ANDY - I got a job next door to a tattooed biker named Baker. He was an outlaw, a criminal, a biker, a bad boy, and a thief. I should have run as far and fast as I could. Instead, on the day we met, I let him have his way with me. I couldn't help myself. His intensity and swagger lured me, but it was the crazy sex that kept me coming back, day after day.

His sordid ways scared me, but I simply couldn't stay away...

BAKER - When she moved in next door, I knew I was in trouble. She was sexy. She was irresistible. She had spunk. She was also the manager of a bank my MC robbed six months prior. She didn't recognize me, because we wore masks during the robbery. If she ever found out who I really was, there would be hell to pay.

It would be nothing like the hell I'd be living in if my MC found out I was fucking her.

We'd issued an order to kill her on sight. She was off-limits if anyone ever was.

So far, the men in the MC hadn't seen her. But, I couldn't keep her hidden forever.

"And, at that moment, on Christmas morning, our forever began."
description

Baker is the first book in a new and exciting MC Series by Scott Hildreth. The Devil's Disciples are a different breed of bikers and their presence exudes a fierce loyalty to their brotherhood and a commitment to living life to its fullest.

description
"Lay your head here."
Baker is the president of the Devil's Disciples. He lives his life on the edge and his club lives under the radar of the norms of any MC Club known to men. Baker and his band of brothers are professional criminals who strive to win the prize without anyone getting hurt. When a bank robbery goes wrong and an innocent woman is put in danger, Baker and his club are put on high alert. When the young woman relocates right next door to Baker's home and the clubhouse, Baker's worst fears become a reality as her life is now in danger. Andy is completely unaware of the club and the way in which they have collided with her life. After losing her job at the bank, she is simply looking for a fresh start in a new town. When Baker and Andy meet, all sense of playing it safe is thrown at the window. Baker and Andy share an intense connection and they are immediately drawn to each other. As Baker and Andy grow closer, Baker is torn between his newfound attraction to Andy and his fears for the club and his brothers. When love and loyalty are on the line, Baker will do whatever it takes to make things right.

description
"There was nothing wrong.
Everything, on that night, was right."
Told in dual POV, Baker offers a perfect blend of action, intrigue, passion, and a tender romance. Baker is a complex character who has found balance in getting what he wants and then giving back to make the world a better place. Andy has experienced great loss in her life and yet, she has been able to overcome those obstacles and managed to find her way. When Baker enters her life, she is initially fearful of forming an intimate connection with him and yet, Baker manages to break through her barriers and will not stop until he makes her his. Baker is quite the swoon-worthy hero. He is stylish, wealthy, passionate, and ruthless about protecting the ones he loves. Baker's brothers are each unique and certainly, offer a promise of more greatness to come. The tempo of the writing naturally flows as the relationships between the characters move and transform. Beneath the action and intrigue exist a beautiful love story between a man and a woman.

I have long been a fan of Scott Hildreth's work and Devil's Disciples is a new club with new characters and a completely different world to explore. Baker is a stunning start to this series and with action, passion, and suspense I am certainly excited for what is to come! Hildreth is a fantastic storyteller who explores real people living in real circumstances and this is one read you do not want to miss!

Imagine this:

You're the president of a motorcycle club that flies under the radar. Instead of leather vests that advertise your club's existence to every onlooker that passes you on the road, your members have the club's colors tattooed on their backs.

It's a lifetime commitment, and one you don't take lightly. You're a small close-knit bunch that have been friends since childhood.

And, you're professional criminals.

A recent bank robbery goes awry, and the bank manager almost gets killed. The bank in question is 150 miles away, and your club was wearing masks. The odds of encountering anyone from the botched robbery are zero.

Six months later, some sexy woman goes to work next door to your clubhouse. After seeing her through the window, you go investigate, only to find out it's the bank manager. She doesn't recognise you (because you were wearing a mask), but you recognise her.

There's an undeniable sexual draw when you 'meet' that day. In a moment of weakness, you end up fucking her senseless, right there at her place of work. If the club finds out, you're toast.

