending was a bit rushed. The story is be-bop-ing along, then we get sucker punched by a twist, then it cuts to an epilogue where everything is just summed up. It felt rather anti-climactic after all the build up to the sexy times.

I think it is definitely worth a read, preferably right after reading Reaper's Fire, so that everything from that book is fresh in your mind when you read this one.

I am still loving the hell out of Joanna Wylde's Reapers MC series! When I found out she was writing another novella I was over the moon. When I found out she was writing Rome's story, I'll admit, there was a little fangirl screaming going on, I won't deny it.

Rome's chance seems like a second chance romance, but that's not what I'd call it. I'd say these two just took a really long pause in a relationship that, as it was, was already so completely new to them.

From the very first moment, Randi and Rome's chemistry is undeniable. I had high hopes for these two and I'm so freaking happy with the outcome.

Randi is a stubborn woman who doesn't want to get her heart broke. She's also the main supporter to her two youngest siblings, due to her mother being careless. Randi's situation, god honest truth, broke my heart. I felt her pain way down deep in my bones. Wanting a life of her own but knowing she can never have that, with being the oldest, is a hard row to hoe.

I knew Rome was going to be a big softie when it came to Randi, I didn't realize this man was so damn sweet and caring though!! He was much more than what I expected!

Overall, If you all loved the Reaper's MC series then definitely pick up Rome's Chance. It may only be a novella but I have to say, this love story is pretty epic. It has everything I could have asked for. angst, hot sexy times, and a great storyline that kept me up half the night!