As long as it's a one-time thing, nobody will know.

After the third or fourth time of sneaking out fo the clubhouse to see her, you realize there's a problem. A BIG problem.

This is BAKER, Book I of the Devil's Disciples Books. Each is a stand-alone, telling the story of one of the members of the club. Book I is the president, Baker's, book.

It's a fast-paced, sexy, action-packed tale of brotherhood, sacrifice, loss, commitment, and, eventually, love.

I couldnt put this book down. Each MC series this author writes gets better, and this book has set an entirely new standard. A fresh story, superb writing style, and a manner of flow that causes this to be a page-flipper that you won't put down until you're done. If you're one who doesn't like MC Romance, you need to try this author's MC Romance anyway. It's unlike any you've read or will read, guaranteed.

Be forewarned: the sex comes early in the relationship, but it is far from insta-love. Hell, it isnt even insta-like. It's juts animal magnetism.

On a grand scale.

I give this one 5 BIG Biker stars.

Must read if there eever was one.

Not feeling it at all. I even fall asleep listening to the audiobook. I am also can not connect with the hero whom I think is not manly enough.

The plot and story is also not progressing with something interesting. The characters seem to compare/ brag about the sexual experience too much.

Bem, temos aqui comentários interessantes sobre mulheres brasileiras...

Exemplos:

1-

“It ain’t voodoo pussy, dip shit. She’s Brazilian.” I looked at him as if he were crazy. “What?” “Brazilian. You know, from Brazil. They’ve all got wolf eyes, small waists, big asses, curly brown hair, tiny pussies, and big tempers. Best sex on the planet is a Brazilian bitch. Looks like you ran into one.”

2-

“Brazilian bitches are good pussy, but they’re crazy.”

3-

“The last thing I needed was to be on the shit list of a Brazilian woman with an explosive temper.”

Então, “me desculpe”, “querido autor” se não vi humor ou me senti lisonjeada quando li esses tipos de comentários em seu livro, que a propósito, eu MULHER BRASILEIRA achei totalmente sem noção!!!

Generally I liked it. It started out great, and there were some HOT moments, and a bit of suspense ,but the ending felt a little rushed. I also think it could’ve been developed a bit more.

It also left me hanging on one point...but that’s a spoiler. Maybe it will be addressed in the next book.
Not as good for me as The Filthy F***ers series—which I LOVED—but I see the potential here.

Looking forward to the next book. Seems like there are some interesting characters besides Baker in the Devil’s Disciples MC club.

HMMMMMM….
I am sitting here at my computer trying to figure out how to express what I am feeling about this book. And what comes to mind is building a puzzle…. Yep, a huge 1000 piece puzzle. I have a system when I do puzzles, I sort, separate, and section off pieces until needed. Baker by Scott Hildreth for me was like putting a puzzle together.
Only problem for this puzzle master was that Mr. Hildreth kept the “picture” of what the puzzle should be to himself. *wink*

The story of Baker grab me from page one and I started to plot out how it was going to fit it together, and I planned on how I would separated the characters into who I thought they were.
The pages are quickly turning.
• I am intrigued.
• I am laughing.
• I am really enjoying this story,
AND THEN
• SH#T this piece doesn’t fit!!!!
• DA&MN now what???
• Wait, maybe if I turn it….
• F$@K still does fit!!!!
• I guess I need more information
• I guess I have to keep reading
• Turns pages even faster.

The above was the norm for this amazing novel, LOL – it happened to this reader all through-out the book. Which, for me, added tremendous depth and weight to this romance novel. I felt what Mr. Hildreth was able to do was add that layer of mystery, that level of fascination, and of course the heart warming tier of love, to keep this reader on the edge of her seat.

The characters in this book will steal your heart, my advice to you is to go in with an open mind, and keep that philosophy through out the entire novel, PLEASE do not try and force these “puzzle pieces” into the story you have in your mind, it will not work…. psst, I know of what I speak.

Trust the author, and let everyone from Baker, to Andy, to Mr. Greene, to Holly, and to Goose (melt) just to name a few, be who they are. Sit back grab your copy of this amazing novel and ENJOY the discovery of the soon to be new Hildreth favorite. I promise you will not be disappointed. I wasn’t, *grabbing my kindle to start over*!!!! Excellent Job, Mr. Hildreth, I can't wait for next book. That is it, that is all I got….

In typical Scott Hildreth style he takes you on the wildest rides. However, if you are expecting a traditional biker book then be ready to be amazed cause you won't find that here. This isn't a large group of men, this is a group of 6 friends, more so BROTHERS to core.

You won't here about the club whores, the kutes, the outrageous parties, or the bar fights. Take everything you thought you knew about an MC and throw it out the window. This author has stepped up the game in the MC world and I gotta say I LOVED IT!!!

You can tell he's put his all in this book about Baker, the President of the Devils Deciples and his meeting of Andy the property manager from the building next door. I loved Andy and how bold and brash she is and she doesn't apologize for it either. Take her or leave her she doesn't need a man to take care of her nor does she want one. She's more than okay with an afternoon delight 😁😁.

With the brief glance we get of the guys in the MC I have already decided I need to know more about all of them. As we know looks can be deceiving and there's always so much more to the story once we get a good look at them.

I can't wait to travel along with this MC and see what happens as the story unfolds right before our eyes. Once again this author hit a grand slam and I can't wait to see what more he has in store for us.

WOW!!!!

This book is AMAZING!

Baker knocked my socks off! I am a huge fan of Scott Hildreth and I was looking forward to this new series. Baker had some really big shoes to fill. I love this book. Within the first couple of chapters, I was laughing out loud.

The Devil’s Disciples are not your average MC Club. They are a 1% Club, but do not conform to the normal rules. This makes them absolutely perfect. Andy’s character is great. She had me rolling. Baker is unique and sexy AF. I am in the fence still with Cash, but I think I am also secretly in love with Goose and Ghost too.

This book has it all! Drama, some mystery, action, comedy, and quite a bit of scorching hot sex. I am officially in love with the Devil’s Disciples and I cannot wait to read the next book in this series!

Didn't like the main characters.

Hated that they had unprotected sex right after meeting, without even knowing their name. At her place of work. Really classy. What about pregnancy? Or an STD? So unromantic.

Hero didn't tell her what he and his "MC" did, aka stealing money and robbing banks.

It felt like they just wanted hot sex and the other parts of being in a relationship just didn't matter, because they weren't there.

Hero and his brothers talk about killing the Heroine, because she sabotaged one of their robberies. One of his "brothers" was so upset about her having a backbone, that he just couldn't stand it. They all talk about murdering her, like others talk about their weekend plans. Off putting.

The ending was meh. Why doesn't he want to be married? I don't get it. And there's no plan or talk about their future.

Really disappointed. Expected more. Totally safe. Heroine celibate for a time now. Hero celibate too, after being a manwhore. No separations. No ow/om drama at all.

On a scale from bullet BOB to Hitachi BOB, this book gets a Hitachi with attachments!! HOLY SHIT! This. Book. Is. HOT AS HELL!!
When we meet our heroine, Andy, she's in a hairy situation, to say the least. Andy is mouthy, sexy, and takes no shit. She's had a bad run of luck until she takes a job next door to Sex on a Stick...
Baker is everything we could possibly want in a man...he's a tattooed bad boy with a heart of gold...and he doesn't have a hot dog dick. ;) Just when we think he's completely tough-as-nails, we get to see him as he truly is--a prince among thieves.
Baker is a fast-paced ride that you definitely won't want to put down and will leave you wanting more, more, more of Baker and Andy. Hildreth's books just keep getting better and better and Baker is no exception. One-click this one RIGHT NOW!! You won't be sorry!

Amazing love story

I always love reading Scott’s books because the characters are so well developed that I feel like they are people I would love to know. Baker and Andy met with no intention of falling in love but ended up finding the love of a life time. They turned out to be perfect for each other. I love the honesty in the relationship. Though Baker has to hide some of his life from her because of the club in the end it didn’t matter. They just work as a couple. I look forward to what’s in store for the other guys and I hope there is a future story for Holly I liked her too.

Lol I feel completely Christmasy now!

Fantastic MC story with a totally different feel to his previous biker series.

Written in a way that only Scott could have written it... I love that he pen's women with such high affection and praise, he gives them strength even if life's shit on them. Plus, he writes men that I fall in love with every single time *sighs happily* no wonder he's become one of my favorite authors.

I'm seriously looking forward to the next one in the series already, Holly and Goose perhaps? Just hope it's not too long a wait!

I liked this one, but it wasn't as good as some of his others for me.

I liked Andy and her attitude, loved her first meeting with Baker and how she went for what she wanted. For most of the book I was on the fence with Baker. I hated how he tried to keep Andy a secret, sure there was a good reason, but I didn't have to like it. I would have liked to see more with Andy and the other guys in the club. I also thought Andy would have freaked out more towards the end when she saw Baker and his club doing what they do, but it was pretty glossed over.

Splendid!! I like this MC and Baker is cool.
Andy (horrible name ) is pretty straightforward. I really liked how she enjoyed the secondary characters.

I felt a little unsatisfied with the whole intruder and microphone issue not having closure.

There were many spelling errors... actually used wrong variation of "by"..."buy". I read this in a few hours but I could chart the errors if anyone wants?!!

Hell of a storyteller, Scott" I feel Elmore Leonard.

It’s time to take a ride with a brand new MC from the mind of Scott Hildreth. For those who have read Scott before, the Devil’s Disciples is like no MC he has written before . . .prepare yourselves for an entirely new type of MC brotherhood.

Andy needs a job. Having moved to San Diego to live with her cousin after being fired when she didn’t follow protocol when the bank she worked in was robbed, she’s out of money and can’t really include her last job as a reference. Things finally start looking up when she finagles herself a job as a property manager . . . especially when she lays eyes on the sexy biker who just happens to live and work in the building next to the one she manages.

President of the Devil’s Disciples, Baker is completely unprepared when he sees his new neighbor, who happens to be the sassy and smokin’ hot manager from the bank his MC robber six months ago. He knows he has to get her to quit and move away before the rest of his brothers see her, however, when their chemistry burns hot enough to set the building on fire, they end up sleeping together before they even exchange names.

Baker now needs to figure out how to reconcile Andy with his brothers . . .as he’s not willing to walk away from the one woman to ever catch his interest for more than one night. Once Andy gets to know a bit more about Baker, she has to decide if she can trust in the man he is knowing that the club isn’t always on the right side of the law.

Baker and the rest of the club are not your typical bikers. I don’t want to give anything away, but Scott has really set up a unique scenario with the Disciples that I can’t wait to watch play out through the series. Baker has a lot of baggage from his past and has trust issues with anyone but his brothers, so finding himself attracted to Andy for more than just sex is a completely new experience for him.

Andy has her trust issues as well, and for good reason. She likes Baker, but figures he will just end up disappointing her like every other man in her life ever has. When she finds out how much more to Baker there really is, she needs to do a lot of soul searching to see if she can accept all he is as well as what he and the rest of his brothers bring to the table.

As usual, Scott did an amazing job with his side characters. I loved Mort, Mr. Greene and Holly as well as the glimpses we got to see of the rest of the Disciples, especially Goose and Cash.

I’m completely intrigued and read this book pretty much in one sitting from start to finish. 4.5 stars!

There is a simplicity, disguised within a gruff and rough exterior, to Scott Hildreth's books that I just love. His characters exude a certain unique morality, within an interior set of values, that I find endearingly attractive. Baker is another one of this ilk. Not as rough as some of his other characters, he nevertheless displays the inner life I have come to love and respect in the men of which he writes. This book feels a touch more poetic than it's predecessors, but maybe that's just due to the author's own life growth. I suspect these characters all have the qualities he either has, or aspires to have, in his own life. I loved reading this book. I always enjoy immensely the way I feel when I read this author. He touches a place in me that few others do. Thanks again, Scott!

I've read many MC romances and Baker is a first for me. There's a tender almost softness to the romance that catches everyone off guard-- especially Baker and Andy. He may be the MC President, but there's many times he shocks you and almost makes you forget he's the tough biker. Then a quick reminder of his crimes or sexual dominance brings back the rougher side of his personality. Andy has been through a lot in her life, but never backs down. One of my favorite things about Scott's writing is that his heroines are never weak and stand strong for what they believe in.

A great read and I hope to read more in the series soon.

New Club, New Prez, New Style...

This review is extremely difficult for me to write...Andy and Baker took my emotions on an emotional roller coaster...this book was a total departure from previous books of Scott’s...I loved the tender side to Baker and the way he interacted with his Club...his relationships with his men went deep...watching his feelings develop for Andy, and how much she has been through...Scott always has a way of keeping me on the edge of my seat throughout the entire book...I am anxiously awaiting the next in the series...every book of Mr. Hildreth’s is a MUST BUY...

Another Hit for Hildreth

Wow Scott has done it again!!! I love reading his books and know it's great before I even get to the last page. So with this book you have Baker a president of an MC and Andy a girl who worked ata bank that Baker robbed. After months Baker sees Andy and knows he wants her . Andy meets Baker and wants a fling. What happens after a couple of times with them together? Your gonna have to read to find out.

Really flat, uninteresting & overly simplistic. It reads like an y.a. attempt to write an adult content.

This is the second book by this author I tried. Sadly he lacks skill and it shows big time. I won't be giving him another chance.

This was difficult for me, which was surprising given how readable I found the Selected Sinners series. I breezed through that series pretty fast, often times without skipping a beat. With Baker I can't remember how many times I had to put it down then circle back.

So what's the problem? Well first and foremost, Andy, the heroine. Definitely not my type of heroine. Way too promiscuous and too forward about it. I like that Hildreth's heroines are vocal in their sexuality in the bedroom (it makes the sex scenes more engaging & hot), but they don't have to be promiscuous for that sake.

Promiscuous heroines are the norm in Hildreth's MC world, however, and I guess that's how the type of women who are drawn to men in MCs probably would be (I don't know, but I'd assume so, given the nature of the lifestyle). Usually, though, their promiscuity is a little more subtle. The heroine's prolific sexual history would be hinted at or mentioned once, maybe twice, then it would just fade in the background and you don't have to think about it anymore. Here Andy just kept going on and on about all the men she'd fucked. Ugh ... like too much fucking information, bish!

Yes, Baker was a manwhore himself, and I certainly don't applaud him for it, but it's different for men. Yada yada, say what you want. I don't care what all the feminist, post modernist propoganda ideologs say. Sexually promiscuous women are not attractive, not in my escapist fiction. In Andy's case, here's why:

Nah, can't get on-board with this chick. I really don't care what another woman does with her snatch in real life, but in my escapist fiction I don't want to read about women with such loose morals. I just can't relate to them so I don't want to read about them. I almost DNF'ed the book several times because of how loose and whorish Andy came across, but I gritted my teeth and kept at it because my OCD tendencies would not allow me to not finish a book I had started. But it.was.torture.

It wasn't only the promiscuity that was bothersome, it was the whole relationship, which didn't seem believable. It felt rushed & implausible, like it was built on unsolid ground. This is why I've never found relationships that started out purely based on sex to be particularly interesting reading. Because you eliminate everything that makes the prospect of a romance enjoyable and solid - the couple meeting, the mutual attraction, the chase, the getting to know each other ... that whole entire buildup gets eliminated. And instead the sex takes centre stage, making the subsequent declarations of love and devotion that comes shortly after seem fake as F. Even dumbass Andy acknowledged this truth later on in the book.

By the time the actual romance kicks in, it feels odd and ridiculous, because after you've boned someone 101 ways since Sunday & in all manner of positions possible ... only after this, you seek to find out the other person's taste in music or their favourite colour. It cheapens the intimacy of sex when you're lying in bed with a stranger, wondering about basic things that one should already know about the person you've shared such deep intimacies with. For some, this isn't a problem; for me it feels hollow and shallow. Not enjoyable at all. And this was particularly so with this book.

I can tolerate stories based on one night stands more because a ONS is usually spontaneous and as the name suggests, intended to be a one time thing. Either the connection ends after the encounter or the couple then recaliberates to the traditional course of developing a relationship. But if the ONS morphs into the whole fuck buddy get up or the couple becomes fuck buddies after 20min of knowing each other like Andy & Baker, that's when shit gets thrown into WTF land for me. The whole having sex with no feelings and basically not giving a shit about the other person's existence outside of the sexual aspect, ugh ... I really don't see the appeal. I don't really see its appeal for the romance genre either.

Even the way their relationship concluded,

Secondly, I don't know, I wasn't onboard with this MC and these band of brothers. They seemed like typical Southern California, valley type guys ... kinda metrosexual and too cool for school. I couldn't see them as the hard, gritty types I've come to associate with the MC world. Perhaps that's what Hildreth was going for, but it didn't work for me. They read more like rock stars than hardened MC criminals. I don't mind rock stars in a book about rock stars, but rock stars in a book about a MC gang ... doesn't quite jive.

Thirdly, the story & pacing. I really struggled to get through this. Maybe it was because I was neither taken with the guys nor was I onboard with the leads & their 'romance', but I can't remember having skim-read any of the Selected Sinner books. With this one I glossed over a good number of paragraphs. I just wasn't invested. Their heists sounded exciting in theory, but came off kind of meh on the page. Moreover, the thing with that guy at the end left much to be desired; it was a loose end that was not neatly wrapped up, imo. I couldn't wait to finish it, which doesn't make me all that excited to read the other books in the series.

I'd been looking forward to this book for what seems like forever, the wait for Baker was so worth it (not that I ever thought it wouldn't be!!)
Baker is book one in the Devil's Disciples series and is a completely different kind of MC than I'm used to reading, than I'm used to from this author.
This MC isn't flashy, they aren't widely known for their lifestyle, pasts, criminal record or current criminal activity.
Nope, these guys are a small, close knit group of friends. They don't wear cuts, they don't fight with other clubs but they do take care of their own.
Baker shares similarities with other Hildreth heros; he's a good man, he's protective and he lives by a code.
He's also sexy as hell, honest and faithful.
Andy arrives in town with her life in pieces. Everything she ever worked for was torn away and she's starting over.
She's strong, independent and makes smart choices, just not when it comes to men.

There's a secret that ties Baker and Andy together, one she has no clue about and would probably wreck her world if she knew.

I loved Andy, she's strong and that's my favorite character trait in a heroine. Baker is so much more than I expected but as I type that I wonder just why I didn't expect it. Hildreth is known for his amazing, if slightly flawed characters who will turn you on and steal your heart.
Baker is that, he is now one of my favorites, he's in the top three of my favorite heros. Ever.

Baker

I found this story to be one of Scott Hildreth’s best. The humor and dialogue was spot on. Baker is one of the most likable outlaws I’ve come across. I find the male perspective in romance novels intriguing, so very different than female. Different is good in a sea of similar stories out there. I read this in one sitting and then I read the next one. I am now anxiously awaiting book three in the series. This is not a hardcore MC book. It’s a look into a unique group of “brothers”. I definitely recommend this one.

Baker is unlike most MC books I've read. It's a more mild MC read from Mr. Hildreth. The Devil Disciples are a small six man club. Men that have known each other for years. They aren't like most clubs. They make their money by robbing anything from banks to pawn shops. When Baker and his brother's rob a bank the teller stays on the mind of more one of the members. When Baker sees her walking into the building across the street he can't decide if he should tell Cash or keep the woman for himself.

Andy and Baker have instant chemistry from their first meeting. They are sexy, and explosive when they are together. The blunt conversations Andy has with her cousin, Holly, are hilarious. I look forward to seeing what's next for the Devil's Disciples.

3.75 Stars. A little different than your run of the mill MC book. Enjoyed it immensely.
